After he said all that he concluded with the below which he didn't seem to get before: "He however, noted that fixing Nigeria’s problems, as formidable as they are, remains essentially the responsibility of Nigerians. “The international community can only assist, but the hard work belongs to Nigerians and their government." |
Guess it depends on what school she was in at the UK. But to be fair I studied accounting & finance plus qualified with CIMA in the UK and I cannot prepare double accounting cashbook. You know why? Because I have never had the need to in my career career and I am doing very well. Book keeping and stuff like that is more for accounting technicians with ATT and not accounting graduates or chattered accountants. That's like saying my son is studying electrical engineering in a UK university and cannot wire a house ![]() If that really is the reason she pulled her from year 3 (final year) to start again in Nigeria the she has has poor understanding of the accounting profession unless her dream for her child is to be a book keeper. Not cool at all. Like it or not he is the president. All this insulting is wrong. If you don't respect the office at least respect his age. You can express your disagreement with his actions without name calling and getting personal. Constructive criticism is needed to keep the government on its toes but not all this bitter abuse. ifihearam: |

Bu-herry Hahahahahaha Actually sounds like something George Bush Would have said. Howdy Bu-herry? fulanimafia: |
I've had this debate internally for a while now and the conclusion i always come to is the main attraction of Nigeria is the opportunity to hit money quickly. This also means higher opportunity to lose money quickly. I am not looking to make money over night, i am ready and willing to work hard and earn my keep so that doesn't attract me as I know and have seen that the easy money also flows away quickly. While i will always love Nigeria and be Nigerian, I appreciate my life and the life I am able to provide for my family abroad. There is also the issue of my child and her future to consider. My philosophy is she will be raised as a global citizen with the belief she can live wherever she wants and do whatever she wants. Never say never, if there is a reason or opportunity to return I will consider it, but at the moment I have a great job, earn well, have good career opportunities based on my skills and experience despite not knowing people or having godfathers, and I can provide a happy home for my family. To me home is where I and my loved ones are together, happy, safe, secure and have good prospects for the future. constantchanges: |
I don't really get why Messi is the one opening a stadium to be used for the African cup. Wouldn't an African player make more sense who would actually play at the stadium? |
Why is he sitting like a student being told off in the second pic? lol IbnSultaan: |
He speaks better English than some Nigeria University and especially Polytechnic graduates tbh. It's also a matter of how you bring them up as well, the type of kids you allow them to mix with etc i.e. if you marry a White Briton and allow your kids to mix with children around some dodgy areas around Peckham, don't be surprised if he comes up saying "init". I feel you on this. Same when I see our artwork in Museums around the world but then I stop and think if those art work remained with us, will we really appreciate or treasure them? What has happened to all the artwork left in Nigeria? Do we have museums where our people can go enjoy and appreciate them? NO hence maybe they are fine where they are. At least we and the world can view and appreciate our creativity. Vicjustice: |
Nice pics. I saw the Mona Lisa a few years ago and I must admit I wasn't too impressed lol. Felt like all the people were scrambling to take a pic just because it is the "Mona Lisa" not because they saw a painting they really liked or appreciated. Hope you had a great time though? Vicjustice: |
I don't know how many people are on the trip or the cost, but I know there will be lots of aides for the President, and each governor will also have a certain number. They obviously will not all sit at the table for discussion. More like support staff in the background. Masculity: |
Let's stop deceiving ourselves, far more Chinese citizens flock to America than vice versa. The Chinese wealth does not spread all over the country as there is still a very high degree of poverty in China especially outside Beijing, Shanghai etc. Regarding the number of Americans in China, many of them are expats transferred by American firms or Americans of Cchinese descent compared to the bulk of Chinese migrants to America who are looking for a better life. Even the rich Chinese are hedging their bets by paying thousands of dollars to give birth in America so their children have American citizenship which means they can file for their parent in the future. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2015/04/01/china-usa-birth-tourists-business-strong/24887837/ The Chinese economy has grown based on cheap debt funded indirectly by the Chinese government via state owned banks. This has led to asset Bubbles in the stock market (which has lost over 30% recently) , and the real estate market where lots of ghost towns were built to drive economic output but no demand. For those who don't know, China now has the highest debt to GDP in the world. Lets pray they avoid a crash as that would be bad for the global economy. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2015/05/09/chinas-total-debt-load-now-over-280-of-gdp/ China's economy is showing similar signs to the Japanese economy where they experienced similar rapid growth only to crash and face a stagnant economy for 20 years. I have my doubts about Chinese economic data because it is strictly controlled by the government. The media is also under government control as it is still a communist society. Despite all the well publicised issues facing China amid slowing GDP growth, they still always hit their target growth rate of 7% lol Propaganda. As a communist country, China needs to show strong economic growth to show the people there are jobs. This is crucial to controlling the different ethnic groups many of whom are rebelling against Chinese authoritarian rule, and it is the economic growth and prospect of Jobs that keeps the thread from unravelling. Yes China may overtake the US by GDP soon if they avoid a crash, but it will take a long long time if ever for Chinese GDP per capita ($54k v $7k) or quality of life for the general population and not just the rich to match the US. Even if China GDP is same as US, that means 1.3 billion people have same economic output as c. 300 million. I'll stick with America. |

