The problem with most of these ethnic groups is a particular attraction for the name of ttheir ethnicity. They can easily collapse themselves into 1 big strong ethnic group but they'd rather answer their village names. I have coined a name for them, "Ikwerroid"

Those claiming to be Ijaw in River state are linguistically as diverse as Italian and German. But they have now found a common umbrella as Ijaw. But the Ikwerroids are waiting for adversity to befall them before they can become one people, even when they have common ancestry.

Which groups were treated equally?

Firstly, imagine that Tinubu or a non Igbo President appoints from his tribe all the top people, to oversee and control a major ministry in Nigeria that will also manage the resources in Igboland. What would Igbo people be saying? That was what they were doing in the defunct Eastern region and with that, formed huge cartels that were pillaging the region. Igbo people killed the first Ikwerre (Iwhuruoha) journalist, a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who wrote for Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s West African Pilot Newspaper. He was well known and had a very good social status by the standards of that time.

Honukwuru Obasiolu was at Aluu tortured by Igbo biafran soldiers and later buried alive claiming he was a Saboteur.

Honokwuru obasiolu hailed from Rumuigbo and had gone to Aluu to see the condition of his pregnant wife who had gone to the parents at Aluu to take cover in the midst of sporadic shootings during the escalation of the war in 1967. When the wife came back from the farm to hear what befallen the husband, she collapsed and dies with the pregnancy.

His only daughter, Dr (Mrs) Ige is still alive.

Igbo people were stealing Ikwerre people lands and allocating only to Igbos in perpetuity, immediately the British created and handed the defunct Eastern region to them. My brother, for a defection to be legal or sustained, there must be division in the party to the extend that such division must have paralysed the activities of the party but an absence of the post of secretary doesn't render the party activities paralysed. Till date the party is still functioning and sponsoring members for elections at different levels.
A division must have caused splitting of the party into different units and rendered them inactive to do what they are created to do but nothing like that in the party.

Read below the decision of the supreme court and stop confusing yourself and the public:

"The full bench[3] of the Supreme Court after a careful consideration of Section 68(1)(g) and Chaper VI, Part III(D)[4] of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), Section 80 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) whose lead opinion was read by M D Muhammad JSC held that the division in a branch of a political party cannot justify a member of that branch who is a member of the House of Representative to keep occupying his seat if he defects to another political party. In the words[5] of M D Muhammad JSC after a review of the previous decisions of the Court on the same point[6], “The principles enunciated by this Court in the two cases, FEDECO v. Goni (supra) and AG Federation v. Abubakar (supra), is to the effect that only such factionalisation, fragmentation, splintering or ‘division’ that makes it impossible or impracticable for a political party to function as such will, by virtue of the proviso to Section 68(1)(g), justify a person’s defection to another party and the retention of his seat for the unexpired term in the house inspite of his defection. Otherwise, as rightly held by the courts below, the defector automatically loses his seat. In the instant case, the two courts are right that the Labour Party that has continued to function as a political party by meeting the conditions of associations by virtue of Sections 221 and 222 of the Constitution must necessarily meet, cannot be said to have been so factionalised, fragmented, split or divided to justify the defection of the appellant to another party and retention of his seat inspite of the defection. This remains the position of this Court on the issue.” The concurring opinion of Galadima JSC is quite poignant. Therefore contrary to the argument of the appellant at paragraph 29 of his brief, Section 222 (a), (e) and (f) which referred respectively to ‘National Officers’, ‘geographical area’ and ‘headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory’, is to support the argument that a national outlook of a Political Party is intended by the framers of the 1999 Constitution in construing Section 68(1)(g)…. “(1) Firstly, can a disagreement in a branch of a company be classified as a division in that company when the board of directors of the Company is still intact? (2) Secondly, can the local branch of a Company be wound up or merged with another Company?” He rightly answers the two questions in the negative. This analogical deduction settles the contest between the parties, effulgently and effectually too; for the nature of the division envisaged in the Section 68(1)(g) must be one that affects the total structure of a Political Party.”

The case law you are citing refers to the “branch of the party” but the issue has to do with the office of the ‘national secretary’ not ‘State or Ward secretary”.

They only need to prove that there was unresolved problem in the PDP before they decided to decamp to the APC.

The defected lawmakers are taking advantage of the loophole in the law which allows for defections when there’s an unresolved problem in the party.

The lawmakers while defecting, cited the unresolved crisis in the PDP that has to do with the position of the national secretary.

The questions the court will have to contend with are:

Is/was there a problem in the party with regards to the position of the national secretary?

Was this issue resolved before the 27 lawmakers defected?

I don’t think the lawmakers are as foolish as it appears.

People who do not know the law are looking at the issue from a narrow perspective and they are the same people that will accuse the judges of taking bribes when they deliver judgment based on facts presented to them.

It’s not even about Wike and that is what most people don’t know. Why do you think Wike is getting support even from Sims own immediate constituency? Sim was never a politician and couldn’t even win a councillorship election, Wike brought him onboard and many others did the legwork as foot soldiers for him to become governor.

Within 3 months, he started alienating these people, taking advice from other people that were vehemently opposed to his candidacy to build ‘his own structure’ and power base. Within 3 months, he wanted to sack all the LGA chairmen on the ground that they are loyal to Wike and then appoint his own loyalists as caretakers. These are the foot soldiers that made him governor. Why the so much rush just within 3 months? Why not let their tenure run out and an election conducted? Why the desperation? I hear one popular pastor in PH, whose presidential candidate didn’t win is among those misleading him.

This is just one of the several things he started, that made Wike and his group to react. Who would just let that happen? Then they started spreading rumours about Wike demanding for 25% of Rivers State money among other falsehoods, Sim knew they were not true and did nothing to debunk them rather allowed the rumours to fester.

It is not about governance and certainly not about money but more about the politics and Sim Fubara went about it like someone with evil intentions. That is the height of ingratitude!
