otipoju: You have a very strong point.
My prayer though is for God to elevate me to the point where i can be visiting every six months for at least two sundays. The Last and First Sundays. That will be 3 key services for a total of 7. Wow. That would be fantastic.
I will surely get there. It depends on what you’re looking for. I’ve been blessed to attend true bible believing churches in the heartland of Michigan, New York and Texas. Go online, most churches post their sermons online. Watch, pray and let God guide. |

God retains His potition as Almighty and in all things we should give thanks God has always retained His position as the almighty... He has been the almighty before you and I were ever conceived... regardless of whether you get a visa or not. If i never read a bible, one would think God existed solely to grant Nigerians everything they ask for - especially visas to escape the hell on earth they created with their own hands. Good luck. |

fairheart: Yes, since you claim you're a Christian, you should know that 'I'm a god'. Because that is who the Master says we all are. I'm a god who sees good in others; a god who respect the sanctity and dignity of another human being--irrespective of their situation; I don't try to pull people down when they need to be pulled up. I don't further cut the wounds I set out to heal; I didn't think nations are built from another man's nation, and come here to say all sort of things about the country that is a part of his identity. Your words and your so-called truth (which is nothing but pathetic and irrational view) don't hold together; you're very confused.
Now that you have a just and better understanding of Christianity, I will be here waiting until you're ready. I have seen many guys like you and, trust me, choose your words very well when you're ready. I am not the type you can mess with. Check my profile and look into my eyes, and tell me what you see. Maybe I could teach you some real life lessons your nasty education did not teach you. I don't condone the childish and bad manners you have displayed here lately.
Don't start a fire you do not have the skills to put off. You are god only in your own imagination. The pride and utter arrogance in your words basically destroy whatever "just and better understanding of christianity" you purport to hold. I've heard threats like yours for years... the typical empty Nigerian threats, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. There is nothing to see in your eyes, other than nigerianized religion... built around the theology of "gimme". Good luck. |

