People's mindset differ. No job is too small to take. Sitting at home for 5 years and saying there is no job is an excuse that no longer sells.

Thank you.
Permanent residency in USA is a long process even if you go through school . The fastest way is through family sponsorship (marriage, child ...).

In 2019 I moved to a new apartment in Lagos and a friend came visiting . He had just written IELTS in preparation for the express entry program in Canada. He encouraged me to apply but I wasn't interested because work was going on well and my disposable income was a large fraction of my take home. Towards the end of 2020 my opinion began to change when the naira to dollar exchange rate dropped to 500+ . I wasted no time and prepared for the express entry application(language test, result evaluation, work reference, police report ... ). I applied , received an invitation to apply and submitted an application in February 2021. Application only got approved last month and I'm planning on how to make the most benefit of securing permanent residence in a G7 country. Circumstances differ and people's interest change from time to time. What I turned down in 2019 is what I am working towards getting in 2022.
Some people who are preaching USA over Nigeria may change their mind tomorrow and it is normal. Those who are preaching Nigeria over USA may also change their minds at a later day and it is also normal. We all get tempted to see things from our individual perspective

Don't mind them, minimum wage is 31k per year na cleaner and messenger work be that o.....oya convert am to naira how many graduates dey make that kind money per year for naija? Even if you consider the purchasing power.

Another case of generalization. Direct conversion to naira doesnt work. Everybody should analyze their individual circumstances and determine where is best for them (whether nigeria or canada). It is wrong to say canada is better than nigeria for everybody OR nigeria is better than canada for everybody.

Fear fear man no dey go Bakassi.

This thread, though a caution, is just a discouragement. But it can deter anyone who is determined to japa.
The word japa is too generalised. Specify the country and the route then one can make more meaning to it. Most Nigerians go to USA on a tourist visa and decide to remain there. People in this category tend to own their home and have an okay job/business before embarking on such a journey and thus may complain about the west being tough. But if someone struggling in Nigeria finds himself struggling in USA he/she may not even see it as a struggle.

In summary the poster’s submission should not be generalised as each individual’s circumstances, goals and paths are different.

If I’m to move from nigeria I’d like to go as a permanent resident holder (for Canada ), green card holder (USA ) or indefinite leave to remain holder (U.K.). Reason being that I’m already 30 and not ready to dedicate any additional years in trying secure residency status in another country when I should be using that same time to pursue other goals. If I was 20 it would have been different.

not true, I’m actually in the same boat but my own mail came in yesterday (Friday). The mail came directly from Accra Hugh commission.

Called vfs Ghana and they told me to send the passport photograph directly to the high commission since they were the ones who requested for it.

Sent it yesterday evening.
Oh okay. That’s careless of VFS to mixing up and misplacing applicant documents

I got it on Wed morning.

They asked me to send passport photograph again, either through vfs lagos or directly to their Visa office.
I don't have energy to go through vfs lagos( they will use 2weeks to transmit to Ghana) so I opted to send directly to the Visa office.

I believe it was VFS accra that requested for your passport picture as I don't think IRCC will accept an application without a passport photo

There are two sides to this. Many say the passports are stuck at VFS lagos before being shipped to accra. Another side says it is stuck at IRCC accra

If identity politics is ruining western society then why are the most popular threads here those seeking exodus to those same societies? Nigeria’s quota system is about the boldest official acknowledgment of identity politics as I’ve ever seen.
I told somebody that ethnicity and racism are the same to me. Nigeria practices ethnicity openly at even the most elite organizations. Lagos is the only state where there seems to be a little bit (a little bit) of tolerance particularly among the upper middle class. That's why a hausa man can go and secure an employment in an organization there. A jim ovia can own a bank in lagos. A allen onyema can own an airline in lagos. A dangote/rabiu can own a cement congloromate in lagos. My cousin from rivers state is a civil servant working with the lagos state government. The statement government cabinet is composed of indigenes of other states. An igbo man won local govt chair in festac... When you go to other states the resistance is more pronounced.

