Whatever you do, dont even go the way of signing signatures for someone else. You're fraternising with a life ban.

What you ought to do is ask her to send the package via Fedex, DHL or whichever is at her disposal and you in turn, can do the same by sending her side of the document for her signature. After which she can then send such signed documents back to you as the case maybe.

It will only cost you very little cash instead of getting banned......

Foreign AffairsBuilding Collapses In Philadelphia, USA, People Trapped... by tzetzefly(op): 12:35am On Jun 06, 2013
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A building that was being torn down collapsed with a thunderous boom Wednesday, raining bricks on a neighboring thrift store, killing a woman and injuring at least 13 other people in an accident that witnesses said was bound to happen.

Another woman was pulled from the rubble of the Salvation Army thrift store two hours after the collapse when rescuers heard her voice, city fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said.

The search for survivors continued hours after the 10:45 a.m. collapse on the edge of downtown and was to go on through the night, Ayers said, with rescuers using buckets and their bare hands to move bricks and rubble.

"We're hoping that anyone that's inside is in a void and we can have a live rescue," he said. "If not, we'll just take this apart a little at a time." The woman who died was 35 years old, Mayor Michael Nutter said, but no other information about her was released.

Officials said they had no indication anyone else was in the thrift shop building but would keep excavating to make sure there were no
other victims.

"We do not know how many people were actually in the thrift store this morning when the wall collapsed on the building," Mayor Michael Nutter said late Wednesday afternoon. He said officials from the Department of Labor and Occupational Safety and Health Administration were at the scene.

Survivors were taken to hospitals with mostly
minor injuries, and some had been treated and released by evening. The collapse involved an empty building that once housed a first-floor sandwich shop and apartments above.

Several witnesses said they had been casting a wary eye on the demolition site and questioned how the workers were tackling the job.

Roofer Patrick Glynn said he had been watching workers take down the doomed building over the past few weeks, and he said he suspected a collapse was inevitable because of the methods the workers were using.

"For weeks they've been standing on the edge, knocking bricks off," he said. "You could just see it was ready to go at any time. I knew it was going to happen."

Glynn and Anthony Soli were working on a roof atop a nearby building when they heard what sounded like two loud bangs or explosions. They immediately ran down the scaffolding and helped pull out two women and a man.

Steve Cramer, who has been working as a window washer across the street for several days, said the demolition crew left 30 feet of a dividing wall up with no braces and it compromised the integrity of the building "We've been calling it for the past week — it's going to fall, it's going to fall," his co-worker Dan Gillis said.

There were no existing violations on the building and the demolition company had proper permits for the work they were doing, according to Carlton Williams, of the city's Department of Licenses and Inspections. The city issued a demolition permit for the four- story structure on Feb. 1.

Online records list the contractor as Plato Marinakos Jr., an architect. He said that Campbell Construction was handling the demolition.

A demolition expert wondered what precautions were taken to protect the Salvation Army store, especially since it remained open.....

My friend just got his Mexican visa last week and he intend to pass through JFK airport, because his ticket he book shows that he must pass through US airport JFK New York. Can he pass the airport without US transit visa. pls ur contribution is highly needed here.

I also want to know if holder of a Mexican visa can apply for US transit visa in Abuja.
You dont need a Transit Visa for flight connecting wait time at the JFK Airport, New York since you have a valid visa to Mexico.

You only need a Transit Visa if you have to clear immigration and pass through several US ports before you arrive your destination which clearly is not required in your case.
CrimeFire, Locked Doors Kill 119 At China Poultry Plant by tzetzefly(op):
BEIJING (AP) — A swift-moving fire trapped
panicked workers inside a poultry slaughterhouse in northeastern China that had only a single open exit, killing at least 119 people in one of the country's worst industrial disasters in years. Survivors described workers, mostly women, struggling through smoke and flames to reach doors that turned out to be locked or blocked.

