Wrong. The Ghanaian government “did not back down quickly.” Stop talking about things you know nothing about.

The situation between Ghana and the US dragged for years, and I think they recently reached a compromise. Ghana did not refuse to accept the people to be deported. The government wanted to b3 sure they were Ghanaians. Doesn’t that make sense? Don’t go spreading the notion that the Ghanaian yielded because the US stopped Ghanaian officials from going to America. Will person die if you don’t go to America?
The only people worried about dying if they don’t go to America are the ones who queue at US embassies everyday, populate every immigration thread here and are overly sensitive about every change the US makes to their immigration rules. What I stated is what was reported on the news. I’m sure you have insider information... none of which is of much use. Those who will be deported will still be deported, regardless of how much you protest.

The Dropbox news was May 15th, I’ve been back here for a few days prior to that. Not everything is a conspiracy. If Nigerians simply followed the rules, this won’t even be a topic for discussion.

Yes heavily subsidized and the VO’s don’t understand but at least that’s the last and final payment according to the hospital and they give itemized receipts to that effect.
Ordinary ultrasound scan in the UK wanted to run me mad , the quote was over a hundred pounds in a city that isn’t even London , in central London I heard it’s close to £300 or 250 and I’m wondering whattttttt
The VOs understand. I recall the first time I saw the quotes here, I was in shock. If prices were that low for the average American, no one would take insurance for maternity purposes. Compared to the insurance premiums you have to pay to cover a delivery, it would make more sense to pay cash. While that is the final receipt by the hospital, it’s not the final receipt for the American tax payer who still has to fork out for the cost of your “discount”.

Medical bills are the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the United States so it’s surprising that Nigerians are able to birth almost for free.

Very interesting......IMHO this is a change in immigration policy with no big or loud announcements......I wonder what will happen at interview if an applicant with a recent denial doesn't click yes undecided
I think that’s pretty easy. Material misrepresentation = visa denial.

Seems there's a new development now, namely; wait time (between one B1/B2 visa refusal and application for another of same category) adjustment from 6 to 12 months in the offing maybe, and a dichotomy in the dates allocated to applicants for renewal and those for normal applications. Dunno exactly, just speculating on what/where the attached image may just be headed....

N.B// This is for Abuja as of about now
May likely be for administrative purposes only.

Yes even at that there should be respect to human rights and rule of law. Due process should be followed, I am sure that if Nigerian government deport a German to Germany without property procedures and papers they will not allow that.
They served her deportation papers over a year ago and I bet she lived on benefits the entire time. What respect to human rights are you demanding when her own birth country cares less whether she lives or not? I find it weird that we demand more from western countries than our own. Where is the demand that Nigeria respects her human rights?

Ghana did it, when Germany wanted to deport some Ghanaians, Ghana president came to Germany and told the German government that Ghana cannot accept the deportees because they have no resources in Ghana to take care of them. That Ghanaians have contributed a lot in the development of Germany so they should rehabilitate the illegal Ghanaians immigrants that they want to deport. This is in the news you can google it.

There are rules guiding deportation, if the woman destroyed her paper they should ask the Nigerian embassy in that country to provide a necessary paper for her deportation.
waste of time. Ghana tried that with the US. They simply suspended granting visas to government officials and diplomatic staff... the Ghanaian government backed down very quickly. An unwelcome guest cannot be demanding to stay beyond the welcome of the host.

Nigeria is a foolish useless country, if it was Ghana they will put the woman and the children in the plane and deport them back to Germany. How can you accept a deported person without German immigration accompaning the person and the person deported is not having your official passport or your Nigerian German embassy paper. What make the person your citizen and on which ground are you allowing the person to enter your country, did Nigerian embassy in that country know about such deportation, did they approve it. Why behave as if they are slave to white people and take any shit thrown to them.
Yours is an example of misplaced anger. The foolproof way to avoid being slaves to whites is to stop migrating illegally to their countries. Last I checked, Germany did not specifically go invite this lady and her kids. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that the owner of a house has more rights than a guest.

Let’s face it, what you describe is not the typical Nigerian work experience. Companies may get level in Nigeria but they are simply places to work in the US. Let’s not overhype them simply because they come with certain perks. Being sent on foreign assignments are par for the course here.

