Please anybody with an answer to this?
Your visa does not allow you to simply chill in the US.

Well... Firstly I think what happened today is not fair.
Was supposed to accompany my aunt who's having a laser eye surgery at Pennsylvania.
V.O: morning
Me: morning how are you
(Passed passport for scanning)
V.O: what's your purpose of travel
Me: I'm accompanying my aunt going for a medical examination
v.O: do you have any supporting document?
Me: passed it to him
Then he started typing almost for 5 mins and checking every page over and over
V.O: where are you traveling to.
Me: told him.
V.O: have you been out of Nigeria
Me: Yes, to UAE. Visited Dubai and two other Emirates
V.O: married or single
Me: single
V.O: kids
Me ; none
And I heard the sorry message and got a blue sheet.
My AUNTY has her visa already and we were supposed t travel next week. Now she has no one to accompany her which is a big problem for her as she's having a surgery.
I was told the V.O should have called the doctor for verification... But none of that was done
I feel sad cos when I called my aunt she was almost crying and confused about what to do
No ties. The embassy doesn't care that you wanted to go support your aunt going for surgery. As they've said time and time again - every visa applicant must qualify for a visa on their own merit.

Please to the noble house, I really want you guys to vert my transcript which I intend pouring out to the VO soon, I have asked God for just few questions from the ones mentioned below. I believe that my prayers would be answered. Here I go;

Sai: Good Morning Ma
VO: Good morning.
Sai: How was you night?
VO: Very well thank you and yours?
Sai: Good.
VO: Pass me your i20 and your passport.
Sai: Here they are.
VO: Where are you going to?
Sai: I am going to California Miramar University, San Diego. for my MBA program with a concentration on Technology Management upon a
successful completion, it's required of me to return back to my country Nigeria to use my knowledge to create a grate value for the
company.
VO: How many schools did you apply to and how many gave you admission?
Sai: I only applied to 4 schools; Western Michigan University Wichita University, Marshall university and California Miramar University
VO: Why CMU?
Sai: CMU is ranked one of the best business schools in the states, 10# to be precised and they have a well structured curriculum which cuts
across my career and also having the faculty ration of 14:1, I believe its a favorable place to learn. I also had a web chat with
some of the university students, they told me that majority of their lecturers and well experienced and have been in the filed for so long,
that also gave me the confidence to further my application process when I was admitted in the school
VO: what was your Undergraduate course?
Sai: Petroleum Engineering.
VO: Which School?
Sai: Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State Nigeria.
VO: When did you graduate?
Sai: I graduated 2011, immediately after my graduation I joined my In-laws building construction company as a site foreman/clerk, Site
Engineer, Assistant project Manager and Project Manager in-view.
Sai: I am an assistant, Project Manager in a big building construction company in Lekki Lagos State Nigeria.
VO: How long have you worked with the Company?
Sai: 4 years 6 months to be specific
VO: Who would be sponsoring your trip?
Sai: Oh My In-law whom I work for, the CEO of (the company Name)
VO: Do you have his statement of account?
Sai: Sure I have both his treasury bill account and the dividend account statement, I mean the returns account.
VO: Pass it to me.
Sai: Sure Ma.
VO: I can see you have applied before right?
Sai: Yes early this year ma, April 18th to be precise.
VO: And why were you denied Visa?
Sai: I guess based on family ties issues, but I wasn't given the chance to express myself on that, that I will be coming back to take up my work
here in Nigeria and moreover my purpose of travel was to honor a friends graduation ceremony.
VO: What has this program got to offer you?
Sai: It would offer me so much. Technology is taking over the entire world but the management of it helps one not to abuse it so I would be
studying more on how to manage the technology, inculcate that into my everyday project so as to get my work delivered on time and with
less effort.
VO: How do you intend to achieve all that?
Sai: (Smile) well, I would take 13 core courses, having 6 electives to choose just 3 from that making it a total of 16 courses with a credit unit of
48. some courses like Operational management, Project management, Strategic management, Operational cost, Technology and computer
innovation. Which would help me fit into the professional world

VO: Okay I will be approving your visa, please keep your i20 and Sevies receipt very well because you will be needing that at POE

And I will thank baba God first, those who worked on me vetting my transcript, last I will smile and leave the hall....lol... Please feel free to check on my transcript and make some corrections as I wouldn't mind and also ask me any other possible questions that would come up making reference to my transcript please.
There is a lot wrong with your write up and it exposes the danger of 1. Not having a serious goal to study other than using the F1 as an avenue to run away from Nigeria; 2. Relying too much on what others post here rather than coming up with your own answers.

