mysoopafly: HI, JUSTWISE, GBENGA 77 ,TZETZEFLY AND ALL NAIRALANDERS.Since you are aware of the situation with @vozkini, i suggest you do the same by taking your wife along. Summer season is fast approaching in the States, and a lonely trip raises a question mark as to your real intentions for the proposed journey. Having your family on a trip with you is a plus that will favour your visa interview. Think about this carefully. The same similar questions already asked others on this forum will still be directed at you, nothing different (check through previous pages). Your answers and body language are what matters. Take all your documents concerning your job along, the CO may not even look at them.... |

vozkini: Thanks bros tzetzefly,Making use of a hotel booking and 10days stay is perfect. Itemise exotic locations he intends visiting in NewYork and Chicago, he would be asked by the CO. Quite dicey to go alone for such a trip at this time. It would be better going for the interview with his wife just as i have said to have a good chance securing the visa. It does not mean they will both depart for the trip together. He can go alone after a successful interview and she can go with him the second trip he makes. The visa is mutiple entry and does not have any negative effect in her passport, does it..? He should not lie that his wife is pregnant, that is an excuse that will result in a costly mistake. Let him go for the interview with his wife..... |
Are you a learner? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First of all, go down low, go down low..... Introduction, go down low, go down low.... |
vozkini: Hi all, at justwise, gbenga, tzetzefly etc. There is no cause to worry for your brother, let him go ahead and apply for the visa. Also having travelled abroad previously on some occassion, is quite good. However, i believe your brother has been taking several pleasure holidays with his family not going with him. This might be frowned upon at this time by the CO and work against him. Your brother should add his wife to his itinenary and leave his two(2) kids behind in Nigeria as a tie. If your brother's wife has not travelled with him before as a family, he should tell the CO he owes her this trip big time and he needs some quality time alone with her. The CO will definitely ask him this question which could either make or break his interview. The CO will also want to know why their kids are not going on the trip with them. Your brother should then tell the CO that his grandma (if you still have one), misses the kids so much and she requires they come spend sometime with her. TAKE NOTE: Your brother must never say what he is not asked and must also make his reply very brief so as not to say something out of place..... |
It now means that from the next lottery year 2015 which commences from October/November 2013, Nigerians will not be able to partake in the randomly selected 55000 Diversity Winners (DV) cutting across eligible countries around the globe. This may be the case for the next four(4) years, if the sponsored US Senate bill on proposed immigration reforms does not pass into law in this current year www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/16/us-usa-immigration-congress-idUSBRE93F05520130416 The first program was DV-1995, and the following 13 countries were ineligible from the start: Canada, China (mainland), Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. Changes to the list of countries over the years include the following: DV-1996: Colombia now ineligible. DV-1998: Poland now ineligible. DV-2002: Poland and Taiwan now eligible, Pakistan ineligible. DV-2004: East Timor added, eligible. DV-2005: Russia now ineligible. DV-2007: Poland again ineligible. DV-2008: Brazil and Peru now ineligible; Serbia and Montenegro listed separately, both eligible. DV-2009: Ecuador and Guatemala now ineligible. DV-2010: Russia now eligible; Kosovo added, eligible. DV-2013: Poland again eligible, Bangladesh now ineligible; South Sudan added, eligible. DV-2014: Guatemala again eligible. **DV-2015: Nigeria will become ineligible, as per the recently released 2012 immigration statistics. Nija brothers and sisters will now surely have to stay put in the country to salvage the nation together and effect a positive change.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diversity_Immigrant_Visa |

laurel03: I am a security officer (ASP) and d conference is partianing to my job.. Thanks for d good jobJust remain composed and confident during your interview, and also, take your conference invitation letter to the embassy. The CO will want to have a look at it for confirmation. I hope it is a paid conference? Remember to wear your uniform for the interview. It serves as a morale booster. Basically, you are unlikely to have a problem being a first time traveller. However, this situation depends on the way and manner you are able to answer all questions directed to you by the CO. All the best..... |
