vickertony: Well-done Boss,
Been reading your comments, seems you have experience with graduate admission,i have a few questions to ask you please!
1.I studied Accounting, can i get admission with funding, i graduated with 2.2, i know its upto 3. on naija scale of 5.0,i haven't seen my transcript, so i made the calculations my self, am serving by November, i only have statement of result and no cgpa is written on it.
2. Will i write GRE, Toefl and Sat all at once to stand a chance of getting funded by the school i apply to and what grades should i aim to stand a chance in all three exams?
3.what are my chances of remaining in the USA after my graduation?I don't want to come back to Nigeria, ever!
4.Am looking at September 2018,when should i start applying for Admission?
5.I have this uncle in Missouri, do you think is better i apply to a university in Missouri in terms of Accommodation so as to stay with him,his family and other unforseen expenses?
6.This my personal Hustle, my parents don't have much money to help me out, what are my chances of ever succeeding, i know some people here are from not so rich family.
Thanks, patiently waiting for your reply So the VOs spot this, they pick you out easily during your interview, they deny your application because you've clearly stated your intent here... then you blame God for your "delay". |

Nwebele: LagosNIV,
Please what are my chances of visa renewal if I overstayed my allowed period of stay by a month in my last travel. I went on my second travel to deliver. My bump was not noticed and I said i was on vacation (this was all ignorantly as I got the impression that the CPB just hate to see Nigerian pregnant women for no reason and I was advised to wear a big boubou that conceals tummy) so I was given 3 months by the CBP. I begged the hospital to deliver me through CS so that I would leave on time but they refused saying baby comes when he is ready. I was delivered at 42 weeks. When my husband joined me, the CBP asked him why he is returning so soon and he said his wife just delivered. He (CBP) said oh, congrats. Just tell her to pay up all her bills otherwise she would not be allowed entry next time.
I really didnt think about the implication of the overstay then. Until now that I came accross NL and learnt many ideas. Am wondering if it will affect me. Also, I just checked my passports and noticed that b2 was circled on our entry stamps and exit. Nothing was circled in our first visit stamp. Am wondering what that implies, too. Please I need some clarity to prepare myself for interview Sigh... i doubt CBP hates to see Nigerian pregnant women, but i'm positive they thoroughly dislike people who try to fraudulently beat the system as you have done... thank you very much for making it that much harder for the next woman. |

KendrickAyomide: Who be this crase man? U smoke? Na For your passport dem for tighten Visa rules IJN cos e be like say na naija u wan die put You're trying to defraud the US visa process, you're foul mouthed and unduly aggressive... yet you've done all this "in Jesus name". Lol Now you see why I don't believe the average Nigerian "christian". You're simply a crisis christian... a faith born of poverty and desperation. The US state department rules are immune from your prayers. Follow the rules or stay in Nigeria and keep praying. |

Ramj: @Nwebele LagosNIV would never comment on chances i am sure of that. They would only always make you undsrstand the consequences and that you can take your chance.
In all honesty overstayong your allowed duration always comes with some not soo nice consequences. Coupled with the fact that you came in for visiting and then ended up having your baby.
However since you paid your bills which is always good. It is now about been able to convince the VO and explaining why you overstayed. Like yoy had complications and the likes. The hopefully he/she might be emphathetic enough.
As to chances only God knows that for sure. But whenever you go for the interview have all your documents and possible letter fdom the doctor that you had complications.
Also i advice you avoid drop box so you have a chance to explain yourself. THEN PRAY PRAY PRAY This is my own opinion. Goodluck There is no point telling her to pray. Prayer is not a substitute for good moral character neither is God supportive of lying, fraud and disobeying clear instructions. New rules from the US state department will make it near impossible for her to renew her visa... https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/09/18/us/politics/us-visa-rules-tillerson.html?mcubz=1&referer=http://www.trackitt.com/usa-discussion-forums/i140/1781847065/state-department-tightens-rules-for-visas-to/page/last_page |

