holluwai: Ultimately what one needs is FAVOR when it comes to US visa. 5 of us were ment to attend the conference. We all do no have past traveling experience but 2 of us were granted the visa and yes the conference sure is related to my work so I will just insist it was the dude at window5 that just did what he felt like doing.

Sorry to read of your refusal, there are lots of factors that play into this situation:

1. The mood of the CO.

2. Attitude of previous interviewees before you.

3. Your presentation under these circumstances (1&2)during your own interview. This may have taken a similar shape of previous denials by the same CO. He had no choice but to view you in similar light. Do not forget they are pressed for limited interview time.

4. Lastly, your body language during the interview.

TAKE NOTE:
Do not be deceived that the CO is not observing you as he is busy typing on his system. It is a trick.

Your Solution:

1. Along with your other staff denied visa, apply together as a group under the same visa category.

2. Do not change the purpose for which you're going to the States i.e., never apply for pleasure until you guys get the conference visa.

3. Meet with the others and let us know why they were refused visa. So we can advise better.

You need a valid credit card to book an accomodation in western countries or you can get in touch with genuine travel agents.

Few good ones abound in Nigeria....

You should show ties to your home country in the form of paid employment, marriage, kids, assets etc.

With these and not showing you desperately need the visa during interview, you're good to go....

Being your first time as a traveller, your chances looks slim. You will need to prove to the VO that you're a genuine traveller who wishes to depart the US on expiration of your visit.

It is not compulsory you know someone in the US before going for vacation. Previous holiday experience abroad, only helps to sway the CO's decision in your favour.

Since you've paid for appointment, give it a try. Best of luck...

And also the wiligness / intention to leave the States at the expiration of your intended duration of studies hopefully with evidence of a job waiting for you in Nigeria after graduation.

Even at that, it is uncertain to sway the CO's mind in your favour.....

I'm a car dealer here in Nigeria with a registered company incorporated last year. I'm registered with Insurance Auto Auction as an exporter of cars in the USA.

I have the underlisted.

Marriage certificate/wedding pictures

Two kids/birth certificates/ family picture.

Bank statements of account, Savings, current and Domiciliary accounts.

I also pay directly from my bank here in Nigeria after winning a bid at the Auctions.

What Are my chances of getting USA visa

The CO(s) now frown at travellers engaging in importation of cars and trucks, reasons not clearly defined but the US Customs and Border Protection Agency may have a thing or two to do with this.

I will advise you get an American agent to do the shipping for you, and you only get to do the clearing in Nigeria to save yourself a red flag.....

igbankebabe: Hi Gbenge 77, Tzetzefly and the forum geniuses. I have a question. If one applies for a US Spousal visa, does the US Embassy hold on to the international passport?

My sister has a b2 visa that expires in 6 months but she also wants to apply for a spousal visa so by the time it's processing, she can still travel on her b2. Is this doable?

1. The US Embassy will never hold on to your passport except for a few days when you're certain to be issued with visa.

2. She had better use the 6 months remaining on her visa before applying for a spousal visa, because as soon as she applies, the valid B2 visa will be cancelled pending the outcome of her new application.

Income is stable, family ties on point. I'm an entrepreneur with a registered company, but newly incorporated. I decided to start up mine haven't worked in family business for 6years. Do i need to show CO some prove of my past work?

Sure boss. I'm going strictly for tourism not to buy phones or cars. Let me reiterate, i said i usually buy phones from newyork through the help of a friend, same friend also bought a car for me recently which i will resell here. I'm saying my income is from my company (AGO procurement) sales of phones and cars which makes up my annual income.

Will i shoot myself in the leg if i mention to the CO i have a friend in new york who helps in buying phones and cars?

Please be precise, tell me how to go about it, dos and don't. It's not a do or die thing for me, i'm only going there to spend my hard earn cash

Good for you to have that mindset of the visa not being ''a do or die affair''. However, never tell the CO about purchases like cars or otherwise for resale in Nigeria. You will end up shooting yourself in the leg.

Your previous work and the present one is necessary to give the CO an impression of economic continuity.

I'm 31years old, I will be applying for a visitor's visa this month, though appointment not yet booked.

I'm visiting strictly for tourist/to enjoy my life , sight seeing.

- i have three months left on my passport and i have been advised to renew which i have done ( so it looks news) no record of previous traveling exposure.

- i intend to spend 15 days in new york, hotel reservation, i don't need an invitation letter from this my friend. No time for too much questions.

Question is, what are my chances of having the visa?

Please advice. Or is there something missing? Or is there something i should add? Is my company too young, it's an oil and gas marketing business, outsourcing of AGO for corporate organisations.

To start with, never tell the CO you intend to buy car(s) or any gadgets from the States for resale in Nigeria. That will earn you instant denial. What you're going for is tourism not business.

You circumstance in Nigeria will determine if you will be issued a visa or not i.e. stable job, income at your disposal, family ties and travel experience (especially for vacation).....

I have been an avid reader but I never contributed. I applied for a tourist visa and took a lot of tips on here. I had my interview on the 9th and dressed sharply and formal with my I.D card on.
After all the protocols were duly observed. I was called to booth 2, which I did not pay any attention to all along. The interview took less than 4 minutes. She was a middle aged Caucasian.

