Newbiee: AU must stand for constitutionality and not allow the western powers to influence their decision on this. The Mugabe era must be allowed to end in a constitutional way, not through the backdoor because of his wife's excesses. This is a silly post. What have the western powers done other than to keep quiet and ignore Zimbabwe? We love to blame the western powers, while steadfastly refusing to hold ourselves accountable for our gross incompetence and inability to make anything work. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Zimbabwe Crises Is Like A Military Coup - AU by TWoods(m): 7:59pm On Nov 15, 2017 |
cooljude: It's a coup, sanctioned by western government (it's obvious from their reporting) and it shouldn't be recognised in Africa because it would signal double standard and embolden military personnel to start plotting coup.
Mugabe might be different thing to different persons but this action might further lead to the degradation democracy in Africa. I hope AU takes the right stand on thus issue. Exactly which democracy are you talking about, with respect to Zimbabwe? |

kristinbaby: Congratulations. This is so easy. Have you or your husband travel out before? It pains me when I read transcript of how visa officer keep asking why do you want to give birth in US, why not UK. Someone was rejected based on this, despite giving reasons why not UK, she was denied. May be the VO is expecting her to say because of duo citizenship. God is great!!! Let's be honest, that is the REAL reason you choose to have your baby in the US, not the UK or South Africa, Ghana or even Nigeria. It's ok to be honest. It's not against the law to want a US passport for your child. |

Billyonaire: My response was geared towards the very negative blow back this news has generated on this 'Nigerian' forum which I consider primarily ignorant, and that is the basis of my point of view. It does not mean that the 'white employers' who deny him jobs are smarter.
Any individual or corporate entity who sees tattoo as a vice is moronic, ignorant and biased. Any contrary opinion to this is just an opinion that needs to be re-screened and those with the mindset need education on how to reason properly. This is a senseless statement. Google, ExxonMobil, Facebook, Amazon - all are corporate giants earning far more than your country spends as its entire yearly budget. You will never find ANY of its public-facing executives with such tattoos. I will bet my last dollar that those people are not "moronic, ignorant or biased". They are simply smart people who understand that branding is a key aspect of remaining competitive. Tattoos may not be bad, but lets be frank, such a tattoo tells me more about the person than anything he/she has to say at an interview. That is a person who is likely impulsive, lacks the capacity for good judgement and shortsighted. Those are traits i would not want in a potential employee. |

Ability247: Spot on. I toyed with this idea. It was actually one of my plan Bs in case anything goes wrong. Then I realised how hard it is to find a cosigner despite having lots of relations here in the States. Then it dawned on me that once you get here, even if all your lineage is here, you are to a large extent OYO. But if you are a believing Christian, God will always be with you and He has been making a way for me. Well, that's a testimony for another day. Truth is, Lagosismyhome is very correct - that stuff needs a cosigner and getting one is harder than one would think/imagine. I kinda understand why though... everybody is over cautious, nobody wants even the scent of future wahala. Lol. Only a fool would co-sign for you. For starters, why would anyone trust a Nigerian? Sorry... that’s the hard cold fact. Second, as the co-signer, I am responsible for the entire cost should you fail to pay back and abscond to wherever you wish. Not only am I stuck with the bill, my credit is ruined for good. Third, that loan will be a problem when I need to purchase a car or need a mortgage. |

Pidgin2: I wished him good luck initially but i was called out for mentioning tax, that's all. I'm still wishing him good luck tho I’d rather pay 40% tax in the US than zero tax in Nigeria. In over a decade, I have seen power go out twice... once for maintenance and once when we had a bad hurricane. In both cases, I was inundated with warning emails days prior and power was back within 10 hours. Water flows like clockwork, schools are free up to college level, the 911 system works efficiently and we have the best healthcare in the world... even your president comes to the UK or Germany for healthcare. Shame on you. Your effective tax rate is lower, but other than paying exhorbitant salaries so Dino melaye can pose with exotic cars on Facebook, what exactly is your tax used for to benefit you? By the time you calculate how much it costs just to live as middle class in Nigeria, you’re paying far more than a 40% tax on a lower salary. |

i got nothing in this world myself..my word and my balls..i dont break it. be easy when you try to correct people...they will understand better instead of acting like say their destiny is controlled by the knowledge of what you know. Your post is quite dumb and frankly is the problem with Nigeria. I don't post as a consular officer, i am not one. I simply post as a concerned Nigeria who is sick of attitudes like yours. They are the reason you would kill to get the right to live in the West, even though you seem to endorse the same corruption that is the bane of underdevelopment of Nigeria. Good luck to you. |

Even as a kid till I was 16 or so. I tot d only place visa can be giving is from agent office coz dz wia my families go to in case of travelling or anytin.
Dnt blame her. No one is perfect he rfaukts are close to little and if she's a fraudster like u undermined she wud HV acted more perfect and not suck up at the sight of the promise land. That is your view... it is unfortunately not shared by actual visa officers. The issue of using visa agents has been exhaustively discussed in the travel section and actual VOs have given their views. You are held solely responsible for any information that is false in your application. If we all stopped trying to excuse fraud and dishonesty, we may get to a place where we are not all running away to countries where these types of issues are taken extremely seriously. |

cristianisraeli: i get your point but she can still claim she didnt know
but we still dont know if the visa was fake or something
she might be going to israel on pilgrimage visa or so
no one knows for sure
she didnt commit any hard crime against the state of israel so am sure she can still apply for UK or US That is not possible. Signing a visa application is an implicit agreement that you are aware of every information provided. In the US, the signed application is equivalent to a sworn statement in court, that is why the US warns strongly against using agents... claiming "i did not know" is not a valid excuse. Only in Nigeria is lying, fraud and deceit considered "not a hard crime"... and we wonder why we all want to run away to other countries who take falsification of documents very seriously. |

cristianisraeli: theres always penalty for deportation and reasons for deportation
they deport people for many reasons
giving wrong answers or even behaving suspicious at ben gurion
she would be able to apply for UK or US as long as shes truthful and state the true reason for her deportation from the state of israel Think for a second, you tell the US or UK visa officer that you were deported for falsifying a visa... and you think they will then stamp one of theirs in your passport? Sure. |

I had been deported before and i still got F1 visa 4 years ago. I really don"t understand while Nigerians generally are pessimist. All they see is the dark side of life Good luck to you both. I think the problem isn't that Nigerians are pessimistic, it is a question of why Nigerians have a predilection for doing things the crooked way. If we were simply honest, threads like this would not exist and we would not require a visa to go anywhere. Also we need to be sure that we are describing the same situation. I doubt the UK or US would be willing to grant you a visa knowing that you've once been deported for falsifying a visa. But as i said, feel free to try. |

def111: My question is did your sister went to the embassy her self and collect the visa herself ?.... If not it's 100% fake.. Look for army go beat that agent. Collect your money too... If this is true then your sister can forget about going to the US, Canada, the UK etc. The question of whether you have ever been deported from any country is asked on their application forms. Stating the use of a falsified visa as the reason is sure to lead to an automatic denial. Sometimes, pure honesty is better than endless fasting and prayer. |