Such a thread will actually be a good idea. What I will say is many companies with good graduate programs in the US and UK who are willing and able to sponsor for work permits tend to fill up a large chunk of their graduate programs from their internship class. My advice especially for those going for undergraduate courses is to try very hard to secure an internship with such companies during your studies as this makes it easier to secure positions on their graduate programs. Many times you may even be extended offers after the internship t return after your program if you do well. Now I am not saying getting such internships is easy. It is tough as there is lots of competition not only from US citizens, but other international students from China, India, Europe etc and this is where good grades, attending reputable schools and being informed matter. Understanding the recruitment timelines is crucial as i see many Nigerians miss this and end up applying too late. Most companies recruit the year before you start i.e. application will start about September 2015, interviews probably jan/feb and offers by March for September 2016 internship or graduate class so understanding this timing is very important. research research research, and try to mix with people who are better informed than you so you can learn from them. As someone mentioned earlier the first set of people you mix with can influence you either positively or negatively, so be wise. I personally am not one to insist on only mixing with Nigerians etc as I strongly believe in diversity and being a global citizen. mixing with people from other countries expands your horizon and makes you more enlightened and open minded. Not saying do not talk or mix with Nigerians, but be open minded to mixing with people for who they are not where they are from. Also note that the hard work starts now not when you want to apply. What I mean is you start researching the companies you want to target immediately you start your program. Sometimes they have events for prospective interns which are very good opportunities to meet people there and also learn more. Take advantage of all this. Good luck to all you guys. It's hard work but once you are able to break into the system, the sky is the limit. Sorry for the long sermon .mbeenox: |
As I said i don't believe the story because it makes no sense but good-luck to her as she seeks her destiny in Lagos. JayJustus: |
And all these people you mentioned came to Nigeria as 17 year olds with no degree or experience and set up taxi app and Etisalat? Didn't these people you are talking able come back to Nigeria after education and experience and exposure abroad to set theses businesses up? She as a 17 year old will relocate to Nigeria where she knows nobody and attend Yaba Tech as someone suggested and be the next Dangote right? JayJustus: |
We're not saying Lagos is not good. We are saying a 17 year old will leave her family and all in America to come to Nigeria for college.lol After College (I assume Yabatech) how will she get work when they ask for passport or work papers? Even if she is able to get admission to Yaba Tech or Uni lag after the stress of JAMB etc and she completed the 4 year course in 5-6 years. How will she serve when she finishes? The people you mention who return from America to Nigeria and make it are those who are older, more matured, went abroad to study and get good experience not 17 year olds going to Nigeria for college. More importantly they are Nigerians who have family and know their way around. Please tell her the truth. Wouldn't a better option be finish your studies in the US, start work with a company who can transfer you to Nigeria or come with an investment idea? I really don't believe the story anyway because how will her family and parents encourage a 17 year old American to relocate to Lagos where she knows no one for college. I know we want to speak good able our country but let's be practical here. Yababoy: |
Hahaha OK I give you that. Funny. I still stand by my belief that any firm of discrimination is wrong. Racial, sexual, tribal, religious, xenophobic etc All forms of discrimination are wrong.

H.. k |
For all those screaming racism, please read the o women have been doing to gain such a reputation. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/asewo-dubai-how-nigerian-ladies-prostitute-in-uae/ |
1000 likes. And that includes discrimination based on sexual orientation. I am not gay but I am strongly against discrimination. If it is a sin leave them to their God. Discrimination is discrimination is discrimination. Be it sexual, religious. Racial, tribal, beliefs etc. They are all discrimination. Phonetikkks: |
Thank you. Why are we so quick to scream racism. This is more stereotyping based on the actions of few and everyone does this. Besides if we are really honest with ourselves w know we have spoilt out name in dubai. Isn't it the same Dubai that was trying to make visa rules against unaccompanied Nigerian women a few months ago? We love to believe we are victimised against and always forget all the crap we do to deserve the bad reputation we have. Daintilicious: |
While I agree the hotel security over reactive and could have handled it better, please stop screaming racism. This is due to the bad image we have portrayed abroad. There are many Nigerian prostitutes in Dubai and the hotel must have had lots of issues with them. Let's call a spade a spade we have created a very bad image abroad which will take years to fix so stop shouting racism everytime. This is more an issue of stereotyping than racism. And I'm very sure that they would act same way to single women from the likes of China or the Philippines because the also make up a large proportion of prostitutes in dubai. maverickdude: |

Hahahahahaha so you plan to move from the US to Lagos where you have no family as a 17 year old to go to college lol. Goodluck. SimplyNicole: |

Their economy had been under severe strain strain pressure for pressure for long time now due to sanctions etc. It remain to be seen if the lifting of t sanction will lead to solid infrastructure investment and diversification. YabaLeftist: |
Smart comment. Interesting how people are starting to sound like it's going conspiracy against Nigeria. We are in this mess because we did not take advantage of the oil boom to invest in our economy and refused to diversify the economy. We chose to steal and waste all the funds and now some people are saying Islam destroying Nigeria etc. Yomieluv: |
Opec cutting production reduces Nigeria market share if Iran floods the market with oil as expected prices will still fall so double whammy. grandstar: |