Bobo419: Good afternoon everyone,
I've been following this thread for few weeks now. I need help at this point. Please, if you can, I'd appreciate it.
So I'm trying to apply to some schools in the states and I'm stuck at the point of statement of purpose. Did some research and it looks quite a bit uneasy like I'd thought it would be.
Please, I'm open to suggestions and advise from everyone. Or if I can get a sample SOP to leverage on, I certainly won't mind either.
Apologies for disturbing you'll. I look forward to someone helping me.
Thanks. How can you be stuck? It's simply writing what YOU think about your interests, career goals and how the education you seek helps you achieve them. |

oluwagarri: u really did not need to type anything u knw, i only needed individuals who hv knowledge about this already The response you just disparaged was typed to you out of knowledge. Yes, google is your friend. No, your question is not about seeking people with knowledge, its about a lazy fellow looking to take short cuts and waiting for others to do his work for him. You are not interested in studying, but being an economic migrant - real students do their search themselves. If you had any knowledge, you would know that it is almost impossible to be looking for a good scholarship opportunity with barely three months to your intended start date. |

i know am a determined and focused lady situations turned so many things around my life but i feel everything happened for a reason maybe to build me up for greater heights i know going back for another degree in that desired field,i will do so much better in a principled environment i went through alot of emotional trauma/sexual harrasment. yea i still feel pained for such grade but God knows why i know am not dumb my course mates i graduated with in the same department with good cgpa are still looking for jobs which one came one day to my hospital with cv but it happened for me with 3figured pay.
i know if i had atleast 2.5/5 i would be out of the country now but the cgpa has prevented lots from me,but who knows ? The creator knows why i went through all these N/B what am i saying? You don't have to conclude on peoples life many things led to all that happened on that cgpa which i think environment influenced it more am a determined lady destined to do exploits. Sorry ma'am. Apologies unreservedly tendered. |

mrszez: @kaptainafrika and Twoods, i also have same issue with wrong date of birth(month and the day). The agent that filled the form for me then said it does not matter though i was denied. I plan applying again in october myself with correct information along with my family. Just praying that mistake wont go against me. All your kind advise will really appreciated.
Thanks There is no point "praying" at this point. I feel all this recourse to "prayer" is self-serving and dishonest. You should have "prayed" earlier rather than lying about your birthdate. You cannot attempt to cheat the system then "pray" to avoid the consequences. Prepare to explain to the VO should this come up. Be aware though that they do not look favorably on the use of agents. The problem with these types of "mistakes" is that it is hard to explain why you would make a mistake on something so important to you as your birthdate. |

Start here - https://www.ets.org/greYou can either take the general test (quantitative and verbal) or the chemistry subject test (if you are confident enough). If you plan to start school by january (3 months from now), you should have taken your GRE months ago and already be communicating with your school with respect to obtaining the needed paperwork for your visa and opportunities for graduate school funding. You really don't need help, you're simply intellectually lazy. |

But you decide if that is a lie worth living with (yes, not telling the VO that your wife is pregnant is misrepresentation)... considering that visas expire and you will have to renew them, sooner rather than later, they will find out. |

Owohfasa: hello everyone, please i need an experienced person whom processed his/her admission personally to clear this curiosity from my mind on satisfying the proof of financial statement required by most schools in the US during admission process for international students. can someone who has a closing balance of 2M which is not close to the required closing balance of $20,000 for community college and $41,000 for most university secure admission? This question is neither here nor there. You have three options: 1. Have enough money to fund your education 2. Get a scholarship 3. Stay home and go to school in Nigeria. |

gokuu: Okay, so I'll just jump in with some oversight here.
In this 21st century, the tacit rule of any decent conversation is to NOT pose questions that could be answered by a google search in less than 0.0005 seconds.
Instead of: "I finished with a CGPA of 2.8 , does that matter ?" What you wanna ask is: "I've done this, this and that - do you think these can make up for my GPA; how do I highlight my strengths?"
I've found this thread very incisive especially because of the people who come here to share their experiences, opinions, and answer decent questions - even when they do not have to. They put in a lot of effort to address people concerns and worries; it only makes sense that we - as "I nquisitioners" - also put WELL THOUGHT OUT QUESTIONS on here so that we are not repelling.
Maybe before we put questions up, we want to ask: "can this question be answered by google or bing?"
Put up questions that are nuanced and situational, not just bland ones. You're preaching to the choir. 98% of the folks here aren't interested in learning, other than using it as a means to immigrate. The real serious students already started classes this week... those students knew what cgpa score would give them the best chance at a US education and worked hard to achieve it. So don't be surprised at the frankly absurd questions asked here. It's not a stretch to think that someone with a cgpa of 2.8/5 isn't someone who is used to serious research. Most here are a product of the "handout" system of education in Nigerian universities. |