One worker, 39-year-old Guo Yan, said the emergency exit at her workstation could not be opened and she was knocked to the ground in the crush of workers searching for a way to escape the fire Monday. "I could only crawl desperately forward," Guo was quoted as saying by the official Xinhua News Agency. "I worked alongside an old lady and a young girl, but I don't know if they survived or not." The accident highlights the high human costs of China's lax industrial safety standards, which continue to endanger workers despite recent improvements in the country's work safety record.

It also comes amid growing international concern over factory safety across Asia following the collapse in April of a garment factory building in Bangladesh where more than 1,100 people died.

Besides the dead, dozens were injured in the blaze in Jilin province's Mishazi township, which appeared to have been sparked by three early morning explosions, Xinhua said. The provincial fire department attributed the blasts to an ammonia leak. The chemical is kept pressurized as part of the cooling system in meat processing plants.

It was one of China's worst recent industrial disasters, with the death toll the highest since a September 2008 mining cave-in that claimed 281 lives. State broadcaster CCTV quoted workers as saying the fire broke out during a shift change when about 350 workers were at the plant, owned by Jilin Baoyuanfeng Poultry Co.

Some employees raised the alarm shortly after the shift began at 6 a.m., and then the lights went out, causing panic as workers scrambled to find an exit, 44-year-old Wang Fengya told Xinhua. "When I finally ran out and looked back at the plant, I saw high flames," she said.

The fire broke out in a factory building where chickens were being dismembered, and spread rapidly, with industrial boilers exploding, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported on its microblog.

Only a side door to the building was open with the rest of the exits locked, the newspaper said. It quoted an unidentified worker as saying the fire engulfed the building in three minutes, leaving too little time for many to flee. The disaster killed 119 people and injured a further 70, Xinhua said Tuesday.

Most of the injured were being treated for inhalation of toxic gases, such as ammonia, while others had burns. It wasn't immediately clear if the workers were local residents or migrants from other areas.

A provincial government media official, who
refused to give his name, said he expected the death toll to rise as more bodies were recovered from the charred building. The fire was extinguished by some 500 firefighters
and bodies were being recovered from the charred buildings.

CCTV footage showed dark smoke
billowing from the prefabricated cement structures topped with corrugated iron roofs. Chinese President Xi Jinping and other top leaders ordered that no effort be spared to rescue and treat survivors, as well as to investigate the cause of the disaster.

It was the third major industrial blaze to be reported in China in the past four days. The two earlier fires were an oil tank explosion in Liaoning province that caused another oil tank to catch fire, killing two, and a blaze in a large granary in Heilongjiang province that wiped out 1,000 tons of grain.

Many of China's factories were built in recent decades to drive the country's rapid economic growth, and accidents and chemical spills are common, often blamed on lax enforcement of safety rules and poor worker training.

The government has tightened checks on factories and mines to improve compliance with safety requirements, and deaths from workplace accidents fell nearly 5 percent last year from the previous year, according to Yang Dongliang, head of the State Administration of Work Safety.

Even in China's notoriously deadly coal mines, the death toll fell by more than 30 percent last year because of stricter management. Jason Yan, technical director in Beijing of the U.S. Grains Council, said safety considerations usually take a back seat in China to features designed to maximize production and energy efficiency.

"I'm sure they consider some aspects of safety design. However, I think safety ... is not the first priority in their design plan," Yan said. The poultry plant is one of several in the area where chickens are slaughtered and then quickly cut up into pieces and shipped to market.

The process takes place in near-freezing conditions and plants are usually built with large amounts of flammable foam insulation to keep temperatures constant. Established in 2009, Jilin Baoyuanfeng produces 67,000 tons of processed chicken per year and employs about 1,200 people.

It serves markets in 20 cities nationwide and has won numerous awards for its contribution to the local economy, according to online postings. The plant is located outside the city of Dehui, about 500 miles (800 kilometers) northeast of China's capital, Beijing. The area is an agribusiness center, especially for poultry.