fairheart: Long time Twoods! The last time you and I had misunderstanding here, I told myself I'd not get on any heat conversation with you. I will manage to keep my word. But I must say a few things about the comment below.
You said you're a Christian as if you've to tell people who doesn't know you before they know your faith. You also hit the original poster hard by saying he falsely acknowledge God the visa approval you know nothing about how he started and ended to the point of the approval. How did you know his acknowledgement of God is false? A true Christian would not have used this set of words on another Christian because he reverences his Creator for a success that means a lot to him. Who're you to even quote that part of his post?
Yes, you're right that he did basically everything his counterparts in Europe or Asia would do to get the visa, yet, acknowledging God is something any stable, grateful, happy Christian would have done. And you come out here to hit it as if it's wrong! He owns all the right in heaven and earth to call his approval a "miracle". Is it not a miracle in a country good and genuine people don't get their way (even after hardwork, and doing all the right things the right way) because of the way our situation is? Is it not a miracle that a man from the largest black nation on earth and one of the poorest, is going to the best nation on earth? Is it not a miracle that you, Twoods, got your F1 visa smoothly, which was a huge opportunity that gave you a strong foundation you harnessed to become who you're today? Why not return home and see the difference? Maybe! You even live and eat in a country that even its founding fathers acknowledged God and miracle at one point or the other during the founding phase! I think you don't know what a miracle is!
As for saying he did others disservice, you're also wrong. Blatantly wrong! In fact, you're seeing all these religious stuffs from a broken perspective that you need to fix before you can truly earn the badge to correct others. And you need to fix it, because it's neither helping you nor the people you think this guy has done disservice to.
If you love God with your heart, mind, and soul--as the Christ you said you follow commanded—you'd have known and understand perfectly well that it's every Christian responsibility to reverence God! That is their Creator for Heaven's sake! It's one of our duties if we love God! He has done that and you are trying to call him a bad name. This's the part of your comment that touched me to grab my computer to write.
Some of the students you see on this forum are first-generation! Some of their parents did not get to travel abroad to study. I know a student here who was the first in his entire family—from Dad's and Mom's side--to enter the airplane and travel abroad to study. You will call it nothing because you easily got your visa. But for him, this is a feat—a record his children will live to read and be proud of. How stupid of me would it be if I say he should shut up and sees it as normal? It's not normal! He did great and that's it! He should be thankful to his Creator—even if this student is not righteous or has garment of sin on! How's that your business? How has that done any student here a disservice?
You cannot judge anybody religious/spiritual experience, no matter what you claim to know, the level of your education, age, or the social stigma you claim you're correcting. You're an educated man! Read the history of the country that has bathed you with opportunities you use to have come this far in life. The US was founded by men and women who had strong faith in God and influenced by it. Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Rockefeller, Washington, etc. If 32 years old Thomas Jefferson who's said to have written the Declaration of Independence is here, I'm sure he would be laughing at your comment. The "God factor" was part of his life as it was for others. He prayed and write about "God". This was when America was under the influence of Great Britain. And Thomas was one of the brightest young men of his generation. Read that document bro!
The issue is not God or reverencing Him, because the last time I read the book of Isaiah, it's stated in a chapter and verse I can't remember that, 'We are His witness." And you know what that mean? We have duty to reverence him. He's our Source and Creator! We wouldn't have been here if not for HIM. That's what Emeraldtommy was trying to do! And you miss that part, man! The American founding fathers placed God at the centre of everything while they do their homework—as this student has done prior getting his visa! He's done nothing wrong to deserve this useless comment that you should have assessed thoroughly before posting here.
I have pushed this idea everywhere I go or invited to talk or share my opinion on the state of governance in Nigeria: God will not do for us the things He has given us the abilities to do by ourselves and for ourselves. But if we do what we should do, He's God to help us where and when we reach our limit--if need be! Nigeria is not what it is because Emeraldtommy and other Nigerians perpetuate or live with the perspectives that all it takes is "miracles" for Nigeria to work; Nigeria is what it's because Nigerians abuse religion by hanging on God when and where He wants us to work hard and get things done by ourselves. It's not because we reverence God or admit his presence or believe in miracle! We will still need miracle to build Nigeria anyway! Yes, we must work hard, create, innovate, strategise, breed natural leaders, and do our homework when and where necessary. But we will still need God, prayer and cling on the essentiality of morality to create a nation as great and prosperous as America. Go to China and ask their highly intelligent scientists if they believe in God or a spiritual being or force aiding Creations or at the centre of everything! They will tell you their story. They believe in the assistant of the spiritual realm, which God is centrally behind! I would have been the first to bounce on Emeraldtommy had he said he got his visa due to "all-God, no man duty" bulshhit. He did not do that. He's just happy and grateful to a God who got his back.
If you want to help your home country rewrite its dark story of ineffectiveness, poverty, lawlessness, falsifications, corruption, injustice and more importantly, abuse of religion or faith that has destroyed and wasted our resources and time, do it right. You'll need God's help yourself to do that! In fact, you will get to a point you will wish for a miracle and get it, even as you play the primary role. You gotta accept that God is at the centre of everything, even in the midst of darkness you see many Nigerians groaning in. Get your own perspective about things checked. You've done a lot of disservice to those you claim you wanted to serve with the comment below. I hope that they, too, see where you got it wrong! Have a great day! When I have more time I hope to respond to you. It seems to me that your understanding of Christianity is terribly flawed. Like many here, you’ve created to yourselves a “god” in your own image... one who blesses fraud and looks away when you bend the rules... while of course claiming to reverence him. |