Lets go through them...

1. Your response as to why you chose CMU is generic and boring... its the same old "best in the world", low faculty to student ratio, curiculum etc... there are literally thousands of schools in the US that offer that and more. What is unique about CMU? Frankly it is ok to state that you selected a school because it has a small population (CMU has a total population of 319) - there are some people who don't like large schools and that is totally acceptable. It is also ok to choose a school because of a more manageable tuition bill, not everyone can afford the cost of an MBA at Wharton and the VOs will understand. The point is, be original!

2. Your undergrad degree is in Petroleum Engineering, you worked 5 years as a construction engineer and now you want to do an MBA? It seems you have no idea what it is you really want to do as a career.

3. Your inlaw/company CEO is your sponsor - be prepared to explain why someone other than your parents is willing to spend millions to send you to school...

4. What does the program offer you - technology only? You can learn to be more efficient at work without spending millions on a US degree. Get a better line.

5. Your response to "how do you intend to achieve all that" sounds like that of a teenager, not a well-rounded professional seeking to pursue an advanced degree.

I have to give the VOs kudos... i can't imagine listening to these type of obviously fake stories all day. But of course... your "god" will do everything for you, including reading your books.

I intend to attend a conference soonest which the organizer will send me an invitation letter and a guarantee letter to take care of all my stay in the US. Please my questions is as follow:

(1) should I fill the DS-160 form that I have a relation in the US? Because the 2013 DV lottery form has a name of my relation.

(2). I have a stable business and how much should I fill as my monthly earning?

(3) what documents should I include in my file since am a business man
How did you make this mistake?

@TWoods wow!

I just saw your post and I'm indeed very shocked but can't hold anything against you.
You said I'm not a GENUINE student like you knew me before.
Well it's all good. I'm happy you have all the information in this world and are not ignorant to anything.
Maybe you didn't read a post I make about having 2 friends in that same school and it was their recommendations I followed to apply.
Ps: they are all studying and whatever they plan to do after is not for me to decide. You can pm me for their details if you want to find out more.

They are also funding themselves and I'm sure if they knew about this thread and the opportunities abound, like I now do, they would have probably taken other options trust me.
I only got to know about this thread after I was denied the first time and I have never claimed to know too much.
I did everything I did on their advise seeing that they already succeeded getting admission and Visa for said school so it was easy for me to think I won't also have a problem and follow people with testing result and not my own counsel with my ass still in naija.
Anyway, thanks regardless. I don't think I'll need to prove to you that I'm a student cos it's already your opinion.

It is well with all of us.
The onus of proving that you are a genuine student is entirely up to you, not the VO. From the above, its clear you applied to the school only because you have friends there, not because you took the time to research and find a school that truly met YOUR educational needs and goals. It took me 3 seconds to find out that Penn State also offers a masters of project management program with tuition rates that are just about on par with what Harrisburg Uni offers.

Your friends were lucky... a one-building "school" like Harrisburg Uni does not convince anyone that you really are interested in studying as opposed to using it as a means to emigrate to the US.

I hail you all, i went for my Interview in Lagos today which was by 8:45am and was interviewed by a young lady in window 1 i was denied below is my Transcript

Me: good morning
VO: your passport please
Me: I passed it to her
VO: where are you going to
Me: San Antonio
VO: why
Me: i hope to attend .... i mentioned the name of the conference, the organizer and people it is for
, but she cuts me short
VO: Have you traveled out of Nigeria before
Me: Yes to Ghana and Dubai
VO: where do you work
Me: I told her where i work, my position and started telling her my duties then she cuts me short
VO: Are you married
Me: Yes
VO: do you have children
Me: I have a child
VO: Sorry ....You can reapply
Me: Thank you

All these communication was within 1min, and she has been dishing out blue paper to those before me that made the person behind me had to excuse herself that she wants to use the toilet and went and stand to be interviewed in another window, No white paper on her table only blue

The thing is that i really want to attend the conference as that is the only conference organized for people in my field of work which will really help me as individual and my organization at large, though the conference is in November my company will be paying for it " though i can also afford it" Please i need your suggestion if i should reapply or will it look as if i am desperate
I suppose your company is sponsoring your trip to this conference? If that is so, you should have led with that right away. You do not expect the VO to believe that your company is going to let you walk away for a week or more for something that is of no benefit to them... neither do you expect her to believe that you are personally funding a trip that is supposedly going to benefit you in your job.