Nearby is one of the biggest producers of broiler chickens in China, Jilin Deda Co., which is partly owned by Thailand-based conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Group. Monday's fire hit a company that is much smaller than Jilin Deda.

Though it's unlikely to have an impact on China's chicken supply, the accident came as chicken producers were seeing sales recover after an outbreak of a deadly new strain of bird flu, H7N9, briefly scared the public in April and early May.

SportsLuis Suarez Brushes Off Criticism From Prime Minister... by tzetzefly(op): 5:02pm On Jun 01, 2013
The Uruguayan is fed up of apologising for his bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, which the PM described as an "appalling example to young people in our country"

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has brushed off criticism from Prime Minister David Cameron regarding his bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The striker has refused to commit his future to Liverpool amid rumours that Real Madrid are interested in making an offer for the striker, and has grown increasingly tired of the media attention he receives in England.

Suarez was banned for 10 games for the incident, and has responded to Cameron’s views by insisting he does not need to offer any more apologies.

"Some minister of something, I don't know what, said I don't know what about me, that Suarez is I don't know what to the kids, to his son," he said in a press conference. "He should care for the English people, he should try to do his job. I won't ask for more forgiveness."

Cameron initially told BBC Radio 5 Live:

"I made my own views clear, just as a dad watching the game.

"I have a seven-year-old son who loves football, loves watching football and when players behave like this, it sets the most appalling example to young people in our country.

"As a dad and as a human being, do I think we should have tough penalties when football players behave like this? Yes."

EducationWhat You Need To Know About Tornadoes.... by tzetzefly(op):
Tornadoes are funnel-shaped clouds that forms under thunderclouds and contain
rapidly rotating air which are ususally deadly.

Facts:

Most tornadoes form from severe thunderstorms.

Hurricanes can also produce tornadoes. Tornado winds may exceed 300 miles (480
kilometers) per hour.

Tornadoes can lift cars, mobile homes, and animals into the air.

Tornadoes are sometimes called "twisters."

The damage path of a tornado is usually less than 1600 feet wide.

Most tornadoes move at less than 35
miles per hour (58km per hour).

Most tornadoes last only a few minutes but the damage it causes, can run into millions of cash.

The most destructive and deadly
tornadoes occur from supercells, which
are rotating thunderstorms with a well-
defined radar circulation called a mesocyclone.

Supercells can also produce damaging hail, severe non-tornadic winds, unusually frequent lightning, and flash floods.

A tornado over a body of water is called a
"waterspout."

The United States has the highest number of
tornado occurrences in the world with an average of 1,000 tornadoes reported each year.

According to the National Weather Service, in 2012 there were 70 tornado-related deaths in the U.S.

Most of the tornadoes in the United States strike in Tornado Alley, which spans the Midwest and Southern states.

Tornadoes usually occur during the spring and early summer, most often in the late afternoon and early evening.

In the US, a tornado watch is issued by the National Weather Service when atmospheric conditions promote the forming of tornadoes.

A tornado warning is issued when Doppler radar detects a mesocyclone in a thunderstorm, or when a funnel cloud has been spotted.

A tornado emergency is enhanced wording indicating a large tornado is moving into a heavily populated area. Significant widespread damage and numerous fatalities are likely. The term was coined by forecasters in May 1999 and is used sparingly.

The Fujita scale is used to estimate the wind speed of a tornado by the damage the tornado causes.

EF0 is the weakest point on the Enhanced Fujita scale and EF5 is the strongest.

An EF5 tornado can tear a house off its foundation.

Category EF0 Wind in miles per hour: between 65 - 85. Light damage. Some damage to chimneys; branches broken off trees; shallow-rooted trees pushed over; sign boards damaged.

Category EF1 Wind in miles per hour: between 86 - 110. Moderate damage. Peels surface off roofs; mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned; moving autos blown off roads.

Category EF2 Wind in miles per hour: between 111 - 135. Considerable damage. Roofs torn off frame houses; mobile homes demolished; boxcars overturned; large trees snapped or uprooted; light- object missiles generated; cars lifted off ground.