sospunky: Ok...tnx for your candid advice... If I'm to pick btw them I have 13,9 and 5. Which Should I pick...the oldest or youngest. Your children are about the age when they have to go to school, which means you'll be using public schools which neither you nor your spouse are paying into. Any person with a brain knows this is simply an immigration scheme. |

dayjeee: sir, what I meant is the prospect of securing job in the U.S and good schools for it. Thanks That's what you should be doing. No one can do it for you. The time you spend here hailing people and responding to posts would be better spent figuring out what you want to do to further your education - what school, degree, cost of study, how good the school and program is - and feasibility of parlaying that into a well-paying job here that gives you the chance to stay here permanently. Rather you're busy asking others to go do the search for you... well, you don't seem to be in a hurry. |

Have been hearing about STEM courses but I have never done any research until today,(gokuu's discussion on the GRE thread inspired me anyway). I found out that there are some courses that relate to my discipline of which strategic intelligence caught my attention. I made some research about schools and I found schools such as IWP, university of pittersburg etc. Pls I need suggestions from you guys concerning the course and schools. thanks Nobody can give you suggestions as to what to do with your life. |

jenny2007: Guys, This thread is very helpful. I advise everyone trying to apply to read from page 0 to current page before applying. While reading take note of refusals and why they were denied and apply to your case. Ask yourself same questions that were asked others in this forum and find potiential answers here too. Also read the successful ones and take note of questions asked and how the applicant replied. Read the pages like you're preparing for an important job interview or even and then PRAY. I ALWAYS visit the travel page on this site before applying for any country's visa and follow same guidelines listed and I have always been successful. That and prayers. Secondly, be confident while standing in front of the visa officer at the embassy. They can smell fear even as soon as they see you. Make direct eye contact with them and chat (not talk ) with them like you're having a normal day to say conversation with a familiar friend. Thirdly, Do NOT let any agent film your form for you becos they could fill in an information about you that isn't correct and when you are interviewed and asked a question based on what the agent filled in you start looking like a complete nutter. If you must fill the forms with an agent make sure that you do it TOGETHER and be the one to tell him what to fill INFRONT of you before submitting the form online. Pls when asked you're salary don't go and put millions even if you earn it. I filled 200k as my monthly salary but i earn way more than that in a month. These people already think that an applicant is a potiential immigrant so it is up to you to prove that you are not migrating and will come back after your trip. Why you write that you earn million a they think that you're trying hard to get them to believe you. Just be yourself! Fourthly, study the form that you filled online like the bible (or Koran) becos the interview questions will come from there. If you've been denied before and are re-applying you must remember what you filled in the previous applications becos you may still be asked questions based on previous applications especially if you were denied before. Had your circumstance changed? Make sure that you stick strictly to what you wrote on the form while applying (whether truth or not pls stick to what you filled ). By the way, also stick to what you wrote on your form while arriving at your POE too. For those that want to travel from another city then transit to the final destination while there, make sure you hold an onward ticket on the bus or local airline over there. Guys, anyone can get the visa whether single or married. Just defend what you have on your form and pray and be confident. I'm single and God gave me mine on first trial. I travelled and came back home to my business. For those going for visits to friends and relations make sure that the person inviting you isn't there illegally and do not owe taxes. Those going for forums and conference make sure you get as much info about it and it better to related to your field of work. Speaking of your field of work make sure that you know your job responsibilites very well and if asked mention it the way you filled it online. Those people are programmed like robots o so make sure you stick to your Info online. One of my aunties and her family got this visa on virgin passports. She's never even been to cotonou. Prepare ( read the thread here from page 0) and pray then fill your form correctly. Goodluck guys and may God grant everyone here their heart desires. They are not. They are simply doing a honest job, in dedication to their country and its laws. I understand that this feels foreign to a people who live as if laws don't exist. |