mykolalekan: At first, i feel like ignoring your comments and unsubstantiated qoute but on the second thought, I felt i should correct your insinuation and unfounded facts about me otherwise you will continue in your archaic ways in responding to inquiries on this forum in the name of being blunt. It should be known that 99% of Nigerian seeking Visa Approval are potential migrants which you are not exempted. If i have devised F1 Visa to migrate to a greener pasture is purely my decision and none of your concern.
I have a study permit application to Canadian Embassy which is still under process, I am baffled to hear from you that my visa application was refused since 16th of May 2019. I never knew you now work with Canadian embassy for you to have had a first hand information about my denial even without my knowledge. I need a proof about my Visa denial from you for this forum to see that you are just a noise maker trying to seek cheap attention.
I have also seen a lot of people got approval with their family on F1 visa, what makes you conclude that Family is the only ties to home country? Also for you to conclude that I do not have sufficient funds to maintain a decent life in US is very nasty comment to have made and shows how shallow your mentality is. I do not need to expatiate on my financial strength but heaven knows that i can feed and pay your bills conveniently for 2 years.
Yes, I made it know earlier in my post on this forum that I was denied a visiting visa in 2018 which is not a crime, I can conveniently tell you that I have lost count of number of time I have Visited UK with my family.
I will admonish you to control your loose tongue while replying to comments on this forum and always make a constructive arguments. The decision to lie on your visa application is yours to make. To tell everyone else to keep quiet, when they will ultimately bear the burden for your selfish irresponsibility is silly. |

So you also asked for a false SOA and it was given unto you? I have never seen citizens of any other country so religious and yet so corrupt. |

Johnkay101: That you weren't asked doesn't mean a V.O mean knows you will stay in their home country and become a citizen. One of the reason for granting non immigrant visa is home ties, you must overcome section 214b and which i know you did overcome. All I am saying is, we all have hidden intent which we can't let the V.O know in order to get visa and I won't call that fraud. As far as your documents are legit and you have legit plans, i don't have issue with such person. I've been in the US for almost 20 years... at that time, most of us had no idea what a 214b was or that it even existed. A 221g letter did not exist as far as i recall. Most of us had very smooth visa application processes. I did not produce a SOA. I went to the embassy with my passport and I20 only and was in and out in no more than 20 minutes. Most of what you guys have to produce for an application, i only learnt them on this forum for the first time. It is sad how low we've gotten in such a short time. In 5 years it will be easier for a camel to pass through a needle than for a "hustler" to "study" in the US. good luck to you. |

Emeraldtommy: This got me laughing you know... You're free to say this, it is a product of your thought. What I wrote earlier was a product of my experience. And when I said from start to finish, it was God, I mean it, basically miracles. You don't even want to know the kind of advisor I met, you don't want to know the kind of favor I had from registering for my exams, to application, everything. I have read a lot here, for some, like a horse passing through a needle eye, for me, it was a hitch- free journey. So, when I said the process was a miracle, please, remember it's a product of my experience. Not the usual process you stated there. Millions of students come to the US every year to study. For the vast majority of them, it is typically a smooth application process. the only reason you need "miracles" is because of the country you've created. Answer me this riddle, why did that same "god" not show the same "miracle" to another person with the exact same profile as you? Is your "god" a respecter of persons? Did you make any special sacrifice? |

Johnkay101: Why haven't you returned to your home country? Did you tell the V.O that you will stay in America after your studies. Let's call a spade a spade and support those seeking better life. I don't encourage fraud but i will support any hustler going through legit ways. 1. Simple answer - i did not want to spend the rest of my life with folks like you. 2. Nope, i was not asked to return and i was very clear about my plans and intent to work in the United States. Your last sentence is completely confused. Everyone knows what a Nigerian means by the term "hustler"... and "legit" does not include using fraudulent SOAs. When you tell someone to use an SOA that does not include any money that is available to the intending student, you are indeed explicitly encouraging fraud. Nigeria is one of the only African countries where drop-box visa applications are no longer accepted - why? Less than 10% of visa applicants in Nigeria are granted a visa - why? I have NEVER seen a Canadian visa applicant to the US have to provide the same level of application documents requested of Nigerians - why? Most Canadian US visa holders only need to show up at the border to get stamped in, often with nothing but a drivers license or passport. But of course, all the above means nothing to you generation of "hustlers"... cutting off your nose to spite your faces. |

