In a country where factors of production is very close to zero.
Yet a university "beauty queen" is more appreciate than the best graduating students in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering etc. It means there can never ever be a head way out of f00lishness and stup!d!ty.

All of you making statement as the quote above, please note that nobody forced your folks to be non-achievers.
Crime / Re: Police Seize Cynthia Osokogu's Corpse by Tropilo(m): 9:41pm On Sep 07, 2012
Who is this inglorious "hon" judging poor Cynthia?
Its unfair to talk about her that way. As far as i am concerned we can never know what transpired between her and those devil's agents because we can never get her side of the story. So please, stop being uncharitable with your words.
She has done nothing to any of us to deserve such unkind words. Instead, she has become more of an iconocrast. Her death will at least make our sisters, friends and relations more sensible and watchful in matters as this.

Its true that you have to spend money to make money, but would this govt have paid if those millitants had not been Ijaw?
2. What happens if a new govt is in place when GEJ's end?
3. Is the govt also paying communities to secure pipe lines where they pass thru?

Family / Re: Married Women Using Their Father's Name As Middle Name by Tropilo(m): 3:25pm On Aug 25, 2012
jennykadry:

Why should he? Don't you know that women are now slaves to them men? A woman retains her last name and she is in trouble, she keeps her last name and makes it a middle name before her husbands and her husband is automatically tagged a softie, I mean how dare he allow her keep her last name? He bought her so she must Do as he says, she goes to a diff church from her husbands and boom he wants a divorce. If a woman is successful and has a branded name, what is wrong with including her fathers name to her list of names? KHLOE KARDASHIAN-ODOM? NGOZI OKONJI IWEALA( is OKONJI her fathers name?)

We have the likes of omotola who has been married for years to a very successful man, truth is some men who know what marriage is all about just cannot be bothered, there are tougher struggles ahead that they would rather concentrate on. It's like Genevieve nnaji's future husband whinging to the public that his wife refused to let go of her fathers name. Crazy

Some of these hollywood celebrities still get to keep their names. Oh no, the men paid no bride price that's why

You have just tacitly pointed out that its the men that are nobody(s) that will tolerate such.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iwuala, her dad was a cabinet minister in the days and she would want to keep the name cos her dad was somebody and traine her in Harvard.
Conversely, Stella Obasanjo, did not keep her father's name even though her dad was a very accomplished man as the very first black Chairman/MD of UAC the biggest conglomerate in the 70's/80's. Obasanjo, ofcos was a bigger name. So if a woman marries a man with a "smaller" name than her dad's she will want to keep her maiden identity.
CHECK: Dr. Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu, Madam Akerele-Bucknor.

Politics / Re: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by Tropilo(m): 11:35am On Aug 25, 2012
kunlekunle: in my home town,
there was a church situated on a street, 20 meters away from it, there was this mosque and almost opposite the church a shrine and by the shrine a joint.
there was never a clash.

A very good number of Yoruba's go to church but still keep their juju under their beds. Somehow, Desola summed it all up in a subtle manner.
As for the muslems, i think its a more general practise to consult both juju and allah even though both are the same.

Politics / Re: Who Killed Funmilayo Ransome-kuti (Fela's Mother)? by Tropilo(m): 8:09pm On Aug 24, 2012
Heard Fela's mom was popularly referred to as "Iya Aje". I was reliably informed she tried to get down from the balcony of the one storey building because the house was on fire and slipped from the roof of a smaller building Beko (her son), used as his clinic in Fela's premises.
Fumilayo (aka: Iya Aje) Ransome-Kuti, was not pushed let alone thrown through the window of that house.
A 78yr old woman would definately not survive being thrown from that height. Besides, the building had iron burglary proofs in the windows, so how possible would it have been to throw her through the iron mongery?
Fela, with his lawyers (Tunji Braitwaite) even took the Obasanjo government to court on the invasion of his property and was "adequately compensated" by the government.

Apparently, these IGBO people now hide under the guise of Yoruba names to perpetuate dastardly crimes - thereby giving the very good and blameless Yoruba people a bad name. Sad, isn't it?

