Today I was thinking about humility in relationships and how difficult it can be sometimes to the point where it tests your character. I achieved a financial goal that I’m very proud of because in the past six month I have been working my ass off to buy whatever it is that I wanted to buy. Now that I have this thing, my mind started lingering and I started comparing myself to my boyfriend. I started thinking in my head “Oh I can’t wait until he finishes his Master’s degree so he can finally start his career instead of living pay check to pay check.” And then I allowed those thoughts to grow into bigger thoughts of “Oh I can’t wait until he buys a nicer car.” Then I had to stop myself when I realized what I was doing. I read somewhere that most relationships fail when the people in it start to focus on what the other person doesn’t have instead of focusing on what they do have.

It was then that I thought about one of the Valentine/Anniversary gifts that I got for my boyfriend. One of the gifts was a heart shaped box filled with 12 pieces of candy to represent the 12 months we’ve been together. And attached to each candy was a piece of paper that said one thing I love about him. As I share this with you guys, I hope that when you get tempted to dwell on the things you wish were different about your partner that you try to refocus your attention to the things you love about him or her. Especially if you are dating someone who isn’t yet “financially settled,” however way you want to define that. Becoming financially stable is a long process and it takes a lot of patience and humility when two people in a relationship are trying to reach that goal. Being humble isn’t easy but when you love someone it’s worth it.

3. The silly gestures you make with your hand when you’re telling a story.

if we're in a relationship I prefer one call a day in the evening after work, and maybe a few text messages throughout the day. When you first start dating someone of course everything is fresh so you guys start acting like love bugs, but once you get comfortable with each other a lot of calling can be annoying because sometimes you run out of things to say. Unless you guys are like teenagers who don't have anything else to do with their time.

The girl should at least have an idea that you guys intend on get married soon but seek the parents consent first then propose to her, that is if you're close to her parents.