Johnkay101: What can the people do with a bad leader. A country that people's vote doesn't count. I know the level of corruption in this country is high and it marvels me. Using a legit bank statement to obtain visa even though the owner of the statement will not release the funds is not fraud if the fellow have legit means to pay the fees while studying. While we use God factor is cos of the country we are in. Someone I know went yesterday, prepared well, the program is fully funded by the school and yet he was denied. There is God factor(some call it luck or grace) for this visa thing as far as Nigeria is concerned and until the country gets better. Same God factor is obtainable in other corrupt countries. Well if you can, change your tone while addressing people, it doesn't cost you anything. Fraud = wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain. You know you are being disingenuous so i won't even bother to argue with that statement you made right there. You are not much different from the "bad" leaders you blame. You would do the same thing if you were in their shoes. The person who was denied has no know else to blame but people like you. You keep blaming the level of corruption in this country, when you yourself are here justifying corruption. I laugh in greek. God is very clear as to his laws - lying and cheating are not acceptable to Him... so infact your claim about a "God factor" is a figment of your own imagination... a god created in your own image, a god with no moral character, a liar, a cheat and fraud. |

Johnkay101: In as much as you contribute to this thread, you need to change the tone of your message. Just because you have made it in America doesn't mean you should spit on others face. Some want to leave and get a better life, blame it on the country and not on the individuals seeking better life. Some just want to use their uncles Statement, obtain visa and hustle over there to pay the tuition fees. I know someone who transferred to a community college and have been hustling and paying his fees. Everyone wants a better life, you too are grateful that your children will not face what is obtainable in this zoo, same as what others want. You can advice people but please change the tone of your message. Sorry... you haven't had to fly to international airports and be treated like a criminal, not because of anything you've done, but because of the willful dishonesty of those who happen to share the same passport with you by accident. This is not about "because you made it", its about doing the right thing, especially for those who loudly proclaim "god" in every post here. A country is nothing without its people. A country does not magically happen, it is simply a reflection of what its citizens are willing to accept. The countries we are running to did not develop a better life by magic or because they have a special blessing from a deity... they did so by holding themselves to strict moral codes of conduct, a thing we despise. This is a zoo, not because God made it so, but because you and your ilk think it is morally justified to cheat to obtain a "better life"... one built on the backs of the morally honest. Everyone wants a better life, they are just not willing to put in the work to achieve it, rather preferring to steal, lie and cut corners. My tone isn't the problem, you are. I am fully justified in despising those who "just want to use their uncles Statement, obtain visa and hustle over there to pay the tuition fees". Thanks to them, we are now required to provide our grandmother's blood to obtain a visa that others have no trouble getting. Those people callously think only about themselves, forgetting that their actions are the reason others will never ever get the freedom to explore other countries. Yes, i will always spit on them, no problem. Show me any German thread of US visa aspirants... i dare you. |

Brown2Green: The US education is very expensive and hardly affordable without funding or statements. You sound like you came from a wealthy background. Kudos to you!
The US education is basically designed for the rich and for years, only politicians and other blood suckers had their children schooling over there.
Fraud is highly discouraged, but SOA is the only fighting chance for Nigerians without sufficient funding. And not everyone have parents that can cough out as little as N1m. The sentences in highlights are confusing to me. In one breath you say fraud is discouraged, but then admit that it is ok to commit fraud as our only chance at obtaining a US visa? Perhaps that is why things never change for us? Because too many of us are ok with the end justifying the means... we are ok with fraud as long as it benefits us. Yet we complain that we are treated with suspicion at embassies around the world. The US education is not designed for the rich, it is designed for Americans. Nigerians should design an education system that is affordable to its citizens. Oh wait, we can't! We've dishonestly stolen the money... all in the name of gawd of course. If there is one thing i am genuinely thankful to God for, it is not having to raise my children in a zoo where it is ok to lie with impunity. |