Category EF3 Wind in miles per hour: between 136 - 165. Severe damage. Roofs and some walls torn off well-constructed houses; trains overturned; most trees in forest uprooted; heavy cars lifted off the ground and thrown.

Category EF4 Wind in miles per hour: between 166-200. Devastating damage. Well-constructed houses leveled; structures with weak foundations blown away some distance; cars thrown and large missiles generated.

Category EF5 Wind in miles per hour: 200+.
Incredible damage. Strong frame houses leveled off foundations and swept away; automobile-sized missiles fly through the air in excess of 100 meters (109 yards); trees debarked; incredible phenomena will occur.

Foreign AffairsStorms And Tornadoes Reck Havoc On Oklahoma City by tzetzefly(op):
A storm system that wrought havoc on the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, generating a handful of tornadoes that killed five people and sent tens of thousands scrambling for shelter, moved late Friday over Missouri.

There were no immediate reports of catastrophic damage or major injuries in the St. Louis area, said Jeff Rainford, the chief of staff for Mayor Francis Slay.

Lambert-St. Louis International Airport was closed because of the severe weather, and minor damage was reported to a terminal. As authorities in Missouri urged people to take
shelter, officials in Oklahoma were working to
determine how many people had been killed and injured in the storm that battered the state's largest city.

A mother and a child were among five people killed as a result of severe weather, and another 14 were injured, authorities said.

At the height of the storm, the National
Weather Service issued a tornado emergency for a number of areas in and around Oklahoma's capital city, with tornadoes reported outside Moore, near the suburb
of Bethany, north of Union City and outside Tinker Air Force Base.

Even the Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport was evacuated over the threat from the approaching tornado, and travelers were sheltered in the airport's basement at the height of the storm, authorities said....

My friend here who also applied last year for the same US visa, he has been to US on B1 visa before, and also has been to other schengen countries and China Qatar UK, he was also denied US visa in US embassy in Serbia, and the consular officer told him to apply from his country Ghana that he doesn't have strong ties here in Serbia. They don't issue African student visa here and i don't know why?

I was advice by a colleague to apply from Nigeria, and when i came across this thread "nairaland" i think this is the best place to seek advice concerning this issue. and i also want to ask if traveling experience to other countries can be an advantage in visa application in Nigeria?
Having a travel experience does work in obtaining an entry visa to most countries. Since you think securing that visa from Serbia may be difficult as you claim, then come to Nigeria and apply.

But be rest assured that the CO may view your application with skepticism having been denied initially in Serbia. The CO will smell desperation on your part and nothing more.

Imagine coming all the way from Serbia to secure US entry visa in Nigeria where you dont reside presently except for holidays. My friend that application is not going to pass.

Like i told you earlier, apply from Serbia and be prepared for questions from the CO regarding the importance of that conference to your studies.

Best of luck....

uist: Hello Nairalanders, Firstly i have to thank those Gurus on this forum, and your contributions and advice, May God continue to bless you all for your good advice and contribution.

Please i need your advice on getting a US visit visa. I am currently a student studying in Serbia, last year 2012 i applied for US B1 visa on a purpose of attending conference related to my field of studies, but i was denied at the US embassy in Serbia, and the CO told me that i don't have strong ties in Serbia. Now i am planning of coming to Nigeria to apply for B1 visa from Nigeria, i want to know the possibility of getting the visa in Nigeria.

i have travel experience in Sweden, Mexico and China on same conference. Please i need your advice on this, and i am applying as self sponsor. Your advice would be highly appreciated.
If you apply now from Nigeria, you will still be refused on the same reason being lack of adequate tie to your home country.

Your present country of residence is Serbia which is where your tie currently is. Your US visit application was refused in Serbia due to improper presentation of your case and the intention to visit the US so early into your studies, raised doubts as well.

The CO perceived you to be an intending immigrant visiting the States on the guise of attending a conference.

