Bukkyade: It would be so lame, to conclude that the government has failed, cause even people on this forum can bear witness of its success stories. I would assume that you are not in Nigeria, or you have refused to notice the developments going on around you. I totally believe in GEJ, and he is doing the best.the Govt has nt failed neither passed...its just on a clueless and stagnacy ride. Failed state? We will get there soon...wish Nigeria goodluck |
Malawian: ACN / CPC merger my foot. We know it is a master / slave arrangement tinubu is leader them into. A slave too afraid to fight for freedom and too lazy to buy out his freedom. Oya mods, take this to ethnic, racial and secterian politics or better still, hide it. No ban me o. Abegits obvious u re bereaved of morals...dis is a pictorial depiction of the respect ur father taught u but u failed to learn...and referring to the Yorubas as Slaves shows u re either a southern "loser of biafra" or Shoeless and brainless southerner. |
Benin City: Court Orders Immediate And Unconditional Release Of Rev. Ugolor Posted: August 16, 2012 - 19:22 A High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria has ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Nigeria Police and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), to release Rev. David Ugolor from detention immediately and unconditionally, pending the determination of the motion on notice. Rev. Ugolor was detained by the police over allegations that he hired assassins to kill Olaitan Oyerinde, the Principal Secretary to Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole. He is the Executive Director of the Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), a non-governmental organization based in Benin City. Delivering her ruling on a bail application, the presiding judge, Justice E. A. Edigin agreed with the prayers of counsel to the applicant that through the averments, Exhibit G, the medical report and the affidavit of urgency, the life of the applicant is at risk and he should be released unconditionally forthwith. "I believe therefore that the applicant will not run away or abscond and will stand to defend himself to the end of the case", the judge stated, adding that the application has merit and it succeeds, but noted that the prayer for bail cannot be granted because, for a bail to be granted, the person must be brought to court on a pending charge. The Judge who noted that the respondents were in clear breach of section of S35 (4) and (5) of the 1999 constitution as amended, said that the law permits her to make such order or further orders as the court may deem fit in the circumstance of the case which the applicant has asked for. Relying on Order 1V rule 4(c) (1) of the fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules 2009 pending the determination of the substantive motion on notice ordered the respondents to release Rev. David Ugolor immediately and unconditionally. "I hereby order the Respondents to release the Applicant unconditionally and forthwith from their detention anywhere they have kept him in this country to enable him attend to his failing health." Justice Edigin ordered. Barr. Olayiwola Afolabi, leading twelve other Lawyers for Rev. David Ugolor hailed the judgment, saying "it is victory for democracy and rule of law in Nigeria." Barr. Osaro Osemwengie, also counsel to the applicant, described the court pronouncement as a "landmark judgment in the enforcement of fundamental human rights in Nigerian democracy." Civil Society Organisations who thronged the court premises took to the streets jubilating over the court judgment. Meanwhile, Justice Edigin has adjourned till August 23, 2012 for hearing of the motion on notice. Some suspects paraded by the State Security Service have made confessions implicating themselves in the assassination of Mr. Olaitan. |
Congolese Music Star, Koffi Olomide, Sentenced To 3 Months In Prison In Assault Case-BBC Posted: August 16, 2012 - 18:42 Koffi Olomide, one of Africa's most popular singers, has been given a three-month suspended prison sentence for assaulting his producer. The rumba star, 56, was arrested after a fracas on Wednesday at a hotel in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Correspondents say the courtroom was packed to see the star, who leads the Quartier Latin band. Olomide this year denied charges of raping three of his dancers in France. The altercation with his producer, Diego Lubaki, was over a debt of 3,000 euros ($3,680, £2,345), the court heard. 'Door damaged' Mr Lubaki said he wanted to drop the charges, but the judge continued the trial. "He wanted to withdraw charges in favour of social peace and peace between him and the one he calls his 'big brother'," one of his lawyers is quoted by the AFP news agency as saying. The court convicted Olomide of assault and battery but acquitted him of malicious destruction to property, after the hotel room door was damaged in the fight. The music he plays is known as "soukous", which comes from the French word secouer, meaning to shake, and its dancers are renowned for their erotic moves. Like other Congolese musicians, he is known for his extravagant lifestyle and flashy outfits. Born in 1956, he won a scholarship to do a maths degree in France. On his return to the then-Zaire, he joined the band of musician Papa Wemba, initially as a songwriter. He later struck out on his own and in the 1980s his soukous style gained popularity around Africa and he has won several Kora All Africa Music Awards. However, his career has not been without controversy and the raunchy performances of some of his songs have been banned in some countries. He sang in support of DR Congo's President Joseph Kabila during the 2006 election campaign, angering many of his fans in the opposition. Olomide has battled to hold successful tours in Europe since then, as opposition supporters disrupt his concerts, the BBC's Patrice Chitera in Kinshasa says. SOURCE |
virtuoso01: Something is obviously wrong with the head from which these statements are coming from.must he enter a mosque? Nigeria is a secular state; can you enter an Ogun shrine just because you are not a bigot? or you think it only christian and Muslim that secularism define? Abeg the pastor or whoever invited him should check what is wrong with is brain. must he enter a church? |
Southerners, you need to fight for a break up. If there's one thing that has never yielded positive results it's Military men running countries.