Lol This statement of yours is one-sided. Plans for accommodation can be made after Visa approval and that's totally normal. That doesn't insinuate being lackadaisical.
Wait! Why would you say those words in bold? Like why would you say those words? Because those words are definitely true. His brother and friend are not going to give him that money if he should need it to for living expenses. He is making the claim that this is money available to him for his exclusive use while residing in the US... but we all know that is false. When the embassy asks for a SOA, they are not saying show us all the money that everyone you know has, they are asking specifically for money set aside for the purpose for which you seek a visa. We all know... yet we continue to lie and cover for the outright dishonesty of our fellow Nigerians. All i see are people excusing fraud... while claiming "god", "grace" and other pseudo-religious psychobabble. I have yet to find anyone, other than a Nigerian, praying for a visa to anywhere. Little wonder we can't even be offered the dignity of the drop-box application anymore. Shame. US institutions are typically very thorough. When they send you and admission letter, it comes with detailed information to assist the international student seamlessly adapt to life in the US. That includes information on available housing, estimates of living expenses - some even go the extra mile to provide you maps and useful information on the town you will be residing. If at this point you have not used that information to have a rough idea where you will be staying before applying for a DS160, i am obliged to conclude that indeed you are lazy and unserious. |

Emeraldtommy: I'm sorry my transcript came a bit late, I wanted to have my hands on my visa before posting. Please, forgive me. I was a little agitated when I started reading the transcripts on this platform, especially the transcripts that were rejected late last year. I however kept reading, and again, Fairheart's post about seeing many visas approved encouraged me. The whole process, from start to getting the visa was a miracle only God could do. It took a while before I agreed to write GRE n TOEFL, after my masters degree, with what my eyes saw with researching in Nigeria, although I wanted a PhD, but Nigeria was a "NO" for me. I wasn't ready to read any serious "book" again too, so, I was just pursuing South Africa jeje for my PhD. My husband wouldn't agree with me on the SA prospect no matter how I talked about it. He just didn't like the country for anything. After a while, I kept reasoning on what my friends had always told me about writing the standardized exams and applying to the US. I did and I was graced to talk to an advisor whose active research is a match to masters degree research. He agreed to supervise me and told me his research is a funded research. So I applied and was admitted and offered GA with stipends. Below was my conversation with the VO . Me: Good morning VO: Good morning, your Passport and i20 please. Me: Okay, Here...
VO: Where are you going? Me: I'm going to JSU for my doctorate degree in Chemistry. VO: How did you get to know about JSU? Me: I did an online search for schools with graduate research in Chemistry and then streamlined my search to schools with Natural Product Chemistry, and there came JSU and other schools I applied to.
VO: So, your focus will be Natural Product Chemistry Me: Oh..yes
VO: Do you have a Professor to work with already? Me: Yes
VO: His name? Me:Prof...
VO: Did you apply to other schools? Me: Yes, I named them
VO: I see you're fully funded Me: Yes
VO: What will you do to maintain your scholarship status?
Me: I'll maintain an excellent performance in academics and research ( VO nods in affirmation)
VO: What have you been doing since you completed your Masters Me: Been into research at my Supervisor's laboratory. I carry out experiments and analysis, write reports and help supervise the undergraduate students.
VO: Are you married? With children Me: Married, Yes, with Children, No
VO: Will anyone be travelling with you? Me: No ( at least, not now)
VO: I'll be approving your Visa, she gave me the white paper and told me to get my passport from the address indicated in 3 working days. Me: Thank you. I am a christian... but i am tired of reading this demonstrably false acknowledging of "God" anytime we obtain immigration benefits the rest of the world takes for granted. Yours is a profile i have seen all too often - well prepared, going for degrees that are in line with their previous degrees, good grades, and best of all - proof of full funding from a well respected US school. Except for rare cases, people with these profiles typically get their visas approved... without having to claim that it was all a miracle. You do others a disservice, rather than preparing hard like you've done, you perpetuate the Nigerian idea that all it takes is "miracles", even when presenting fraudulent documents at their visa interviews. |