Presently you have a genuine case as you have attended the same conference in three other countries (Mexico, China and Sweden)as claimed.

All you have to do now is apply again in Serbia with all your school documents and proof of financial means of sustenance, along with a detailed letter from your department authorising you to make that journey.

Be ready to answer the CO on the relevance of the three conferences you have so far attended, and why the present one you hope to attend in the States is also needed. This is going to either make or break your application....

Your budget can be less or more as the case may be. The most vital thing is your accomodation. Your meals will not be expensive as such if cheese burgers, potato chips, sandwiches, beacon egg and cheese etc are not going to be too dull for your stomach.

You can also get home made Naija delicacies in certain areas around Chicago if you take your time to sniff around. It will be a little expensive though.

Try these Nigerian Restaurants in Chicago :

www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=nigerian+food&find_loc=Chicago%2C+IL

To save up some cash, staying in hostels can be handy and taking bus rides instead of taxis will be pocket friendly.

Map out places of interest you intend visiting (Bars & Pubs, Clubs, Cinemas, Zoo, Parks, Museums etc), take note of the distance between these locations in Chicago which should be in minutes.

You can use either trip advisor or lonely planet. All the help you can get are available therein....

You need to have a reasonable amount in your account to convince the CO you're a genuine traveller. A self sponsored traveller for pleasure purpose have little convincing to do before the CO, than for an adult being sponsored as a tourist by a third party.

Save enough funds and plan towards your objective...

Nigerians cry and lament about how irresponsible they believe their politicians and especially members of the national assembly are when it comes to allocating monies to themselves in the budget.

It is on record that our legislators rank among the highest paid in the world. Well, it turns out that the parliament of Kenya has been watching their peers in Nigeria closely and if recent developments are anything to go by, then they are learning fast.

Kenyan members of parliament, who are already among the world’s best-paid, have voted to increase their salaries to more than 130 times the minimum wage in defiance of government plans to cut their pay as part of spending reforms.

The new Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta had begged MPs to accept pay cuts and to rein in public sector pay to free up cash to create jobs. Rather than heed to his pleas, the MPs backed a motion to overturn a legal notice slashing their pay, and to increase it to an average of 851,000 shillings (£6,640) a month.

The average monthly wage in Kenya is 6,498 shillings and the unemployment rate is 40 per cent.

Foreign AffairsMan Arrested Over Stabbing of Soldier In France... by tzetzefly(op): 11:45am On May 29, 2013
Minister says man accused of carrying out attack on a French soldier in a Paris neighbourhood was known to police.

French authorities have arrested a man suspected of stabbing a 23-year-old French soldier on May 25. The suspect, who was detained on Wednesday, carried out the attack just days after the killing of a British soldier in London by men shouting religious slogans. "He was known [to police] but we cannot speak of radical Islamism," Manuel Valls, French interior minister, told iTele television. "I remain very cautious." The suspect, known to police for crimes such as theft and possession of firearms, was arrested in a Paris suburb early on Wednesday after being identified through fingerprints, a police source told Reuters news agency.

AFP news agency identified the site of arrest as Yvelines, just west of Paris. Cedric Cordiez was attacked from behind with a knife or box-cutter while patrolling the La Defense business neighbourhood, a busy underground shopping and transport hub, west of Paris. He was released from hospital on Monday. Al Jazeera's David Chater, reporting from Paris, said:

"We have a few details that have been released by both the Interior Ministry and the French police "Apparently they got to him by having very, very clear CCTV images of the actual attack, and they saw this 22-year-old man praying before the attack. "He was wearing a black sweater apparently with a belt around it.

They say the indications are that this was a pre-planned attack, then he launched the attack on the soldier, stabbing him in the left of the neck." French police have said the knife attack may have been inspired by off-duty British soldier Lee Rigby's murder in London on May 22 by two men shouting religious slogans.

The key suspect in the London attack, Michael Adebolajo, was captured on video carrying bloodied knives and a meat cleaver after the attack, saying he had murdered Rigby because British troops were killing Muslims.