Good afternoon pls i am new to this thread....pls i would like to know what are the steps to take to process and apply for a canada immigration visa either by FSWP or student and how will i go about the IELTS exam is it compulsory. Pls i need a guide on where to start from because i was told its a long process and the visa processing too takes time and the IELTS exam too is kinda tough but i want to be sure of how to go about it so i can know how to gather my documents and probably prepare for the IELTS exams and what materials to read.

I have been to the canada site but there are just too much information to read and digest at the same time.

Thanks

Start by using the CRS score calculator on the canadian government website to have an idea of your crs score. FSWP program is based on invitation thus not everyone can apply. You get invited first before you apply. To get an invitation right now you need a provincial nomination from one of the provinces. Up until 2020 december direct invitations were issued to candidates scoring above 470 points. The ideal candidate is usually below age 30, has a masters degree or PhD, has 3 or more years of work experience in a skilled job and aces the language test with a band 9/10 . Nevertheless candidates not meeting these requirements are also known to have secured provincial nomination with gives them 600 free points. Do some research and you'll find a lot more information on this. Beware of immigration consultants who charge you and make promises they cant deliver on

Hello everyone!
As much as I'm trying to be patient and wait for this golden mail, I'm a bit worried. My AOR is Nov 2020 and there has been no update/change on my acct since I passed my Meds. & Biometrics. Everything is still being processed and I haven't received any ADR. I've called several times but always get the automated response and I've sent several webforms also but received just the generic mails.
Please guys, is there something I should do or should I just keep waiting??
No amount of calling can move things forward. If you are anxious apply for GCMS notes. The speed of your application depends on the visa office and the officer assigned to process your application. There is no formula. Some people have been waiting since 2019 which many of us that applied in 2021 have already submitted our passports. Some have even relocated

Your friend may have messaged you from the beer parlor lol . On a lighter note I dont like to disturb IRCC. I forgot to submit my IELTS report Form and sent it to them via webform. Other than that I didn't disturb them for one year till they remembered to process my application

Dsalvo:

Trust you to always contribute dumb and asinine comments. Did you not say the APC ticket belonged to GEJ exclusively? You've gotten that horribly wrong yet continue to talk inanely.

That some Northerners in the APC do not want Tinubu as the Party's candidate does not mean they will get the support they need to actualize their wish.

A wish that could actually destroy the APC many laboured for and that has only been ruling Party for eight years compared to PDP's 16 years in charge.

Can't blame you for never seeing the obvious. You're Igbo and your blindly hateful, clannish and tribalistic outlook to everything renders you incapable of viewing national politics objectively and realistically.

As I have told you and other Igbos many times before, your rabid hatred of Yorubas does not diminish their real socio-economic and political worth/importance to Nigeria and Nigerians.

The Igbos are hateful to the extent many will, anytime and anyday, cut their nose to spite their face only to then weep later. As an example of your hateful and self-destructive myopia, you people insulted and rejected the APC yet are now begging for her ticket today.

Northerners are not like you. They have a machiavellian approach to politics but not a rabidly hateful one as you Igbos do.

Many in the North, in a way average Igbo can never reason, will be aware of the serious damage they could do to future political alliances and relationship with others by blindly following the wishes of a President, outgoing next year, and his crew who will become nonentities in the new dispensation post May 29th 2023.

Buhari does not care about politics like that when out of office. After May 29 2023, and unlike the politically effervescent Tinubu, Buhari will disappear from national political and I can bet any money that not many will do 'abobaku' (be buried with the king loyally) for him right now to then regret it, as you Igbos will do, once a new regime takes over.

If the anti-Tinubu Northern hawks could get their way easily and without resistance then there will not be all this delay and brinksmanship we are seeing from Buni and his committee.