laurel03: I am going to the Us embassy for conference visa by next month but never have any travel experience before... Hope this will not be a barrierWhat is the nature of the conference and where do you work? This will allow us know how to advise you.... |
benson3788: @tzetze why do you advise that i use admin/welfare officer as my disignation?Holding a designation such as a PA does not guarantee a long term job security for you or show adequate economic tie to Nigeria in a way an Admin or Welfare Officer in that organisation would portray. If you say PA, you could be knocked off by the CO for lack of economic tie to your country which makes it possible for you to abscond once in the States. If you're married with kids, that's a good family/social tie to your country. Go along with your marriage certificates and wedding pictures.... |
benson3788: @tzetzefly thanks for your timely response, t'was really helpful. Hope i get more of thatHis birth certificate or any other documents showing his mother's maiden name same as yours will do just fine. Hotel booking for 7days is ok. This can be extended in the States, depending on how long it takes to treat his ailment. Go with a letter from your organisation stating permission to proceed on such a journey. Do not indicate PA as your designation, it will work against you. You can say Admin or Welfare Officer, sounds better. Take your ID card along.... |
benson3788: A 16years old cousin of mine is going to John Hopkins, Baltimore, Maryland for medical treatment; he has ear problem as an injury sustained after a football match at school.Just as you have claimed that all necessary medical bills have been paid for in one of the John Hopkins, Medical Centre, Maryland, then you only need to prove your relationship to the boy and the written consent from his parents authorising you to accompany him for his ear treatment in the States. * Go to the embassy with a medical certificate from the Doctor taking care of his ailment here in Nigeria, for the CO to see. * Memorise the name and location of the medical centre in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. * Make sure you know the name of the Doctor to handle his treatment in the States. * Plan for your accomodation for the duration of his treatment. |
smithjanetstore: @House see gobe oooo quick response is urgently needed , a friend of my mine with 10yrs business visa intend travelling with her fiancee she works as a nurse wht are the necessary document she need to provide and while filling the ds 160 form is it necssary to indicate that she will be travelling with him and wht are the necessary document he need to provide as sponsor to boost her chances in obtaining the visaWhere did she get the 10yrs business visa...? |
shaq32: Hi Team,What was your purpose for visiting Turkey, business, tourism or medical? If it was for tourism at the time, you have an advantage during the interview as you would be viewed by the CO to have visited Europe in the time past for a similar trip (tourism), even if you went alone without your family. Being your first trip together as a family, restrict yourself to a shorter time for the trip and make sure you tell the CO in days i.e if you are going for a week, mention 7days. Also as a matter of importance, try to identify and know all about locations and children spots you intend visiting in locations such as Orlando,Miami, etc in Florida. This is where the CO will test your genuineness as a traveler this time..... |
cheromel: Ok so here is my issue;Do not state in the form that your husband will be accompanying you to the States. This may be viewed by the CO as a means to relocate to the US by your family. Since your husband has a valid visa and he traveled for a training to the US previously and came back to Nigeria, it is a plus that will work favourably for you and your child. Allow your husband to serve as a tie back home in Nigeria for the two(2) of you When you are asked by the CO regarding if your husband will accompany you on the trip, just state that he will be occupied at work for the rest of the year..... |
EvangelVicoto1: Thanks bro, so if i make corrections to the third mistake i could be granted the visa even without travel history?...can i apply in three months? To stand a better chance of success, apply in six(6) months time. And in the meantime, try traveling for evangelical purpose to another country. There are lots of African countries to visit for such assignments which would be stated on your visa.... |
A FRIEND OF MINE JUST GOT THE UK VISA HERE IN NAIJA AND ON GETTING TO UK, WISHES TO SIDE STEP INTO GERMANY FOR A WEEKEND SIGHT SEEING. TIME IS AGAINST HIM TO APPLY AND GET APPOINTMENT FOR THE GERMAN SHENGHEN VISA HERE IN NAIJA AS HE PLANS TO LEAVE FOR THE UK 1ST WEEK IN JUNE. QUESTION IS: CAN HE GET TO UK AND MAKE AN APPLICATION FOR A GERMAN VISA AT THE GERMAN CONSULATE IN LONDON, TO MAKE THE WEEKEND VISIT TO GERMANY FROM LONDON? THANK YOU.