Thanks to all who contribute o this thread. The information here is massive. Congrats to those who have gotten their visas. Favor and grace to those in the process of going for their interviews. and renewed hope to those who have been denied, but plan to try again.
Pleasseeeeee I need all your help here. I am filling my DS-160 form and i need to know how to go about the following:
1. The part of address where you will be staying in the US. 2. Who is paying for your trip?
1. For address, I picked one of the school housing units to fill the form, (while I may eventually get off campus housing) please what do you guys think?
2. With regards to the person paying for the trip, I have the option of co-sponsorship of my brother and our family friend, self, as well as $11k assistanship from the school. Now my brother has about N6m and our family friend has about N3m and I have about same amount too. On my i20 it says self, family and friends and the school assistanship as source of funding. Now should I fill my brother as person paying for the trip being the person with the higher amount of cash here. However, what happens to the others involved in the sponsoring? Please how do i explain this. (I no sabi dagbo and I no even fit think am even f some persons say na the way... I no do)
Kindly help ooo, I have paused my DS-160 and awaiting answers from the experts and gurus in the house.
@LagosismyHome @sharwama @Time2win @Mayorsmart005 @Brown2Green Please kindly assist me. All others too abeg all your inputs will be appreciated.
Meanwhile my proposed transcript is on the way for y'all contributions as well. Thank you very much. You're not a serious student. If you were, the questions you're asking would have been answered long before you filled your DS160. I am also disgusted... you're seeking "favor and grace" while actively lying on your form. At this point, you should have liaised with your school to determine where you will reside during your time there. Typically, US programs help out international students by sending them information on available student housing, costs and other living expenses to give you an idea of how much money you will need in total. Why are you asking the forum to provide an address for you? Your brother and your family friend's money is not available to you. You are only using their proof of funds to lie your way into obtaining a visa. |

My worries is that I am in my early 40's, will it sound nice to the school and the VO to be sponsored by aged parent considering my age and family status Considering that you will not have access to your mom's treasury bill investment, that leaves you with a little more than $30,000 for tuition, fees, room and board, feeding and living expenses. Neither you or your wife will be unable to work... so how do you intend to care for an entire family and maintain your status on $30,000 for a year or more? Yours is a confused mishmash of a desperate economic migrant masquerading as a student. Profiles like yours make it harder for genuine students. As at April 19, you were still actively processing a Canadian student visa - obviously you were denied. As at May 16, you were planning to apply for a US visa alone, within the span of 3 days, you are now planning to file with your wife and kids. How is this proper planning? To be frank, you will be denied a visa whether you go alone or not. 1. You already have an MBA, how do you justify paying thousands of dollars to earn a masters degree again? 2. You were denied a US visit visa in 2018 and a Canadian student visa in 2019... your profile is that of a non-student seeking to use the F1 route to migrate to the US. 3. You compound that by showing up at the embassy with your whole family - no ties to your home country. 4. You have no funds to maintain a decent lifestyle in the US. Good luck. |

