I attended the interview today at the US embassy with my family. Easy straight forward and family-friendly interview. Of all the documents I gathered for myself and my wife, only my own bank statement and the children's birth certificates were asked for, checked and returned. They didn't even ask anything about or from my wife even though she is also working and even filled self-sponsored. Visa(s) to be collected on Monday.

You dont have a substantive evidence to prove your past trips, so dont mention them. You only get to mention your previous trips if your application is for such embassies' concerned i.e.(France, Germany or UK)....

But they really don't need to know all this, I can get documents stating I'm still my former company and generate pay slips and also get bank statements stating that I'm well loaded, besides my friend in france is working and is quite stable... I can also get his statement of accts if needed

You dont have a stable income earning job, just contracts mostly.
You have no asset.
You are not married.
You almost dont have any tie to Nigeria. Getting that visa will be tough.

The embassy dont want your brother's documents, they want the traveller's.

Please, do not take forged documents for Shengen Visa. You will be discovered and banned.....

Do you have ties to Nigeria such as properties, marriage, job etc. If you anwers are no, then you will find it difficult to secure Shengen Visa from Nigeria.

Since you're with a study permit in SA for three years already, you best bet is to apply from Pretoria and use you school ID card and reference letter from your Department along with proof of sufficient funds, to apply for the visa. That is the country (SA)where your current ties are.....

Interview slots on the US Portal pops up much sooner unlike what you have in the past. Also the fact that you have an error in name can be a problem during your interview as the name contained in the US database for that individual, will be different from what you will be presenting. This can be termed lack of knowledge of your presumed host (a set back in your application).

In order to ensure completeness, adjust your DS-160 form and correct the name error....

If you can fill another DS-160 form and change your appointment date, the better for you. This will put your mind at rest and prepare you psychologically for the interview.

The voting pattern of the Yoruba people of South-West geopolitical zone in the 2015 presidential election may determine who wins and who loses.

In 2011, even though the zone voted the Action Congress of Nigeria in all the elections, they voted more for the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the presidential election. That helped in no small way to swing victory for President Goodluck Jonathan. Many had fingered the ACN leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for that massive vote for Jonathan because of the last-minute discussions he reportedly had with the latter. But that would be saying that the South-West people are sheep that don’t have their own mind. Weeks before the 2011 presidential election, even while talks were on between the Congress for Progressive Change and the ACN, many South-West people had made it clear that they would vote for Jonathan for the Presidency, even though they would vote the ACN in all other elections. The appreciable population of other non-Yoruba residents in the South-West also helped to increase the number of votes Jonathan garnered in the zone.

President Jonathan has not stated clearly whether he will contest the 2015 election. But his unspoken words seem to point more to the fact that he will contest than the other way. Even though he completed the remaining term of his former boss, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, after he died in office on May 5, 2010, and won an election in 2011, he is constitutionally qualified to run for office in 2015.

Ethnicity and religion play a great role in Nigerian politics, and they will play a role in the 2015 election. The North, especially the North-East and the North-West zones, has never hidden its sadness and anger over the loss of presidential power as a result of the illness and death of Yar’Adua. The North feels that it was cheated out of power. Some even alleged that the cheating was pre-planned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo with his choice of Yar’Adua, who was known to have a health condition. Supporters of power rotation felt that Jonathan should have completed Yar’Adua’s term and allowed a Northerner to contest the presidency, so that the North could complete its eight years just like the South. There was some sense of justice in that viewpoint.

But Jonathan and many of his South-South people and some other Nigerians who opposed power rotation felt that given that the South-South or the entire Niger Delta region, the producer of Nigerian oil wealth, had not produced an elected president in Nigeria, even though the North had produced same many times, he should run for office for the sake of justice and fairness. There was also some sense of justice in that point of view. In addition, many wondered if Jonathan were not to contest for the presidency, would the Northerner that would take over from him do only a term and leave office, since Yar’Adua had done about three years of his four-year tenure?

There are those who believe that the rise in violence of the Boko Haram sect after the 2011 elections had direct links with that feeling of loss and cheating that the North had. Even though Boko Haram started as a religious sect, there is no denying that it has had political influence in recent times. Some people have even said that if Jonathan were to drop his political ambition for 2015, Boko Haram would fizzle out.

