I am right now in Onitsha and it is cool. I can confidently tell you that motorpark touting is the same everywhere in Nigeria. Lagos and Ibadan are even worse, particularly Lagos

Had a terrible experience at Emeka Offor Plaza. I went there to get a phone only to end up at the shop of a supposed software engineer because I was with my other device that had issues. He said he was going to scan a dead device to see the problem and then someone good at hardware would fix it based on his recommendations.
He nonchalantly told me that it was just #15 per scan so I asked him how many things he was going to scan which he ignored. Before I knew it they were more than 10 guys, at the end of the day he brought out one rubbish from his system claiming he scanned about 700 information that my bill was #10,500. That was where the harassment started. I ended up paying #6,500. Even before I left there, I knew it was a fucking scam. I was just at a loss how someone would rent a shop at a plaza just to be carrying out that kind of rubbish scam.

That's why an Economist is always advice to go for ICAN or ACCA or CFA(There is accounting module in CFA) if not ordinary Economics may not take your far except you sabi road ...

Ordinary economics will take you far if you advance your study via MSC and PhD in economics or any of her specialisation ....

With Accounting... Just B.sc and ICAN/ACCA/CFA is enough to take you to the world or atleast Nigeria !!

Just go for economics if you feel that you can do it. I majored in accounting, I won't want to say that I regret it though but then I would have done something else. You just need an ICAN to become an accountant, so with your degree in economics it should be pretty straightforward for you. I am not saying Accounting is bad, just saying that you can still become an accountant without having a degree in it.

Thank God for your life OP, I can totally relate to your story. What I find the most annoying about this thread is those ones talking about greed and desperation, I just laugh.

I remember lying to myself countless times that I wasn't addicted but I knew that was a lie. I can't place a figure on how much I lost but I know that I had two scholarships as an undergraduate that wasn't accounted for with other money that I was getting. When I knew it was a problem was when I had access to my mom's account and took over 250k last year, that was when I made a decision to quit. I became someone that would borrow from friends at will, of course I always pay back but it was a terrible lifestyle. Even when I was "winning", I still tell those that were interested in joining not to bother because you would always end up losing more than you can ever make.

I have since paid back the entire money, never played a game since December 23rd 2020 and the urge to gamble is essentially gone. It's usually difficult for those of us that seem quiet and responsible because people won't associate those kind of things with you. The trick was to delete my only bet account since I know that I won't ever go to a shop to play any ticket. I am really glad they had a delete option.

Just ignore those telling you that you were not disciplined, it's a waste of time trying to make them see reason with you.
For those telling you about whatever secrets or tips they still use to win, ignore them. Whatever money that gambling can give you can be gotten through other means.