Marymag101: Pls I am new to this thread. Can someone help me analyze this and advice me accordingly. I did Dropbox (this is my 3rd visa renewal) but I was called in for interview. My interview is in 12days. I have never faulted the visa. I spent almost 2months the last time I travelled. My last renewal was 2017 but I couldn't travel because I had a major surgery then I travelled in 2018 to recuperate and stay with my sister that s why I spent that long. I work with a govt parastatal and didn't use my leave in 2017 so I used all of them in 2018 (I have a special rapport with my boss and my job is very flexible). Prior to this time, I never mentioned I had a sister in the USA because we haven't been on talking terms & didn't even know her address (long story). But after the surgery we reconciled. Hence my visit in 2018. Now while filling the last form, my assistant helped me fill it I just gave her my booked hotel address because I would be going to Florida this time on a girl s trip (friends coming in from other countries we would meet up in USA). My husband has a valid visa but isn't coming with me this time. I totally forgot to update her on my sibling & contact in USA. She had already submitted at Dhl. So I let it slide. Now I am called in for interview, do I refill the form or just inform them at the embassy I have a sibling there? What if I am asked why I didn't fill it initially? Or I shouldn't just say anything if I am not asked? By the way, my sister is a USA citizen. Her husband filled for her while she was in Nigeria then she joined him there. So she's legit. Thanks as I await response. God bless... It is not clear to me why Nigerians give themselves such headaches by refusing to be honest at the first time of asking... the question on the visa form asks if you have any immediate family members in the US. It is a Yes/No question... so claiming that you forgot to add your sibling means you answered "no", which is clearly a misrepresentation. You are asked to state if you have family in the US, not family that you are on speaking terms with. You've just given yourself unecessary problems. |

zikavonne: Hello,
I have 2 itemized bills that have to original bill amount before discount without any mention of the amount I paid.
For eg, I paid 1500 for anesthesia but my itemized bill shows 4000. If I am asked how much is the medical, should i mention the discounted amount or the amount stated in the itemized bill? Mentioning that you paid the full amount is simply lying for an immigration benefit. Thanks by the way for sticking the US tax payer with the bill for your “discount”. No surprise why insurance premiums rise by an average of 30% every year... but so long as you got your “free” service... |

fkj950ax: These calculations for Vacation Spending as against Salary is flawed.
People have savings People have investments. People have properties. Side hustle nko? Even Ajo/Esusu can yield 1.9m for you to use as you please. Decorators for events (my industry) invoice up to N4m for an event. If they land 3 in a month, I am sure the savings/margin will be way north of N2m after expenses. My neighbor has a block of 4 flats from NHF he is paying back for 13 years, and the rent is 900k for each flat. She lives in the BQ with her family.
I want to disagree with this position that if you don't earn N3 to N5m a month, then you don't "deserve" to go on vacation to USA, but you qualify Ghana and Shengen countries.
Do you have an idea what I used to get as end of the year allowance and bonuses at a place I worked less than 4 years ago?
That being said.
Visa refusal is high if you observe the unseriousness of applicants. While on the queue inside Lagos Consulate during my interview, i was perplexed at what Nigerians were saying during their interview. As a fellow applicant, I would have also refused them. You’re preaching to the wrong choir. You are looking at the situation for only a tiny minority of people. The vast majority can not afford to travel to the US on vacation... and are only trying to leave as economic migrants. heck most Nigerians don’t even take time off to vacation in their own country. The VOs have less than 3 minutes to interview you. They don’t care much about your allowances and bonuses. The issue is that we’ve been so dishonest that it’s hard to believe what any Nigerian says at any visa interview. |

adosjun: Good evening house,
I would love to know our chances
Married Husband- 7years experience salary ( 5*****) monthly Wife. - 5years experience salary (295,000) monthly
No traveling history Husband denied while single in 2014 and salary low
Scheduled for vacation in July.
Please advise Chances are slim. I did the math, you make max $2500/month between the two of you. How do you convince a VO that you intend to spend the equivalent of two months salary (include costs of flight tickets) for a few weeks vacation and return to Nigeria? |