Me: Good Morning (with a smile)
Interviewer: Morning (with a smile)

May I have your passport and application. I gave her.

Interviewer: Why do you intend to travel?
Me: For my vacation.

Interviewer: How long do you intend to spend?
Me: 21 days.

Interviewer: Are you married?
Me: No

Interviewer: Any Children?
Me: Not yet.

Interviewer: Where and who will you be staying with?
Me: Brooklyn NY. My aunt.

Interviewer: Where do you work?
Me: Lagos State Govt (She starts typing furiously) Bla bla bla

Interviewer: How much do you earn monthly?
Me: 224.... ( She looks up to the wall to check something)

Interviewer: Have you travelled out of the country before?
Me: Yes. United Kingdom

Interviewer: How many times?
Me: About 4

(She opens my passport and looks through it)

(She grabs a paper from her right side)

Interviewer: please pick up your visa on Tuesday. Have a nice day.
Me: Thank you. Have a nice day.

This was less than 5 minutes and none of my documents was requested for.
I was absolutely scared before I went up to her. I had analysed the available interviewers and it didn't look good until I was called to her. There were more immigrants visa been given than non- immigrants.
All I can say is
Dress your wage
Look her in her eyes
B confident and remember every single detail of what is on your form.
If possible travel to other places first.
A good income will aid you.

Please advise.[/quote]In the online form filled by that individual, a column for academic qualifications was entered by him, documents to proof such academic claims will have to be presented to the CO including his WAEC result, for verification.

He will be presenting a WAEC document that shows discrepancy in his birth date. Hence the advise.

You look good in terms of certain ties to Nigeria. However the important questions are:

1. Have you travelled abroad in the past for any reason whatsoever, or for a similar course(s)?

2. Who is sponsoring this trip, your organisation or self sponsored?

Has he at any time filled your data with the US Dept of State on any capacity or as his spouse?

You need to tender your original birth certificate showing your date of birth and all information about your parents i.e. their full names and place of birth. This certificate must also indicate an authorised signature and date, prior to the period of your waec.

If you dont have this birth certificate mentioned above, then you must state why you are not in possession of such document ( either damaged or lost), through a police report after swearing a court affidavit.

NOTE:
Hope you are not shying from your real age?
Please, do not go for an arranged police report, ensure what you have is an original document......

Yes, it will be verified. Any discrepancies on your documents need to be rectified legally, to ensure conformity with embassy regulations...

so my husband has a pending F4 application, which i'm thinking may not be favorable for my tourist application, should i apply without him, iv been to the Uk twice, SA once, Dubai once, Ghana and Kenya once and should be going to France and Italy in 2 weeks (hopefully).


I have a good job about 600k per month and almost 2m in my account and some savings in mutual funds...


He also has a good travel history, schooled in the Uk for 4 years, then came back to naija after school, been to about 4 schengen countries, However he has been denied US visa twice while he was schooling in the UK and he suspects it may be because of the pending F4 application..but then he was a student, now he is working, has a gd job too and has some money saved and he is married, so that may be ties to naija.

So what do u guys think, his F4 date is 2006 and the bulletin is still in 2002, meaning he still has at least 5 years wait for that

and if i apply alone wont they ask me why i'm travelling alone and wont i have to declare my hubs name? my passport is still my maiden name, but my office letter, bank statement etc is in my maiden name

Leader of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has dared the House of Representatives and leaders of northern Nigeria to arrest him if they can.

Dokubo-Asari, who spoke with journalists on
Wednesday evening in Abuja, said he stood by his words that there would be no peace if Jonathan is not reelected in 2015.

He was responding to calls by members of the House, Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State and northern leaders, saying the leaders were cowards if he was not arrested.

The former President of Ijaw Youth Council also added that any attempt to arrest him would make Nigeria "a history", asking why those calling for his arrest turned deaf ears when some northern leaders like former Military Head of State Maj.-Gen Mohamadu Buhari, Alhaji Lawal Kaita and a former member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Aliyu, among others.

He said, "I stand by my statement which I made in my early press conference. There will be no peace, not only in the Niger Delta, but everywhere, if Goodluck Jonathan is not president by 2015. "I want to refresh your memories with comments made by these northerners, who had in the time past threatened war and break-up of Nigeria.

"In 2010, one Lawal Kaita said and I quote:
'Anything short of a Northern President is
tantamount to stealing our Presidency. Jonathan has to go and he will go. Even if he uses the incumbency power to get his nomination on the platform of the PDP, he would be frustrated out… The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Goodluck Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the party's zoning policy'.

"Today insurgent groups, in furtherance to Kaita's call a're wreaking havoc, attacking military barracks and seizing weapon, but we will not sit and watch. Kaita made this statement, nobody arrested or call for the arrest of this fellow, today he is walking free. "Buhari made this statement in 2011, he was never arrested and nobody ever called for his arrest. In other countries, former leaders are being tried, but here, a man who overthrew a legitimate government, continues to threaten us with blood and nothing has happened.

" He added, "I am not afraid of arrest. I am saying it bold and clear without mincing words, that the consequences of my rrest, Nigeria will be history.
