Davedgr8: How do u mean bycut bro? does it our immigration officers re wack nd didn't knw there job to our dem take off if any rule was actually breached? There’s little doubt that your sister either traveled on a fake visa or lied on her application. The desperation is obvious. Why else would you try to apply as a pilgrim when you know the ultimate purpose is to go squat illegally in another man’s country? And you claim to have been praying. To what god? A god who condones lying and deceit? |

SmartMugu: Only immigrant visas and H1B visas will give you work permits. Of course everyone with the visa lottery from Nigeria back then can work for any employer, but I don't think that still includes Nigeria in its current landscape. Fiance visas (K1 - I think that's what it's called) too with some processing will make you work for any employer in the US. You can be married to an American and that's another type of visa that can make you work with any employer as long as you're qualified for the job. On the other side, H1B visa restricts you to just one employer and to me, that's some type of slavery. H1B visa holders usually get paid less than those with citizenship or work permits.
That's why I recommended you reading through the link I sent earlier. I personally don't need any visas because I'm a US citizen as well as a Nigerian. I only know about these stuff I shared because I mix with a lot of Africans with their different types of visas and also have worked with non-Africans from various countries lamenting about their restrictions because they are restricted beyond their counterparts with citizenships or greencards.
To be frank, I don't know much about visas because I really never really need one unless I need to come to Nigeria with my US passport, but I have a Nigerian passport for that. I'd suggest you research all the list of all the visas the US has. It's only a handful of them. I guarantee you tourist, student, and visitors visitors visas are intended to make u spend your money here in the US. You can't work with them. If you're smart enough though, you can beat the system and get your US citizenship within 3 to 3 years. Just my few cents. Much of what you wrote here is not true. The h1b visa does not restrict you to one employer, you can transfer your h1b to any employer of your choice at any time. By law, h1b workers cannot be paid less than other workers. It is a violation of the Lca that is filed with the labor department prior to obtaining an h1b. The rule is that the h1b worker must be paid the prevailing wage. Any employer caught paying you less will likely face fraud charges and you will lose your h1b. It’s a shame that you encourage people to beat the system by being “smart”. |

LagosismyHome: Easy to spot an oldie ....in my time as well i20 was always shipped free to applicants but now its on the applicant expenses .
I guess one school might have started it as cost savings /shifting and majority of schools foĺlowed . very common practice now Lol true. I guess it’s fair to say in my time too, schools happily mailed you brochures, application forms, housing vacancies, city/bus maps, nightlife ideas... all in one big package for free. You got personal calls to tell you that you had been granted admission and your i20, admission letter and fellowship package was mailed to you free. Times have indeed changed and this was a mere 15 years ago. |

zoemummy: My 2cents on this question is that the application of medicaid (involving tax payers funds) must require some form of 'signed' documentation wherein you'd need to complete and sign a request form. The request will be processed and you accept the financial aid. I reckon it is not something that can be received by the beneficiary 'unknowingly'. I stand to be corrected though.
See screenshots below and note the key words 'application' and 'enrolment'. They are both very conscious activities. This is actually not always true. The hospital can simply charge you a low price and get reimbursed by Medicaid without you knowing. Some hospitals get Medicaid funding precisely to account for “losses” hospitals are expected to incur by offering services to the indigent. |

Bubbles123: Ayo pls something has been bothering me about payment of bills, pls help clarify, is there a difference between discount and financial assistance? Some hospitals will say they are giving "financial assistance " to self pay individuals. I'm really scared it may be a baptized form of Medicaid. Pls help When in doubt, ask your hospital to avoid stories that touch the heart. Most hospitals will not be able to differentiate between self pay because you’re a non-citizen and self pay because you are indigent and can not afford health insurance. The government grants hospitals in low income areas (the type of hospitals folks here frequent in houston) Medicaid payments to cover for the indigent. They may erroneously apply it to you without even thinking. That’s why the VOs are often suspicious. The costs of birthing here continues to amaze me, no one else I know pays that low... and I’ve got siblings and cousins who have had babies in the last year. |

LagosismyHome: while i do agree totally ... however
The US has not put a law against making a switch hence I stated what the process is While it is true that there is no law against that, you do have to realize that the loophole is available only because the USCIS does not intend that you have to return back to your home country anytime you are unable to attend your SÉVIS-registered school for reasons outside your control. It was not meant to become a routine way to beat visa interviews as it has clearly become. |

LagosismyHome: you do not have to physically report to the MBA school ... but need to formally go through the process of transfering school and SEVIS. This process can be done virtually via email or phone so once you get to the USA then contact the MBA School and advice on the need to change
also you need to check the MBA school requirements. some schools inist on students spending a semester some schools have no requirement so you need to confirm We should not encourage people to do this. It is patently unfair to the US process and we want to avoid making this a common situation where people obtain visas for schools they have zero intention of attending, as a means of beating the visa interview process. We need to have standards as a people. |

If i'm done for, please suggest schools that are still open for Admission into Masters, without GRE. I will appreciate big time Thanks!!! Fulfilling 90% of requirements mean nothing. Considering many other students likely applied who met 100% of requirements, why do you expect to be admitted? This is why I harp on engaging your prospective departments prior and during the admissions process. It guards against surprises like this. |

drakeli: So that you can apply abi? Ok let me help a brother by naming just one which in my opinion is the least of them. You can be making package delivery for amazon if you have a car and tax id number. You don't have to be legal before you can legally have a tax id and a car. You can be doing this while you are busy at other things. I just said this so that you guy should understand I know what I'm saying. Amazon only ask for social security number, but when you offer them your tax id number, they accept it. Remember this is one of the jobs Americans don't wanna do. But you can do it while doing other jobs. You know how many Nigerian illegals that I know working for them using tax id? Of course you people don't know what tax id is.
That's why I said if you don't have your hands on the proper information, you will only be going by popular beliefs that certain things are not possible. Until you meet the actual people. As an individual, you don’t need a tax identification number (ITIN) if you have a social security number. Your illegal pals (not sure why you hang around such if you’re above board yourself) may be working but they are essentially slaves. No means to buy homes, vote or régularité their status. It’s better to live in Nigeria than live with one eye open for the police 24 hours a day. Good luck if that’s what you want to. I certainly love the freedom of being able to leave and come home to the US whenever I please? |