Before the run-up to the 2011 elections, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and his Congress for Progressive Change, the major challenger to President Jonathan and his Peoples Democratic Party then, handled the merger talks with the Action Congress of Nigeria with some presumptuousness. They presumed that Jonathan would not win the election on the first ballot, since the South-South, South-East and some North- Central voters would vote for him, while the North- West (with its perceived high population) and the North-East would vote for Buhari, with the South- West voting for Mallam Nuhu Ribadu of the ACN, thereby making the election go into a second ballot. Even though the South-West vote was split between Jonathan and Ribadu, but with more going to Jonathan, that made it easier for him to win on the first ballot. That seemed to have taught Buhari and the CPC a lesson that working with the Yoruba and ACN was not just necessary but critical, if the PDP would ever be beaten. But it is true that the South-West vote did not come from only the Yoruba, given the high population of other- Southerners in the South-West, especially in Lagos.

And so, rather than wait till 2015 to commence merger talks, the CPC, ACN, ANPP and a part of the All Progressive Grand Allaince began early, which is a great plus. And rather than the hard lines that characterised the 2011 merger talks, the talks for the merger are being treated with more respect for each other as well as without any pre-conditions.

Anybody who says that the PDP is not rattled by the merger talks of the All Progressives Congress is economical with the truth. The reason the PDP has ruled for 14 unbroken years is because the opposition parties had displayed disunity, pride and greed. Having a united opposition against the PDP is the first step towards thwarting the fulfilment of the prediction of Chief Vincent Ogbulafor in 2008 that the ruling party would rule Nigeria for 60 years!

For the 2015 elections, however, many scenarios exist. First, Jonathan may decide not to run, which is most unlikely. He may present himself for the primaries and lose to another candidate, given that some governors and former President Olusegun Obasanjo are working against his ambition. Even though this scenario will further show our democracy as exemplary, it is also far-fetched, as no Nigerian President has lost his party’s primaries.

So, if Jonathan is running in 2015, the APC will be concerned about the team that can beat him. Buhari, Ribadu and Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau – all former presidential candidates of the merging parties – are possible candidates. Even a PDP member – the incumbent Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal – has been mentioned as a possible candidate of the APC. In the South, there are Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola, Adams Oshiomhole, Rochas Okorocha, Tinubu and Senator Chris Ngige.

The combination that will likely attract the highest number of votes from the North and South-West may be that of Buhari-Fashola or Buhari-Tinubu. If Indeed Tambuwal is an option, combining with these two men from the South-West would also attract votes for the party. But there is a snag in that. The key figures from the North are all Muslims and the two key figures from the South-West are also Muslims. In the South-West, religion does not matter in politics. But in other parts of Nigeria, it does. Presenting a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015 will not go down well with the North-Central, South-East, and South-South. Even though it worked in 1993 for the Abiola-Kingibe ticket, it will attract deep suspicion now. In 1993, even though there had been religious crises in Nigeria, there had not been anything on the scale of the current Boko Haram carnage. This is a serious point that the PDP will use – albeit surreptitiously — to campaign against the APC.

There is also the possibility of using an Igbo or South-Southerner as presidential or vice- presidential candidate to blunt the influence of Jonathan in those two regions. But the minus is that the North is so much focused on the Presidency now that any arrangement that does not have a Northerner as the presidential candidate in 2015 may not attract deep interest. A North-Central Christian presidential candidate with a Southern Muslim running mate is also an option. But it is no longer a secret that the one-North stance of the North died around 1975 when Gen. Yakubu Gowon was overthrown. The destiny of the North-Central or Middle Belt, as they are better known, and the rest of the North is not inextricably linked together anymore. The bloodletting in Plateau State since 2001 has worsened the situation. A Middle Belt Christian candidate will not sound to the North-East and North-West – which are most times referred to as the “core North” to further underscore that division – as a candidate that has come to assuage the feeling of cheating that the “core North” suffered by the loss of the presidency due to Yar’Adua’s death.

The voting pattern of the South-East, South-South and North-Central may not change much if Jonathan contests in 2015. He may not garner as many votes as he did in 2011, depending on his performance and perception between now and 2015. If he is perceived as “improved” in his performance between now and 2015, his chances will be brighter. But if the APC makes a strategic choice of presidential candidate and running mate, the APC will be a major threat. Whatever happens, whoever the Yoruba vote for en masse may have an advantage. And it is obvious that the PDP and APC are aware of this and are consequently courting the Yoruba.