Are Canadians allowed to stay indefinitely in US while on visit? you're a typical black man, continue giving excuses even when there's clear evidence of double standard.

https://cis.org/Report/Analyzing-New-Visa-Overstay-Report
I sent you the report already. America does treat Canadians differently. As does Canada. Unlike other nations, America shares huge border swathes with Canada so you’re comparing apples to oranges. They don’t need visas or a VWP. They can simply walk across the street. If Nigeria shared a border with the US, there would be nobody left in Nigeria today.

If you weren’t as concerned with the US, why are you here? The very people who complain about racist America would be the first to fast and pray for a US visa. America treats other white nations differently... their citizens are far less likely to break the law and they are of strategic importance in terms of the economy and defense. What is Nigeria’s value to the US, other than swarming their embassies like desperate refugees?

On which authority is this ? I was resident in the Uk so I know that if you don’t have NHS or insurance you cover you’re cutting your throat to pay and you’re paying up to £20k, before I resorted to Canada by first option was the UK , I won’t do this argument with you because you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about , healthcare being expensive is relative you cannot say healthcare in the Uk is cheaper than the USA when you can go to the USA and birth with 5500 dollars and return
Birthing is just as expensive in the US. The $5500 costs quoted here are heavily subsidized, which is why the VOs are now cracking down.

Again you’re being dishonest. Here is the full report straight from the USCIS. Start from page 15. Black African nations are the worst violators.

As that news report mentions, Canada is not a VWP country. Canadians do not require anything to come to the US and the same for Americans crossing over to Canada. Infact, I only require a drivers license at the Canadian border. You should pick a better example.

You're not being sincere to yourself. You shouldn't say most white predominant countries will not abuse visas. People from Romania, Poland, Argentina, even more prosperous Europeans have overstayed visas in America without returning to their homeland. Even Trump's wife is guilty, but no one cares because they're WHITE. It's time we tell ourselves the truth.
You’re being dishonest. The issue isn’t whether not one single person overstays their visa from predominantly white countries, it’s that Nigerians are serial visa overstayers, far and above citizens of Poland for example. There is no evidence that the interview waiver program has been suspended for Kenyans or South Africans for example... last I checked, they are not white.

What if we were all White? do you still think the same Trump will be so upset?
Again it’s not about trump. Overstaying a visa is an abuse of a visa. It is the duty of the state department to combat this through any means possible... that includes suspending the interview waiver program. There is no evidence that this has been suspended in all other African countries. Most predominantly white countries do not require visas to visit the United States hence your example doesn’t apply... their citizens also do not routinely lie at ports of entries or overstay their permitted entry periods.

We are incapable of running decent countries even we can live in. Yet we feel entitled to go force ourselves on others. If you’re that upset about trump’s racism then why is the United States embassy always so full of Nigerians seeking exit visas?

Has anyone sent the change of intent letter recentlyhuh.
I applied for vacation in November last year 2018 with hubby and my LO. the Vo actually asked us if we were going to use the us for medical assistance and we said we would if we got pregnant.
She advised us against taking insurance and granted us visa.
Now, I got pregnant the following month.
I'm due to travel. Soon alone with my LO.
My husband will join us later
My poe is Atlanta.
Any advice for us
The change of intent letter is a Nigerian contraption. It’s not read or attached to your application. Since you did truthfully indicate your intent to have your child in the US during your interview, you should be fine. Make sure you have enough funds to show at your Poe (location does not matter), evidence of a doctor/hospital you intend to use and stay away from cheap “discount” birthing hospitals. Good luck!

How can I not mind the messenger? I would be stupid not to, cause I'm black and he's a racist.
Trump indeed is racist, but this has nothing to do with the decision to suspend the interview waiver program in Nigeria. That is down to the high visa overstay rate for Nigerians.

Too often we are guilty of thinking about our case in isolation. We forget that the VOs hear cases like this countless times everyday. They’ve learnt to take stories like hers with a pinch of salt.

What company in Nigeria sends you on an 8-week “business” trip to Europe within less than a year of employment? As far as the VO is concerned, she’s basically shopping around for countries to have her babies for citizenship purposes.