Foreign AffairsUK Domestic Intelligence Agency(M15),'offered Job To Suspect' of Woolwich Attack by tzetzefly(op):
MI5 asked Woolwich murder suspect Michael
Adebolajo if he wanted to work for them about six months before the killing, a childhood friend has said.

Abu Nusaybah told BBC Newsnight his friend - one of two men arrested after Drummer Lee Rigby's murder in south-east London on Wednesday - had rejected the approach from the security service. The BBC could not obtain any confirmation from Whitehall sources.

Abu Nusaybah was arrested at the BBC after giving the interview.

The Met Police said a 31-year-old man had been arrested at 21:30 BST on Friday in relation to suspected terrorism offences and search warrants were being executed at two homes in east London. The arrest was not directly related to the murder of Drummer Rigby, it said.

In his Newsnight interview, Abu Nusaybah said he thought "a change" had taken place in his friend after his detention by security forces on a trip to Kenya last year.

Abu Nusaybah said Mr Adebolajo suggested he had been physically and sexually abused during an interrogation in a prison cell in the African country.

After this, he became withdrawn "and less talkative - he wasn't his bubbly self", Abu Nusaybah added.

He said Mr Adebolajo also told him that, upon his return, he was "followed up by MI5" who were "knocking on his door".

He was "basically being harassed", Abu Nusaybah said.

He added: "His wording was, 'They are bugging me - they won't leave me alone.'

"He mentioned initially they wanted to ask him if he knew certain individuals.

"But after him saying that he didn't know these individuals, what he said was they asked him if he would be interested in working for them.

"He was explicit in that he refused to work for them but he did confirm he didn't know the individuals."

Newsnight reporter Richard Watson said that, in general terms, it was not out of the ordinary for the security service to approach people for information or even to act as covert sources.....

boluoyinbo: YOU WROTE ABOUT (H-1BVISA)..........HOW CAN I BENEFIT FROM IT?
H-1B visa category is applicable after your studies in the US.

You can secure employment after your studies in the States basically in a professional field, while your employer assist you in securing that visa category....

boluoyinbo: Hello all nairalander in the house, please i need your advice.... i am planning to travel to the USA through the visitation route, my father lives in USA (Texas). I am presently working for the federal government ( yaba tech) as an admin officer. My plan is to travel to the states through the visitation route and never come back until i FINALLY settle down in the states. Is it possible?
Travelling to the States to reside presumably as an illegal immigrant is no child's play. You are an employed male with two(2) kids and a wife. What more can a person ask for?

Since you claim to work for the Fed Govt as an Admin Officer in YABATECH, take the benefit of study leave and further your education. It is a more legal route to travelling to the States.

This could be beneficial to your cause in the long run, as you tend to get the benefit of seeing the environment first hand, get to integrate better with a different culture and also assess the possibility of a future immigration through job opportunities (H-1B visa) as the case may be.

All these take patience, cash commitments and lots of years to achieve and it is not a certainty. Your wife must also be on a job to support the family in order to realise this dream.

Mind you, your wife and kids have to be considered while taking your decisions. Dont forget your family also need a father figure around them.

Adequate planning is the ultimate thing. Best of luck in your quest....
Foreign AffairsBridge Collapses In Washington State, USA by tzetzefly(op): 6:09am On May 24, 2013
Part of bridge in Washington State collapses,
dumping vehicles and people into water.

A highway bridge over a river in Washington State has collapsed, dumping vehicles and people into the water, the Associated Press news agency reported quoting police.

Trooper Mark Francis said on Friday the four-lane bridge collapsed about halfway between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia. Francis said he had no idea how many people were in the water or whether there were any injuries or deaths.

A Skagit Valley Herald reporter at the scene said a sheriff's office rescue boat had arrived and rescue crews were looking for people in the water. The newspaper reporter saw one person sitting atop one vehicle in the water