You have already discredited yourself claiming GEJ had the APC ticket and you will always predictably discredit yourself with all your announcements and outlook because sentimental reasoning, borne of hatred for otherd, is always flawed and myopic.
i'm not a fan of APC or Bola tinubu but based on the reality on ground he is the only candidate that has been reaching out to potential delegates and stakeholders in Nigeria promoting his ambition. No other person has done any visible ground work thus if the primaries is done today I believe bola tinubu will win. Even Osibanjo is neither here nor there although if I prefer him to BAT.

There is no formula to this brother. I had a classmate I never spoke to in uni in 2012. In 2014 I saw her at a mutual friend's birthday. We got talking and exchanged numbers. She was pursuing a degree in politics & economics while I was undertaking a degree in computing. We became really close from 2014 till date our union is still waxing stronger. I didnt go to the village. I went to scotland to study and she also went to scotland to study. Life just happened that we met each other as students and. We are both on social media and both enjoying cooking independently.

I am working on my eAPR now and reading some past post so that I can do things better

I took note of the following

1. ECA, IELTS - There is no separate placeholder for IELTS and WES. So you can upload IELTS and WES along with educational documents.
2. Though Schedule A is not asked for when submitting eAPR, later you will be requested to submit Schedule A.
3. Provincial Nominees(PNP) - If you are a provincial nominee would suggest you to submit copy of nominaton certificate and Schedule 4 (IMM0008_4E) upfront along with LOE. Though these are not asked for when submitting eAPR, later you will be requested to submit Schedule 4.

Are the following notes still valid and what do we advice now ?

This was what I did and didnt get any ADR:

1. My addresses from when I was 18 till date were completed on the form. Not even one day gap without an address.
2. For education section I uploaded my university transcript, university certificate and WES document as one PDF. I forgot the IELTS result but later sent to them as webform. Kindly add your IELTS result to this education section.
3. For proof of funds I uploaded my bank reference letter and six months bank statement in one document.
4. For proof of work experience I uploaded employer reference letter and paystubs for last 12 months.
5. All pages of my passport with a stamp
6. Emedical information sheet
7. passport photo according to specification

Maybe custody doc is a new additional requirement to prevent one parent from absconding with children, there was a judicial case we discussed here sometime ago....they may have seen more cases of this, just guessing.

My advise: in addition to all the docs you listed above, please also get & submit the exact document they have asked for. I don't think you have to be divorced or separated to get a legal document that you have custody of your children, but I may be wrong. It looks like IRCC trusts a legal doc from a court (custody doc) more than the supposed signatory of a non accompanying spouse on an authorization to
travel doc. Contact a lawyer to be certain.

Yes a number of court cases in recent time where a couple divorce and the mother migrates to canada with the kids. I read about one where the husband petitioned the canadian high commission out of fear of losing his kids. There PR was cancelled

Thanks for your reply but please how do I explain the bulk sum in my account?.

If its FSW (non- pnp) there is no 'yes' or 'no' to this as the visa officer processing your application may or may not overlook this bulk sum thing. For me I saved up the POF thus there was an increment every month as my salary + allowances came in . 2 days to AOR i printed the bank statement for 6 months and submitted along with a reference letter from the bank. I also know people who submitted only the fixed deposit certificate and were successful .

However while I was waiting for my application to be processed about 100 of us belonged to a whatapp group made up of people who submitted their applications at about the same time. A good number of people got an email to submit proof of funds spanning 6 months ( 6-month bank statement). I don't know why but if you get such and the 6 months statement you submit makes the visa officer suspicious, he/she might issue you a procedural fairness letter

After which I loaned it out again to my friend who is with it currently. I told her to hold on to it till I know what to do. I actually was not expecting a nomination because I intend to write my TEF exam in April but as God will have it I got NOI from Ontario in February. Now I don't know how to prove my POF. Should I write a letter of explanation or just have my friend transfer it to my Dad who can then gift it to me. I'm confused please help. Thanks

Receive the money, ask your bank to place funds in a fixed deposit account and submit the fixed deposit certificate as proof of funds

Please I need help. I got married last year July, my husband is a PR in Canada. We filed for a visiting visa through an agent in May. Biometrics was in June and till now we haven't gotten any response from IRCC regarding my application. Haven't been away from my husband for the past 7months after our wedding I decided to apply for school. Submitted application last week for fall 2022 in take and awaiting admission from school.