Sad day....
So I was delayed today for the second time in Abuja.
I am honestly just lost for words right now.
This is not the transcript I thought I'll be writing today but God knows best.
If you recall I was the guy denied on June 22nd and the VO didn't return my passport to me. That's how I found this thread through a friend. After back and forth for two weeks I finally retrieved the passport and a mail saying I should apply again at no cost. Called the call center to book the free appointment and they did. On getting there on 24th of July for my interview, was told the mail they sent me was a mistake, that I should pay another 64k and come back. I did and here I am now. My full transcript below.

I was interviewed by a white guy in window 9. I was happy it was a guy at least. And was so confident all through.

Vo: morning.
Me: morning.

Vo: so why did you choose to go to Harrisburg University?

Me: I'm going to Harrisburg University because they offer a concentration in CAPM (defined it) in their Msc Project management and I spoke with professor Stephen Onu, a Nigerian, who has an ongoing research on Project Execution using Agile lean model and he has invited me to join his research upon my arrival.

Vo: Did you consider any other school?

Me: Yes I considered Ashland University, (vo cuts in) but why did you pick harrisburg? I wanted to say the admission is pending but he didn't let me. So I said the concentration harrisburg has is a unique advantage for me and later said that Ashland admission is pending.

Vo: so have you traverted before

Me: yes I have been to Ghana.

Vo: so where did you do your undergraduate?

Me: I did my university degree at University of Abuja, studied political science and graduated in 2008 after which I joined a media company as a proofreader and from there I joined maritimo resources, a construction firm, and later to where I presently work. At so and so company as Sales operations manager and listed all my duties.

All the while he was typing and nodding his head.

Vo; then he asked so who is paying your tuition?

Me: my dad

Vo; what does he do?

Me: A building contractor and owns a furniture company.

Then he keeps typing for sometime and in my mind I was like finally I have gotten it......then all of a sudden blue paper.
My people I am so sad. But I thank ProfOjah1234 for his help. He really helped me and everything almost went as me and him discussed except for the delay. Sigh! Were do I get another 64k? School resumes on 25th. Damn I'm sad.
This plat form has really helped me and that's why I decided that I must write this transcript.
Frankly i'm not surprised. The VOs are no fools. You are not a genuine student.

I live 2 hours from Harrisburg and have done so for 5 years. Your post was the first time i ever heard that a Harrisburg University exists! shocked ... and that's in the same PA that has Lehigh University, Temple, Penn State, UPenn, LaSalle, DeSales etc. Pick a serious school biko. The VOs know that you're all heading to these schools, not because you truly want to study but because you see them as easy routes to the US. Telling them that you chose the school because they offer unique skills you're interested in learning is a joke. We all know there are at least 10 schools between NJ/PA that offer far more and would be more valuable on your resume.

Here's one thing you may have noticed... you will NEVER find a student applying for a visa to MIT, Harvard, UPenn being denied a visa (especially if they were also offered scholarships).

Was denied visa today for the second time this month at Lagos CG. Please help me review my transcripts.

Vo- Tell me where you are going to in US?

Me- Bowling Green state university in ohio for my bachelor's degree Exercise Science.

Vo- Why bgsu?

Me- they have low students ratio majoring in exercise science. (VO CUTS IN)

VO- Why is that important to you?

Me- it's provide an opportunity for an intensive individualized academy program for students, making students have the best use of their academy skills and time management's. Also, BGSU involve undergraduates students in research programs.( Vo was nodding).

Vo- Why exercise science?

Me- it's suits my career path to being an athlete trainer and also I will like to know more about using human movements, sports and leisure to benefits human lives and improve well being.

Vo- do you write any exams?

Me- yes I have 2 SAT scores. 830 and 1150.

Vo- what research program did you say bgsu offers for undergraduates?

