Visit the Hqs of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Sauka Bustop, FCT, Abuja, along Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Expressway. Go along with the advertised name change in one of the Nigerian newspapers as well as your old passport to effect the change and obtain another traveling document......

I don't know of any refusal with Church Marriage Certificate. But it is better you obtain the Registry Certificate for future use, to be on a safe side......

Definitely you can state him as your fiance, and in that case, you must knw a whole lot about him i.e. What he studied, the name of his school, where he stays in the States and some other issues that will be asked you by the VO....

Yes, you can be issued entry visa. All you need to show, is an extreme level of confidence and convincing during your interview. And also prove that you will come back to your country after your visit.

No document may even be required from you by the VO.

That is the name of the place you intend to stay i.e your accomodation while in the States...

Since your sister cannot be present with you while checking-in to board as a requirement for using her credit card and not yours, she needs to:

Get a verification note through her bank in the States stating she authorised such flight bookings. This can be scanned and sent to your e-mail.

Your sister will also need to call Qatar Airways on their number in the US, to inform them of her payment on your behalf. This will enable them clear you from unnecessary scrutiny and delays during check-in in MMIA.

This is necessary to avoid suspicion on credit card fraud.....

What is now your question..? Also take note that you cannot apply to go to the States from Qatar. You do not have a residence permit there. Neither can you apply from Nigeria as you do not have a job.

It's my very first US visa interview and never been to the US before. Wat cud possibly be wrong abi she expected me to give doc to her without her asking for it? Do not apply until your next annual leave which should be next year 2014. You can go on vacation someplace else preferably Turkey ( to see your wife and kid this will be on record for your next application to the US ).

When applying to US again, state Turkey as your last travel history and emphasis that you went visiting your family there. The CO will confirm it on your passport knowing fully well you applied to go to the States and got denied.

The reasons for your denial were:

1. Lack of adequate social tie (Your wife and kid not in Nigeria )

2. You were seen to be a flight risk. Mind you people with very good paying jobs, have left and relocated to the States.

3. Your marriage was doubtful in the eyes of the CO. She expected your wife to be resident in Nigeria at the time of applying to travel to the States, or that you go pay her a visit in Turkey during your proposed annual leave but you did neither.

To the Americans, family is very important. You did not prove that your family meant alot to you.....

Your 2.3m in that bank a/c, must have a verifyable source of income.

Since you've got landed properties in your name, it is a good development. Remember it must be documented with either a Certificate of Occupancy (Cof O) or Right of Occupancy (R of o). This is the only format acceptable in the embassy.

And since you're already engaged with pics and have your wedding invitation for August, go along with all these documents for your interview to present them to the CO if asked....

DHS means Dept of Home Land Security
SSN means Social Security Number

Your husband can be in the States to sign when the time comes, if he can be issued entry visa for such purpose.

Remember you need to pay for the child birth which can run into thousands of dollars....

No, you can't book appointment without filling out your DS-160. And since your expected date of arrival is summer, then you should pick any date from mid June- August for your arrival in US.
An available interview date before this time will be shown to you for selection.

Thank God, now you can get dates immediately unlike when it used to be 3months ahead or more.

Your date of arrival is when you're expected to land/be present on US soil from your point of departure being your country or country of residence.

You can't fill your online form without having knowledge of this date, even if it is tentative....

Yes, it is very possible. The hospital will give you a form meant for DHS in order for your baby to have SSN as well as for you to fill in the details of your husband or your fiance as the case maybe. This form will reflect why the baby bears the father's name and not yours.

Also the father will be required to counter sign other documents from DHS before the baby can be issued US passport. It is usually a long process that can take months especially if both parents are not resident in the States.

My choice of seminar/conference is because the CO may ask why you're going to the States alone for vacation without taking your kid along. Your reply during this time might be deemed not satisfactory, which in turn may work against you securing the visa.

Hence, indicate conference on your DS160 to be on a safe side. The CO(s) are unpredictable.....

If you don't have a job or any means of subsistence, i am afraid it will be difficult to secure visa to any country mentioned by you.

What you need to ask yourself first is :

Do i have a good paying job..?
Do i have a family..?
Do i have a property in Nigeria..?
Will i have any funds left to spend when i proceed and return from my trip...?

All these questions will assist you in your enquiry here.....

From all indication, you work and earn income this is a good start. You also have social tie to the country in form of marriage and two(2) kids a good sign as well.

All you now need to do is provide your previous travel history if any, to be favourably seen in the best light by the CO.

Meanwhile, your job duties and job specifications are a necessity to satisfy the CO. Make sure you're well prepared in this area.

Furthermore, your sister cannot sponsor you as you are an adult and should be able to cater for yourself without soliciting for funds from relatives.

Your 1.2m should serve you just fine. Endeavour to prioritise your budget.

There's nothing you can do to hasten the process. It takes several years for this application to go through the legal procedure.

Moreso, your wife is yet to acquire US Citizenship i presume? This could have speed up your application if it were so.

All you need to have is patience.....

Do not send any letter ahead, you will not get a response from them. You should travel to Dubai as planned and another EU country. This will improve your travel experience....

israel007: Thanks man. I have no intention of lying. I will tell co I applied before and was denied. What I'm worried about is the records that I can't remember. The agent doesn't have a copy any longer. The place I can't remember is the date of birth of my family members as he messed that section up.

