What amazed me most is that my Yoruba e-friends said they (Yoruba pple) are very respectful, that the letter was written by Reuben Abati or Doyin Okupe. But i thank God that there hypocrisy had been constantly exposed both in the Nigeria society and here on nairaland.
Iyabo Obasanjo is a God-sent at this time in Nigeria when the father is trying to ignite a fire that he will never be able to put out as soon as it starts 'blazing'. If only all Yorubas can have this gut and courage like Iyabo, this country wil be a better place.
We should not allow this old men that have put this country into this mess and underdelopment, to keep manipulating our future and destiny. In 5 to 10 year time they will all be gone (IBB, OBJ, Danjuma, Atiku, Clarke, madueke, etc.). They all have same thin in common, evil, destruction and wickedness. babaolofin: Dear All, only fools will believe such letter emanates from Iyabo. The only thing I noticed from Iyabo reaction to the letter is the mentioning of the Ijaw Woman's character. With the little career I have in the non civilian life and my present civilian life and my interactions with various tribal groups in Nigeria and beyond, an average Ijaw woman has a good strength of character and that reflects in their children (male & female). Yorubas also have a very good strength of character.
I have sympathy for Jonathan. IBB, Abdulsalami, Buhari, Gowon and other past leaders, radicals and statesmen are watching events. Those (group or tribe) whom Jonathan considers as the strength or pillar of his government are very weak and they may not know the strength of what they are doing or they have soon forgotten history. Abati and Doyin Okupe have a duty to resign from this government for this kind of fake letter designed to destroy the reputation built over the years even at the point of death. Fortunately, Dr. Okupe and I are from the same Ijebu Remo division of Ogun State. The late Chief Okupe, the founder of the first private bank in Nigeria, as I was told by my grand father was a man of principle and character. I have come to develop interest in Abati during his days in Patito's gang - a TV program founded by an intellectual - Dr. Pat Utomi. Both Abati and Okupe should know from Yoruba tradition that a daughter cannot write such letter to her father particularly a loving daughter and the closest child to her father. Even as student, Iyabo has represented her father on many occasions. She has good education both locally and abroad, she was made a commissioner in my state (Ogun) on the influence of her father, later, she was given a senatorial seat in the same state out of the influence of her daddy. Ogun State, an elite state of men of no easy means both financially and educationally, getting an appointment at a young age must have been under the influence and support of men that have paid their dues.
A daughter that has benefited from his father and also suffered for his father cannot write such letter. It is not in our character. Remember how she was humiliated because of =N=10M assistance her committee received as the chairman, senate committee of health. House of Rep and Senate returned the Money, the minister of health, Prof. Adenike Grange (Yoruba) was humiliated out of office despite her long contribution to the development of health sector in Nigeria. Obasanjo Relieved Mrs. Bolaji Osomo of her Ministerial job as the Minister of Housing without any querry for non transparent sales of government houses in Lagos to some Top PDP members. She wept, Prof Grange also wept. I remember, how Bola Onagoruwa was sacked from BPE for committing no offence. No DG of BPE can approve or recommend the sale of any government share in any corporation in Nigeria, except if I don't understand the politics again from Military to the present civilian regime. House recommendation on SEC remains because she was not from South West.

DerideGull: Nigerians should pay little attention to whether Iyobo Obasanjo wrote the alleged letter or not. They should focus on the message of the letter. Everything said in the letter or even did not say is unquestionably true.
The same folks that informed us to focus and deliberate on the contents of alleged OBJ’s letter to GEJ instead of the messenger are now telling us to forget the alleged letter from Iyob to her father. Certain section of Nigeria is known for double-talk and the presence of letters allegedly from the Obasanjos has reconfirmed a strait we already know about the people. That is the irony, the e-APCs asked us not to attack obasanjo but that GEJ should answer the 'query' obasanjo gave him. And now they are asking us to ignore iyabo's letter. So funny. |

saly kely: Because you hate Islam so you prefer the word Arab. probably you need some education. but the problem i have with nigerian christians is the fact that they will never research about Islam. their bigotry and prejudice is just too much. go to BBC, CNN and other european media and books they all made reference to Islam as the source and inspiration of these innovations. in the History of the world you would come accross the word DARK AGE that word is used interchangeably with the word CHRISTIAN ERA because this was the time the papacy held the world in darkness with its dogma. let me quote the president of the United State himself Barack Obama on June 4th 2009 " As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam. It was Islam – at places like Al-Azhar University – that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality. I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America's story. The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our second President John Adams wrote, "The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims." http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/04/us/politics/04obama.text.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 I hope u wont come here tomorrow say BBC, CNN, ALJAZEERA ech hate Islam. FYI some of the inventions, such as music, is never invented. Music is never an invention cos human being, even immediately after birth, understands the tone of music. I can conveniently say music originates frm africa (do ur research). So kool down. The present problems the modern world has is synonymous to Islam. |

TroGunn: Christ is no doubt God's messenger - he does what God commands him to do.
John 12:49 "I don't speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it".
Malachi 3:1 ""Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, behold, he comes!" says Yahweh of Armies". WEB
However, Christ towers above angels ( meaning "messengers" ).
Hebrews 1: 4 "This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names".
Christ commands angels and he's associated with the term the Archangel (Chief or Commander of Angels).
1 Theses 4:16 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first":
(Feel free to refer to this thread and others where Archangel was discussed deeply - https://www.nairaland.com/1446860/archangel-michael-jesus-christ/22)
In terms of nature, Jehovah, resurrected Christ and angels are all spirit beings. In terms of hierarchy in heaven, Jehovah is highest, Christ follows and then angels. Christ and angels obey Jehovah.
(Note that humans who go to heaven to rule with Christ in heaven will also be above angels - 1Cor6:3).
Once you cut out bias/traditions and follow the scriptures, it's pretty simple to grasp. I never expected u to post this long post. I short what u r saying is that Jesus is an angel. Read the first book of Hebrew again and again and again, u will discover that many distinctions were made between angels and Jesus. Jesus is never an angel, lets not go there again cos i have talked so much about it. The issue i will only touch is the point u made in ur earlier post where u said Jesus is the firstborn of all creations. I will respond to ur post, just hold. |