Me- I was in contact with an associate professor (professor k toldlock) in the university who is undergoing a research as regards prevention and cure of some athlete injuries and was offered a chance to be part of the research.

Vo- name some of the injuries?

Me- hamstring, muscle pull, bone dislocation etc...

V0- I can see you have been out high school for 4 years now...

Me- yes

Vo- what have you been doing ?

Me- upon my high school graduation In 2013, I helped my mother's business as driver, I supply her merchandise to customers from one point to another and in 2014, I joined my local government football club where I play a defensive midfielder in regional competitions till date. I contacted bgsu in 2015 and finished my admission requirements in 2016 November.

(VO paused for like 3 mins and said nothing but staring at the monitor, naxo he gave me the blue paper o.
They are not convinced that you are a genuine student. Your reason for selecting your school is generic, applies to most US schools. Also, exercise science? Why can't you do that in Nigeria?

Travel › Re: UK Spouse Visa Refused Under 320 (11) For Obtaining University Degrees/appeal- by TWoods(m): 3:43am On Jul 31, 2017
Mfdoom1:
Hi everyone,

I applied for an entry clearance as a partner of a British citizen. My application was refused on 320 (11). The two main points made by the ECO are: overstaying the 6months limit and breaching the conditions attached to my leave by undertaking University degrees. There was no mention of aggravating circumstances in my case.

I moved to britain as a child, with my family, and stayed there for 12 years (I was granted a 10 year visit visa). The decision to settle down in the country was taken by my parent. I met my wife in 2014, a year before the 10 year visit visa expired. The the 10 year visa expired the year after (2015), and I moved out of UK in February 2017, at my own expense, without the home office having any knowledge of me overstaying, detaining me or forcefully sending me out.

During the 10 year period, I undertook studies and gained two university degrees at a time when my visa didn't allow me to do so. However, I paid for the degrees, and never used student loan or any sort of benefit. I was able to enrol with utility cards and bank card, as I didn't have any other form of ID (driver's licence, residence card etc). Although I've met all the other requirements for the spouse visa, my application has been refused for 'contriving in a significant way to frustrate the immigration rules', without any mention of the aggravating circumstances attached to 320 (11), as I've been told that studying is not an aggravating circumstance. Also, the phrase 'aggravating circumstances' was not used in the refusal letter, although 320 (11) was used.

It may be important to state here that I have neither been involved in any criminal activity, nor benefitted from public benefits, during my stay in Britain. I also did not sought or partake in any form of employment during my stay in Britain.

I sent an appeal 2 weeks ago, with the help of a lawyer, and also got my MP involved. What are my chances in this case? Can the decision be overturned before hearing? I'll really like to hear from you.
This is a quite lengthy stream of excuses that are ultimately not useful.

You had a 10 year visa, with a 6 month limit at a time. You flouted both with incredible impunity. First, you overstayed a 6 month visit by 11 years and 6 months!!! Next you deliberately flouted the rules governing your visit visa to earn degrees, knowing full well that this was against the law.

Everything else you have to say is meaningless. The UK isn't Nigeria where people can waive egregious breaking of the law simply because you were not "involved in any criminal activity". You'd be lucky if the UK ever allows you to get a visa again. You frankly don't deserve one and folks like you are the reason its getting more and more difficult for genuine applicants. Your appeal should not be granted IMO.

Good evening everyone. I have been a silent reader but now i need ur opinions.
I applied for b1/b2 visa in the month of May this year and i was denied.i was invited for my cousin's graduation. The questions i was asked were, purpose of travel, status, what do i do.And i answered respectively, going for my cousins's graduation, single,i run the family business and i also applied for my postgraduate studies at ********.The VO stressed the part of the studies that have i started or am i still processing and i said still processing, the next thing i got was the blue slip..... so painful.......Well fast forward to now.
I got an invite from my sister who is a permanent resident.she will be the sponsor and will be sending all the paper works, but now i am still single and still handling the family business but now work with the federal government and just started the govt job like 4 months ago. Tho now i didn't get in for the Msc. Pls what are my chances of getting the visa.
The VO didn't think you had sufficient ties but was trying to see if he/she could use your ongoing postgraduate studies as evidence of a tie. The minute you said you were still processing your admission (which means you are not financially committed to it yet and hence can abandon it at anytime), the blue slip was the only logical conclusion. Get more ties and try again.