If the only problem is the column for the date of birth of family members, then i will advice you leave that section blank.

During your interview, you will be asked why you left that column blank. You can then tell the CO you cant remember what you filled in your first application and you didnt want to contradict yourself. Since you know the implication of giving false claims....

The CO is also going to ask you if you filled the form in 2006 by youself. Just tell him/her the truth. It sets us all free....

israel007: Took me a long time to finally post this but glad i have the courage to do so now. here is my story:

back in 2006, a friend of mine, who was down with Cancer (white guy) invited me to visit in WV. i was naive and all. i filled the form with the help of one man and took the invitation letter to the embassy in Lagos. on getting there, i was standing before the VO and she asked my name, i told her, she looked at my form and incidentally, the space for occupation was no filled. i was a student. she asked me if i was a student i said yes and she asked why i didn't fill that info. i said sorry. at this point she was furiously typing in the system and when she was done, she stamped my passport and said sorry you don't qualify. passed me a document and said it would explain to me why i was denied. and that was it.

i have not applied since then. i got a visa to go to brunei back in 2010 but didn't go because my boss was out of work and i had to cover for him and my visa expired.

2011, i lost my passport, though i still have the soft copies (old passport and the E-passport)and my visa for Brunei.

Now i want to reapply but i can't remember what information the guy filled in the former form. i am thinking of sending a letter ahead to explain the situation to them before i reapply. don't know what to expect. i got a new passport in december, i work in oil and gas sector (work directly with Oando though i am not a direct employee of Oando). i head a dept and pay is good.

what do you think i should do please.

FYI: NO TRAVEL HISTORY, I HAVE A DAUGHTER, NOT MARRIED BECAUSE I LOST THE LADY DURING CHILD BIRTH OF MY BABY

Was your biometrics taken at the time? If your answer is yes, i am afraid your details are on record.

Secondly, if your biodata is the same now as used in 2006, then it is also on record even if your biometrics were not taken in 2006.
The reason i say this is that all related names as yourself along with those with red flags, will jump to the fore while the CO is typing in your details and you may be surprised if a question like ''have you applied to travel to the States before?'' comes up during your interview even if you filled ''no'' in your DS160 form. This question is to test your sincerity before the main appetizer.

You will have to meet with the former person who entered the form for you in 2006 and pray he still has a copy. You never can tell what he filled on your behalf, and what the CO entered for your assessment at the time.

Consistency is all that matters between approval and denial.....

My parents have no problem sponsoring the trip and have a good account balance/transaction history. They also have CAC certificate for the hotel and engineering firm, several land properties, stocks and shares to also show. I understand I have to provide my transcripts from my school and invitation letter also as part of the documentations. What else do you guys think will boost their chances. Do you think my siblings stand a chance? Can they give my parents and deny my siblings? because they don't have a travel history?

All suggestions and advse will be greatly appreciated.[/quote]The US CO(s) are sets of unpredictable personalities and what may work for person ''A'', may be lacking in person ''B''.

Your father and mother are most likely to secure the visas, they are your parents and by legal rights have all it takes to visit you at your graduation. They have trained you well and contributed to your success.

Your sister has a 30/70 percent chance of getting the visa. She is single, no social tie of her own and very young i suppose. The CO may assume she could easily leave her current job and seek greener pastures in the States. Remember you're a PR holder and they could believe you would aid her in this. Not to mention she is a legal professional which is a ripe profession to remain in the States for.

Your brothers have a very slim chance of getting the visa. They can as well remain in Nigeria and serve as a tie back home for your parents.

However, you can invite your parents and your sister and remember to bring family photographs of all of you. She could be lucky.

The question i want to ask the house is, during my application for the DV2013 lottery, I was SINGLE, i got engaged March 14th and did my introduction March 15th which was way before the results came out in May. While i filled my forms to KCC i was still SINGLE but engaged and i had filled in SINGLE, but in December/January i got married. During my medicals, i had to fill in married as status in one of the forms since am now married. Right now am not so sure as to what to say when i go for my interview, if i should simply say am married with all proofs or i should maintain my being SINGLE, but right now am wearing my wedding band. What should i do house, any and all advice would be appreciated.............My interview date is 21st so the earlier i hear from you guys the better for me. Thanks

Your situation is somewhat dicey. In my humble opinion, what the embassy will have before them on your interview date is single.

So regarding this matter you have to maintain that you're single as at the time of sending your 2nd NL.

But also let the visa officer know that you're now engaged to (mention his name). At no point must you state you're married becose it will be deemed as marriage for visa and i dnt need to tell you what that means.

My only concern is the medical form you entered as married. But just stick to engaged. This will make it a whole lot easier for you.

Note you're to appear for interview alone.

That I will provide the necessary documents I required to secure the visa. Have not travelled outside nigeria. Pls I need your candid advice on this. Am over 32 yrs of age and am engaged.

To be candid with you, earning 220k or less is not the problem at the Embassy. Your greatest asset is how you can present your case before the CO.

Your lack of travel experience may count against you at the interview stage due to your travel reasons being for ''holidays''.

However, you can improve your chance of securing the visa if you can change your travel reasons as going for ''conference''.

The reason is that i believe you're in the medical line and a conference on medical related issues, won't raise too much red flag for a first time traveller such as yourself.

Above all, divine favour and composure on your part during interview is the ultimate thing.....