Impossible without a resident permit in the UK.... |
EvangelVicoto1: Please house i need your help, i went for my interview today but was refused although the lady did not state the reason for the refusal.I am an Evangelist i got an invitation from a church to visit them, i am 27years,single and i will be sponsoring myself and i work with a church here in Nigeria as their Pastor.I want to re apply but first i want to know the reason for refusal cause the lady consular only asked for my bank statement(1.3m) before she refused my visa application. When she asked the reason for my visit i said ministerial tour. Please house where did i go wrong?Do not fret too much over your refusal, there were several questions that needed answers which led to the CO's refusal notice: 1. How has your travel history been before this US visa appointment interview. Have you traveled previously to any country for evangelical purposes? If your answer is ''no'', that alone is a reason to deny your application. Your travel plan was doubtful in the eyes of the CO. 2. Having 1.3m in your a/c and choosing the States as your first travel experience (if it is the case), is another reason for the CO to doubt your trip. 3. Most importantly, using a language such as ''ministerial tour'' actually meant that your reason to travel to the States was clearly vague i.e no definite plan for where to go and what to do in the States. However, if you have gone elsewhere for evangelical purpose in the past, correct the third mistake and apply in six(6) months time... |
walmart: Pls help! I have scheduled my visa appointment. The confirmation page has visa class: B1/B2. Visa Category: All others. Please the category is it supposed to be all others? You have no problem, you visa appointment class is B1/B2 (Tourism, Business or Medical). Do not worry over ''all other categories'' on the webpage.... |
Obiagelli: I am certain about every other information I gave, I just didn't know his age and I didn't even remember to ask him because I was so confident I knew everything about him. How does one knw if he has been banned or redflagedEven at that, it is presumed by the VO you lied to be favourably considered for visa approval. That on its own, is a violation of the signed agreement in your DS-160. You cannot know you're red flagged unless you are continually denied entry visa without a cogent reason, even if your application seems foolproof..... |
Obiagelli: Went 4 the interview todayI must warn you, never say what you're not sure of to the VO(s) that is an express statement for denial if you're lucky not to be banned or red flagged. You also did not have much information about your uncle you planned visiting, which was evident in you not knowing his age and it won't be a surprise, if your uncle has stayed more yrs or less in California. You have also not traveled out of Nigeria before. Another reason for the VO to deny your application. Overall, you did not convince the CO or meet the requirements of a genuine visitor who has the intention to depart the States after your presumed visit.... |
funmikosoko: Keep up the good work on this thread,I am always looking foward 2get a notification on this thread cos it educates me on visa issues.Your questions will be answered here: www.nairaland.com/823855/general-uk-visa-enquiries-part/100 |
Hi All, Congrats to those who recently got their Visas. I am so happy for you guys. I need a quick advise please: Like I said in my previous post, I will be inviting my parents for my graduation ceremony, we already booked an appointment but the mistake I made while scheduling the appointment was that I chose "renewal" of Visa instead of first time applicant. I actually thought it would be renewal because my dad was in the US on a B1/B2 Visa like 4 years ago...so I just thought it was gonna be renewal because he will be applying for the same type of Visa again(I didn't read the instructions carefully....my bad!!) Now, I am planning to cancel and re-schedule the appointment. My questions are; - How many times will I be allowed to cancel and reschedule with a receipt number? - If I cancel, will I still have the choice of changing the "renewal" thingy to first time applicant? - Does any one know how soon it is to get a date for a new-time applicant? Thank you all.
To answer your queries: 1. I believe you're allowed to use that receipt to cancel and re-shedule your interview appointment thrice. Others here can correct me if am wrong. However, why would you make entry mistakes thrice anyway? Try reading the instructions carefully before filling your forms. 2. Yes, you have the option of changing any info you desire as long as you fill a new form. Each form has its own unique barcoded numbers. 3. Dates for new interview appointment can be available soonest unlike the past where you wait close to 90days or more.... |
Funlady412: On my DS-160,i was asked my monthly salary and i wrote 155,000 which wasnt acceptable,i was told it 0-9 digits, how should i write dat,is it gonna be 155 alone?and can u pls describe US embassy in Abuja.Remove the comma sign after 155 that should give you 0-9 digits. The US Embassy in Abuja is @ Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive, Central District Area, Abuja. The easiest means is to take a cab from any where in Jabi, Wuse, Maitama, Kubwa etc all in Abuja, and the driver will convey you to the location. Just in case the cab driver fails to know the place, tell him Defence HQ close to AMAC. The US Embassy is just off the road opposite the Defence HQ. The Ghana High Commission is to your left as you proceed towards the US Embassy with the Chinese Embassy sharing a wall with the Ghana High Commission. You can't miss your destination from this point..... |