When my visa was approved, I was on family planning and my baby was still exclusively breastfeeding. Didn't know at the time. It was in my first interview I didn't mention the pregnancy though I knew as I wasn't properly informed (told to mention only if asked specifically).

Yes I made a mistake because I was misinformed, was honest in my explanation to the VO. Last two denials were over a year apart.

Wats the way forward?

Don't intend to try Canada as I heard u have to hide your pregnancy status and that's not an option to consider.
To be honest with you, your apologies and claims of ignorance would not gain you much sympathy at the embassy. Your apology is a dime a dozen. Put yourself in their shoes, everyone claims to be honest, after the fact. The big problem is that this will be on your file for good and there is no way to remove it. The next VO will see it and the next one, and the next one. The more you apply, the more desperate you seem and the more you validate their suspicion that your intent isn't what you claim it is. Which is unfortunate.

The way forward is to try another country. UK maybe, if Canada is not an option.

My visa application with family has been denied twice (family vacation and the other family vacation+childbirth) in abj, even though I was totally honest in my response and explanation and apologized at last interview.

At both instances, my previous interview (didn't mention I was pregnant at embassy. Mentioned pregnancy and vacation at POE was given less than required period to stay. my doctor advised against travelling back so applied for extension) was referenced.

Please any advice on how to address the concern (highlighted above) .

@abujaniv
AbujaNIV already responded to your question. Your case should be a lesson for all those who mysteriously forget about their pregnancies at their visa interviews, only to miraculously remember once they've gotten a visa. Just because CBP says you "may" apply for an extension of your stay does not mean you should. If that was the case, no one would ever leave the US since they could simply continue to apply for extensions of stay indefinitely. You tried to play the system twice... and got caught. You likely won't get a US visa again. Tough luck. Try Canada.

Hello everybody. I went for students visa interview with my hubby on F2. I need to travel with him as we are young couple without any kid. Please gurus in the house kindly analyse my transcript.

Vo: why did u choose Morgan State university
Me: because asides having an exceptional curriculum that suits my program of study, they also have provision for facilities, equipment and resources suitable for my research exploration which is on..... So cuts in
It was quite easy to refuse you. You've been married 3 years, no kids and your husband is leaving his job to go sit at home all day while you get a masters degree? The VO is no fool. He/She knows that you're simply going to the US to have your kids, at which point you will not leave the US. Feel free to deny that this was your plan all along.

Hey, you need to watch your mouth.

This time, I will pretend like I don't see anything.
I read through his post and he said absolutely nothing insulting. He was simply making a point. This Nigerian mentality of thinking people owe us respect is absurd.

I know this is probably setting the thread back but I need someone to explain how to get into a cheap college for undergraduates or certificate course in USA. I have searched but no cheap on with tuition under $5k and with cheap housing probably a state where housing is cheap. Please if you know any schools please let me know asap. I would like to know if to reg for SAT and TOEFL
Your best bet would be to go to school in Nigeria then. Its cheap and housing won't be too expensive.

Vo: have i interviewed you before. Me: no sir. Vo: how many schools did you applied to? Me: four. VO : why cwu. Me: I choose cwu because i was awarded an academic merit scholarship which makes the tuition fee very affordable for my parents. Furthermore i also ( VO cut in) what qualify for this scholarship. Me: my excellent grades from highschool transcript and also my tests scores. Vo: who is sponsoring you. Me: my dad. Before know I will be approving your bla bla bla and gave me the special paper. It's all God. Never give up. Imagine it's my 3rd attempt but God did it
So help me understand, why did your "god" decide to put you three visa interviews before granting this one?

i know this doesnt concern me but i think there sud be respect of personal opinions. its totally uncalled for to say this such of statements to another person. if you dont appreciate my point of view, simply discard it rather than calling others names and all. i believe we are all matured and we sud act that way. thanks, just offering my own "two cents" as other people say
You should save your breath, some people don't really have lives outside of the web. They thrive on saying "shocking" stuff online to validate themselves and make themselves feel better. What can you do? I would save my breath for more important things.

Who is Twoods? A carpenter or an animal?
If you think about it, we (including you) are all animals.
