The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has sworn in 18 judges recently elevated to the Court of Appeal. The new justices of the Court of Appeal are Mohammed Danjuma (Niger State), Muhammad Sirajo (Plateau), Abdul-Azeez Waziri (Adamawa), Yusuf Bashir (Taraba), Usman Musale (Yobe), Ibrahim Jauro (Yobe), Abba Mohammed (Kano State), Bature Gafai (Katsina), Danlami Senchi (Kebbi), and Mohammed Abubakar (Sokoto). Others are Hassan Sule (Zamfara), Kenneth Amadi (Imo), Peter Affen (Bayelsa), Sybil Gbagi (Delta), Olasunbo Goodluck (Lagos), Adebukola Banjoko (Ogun), Olabode Adegbehingbe (Ondo), and Bola Ademola (Ondo). The list comprises 11 judges from the North and 7 from the South. There have been allegations that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has been making lopsided appointments that favour the North, allegations the Presidency has denied. SaharaReporters gathered that Aisha Buhari, wife of the President, was also expected to join them on Sunday. “All President Muhammadu Buhari’s children have moved to London in advance of his medical trip. He will travel anytime from now. His wife, Aisha will join the children today,” a source told SaharaReporters. The Presidency had earlier announced the postponement of Buhari’s medical trip to London, earlier scheduled for Friday. Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, did not give reasons for the postponement in a statement he issued. The statement only said a new date will be announced in due course. Buhari and members of his family routinely travel to the UK for medical treatment amidst the abysmal state of health care and poorly equipped hospitals in Nigeria. In March, the Nigerian leader went to the UK for what the Presidency described as a “routine” check-up. The trip sparked off a controversy as it coincided with the strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD). Since he assumed office on May 29, 2015, Buhari has embarked on medical trips abroad at least five times, covering a period of no fewer than 170 days of the five years he had been in power. The following is a timeline of the President's trips for medical treatment; on February 5 to 10, 2016, the President took a six-day vacation in the United Kingdom, saying that his doctors lived in England. Between June 6 and 19, 2016, Buhari went on a 10-day medical trip to England for an ear infection surgery. He extended his trip by three days to rest. On January 19, 2017, the President was back in London again on a medical vacation. On February 5, 2017, he wrote to the National Assembly, seeking an extension of his London medical leave. Later on March 10, 2017, Buhari returned to Nigeria but didn't resume work immediately at Aso Villa. The Presidency had claimed that "he was working from home." On May 7, 2017, Buhari embarked on a trip to London for another medical vacation. He returned after 104 days – the longest he had stayed outside the country. On August 19, 2017, Buhari returned to Nigeria, and it took him a while to resume work because rats had purportedly damaged furniture in his office. The Presidency, therefore, announced that he would be working from home. On May 8, 2018, Buhari went to London for a four-day "medical review." On April 26, 2019, Buhari again left for the UK on a 10-day private visit to seek medical care. He came back to the country on May 5. Most so called Babalawos are fraudsters and quacks. And you wouldn't want to encounter the handful who are the real deal. Having said that, there is a clear difference between the metaphysical/supernatural and the natural. There's a reason why JuJu didn't equip Africans to protect themselves against European colonialism and that's because it is largely overrated and ineffective. Even though his father reported his son’s disappearance, the police did not act. The victim was eventually able to make it home alone after five days in captivity. The story began on 6 June when the young man went missing; two days later, his father Daniyal alerted the police about his disappearance, but nothing was done. At that point the father decided to turn to human rights activist Lala Robin Daniel, who spoke to AsiaNews about the case. According to what is known so far, Danish was drugged and rendered unconscious before he was kidnapped by a Muslim named Ali Raza and his gang. They held him captive in an unknown place and raped him, then dumped him at a place near Faisalabad, from where the young man was able to go home and inform his family. Lala Robin Daniel expressed his disappointment at the police’s attitude: “As Christians we are a minority and we are alone. For us there is no justice and no equal rights.” Although the authorities are now looking for the culprits, no one has been arrested. For their part, Danish's family are demanding justice. “We are committed and will not spare any of them,” said Lala Robin Daniel. “We shall try our best to bring them to court and see them punished according to the law. We call upon high police officers to cooperate and arrest these monsters as soon as possible,” he added. Danish’s is not an isolated case. Violence against Christians in Pakistan is commonplace. Amid the rising number of abductions, child sexual abuses, forced conversions and forced marriages, the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) organised a seminar at the Sacred Heart parish in Sahiwal to ask the federal and provincial parliaments to adopt new legislation to put an end to such practices. CCJP field officer Yuhana Masih explained that the definition of “forced conversion” should be added to state and national legal and legislative frameworks. The Igbos never had any reason to hate the Yorubas and we also had no reason to fight them because we all had our nations before the British came in the 1900s, we were all independent and living well not until the 1914 amalgamation when Britain decided we must come together for whatever aim they wanted to achieve. “The Igbos had existed before the creation of Nigeria, the Yorubas too have been in existence before the creation of Nigeria likewise the Hausas but the 1914 fraud brought all these upon us. Then the 1966-70 civil war now created this distrust amongst us which is what we are battling with today. “That's why we are calling for self-determination. Let everyone manage their resources so that there won't be an unnecessary struggle among us. We are very much likely to collaborate with the Biafran agitators so we can achieve this. I know many people refer to the distrust and all but there are some people who do not even trust their own biological brothers or sisters so what are we saying? ”We have always enjoyed their support and they also, have enjoyed ours and that's why we keep saying that any attack on the Igbos is an attack on the Yorubas and we won't take it lightly. “We are not requesting for too much. We have not asked for what's not ours, so why is the government holding on. All we are saying is, give us the right to self-determination of our land, our resources so if liaising with the Biafran agitators will help us achieve this, why not? We are actually looking towards that.” Igboho had earlier warned that any attack by the Nigerian Army on the South-East would be repelled. In a statement by his media aide, Igboho said attacks on the South-East is an attack on the Yoruba people, urging the government to put a stop to raids in the South-East region.
