Yes! He was not sworn in but, what is that "kpomo" faced inconsequential Shonekan doing there. Can't they replace him with MKO by some mago mago anyhow?
That's one man that is enjoying MKO's legacy for nothing.

No! Its not that they don't love MKO, but they love their brandy (sorry, i mean) brand more.

Guyman02: Oga Jona, abeg build something else and name it after the democracy icon MKO. UNILAG has become a unique brand that some of us who schooled in better schools still rever that name UNILAG. Its like the US Govt renaming the Masserchussets Institute of Technology (MIT) to George Bush Institute of Technology (GBIT) or jibiti.

You wish!

Sorry ma'am, ur daughter is not in any danger. The problem with these drugs is that they don't have the required quantity of active ingredients for proper efficacy. Best advice is to buy medicines or medicaments of companies that run adverts on telly or good radio stations.
Since madam NAFDAC left there isn't proper enlightenment and fight from the commission. So please, play safe by adopting the strategy mentioned above.
IT IS WELL!
@Logic Mind and co: what is not right is not right, please! Lets all condemn this evil practice and craze. If our brother does something wrong we must stand up against it.

~Bluetooth:

What is wrong with unilag ? Were schools not named after Awolowo,Azikwe,Okpara,Ahmadu ? Why should Abiola's own be different ?

What some people don't seem to understand is that MKO's first job on arrive after graduating with first class honours from the University of Glasgow, Scotland is that he worked in University of Lagos as an Accountant. Hence its very wise amongst other reasons to name the university after him.

ZUBY77: though, the story is a joke but this Rueben Abati reminds me of Squealer in Animal farm.
I had my laugh and thats more important to me,

Squealer with its red ribbon tied to its tail. That's similar to Dr. Abatti's tie.
Frankly, i didn't find the joke funny, one bit. I don't like it when the President is ridicled, i don't mind objective criticism though.

fm7070: As much as I agree that there is high rate of corruption in the system, I will not take Prof. Pat Itomi seriously.
Was the dupe case ever reported and taken to court before now?

There is something about 419 that people don't know. They will make you do something 'illegal' along the line. Such that, you will not be able to complain at the end of the day.

Prof should let us know the senator and let's hear from both sides before we allow the blameless person to cast stones

It appears you have only the perception of fraud that is hinged on greed, ie: invest 10kobo and you'll make #10m. That's not all about fraud.
Don't you think Prof. Utomi is bigger and wiser than that level?
What if during Prof. Utomi's campaign the said senator was supposed to help in campaign in his area or state and the Prof had advanced him some millions to facilitate his campaign there and Mr. Senator eloped with the cash or probably didn't do what was expected of him.
Look, even Rev Benny Hinn was duped by his colleagues back in Nigeria after parting with $4m. So please, not all fraud is greed related. Ok!

Politics / Re: Great Ogboru Is Moving To ACN? by Tropilo(m): 10:15am On May 27, 2012
Beaf:

Whats the problem with the guy? Saliba Mukoro, his fellow coup plotter is already in PDP. Why can't Ogboru join him and carve out a solid faction?
Joining ACN would be the end of the road. ACN in Delta? Lol!

No Beaf, for once i disagree with you. Factions spoil things for a party.
Its unlikely Ogboru will win under any party now anyway. I think he has lost his good-will.
Calculations matter a lot in politics. I met the state party secretary of ACN here in England before the last elections in Delta State and i asked him why they have not woed Ogboru to join them. He told me that Ogboru had been approached severally but each time he played the evasive bride. So i opined he was playing the "i can go it alone" thing. He said 'yes' and coupled with an even bigger problem. Which is that since he (Ogboru) is Urhobo and the average Urhobo man sees ACN as a de facto Awolowo party (remember the Urhobo-Itsekiri court case which Awo rep-ed Itsekiri to victory) he'll not get their support and the Urhobo's hold about 25-30% electoral votes in the state.
I was very much interested in Ogboru being governor just to put an end to the "monarchical" rulership of our state. Besides, Ogboru is an aluminus of my great GCU.
Now, things has changed. The Delta North are seriously playing its (my turn) card and that's one district that has given Ogboru 70% of its votes. Do you think they will be ready to distance their own son(s) to support Ogboru again even if he moved to the PDP? Foul!!!
Ogboru has lost it. He's compass is broken, distroyed, name it. No bearing!
Lastly, the ACN (apart from maybe, just maybe Adams our next door gov) might even give him the Adamawa treatment of "you are on your own".
Great Ogboru, is not that great anymore.
Crime / Re: 7 Killed As Robbers Attack First Bank In Ilasa-Ekiti, Ekiti State. by Tropilo(m): 8:13am On May 27, 2012
Bisjosh: ℓ̊ was traveling to Kogi on that fateful day. Only God saved me. We were abt approaching the bank when d indegenes urged us to park and get down from the bus as quick as possible!!!!!!!!! We ran to an indigene hse on hearing sounds of bomb and gun fire!!!!! We stayed there for 1 and half hrs. They even bombed d police station beside d bank! It was a tragic event bt am still grateful to God for sparing my life.