kaad: Hi guys, just to gather as much info as possible (i have read through the thread)
Myself, hubby and 2 year old son will be attending husband's cousin wedding (legit US Citizen) in late June at florida.
we have filled out the DS-160 form and have also picked an interview date for June 10
we are applying from the UK where I'm currently a PhD student, prior to travelling to the UK 7 months ago for study, we all do not have any travel history.
while filling the forms, we stated that the person getting married is sponsoring the trip and we intend to be in the US for 2weeks to also view some tourist attractions.
In order to A's our interview,
1. with the above claim, which is the whole truth, what are our chances? 2. is it okay for her to be the sponsor? if it is what other document do we need from her aside from the invite? If it is not, how do we correct that on the already submitted application 3. Lastly, from our end what documents do we need to go with?
Many Thanks. You’re applying from a foreign country where you likely hold a non-immigrant visa. It will be more difficult to surmount the requirement for home ties - but not impossible. What does your hubby do while you go to school? |

stevedre: Thank you for this piece. Mexicans also share a bother with America but they are treated different from Canadians. I guess it’s the Same reason Nigerias all around the world are being treated like shit, we got very poor reputation globally all thanks to our terrible past and present leaders. The cup of the suffering masses almost full and when it’s full the rich leaders and family will drink from it. The North is now a reflection of a failed region despite producing leaders running the affairs of Nigeria. More wisdom to you Miz. Simple. Mexico is a poorer, violent country and one of the primary drug trafficking routes to the US. It’s not all about skin color. I’ve lived in States bordering both Canada and Mexico and I know which border I’d prefer to leave open. |

zinkotop: Hello house. I went for my visa interview today but was denied again. I was also denied last year Here's the transcript; Vo: passport Vo: why are you going to the us Me: to attend a conference and expo organized by an association i belong to, it's called ABCD. As i was trying give the full meaning of ABCD, she cuts in? Vo: where's the venue of the conference Me: cleveland ohio Vo: who's paying for the conference Me: my employers Vo: have you been out of your country before Me: was in ghana with my wife during our honey moon, but thats been a while. It's on my expired passport wanted to show her, but she cuts in and said i shouldn't worry. Vo: how long will you be staying in the us Me: seven days Vo:Are you married Me: Yes Vo: how many kids Me: two Vo: kept on typing and finally handed over the yellow paper. She said im not eligible for visa at this time, that i should try again later
From what i saw today, they denied 90-95% of the people that had the 10.30-12.30 appointment today. I feel it was strongly based on no previous travel history. Last year i was nervous and wasn't fully prepared. But this time i was so confident and ready for them. They didn't even ask why i was going for the conference or what the association does or what i or my employers stand to gain.
.... Pros in the house, E bawa da si The VO did not buy your conference. How is this tied to your job? Why would your employer spend money to send you to attend an expo? Those things need to be clear. |

filanid: Hi House,
I am a silent follower and i have a question about my sister. I am getting married in July and she is my only sister and maid of honor. She was denied visa last year March for no good reason:she wanted to come for our brother's graduation. Do you think they will ask her what has changed since her last appilication. Forward to present: her interview is next week. Can you please criticize this transcript. How can she show more ties in Nigeria. She is for sure coming back to school.
VO: your passport Me: passed to him/her VO: which state are you going? Me: Indiana VO: what are you going there for? Me: My only sister is getting married in July VO: How long are you going stay? Me: four weeks, here is my ticket VO: are you married? Me: No VO: what do you do now? Me: I am in final year at Redeemed University, I will be returning to complete my final year project, here is a letter from my Dean and Supervisor. VO: what do you do to earn a living? Me: I am a computer science student of polytechnic of Ibadan doing VO: Who is sponsoring your trip Me: My parents VO: Have you traveled within the past 5yrs Me: Yes, Togo and Ghana VO: do you have any relative in US? VO: Yes Thanks As far as the VO was concerned, your sister was denied for good reason. You may disagree with his/her opinion. You should realize that the VOs see thousands of people with a similar profile as your sister every day. Most likely do not return after the wedding/graduation/conferences they go to attend. Your sister fits the profile of most at risk group - young, not working, only a student, no serious ties. The other problem... how did you come to stay in the US? Did you also obtain a visiting visa and stay back? Lots of reasons for a denial. |