has civilian yielded any positive result too #GEJ as a case study |

How will the Nigerian Army secure the trust and cooperation of civilians with stories like this? I don't know why they believe their guns and whips which has done nothing in cubbing the BH menace is the answer. You nid the cooperation of the locals to successfully gather intel neccesary to flush this agent of death out of the face of this earthly abode. This is wrong and I condemn it totally. |
This should make the front page in a fair and just world. |
kasiem: abeg, where this people christians? Think deep before answeringThey are not Christians, Just like Prophet Isaiah dat predicted the birth of the saviour...to drive home a useless point some people will do anything even if it is to question the authority of the old testament. |
This is just a case of the people choosing to save a robber in the stead of Jesus...go ahead keep shouting free Barnabas!!! Time will tell.@Tunde Bakare may God be with u. |
I applaud his energy and boldness. But the Old fisherman should use the same energy to tell his fisherboy to first name and arrest the BH members whom he openly confessed knowing. If truly Clark is not a bigot and partisan y is Atiku's name always exempted from his assault wen we knw hw Atiku threatened hell. Also y did he not chasten the unguarded statement frm Dokubo or the Ogoni succession. If u must be a nationalist u must not be a bigot unless u like dat demeaning tag of an Ijaw leader. |

Billyonaire: ” The talk lampooned Mrs. Jonathan’s recent covetous behavior, describing her as suffering from a psyche of characteristic inferiority. The activist pastor, who was a vice presidential candidate to General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), asserted that Mrs. Jonathan’s background as a stark pauper caused her to seek “aggressive compensation.”The kind of pastor that speaks the truth daringly. Am pls ve u heard of Gender discrimination? Dat is exactly what u re quilty of which dis ur question. What difference does it make, at least wat a man can do a woman can do far better |
Billyonaire: “We are not saying that people should not control the resources in their own regions, but they had benefited from the largesse of our unity in the past. Now, they cannot divorce when they have their own child.” He added, “It is not true that Nigeria was formed by Lord Lugard, no. The statement above came from a pulpit, and from Tunde Bakare. Please can someone enlighten me on the Bible verse that this statement was quoted from. Sounds like politics to me. Christianity has gone to the dogs. Now I envy atheists.Read about Malcolm x, Martin Luther, and Nation of Islam maybe u will understnd why Blacks roam America freely. And pls if anybody enlightens u on d verse u requested for pls tell the person I nid the verse of the bible that reads "I have a dream" |
semid4lyfe: How is this a biblical sermon that is supposed to impact positively on the lives of the congregation?Thank God for freedom of speech if u don't knw that is exactly the right u just exhibited here. So please let Bakare is a man like u entitled to dat right, pls let him use it. |
The man is spreading hate towards a particular ethnic group. This is what the Nazis did to the Jews. In Europe he would have been in Jail for Hate-Speech. This is the true Yoruba nature.
Was trying to make sense of ur post till ur last sentence sum it up as nonsense. |
Super1759: Please!!! Please!! This man is not a pastor. The qualities of a pastor are just absent. Will u say Jesus Christ was only concern abt d spiritual well-being of his pple wen he feed them with bread and fish? Or is wine is spiritual well being package dat made christ turn water to wine? C look at Jesus and peruse the bible u will understand the "Political" Jesus. A man who fought against ill laws, corruption and sin |
ArQueBusieR: He shouldn't have replied.Sincerely y dignify dis rubbish wit a response Mr President. If u ve to resign it shld nt come from blood thirsty terrorist grp like BH.this is nt blackmail its stupidity |
antitpiah: uniform ko, prison attire ni. Why stop at uniform, he should just go ahead and regulate every aspect of their lives, including their private lives.Tell ursef wen u wake up from ur igbo induced sleep.. |
By 2014 BH will halt thr operatns nt because jonah is competent or our security agencies effective bt because he will tell his distractive gang(boko haram) to halt the killing so he use it as an achievement. So note dat we can die now till 2014(me I will nt die sha) |