The Yoruba have another advantage. They are the only group in Nigeria that has been happy being in the opposition. Other ethnic groups usually feel like a fish out of water whenever out of power. So they will take their time to decide on whom to support. Gradually, the Yoruba are moving to the centre of Nigerian politics on their own terms. Even if they fail to rule in 2015 because of the unwritten agreement of rotation of power between the North and the South, they will have a strong hand in determining who occupies Aso Rock come 2015.

The State Security Service (SSS) on Monday, paraded a suspect, ex-militant Adelola Tamunotonye Olaore, alias "General Africa" over a plot to assassinate and extort money from Senator Aloysius Etok in Abuja.

Senator Etok is the man that Governor Goodswill Akpabio openly admitted having rigged into office, although the Senator has said his election was transparent. But Senator Etok also occupies the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Seat, the same seat that the governor covets in 2015 when he cannot run for a third term, giving the impression it is merely being held in trust for him.

The suspect, who was born in Port Harcourt, hails from Okeho in Kajola Local Government of Oyo State. He confessed to having been contracted by three of Governor Akpabio's loyalists to assassinate Senator Etok. In order to convince the Senator [he was not lying] he offered to furnish him with details of the Governor's purported Bank Account and Energy Company in South Africa.......

Actually what are your circumstance in Nigeria, are you with a secured job, are you married; and do you have assets? Answers to these questions will determine if your travel experience will count towards your visa outcome.....

The issue regarding tithing in the House of God, has been a matter of sensitive nature. So many people view tithing in various manner as some see it as not compulsory, other believe we are in the new dispensation and old things are now done with as everything becomes new.

However, Femi Aribisala (Articles of Faith) has this to say:

That scripture says: "'Bring all the
tithes into the storehouse, that there
may be food in my house, and try me now in this,' says the LORD of hosts, 'If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive
it.'" (Malachi 3:10).

This scripture is drummed repeatedly into Christians on Sundays. However, the only time Jesus mentioned tithing in scripture, he pointed out that it was not a weighty matter of the law. (Matthew 23:23). Hebrews says people only receive tithes "according to the law." (Hebrews 7:5). It then insists tithing (and everything else under the law)
has been annulled: "The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless." (Hebrews 7:18- 9). Nevertheless, mercenary pastors continue to insist on the payment of tithes.

Latter-day Pharisees

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for keeping part
instead of the whole law. (Matthew 23:23). That is what tithe-collecting pastors do today. If we insist our congregants must pay tithes, we must also insist that they keep the rest of the law. James says:
"Whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all." (James 2:10).
Therefore, if we insist on tithing, we should also refrain from eating pork. We should stone adulterers, execute homosexuals, kill Sabbath violators and restore blood-sacrifices.

Tithe-collecting pastors counter this by maintaining the payment of tithes pre-dated the law. Here Abraham is cited as the cardinal example of someone who paid tithes before the promulgation of the Law of Moses, as did Jacob, his grandson. However, such arguments are disingenuous.

Before the law, tithing was at best an example but not a commandment. Moreover, pastors fail to mention that Abraham only tithed once in his lifetime. When he did, he did not even tithe his own money: he tithed the spoils of war. He gave ten percent of the plunder he took when he rescued Lot to Melchisedec, king of Salem. But then he did
not even keep the rest but returned it (all ninety percent) to the king of Sodom.

For his part, Jacob also tithed only once. He did this in a "let's make a deal" arrangement he offered to God: "Jacob made a vow, saying, 'If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father's house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God's house, and of all that you give me I will surely give a tenth to you.'" (Genesis 28:20-22). This kind of deal about accepting God only under certain self-serving conditions should certainly not be a term of reference for any serious believer.

Lies upon lies

The first lie pastors tell Christians is what some have referred to as "the eleventh commandment:" "Thou shalt pay thy tithes to thy local church." But the bible says no such thing. The storehouse of Malachi was not a church. It was a place where food was kept.

Pastors hide from church-members the fact that money was not acceptable as tithe. The tithe was a tenth of the seed and fruit of the land and of the animals which ate of the land. (Leviticus 27:30-32). That is why God says: "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be FOOD in my house." (Malachi 3:10). He does not say "that there may be MONEY in my house." The food was used to feed the Levites, the poor, widows, orphans and strangers.

Pastors also conveniently fail to teach the biblical tithe. The principles of tithing were not laid down by Malachi. They were laid down by Moses. The study of Moses' guidelines quickly reveals that the biblical tithe has no application whatsoever to Christians and is mischievously violated by tithe- collecting pastors today.