Family / Re: Should I End My Marriage by Tropilo(m): 7:47pm On Aug 19, 2012
@OP: Your wife is 36yrs old, you did not tell us your age. Therefore, i'll take it that your at least 36yrs old also.
At 36 the two of you are nothing but over-aged eaglets in marriage.
You are bringing your marital problems to a faceless fora dominated by kids who can't wipe their nostrils and pull up their pants let alone pass WAEC and JAMB to advice you. I don't think you are really ready or ripe enough for marriage, your age is nothing but a number.
We can't even get your wife's side of the story to know the truth. As far as i am concerned, you are still a kid and your wife is far more sensible than you. Atleast, i'll assume she's not consulting outside family and friends.

Centinno01: Am an igbo person but clifford can proceed to hell straight,

What if he was innocent of allegations? Will the state or his accusers go straight to hell?
There was no proof that he was killing people let alone cannibalizing.
Do you think its easy for a homeless man to kill a human and hide the body? Did he kill and consumed the entire flesh, bones, skull and drank the blood in just one night under the bridge? The truth is that we Africans lack the ability for proper reasoning and forensic know how. We love rumours! We live it and eat it!
If it wasn't for the whiteman we would have still been worshipping crude oil sprouting from the ground and calling it the urine of the gods.
Now they have helped us turn "our gods urine" to a money making venture and the money has been our bane. We fight and kill ourselves over it now.

infact this is the first time i will a modertor doing his job very well.unlike some mods who wants to prove themselves to be king solomon the wisest man

My dear Onatisi, pls if you read my post carefully, you'ld notice that i am more disturbed by our general hideous pretentiousness than angry at your post.
I leave and work here in Hull City and also run a small firm in Abuja. In my employ i do not discreminate on tribes because i look for individuals who can work as a team.
At a time i almost stopped this Nairaland stuff cos of the nonsense i read herein, but because i needed to get to know happenings at home as quick as possible after the UN house bombing by the criminal jihadists i started again.
I am just not happy with the kind disrespect and insincerity amongst us as nationals.

onatisi: there is absolutely no justification for drug trafficking,it is a trade that ppl engage in to make quick money, and knowing fully well the repercussions before entering it
secondly coming back home we need to ask ourselves why is it that it is mainly the ibo that are into it?this issue was raised recently by a minister in niheria that over 80% of drug relted offenecs are from the south east,i think the ibos here will have an explaanation to give on that
thirdly it is a lesson for everyone ,never cross the law

I agree with you, that you reported as it is, but i very much doubt if you would report it "as it is" if the culprits name had been BANKOLE, FANIKAYODE, AKINGBOLA etc.
Many of us go out of our way to post stories of this kind because of the tribe of the individual involved not neccessarily because we want to report a crime or bad story. I think we should learn to be fair in our dealings. I bet, an Igbo would have seen that story before you and flipped over. A Fulani chap wouldn't report the herds men heinous crimes, just like a Yoruba would not report armed robbery by a Yoruba because it is "as it is"!
Problem is we do not trust one another and therefore wise to call to question the image of others. Its disheartening!

Politics / Re: A Building Collapses In Abuja Kills Three (Pictures) by Tropilo(m): 7:34pm On Aug 08, 2012
Not all collapsed buildings are due to poor materials usage or bad craftmanship.
Think for yourself. Why do buildings collapse mainly in the FCT? Why do buildings not collapse in Suleja, Minna, Damaturu, Maiduguru etc even with the heavy Boko Haram bombardment?
Abuja's problem with collapsed buildings is mainly a case of SABORTAGE. It has to do with land disputes and the roth that's going on in the territory's land offices. Because of the very high cost of land/properties in the country's capital.
Religion / Re: The Difference Between 'spirit' And 'soul' by Tropilo(m): 10:50pm On Aug 07, 2012
benodic: @ Emmy9ite

we do not possess soul. it is the other way round. we are souls wearing a physical body. all the various forms of life you see were all created by the Holy Spirit of God, the creative force, as clothes or bodies for souls to put on in order to experience life in the universes of God. when soul is done with each particular experience, it simply drops that body which goes back to dust and wears another one to continue its experiences.

Too much movies is bad for the psyche.
Travel / Re: Abakaliki In Pictures by Tropilo(m): 9:07am On Aug 06, 2012
Doubt if there's anything in the entire Ebonyi to attract a normal human right now.

Ebonyi sons and daughters should go there and start the development first. I know a few Ebonyi people here in UK and all their investments are geared towards Enugu and Abuja. One of them even makes mockery of the capital's name and refers to it as "ABA-LEKE-LEKE".
Ebonyi people should think 'home' first before calling outsiders. My take!