christianmarks: so goin with an expired i20 even with a letter from the school indicating that they will send a new i20 is aLready a failure at the embassy already huh?Since you have already made up your mind to go with the expired I-20 form, then goodluck to you my friend.... |
@christianmark, You ended up jamming your message with someone else's making it all inconsistent. You're new with the site i presume..? To answer your question, you better change your F-1 visa interview appointment date from 08/04/2013 to a convenient date after you receive your new i-20 from the school. Don't give the VO a reason to deny your application. That is what they (VOs) are looking to do...... |
Husmern: infact they r already requesting 4 anoda money now, they said i have to pay 100k b4 we can continue to do medical n police report and my parents r already tired of dis. i will go n liase wif dem as u said n giv u guys feedback...although in our last meetin they said i shd go n get d money ready if i dnt want my interview date to b reschedule 2 anoda month..It pains me when i see people get ripped off due to their desire not to seek for knowledge. This mistake has already been made and it is said ignorance is no excuse in Law. My friend, this is no time to be physical or intimidative. The agent(s) have the edge above you for now. Now is the time to up your game and counter attack. Let me advise you on what steps to take: 1. Go to them and demand that they open the site for you to view again, but meanwhile, go along with a smart friend who probably know your current plight. When your Case Number is being inputed in the DV site, you or your friend should pretend you are browsing or using your phone what ever reason you can think of but instead, you should be recording the Case Number on the screen. The mobile device has a zooming capabilities no need to get real close. Now is the time to become a professional. At least two of you cannot miss the numbers at the same time. You can add a lady too to spice up the game and give you more advantage. Pretend as if all of you are returning from a journey outside town with lugage to show. 2. If the first option fails, now is the time to go all out and attack. I suggest you go the military way. If you have any family friend or brother or friend who is a soldier, plead with him and take him along he knows how many of his kind to involve. The rest will be history. Mind you, prepare to forfeit the monies you have expended so far in case the two option fails. The agents loses and you also lose. You're the Principal Applicant and the Case Number is useless to them without you. Play the next DV Lottery yourself.... |
Topsymyyear: No thumbprint or biometrics was taken as at 2002.You can then give it a shot since your biometrics were missing. But what will you now fill in the column where previous application to travel to the States is asked..? |
Topsymyyear: I've applied for us visa in 2002 twice but was refused. Now im planning to apply as a tourist . I have 2 swedish resident permit ,2 poland visa ,czech republic, ireland, kenya ,south africa and tanzania in my passport. My question is this,do i need to fill in that have been refused 11yrs ago or applied before? i changed my year of birth but still remain other informations. Pls i need responce. Thank uWith all due respect, i employ you not to apply to visit the US now or in the future. You have committed a very serious crime by changing your date of birth from what was obtainable 11yrs ago. It would have been a lesser crime if what you had was a change of name. But with this, it is a LIFE BAN you will earn yourself. Your only solution is to remain with this identity and forget any form of travel to the States. It is a good thing you opened up.... |
israel007: Do they really exchange those info? Most times, especially when the UK need to re-clarify certain information from the US regarding an applicant; and to ascertain his/her intentions or previous immigration records. The UK also liaise with some Shengen member states of (Germany, France, Sweden to mention a few). An already issued valid visa(s)of these countries can be sent to such embassies by the UK for cancellation, if an element of doubt or fraud is discovered in your UK visa application and you already hold such valid Shengen visas. Do not doubt this.... |
shiba0147: Thanks tzetszetfly pls he got denied last year december through b1/b2(non imigrant ) now he wants to change his name on the pasport because of our new surename in the passport, hope after changing his name there will not be a problem when he goes for the new interview because of the new name in his pasport ,pls can someone answer me plsIf he is sincere in the name change and not for ulterior motive, then there is no problem with this action. But since he has already visited the US Consulate previously for visa purposes and got denied, then i will advise him not to go anywhere near the US embassy for close to two(2) years after his name change and new passport is approved by the Nigerian Immigration Service. Because he will not get his visa approved at the US embassy but only earn himself a RED FLAG. Let him travel someplace else for tourism purpose. And if he choose to apply to the UK, he must indicate he has used another passport (the one that carries his old name) the US and UK shares info on immigration matters..... |
israel007: When u are denied visa, does the us embassy still stamp passport? It is no more stamped, but your biometrics are taken @ the embassy and with this, you cannot use any other identity to obtain entry visa..... |