According to the Law of Moses, the tithe was
divided into three allocations. The first year, it was given to the Levite. The second year, it was given to widows, orphans and the poor. The third year, it was eaten in the company of the faithful before the Lord as thanksgiving for his faithfulness. (Deuteronomy 14:22-28). In the seventh year, there was no planting and no reaping and therefore no tithing.

So the next time your pastor asks you to pay tithe, ask him about the seventh-year reprieve. Also ask him if you can give your tithe to the orphanage, or bring it as food items to be eaten in church. Believe me; he will not agree with you because it is your money he is after.

Inapplicability of tithes

Tithing was only applicable to Jews and to the land of Israel. When large populations of Jews lived in Babylon, Ammon, Moab, Egypt, and Syria, these lands became tithe-able lands. However, tithes were not acceptable from strictly Gentile lands. So you need to ask your pastor how come he is collecting tithes in Nigeria.

Servants or slaves who worked on the land did not tithe because the land did not belong to them. Since only agricultural and animal resources were included, a fisherman gave no tithe of his fisheries. Neither did a miner or a carpenter pay tithes, nor anyone from the various professional occupations. So if you are not a farmer or a keeper of livestock, tell your 419 pastor tithing is biblically inapplicable to you.

Moreover, the only people authorised to receive tithes were the Levites. (Hebrews 7:5). So if your Pastor is a "tithe-collector," ask him if he happens to be a Jew. Remind him that, even though a Jew, Jesus could not receive the tithe because he was not from the tribe of Levi but from that of Judah.

The trick, of course, is for pastors today to claim we are "Levites." If your pastor is one such dissembler, ask him if he lives as a Levite. Remind him that
Levites had no land and did not have private
property. Ask him also how he knows he is from the tribe of Levi, which happens to be one of the lost tribes of Israel. Point out to him that even Jewish rabbis don't claim to be Levites today because all Jewish genealogical records were lost with the destruction of the Temple in AD 70, ensuring that it is no longer possible to ascertain the true identity of Levites.

Therefore, if Jews no longer tithe because the
Levites are a lost tribe, how can Christian pastors collect tithes when we are not even Jewish, how much more Levites? If Jewish rabbis, whose terms of reference remain the Old Testament no longer collect tithes, then pastors who insist Christians are under a New Testament have no business doing so.

The conclusion then is inescapable. Every pastor who collects tithes is nothing but "a thief and a robber." (John 10:1).

These men are the ones who will catch a thief first because they are experts in the game and God help her if she is a female. The lady in question was caught stealing, so? What happened to our Police Stations?

Another milestone was recorded for Nigeria as young Mr. Charles Okeoghene Etubiebi put up a superlative stage performance at an
international theatre festival that recently took place in Sudan, to emerge the overall best male actor of the festival.

The Al Bugaa International Theatre Festival as it was called, was organized in collaboration with the International Theatre Institute (ITI), Paris, from March27 (World Theatre Day) to April 4 in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital.

According to Afolabi, who is the artistic director of ''Theatre Emissary'', the play reflects the thematic concept that is full of life and humor just as it captures with imageries, the reality of our existence.

The performance of Theatre Emissary was so

Malaysian visa applications/issuance are carried out in Abuja and i doubt if Lagos still issues visas. It used to be possible in Lagos before 2007, but can't say now.

Take time to visit their embassy in V/Island to verify....

Sir, it's best not to misquote people on this forum , there is no law anyway that states you cannot be issued visa if you intend travelling with your family members. What people clearly said was that your circumstance in Nigeria determines the CO's decision to issue visa or not.

If you have a secured job, your economic situation is strong, your family tie is solid; and you have travelled a couple of times or extensively, with a good showing (not arrogance) during your interview, then you have just put the CO in a helpless situation to issue you entry visa.

See how easy that is.....

You should have asked this question before he booked for his interview. It will be difficult to secure that visa based on the fact that both parties have not met physically.

She should have been the one to come over to Nigeria since it's more easier for her securing visa, and not your friend travelling to the States.

Also, he should have indicated tourism/pleasure as his sole reason for travelling not claiming to know anyone in the States. He has made the situation for future visa application a tall task for himself.

The visa officer may tell him to go the spouse visa route which in his own case, may take a serious scrutiny as both parties have not even met and for you to scale a spouse visa application, both parties must have been in the relationship for two years running with verifiable evidence.

He can try his luck if he so wishes or fill another form, the choice is his.......