Horrifying stories of bank robbery is getting too much in the SW and each time lives are taken by these beasts who can not create any. Its saddening!
Think its time the SW governors came together, put heads and resources together and tackle this growing monster before it out grows all of us like the jihadists up north and before you know it they will claim to be "robbing" for justice. Then ask that we negotiate with them.

Politics / Re: Newly Transferred To Gusau In Zamfara State.. Need Help! by Tropilo(m): 11:21am On May 25, 2012
Zamfara is relatively peaceful but the state capital Gusau can be rowdy when the ex-Governor Yerima visits from Abuja cos he practically controls the state. He is like Tunubu to Fashola. The "okada" riders will take-over the major roads in Gusau to welcome him.
Don't know about accomodation since i always stay in Gusau hotels on my visit. There are a lot of southerners, Lebanese and Indians in biz circles in the state.
Noticed only the Catholic and Deeper Life churches there, i don't know where the others are located.
Lovely scene driving from Tsarfe to Gusua.
Your worries should be on your way which is the Kaduna-Zaria axis.

ogugua88:

His "seat"? There is a difference, but you didn't spot it. I said "unqualified president". How could I have been referring to the seat and not GEJ?

I'm not going to respect an unqualified, looting politician because his title is president. He and his cronies refuse to respect Nigerians, so why are you begging me to respect him? Respect is earned in my books. I don't give it out anyhow.

So who was more qualified of the contestants. IBB, Buhari, Shekarau, Atiku, Ribadu, et al? That would have earned your respect.
Politics / Re: Why Do Most Nigerians Like Insulting GEJ by Tropilo(m): 4:45pm On May 24, 2012
I think most of this insults started with the fuel subsidy thing. Ordinarily, a lot of the people pouring verbal vernom would probably have been giving excuses for the President as concerned other issues like power, security etc knowing he's obviously being sabotaged by the "sponsors of the criminal boko haram".
However, no matter the reasons we should respect the office of President and consequently pray for the occupier.
Education / Re: GEJ Orders Expulsion Of Unqualified UNIABUJA Students by Tropilo(m): 9:21am On May 24, 2012
@Ogugua: I have read through your "epistle" and i can feel the heat from your anger at the President.
Firstly, i'd like to clear that i am not in anyway holding brief for GEJ, but like i said in my reply to your post earlier that even if you find it difficult to respect him you should try and show some respect for the seat.
I almost die with so much envy when i hear the British anthem and a line of prayer is said for the Queen, and here we are throwing verbal dirt on ours. Its just not proper! A lot of commentators said even worse things about him but why did i single you out? It's because i feel you should seperate yourself and besides, you referred to the seat (President) and not GEJ. There's a difference! Though i don't know you personally, i referred to you as a "fine lady" which i still believe you are. Remember, i also said even if you dont have any respect for the holder of the office, find some for the seat.
GEJ has offended most of us, but i know that holding an office is not easy let alone a high one as President. I let must let you that GEJ is a man with conscience, cos in climes like the US, Israel etc if the government identifies that a particular set of people are the trouble-makers and sponsors of terror and they may not be easily proven in court or that taking them to court may give them some form of undue popularity. They will just send their secret security to eliminate them anyhow. So please, show him or better still his office some respect.

ogugua88: So what happens to the unqualified president?

Please, do not be vexed. Kindly tell us what exactly makes the president unqualified.
I am sure you are a fine lady, please don't join in rubbishing (y)our president for the fun of it or siding people who clown with such silly acts. It does not fit you!
Agreed, he has offended many of us with the fuel, electricity, corruption issues but he's still our President. If you don't have any respect for the occupier, find some for the seat, please.
GOD be with you!

Danka7777: Another way to chop money. Kai Nigeria! Set up committees? What you guys don't know is that the presidency has already calculated to make 2billion from this. Ask me how? These unqualified students who presumably bribed their way into college, will now have to bribe these committees members, and the these committees members will then turn around and remit half of the bribes to the presidency. This is Niger for you! Money circulation

My brother, the OP does not deserve any refund because he may have spent part of his school fees on akara. He is being deliberately drafty.
Mr. President averred that our problems did not start today, he believes "something must have gone wrong" since the entity called Nigeria came into being from 1914 to 2012 a period of 98yrs.
Any nation that has the likes of Umaru Dikko, IBB, Atiku, Buhari, Kaita, Bode George, Ibori, Alams etc don't you think more than "something" is wrong? IBB alone (sef) is enough let alone others.