My fear is what are the chances of me getting a student visa with my spouse being a PR in canada. I intend using my father-in-law as sponsor coz of his business and assets then my sibling, car and land as home ties since my husband is not here and our marriage certificate shows his address in canada.

Please has anyone gotten student visa with their spouse in canada?

Can my father-in-law stand as sponsor with different last name. Though I intend getting an affidavit for change of name.

Please someone should help me with answers. I'm tired of being without my partner and school seems to be the fastest route now

Think about your strategy. You are applying for visit visa, study visa and may be spousal visa. Why not focus on one ? Societies differ. Why not ask your father in-law to move the money into your account ?
If I were in your shoes I'll ask partner to apply for spousal sponsorship on my behalf. Visit visa will be tough to get because married to a PR holder means you have strong ties to canada (at least this is how visa officers think)

Yes that is life. Nothing is straight. I applied directly to the FSW program. I spent 4 months after AOR convincing my guy to write IELTS after I had submitted my application. He eventually did, got nominated by ontario, completed the nomination process and got ITA in Q4 last year and got PPR in january 2022 while I was still waiting. I eventually got mine in February 2022. The guy we use to reach out to applied 8 months before me and is still waiting.
Some other people who I started this journey with moved to rwanda/kenya on temporary work permits and abandoned the program insisting that all applications will be cancelled.

Saying this to encourage you not to be deterred by the slight delay. Everyone will eventually get it at the right time.

LMFAO, the entitlement is amusing grin grin.My Gawd!!

Listen here you,if you people were smart you'd organise all your educated people around the globe, form a union or party that will push your government to prioritise the basic needs of it's citizens instead of blaming and insulting every country that rejects your parasitic nature . You could use that group to push Buhari to put more money in your education sector and push for more capable people to be in charge of reforming the sector and others. But what do you guys put all your energy in......running to ready made countries like parasites ....and when things don't work out or you find out that there's problems in that country too ,you start lashing out at your host communities as if they are responsible for you grin . I support you though in telling your people to stop flooding our shores,we have enough problems and struggles of our own,we can't keep catering to outsiders . Continue spreading the word.
Surprises me how entitled we feel in other people's country. What is the link between going to a country to study and becoming a permanent resident ?

Don't mind them. Give them a Russian Visa and American Visa, they will choose America visa.

Let me remind you Putin fans, when USA and Russia shared Germany, western Germany under US was so prosperous that eastern Germans were running every day from the east to the west not minding being shot at by communist government. Eastern Europe is less developed than west. The west was under USA, the US pomped money in the west through the Marshall plan. The west is economically better. What did the USSR do with the east. Today all eastern European countries are dying to join their western brothers in the EU... Money matters.

They said USA invaded Korea. Was it not at the invitation of the nationalist government in Korea during the attack from communist forces. Today the South is richer than the North. What did USSR or Russia do for the north. They are hungry.

Even Vietnam had to throw away ancient communist crap and become a free market economy to attract western investors. When America occupied Japan after their defeat, they helped the Japanese build a solid economy back. Japan became second biggest economy then before China came.

Even the chinese would tell you that it was America who rescued them from imperial Japan. China was struggling during the cultural revolution, she accepted free market economics and capilalism, today she is second biggest economy in the world. What did USSR do for her to become rich.

Show me one country that Russia has been with and they became very rich and economically viable. People are attracted to money and success.

Give these Putin fans a visa to Russia or Visa to America, they will speedily run to America and Canada.

Take a child to berlin today. Take him out to east berlin on day 1 and west berlin on day 2 . The child will prefer west berlin. Russians are communist in nature and berlin has not fully recovered from the mess that was created on the east end of the berlin wall. This is 2022 if one wants to move to an advanced society consider uk, usa , canada and australia and not countries with communist background