Thanks for this but for clarity, if you read my interview post well, the question was if I intended to give birth in Maryland... and the answer is No and will remain No cos I don’t intend having my baby in Maryland.. if the question was do I plan to birth in US in the future, then that’s a different ball game. But you are right, it will be suspicious to come back few months later now applying for a medical visa. Like you said, the worst that can happen is another rejection so I will definitely have an open mind and hope for a positive outcome. Hmm. God bless you. You make the most sense here. Trump is a racist and his policy is MAWA which means Make America White Again. Here in America, the White Nationalists calls it Browning of America and that's why they want to limit people of color travelling to America. Next move for the Racist Trump is finding a way to stop the Visa Lottery Program.
Nigeria has been ineligible for the visa lottery program long before trump. This isn’t about racism, it’s about a country seeking to protect itself from a people incapable of running a functioning country who want to overrun theirs.

The only way forward is to try again. My concern though is that you already told this VO that you were not looking to have a baby in the US. Going back a few months later to now ask for a birthing visa may look suspicious. But that being said, there is no harm in trying again... at worst you’ll get denied again, at best you may end up with a nicer VO. No point worrying yourself to death about the outcome.

Majority of the commenters on this issue are simply daft!!
You guys can’t see that this is another Racist policy from the Trump admin geared towards making it harder for people from black countries to visit the United state.

Ghana was also banned!!
I haven’t checked for other black African countries.

This policy target only black countries even though we have the smallest number of visa defaulters in the states when compared to the likes of Canada, China, Vietnam and most other non-black countries...
Canadians do not require a visa to enter the United States. I think it’s clear your comment is borne out of ignorance.

Does it mean that for someone who's abroad with few months to the expiration of his visa, the person will have to come back to Nigeria and be interviewed for renewal?
You’re most likely one of the reasons they cancelled this. It is against the law to renew a non-immigrant visa while physically present in the US. You’ve been abusing the Dropbox for years.

Location: Abuja

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning. Passport please
Me: hands over our passport (was with my 18months old baby)
VO: Are you traveling to Maryland alone?
Me: I’m traveling with my husband and baby for a family vacation
VO: where is your husband’s visa
Me: Hands over my husband’s passport(he had recently renewed his visa via Dropbox)
VO: where is your husband at the moment?
Me: At work
VO: How long do you intend to stay
Me: 2weeks
VO: (smiles) I grew up in Maryland... I love Maryland. Aside ... and ..., there is nothing else to do there. So why are you traveling to Maryland
Me: For a short family vacation. I have a friend in Maryland who promised to make our stay fun.
VO: oooh... now I get!
VO: Have you traveled outside Nigeria before?
Me: yes... Netherlands and Spain all in 2018
VO: why were you in Netherlands and Spain
Me: On business trips
VO: (he calls the company I work for) sent you on a business trip?
Me: yes
VO: how long were you on this trip
Me: 8weeks
VO: How long have you worked for xx
Me: 1yr +
VO: and within a year, xx sent you on a trip?
Me: Yes.
VO: I want to ask you a direct question now?
Me: Go ahead
VO: are you going to give birth in Maryland
Me: No. just going for a family vacation
VO: Your husband traveled to the US in xx
Me: yes
VO: why
Me: told him
Vo: so after your vacation, what next
Me: I will come back to Nigeria. I have a job her
VO: looks at his screen and after a while, say I regret to.... hands me the pink letters which states no strong ties back home.

We wanted to travel in July for the summer break. But that won’t be happening again. We intend having our next baby in US. and from what I can see now... interview date is from October. Hello all,

My last visit to US, my kids and I stayed almost 3months and during our stay my kids 8 and 5yrs enrolled in a public school nearby the apartment I rented, just to keep them busy. Do you think it's going to be a problem for us when renewing our Visa?
If you’ve ever wondered why US visas are harder to get even for established travelers? Look no further than this example of willful disregard for the law.

You honestly should never be issued a visa again. You have no right to simply enroll your kids in school to “keep them busy”. You don’t pay property taxes that maintain those schools. Those school may be “free” to you, but they cost the average American home owner thousands of dollars a year.
