fame12k: @ tzetzefly, dis guy dat is claiming visa free, until port of entry, do u think its real? because dis can mislead alot of people.
I must tell you, not everything you hear is real. The visa is issued in Nigeria before departure. Infact, no airline official in MMIA or NAIA will let you board without that visa in your passport.

I have visited that country a number of times through JNIA, KIA and ZIA and not on any occassion did i get visa on arrival on the Nigerian passport .

The visas have always been issued at their High Commission in Abuja at those times.

The only nationals that you see filling forms for the issuance of visa on arrival are eligible nationals....

So sorry about this, you will have to try your luck and hope for favour that you will not have to wait years before you visit the States.

Try the conference visa route in your area of specialization, and hope for luck. My only worry is this is your first time travel....
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 1:24pm On Apr 29, 2013
@hastron,

Since you now have a son in between, you will not be able to lie in this application. You need to tell the CO you have a child and i hope you do have his birth documents with you. Because they (VO) will ask for them and the details of your spouse...

Asorock 1: It wasn't a deliberate act honestly, I already submitted the form n was going through it when I read the question again, but then I asked my boss who has been to US and he told me that it doesn't matter, yet I wasn't satisfy so I decided to seek the opinion of the house...in your opinion I should refill another form right ?
Actually you are not applying for F-1 visa so it may not count much. But with these CO's and their discretions you never can tell. I hope they dont view this as concealing information. Why fill a university qualification and leave out the secondary level? It may look as nothing to you or someone else, but have a lot of meaning to them (COs)....
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 12:12pm On Apr 29, 2013
Asorock 1: @tzetzefly thanks for the prompt reply and the good work, it means I don't need to refill another ds160 form righthuh Again at the educational history, I only filled the university I attended without including secondary school, hope it doesn't matter as well huh
Thanks more advice are welcome
God bless
Why did you not indicate your secondary school, was it an oversight or a deliberate act?

The essence of filling this form is to have your detailed biography and consistency in future applications. If it wont be a problem to you, fill another form and show all necessary details about yourself.....

Asorock 1: suxes 2005,tzetzefly and gbenge 77 and everyone in the house i need your advice on this please.
I already filled and submitted my ds160 form for a B2 tourist visa and I'm waiting for an available slot on June for my interview....but what bothers me is my ds160 form.
At the space where they asked the locations I will be visiting in the state, I just stated Chicago, IL, is this ok?? or do I need to state the places in Chicago where the tourist attractions I will be visiting are?? Please note I already submitted my signed ds160 form. Does this have any negative effect on my chance for a visa approval or do i need to fill another formhuh
Please urgent reply is needed
God bless you
Do not panic, not filling any tourist location in Chicago, has no bearing on the outcome of your visa application. The CO will ask you this question during your interview.....

hastron: suxes 2005,tzetzefly and gbenge 77 i need your advice on this.

I am a Fibre Engineer with one of the Telecom giants in Nigeria, My wife won The Dv lottery some years back, when we were still dating, people advised that we lie that we were married so that we could both get the Immigrant Visa, but i did not do that, She has been coming to and fro,she gave birth to our son last November,Now i want to go see my son as i am planning on going on leave soon,I need to know if i can apply and state my reason which would be to go see my son? should i register for a conference /Training that's in line with my job? or can i register for the conference and still states that i also want to go see my son?
I am a first time traveller and also do not need my wife to do any filling for me as my job here is what we still depend on .please suggestions would be appreciated .
Either way, your visa will not be approved if the CO knows that your wife is in the States on a Green Card. You will be asked by the VO to apply for spouse visa this takes several years to scale through except if she now becomes a US Citizen.

If you have not indicated married in your DS-160 form at anytime or your wife has not filled any form in the States indicating your name in whatever capacity or as the father of her son, then apply as single and maintain this till an approriate time when you both are ready to file for Spouse Visa.....

Bunmiemich: This is a great thread, jst finished reading frm d 1st page. You guys av been doing a great job on here. God bless u all. I am a graduate of computer science n a CCNA though with limited working xperience (currently serving corper 2 pass out by June). My interest in Dubai is more of education n work as I intend 2 work n do my masters in dubai. I av an uncle in dubai who am hoping ll help n also stay with. I intend 2 study 4 a microsoft prog(MCITP) n also do volunteer jobs 2 get experience b4 leaving 4 dubai n also maybe wen I get dia while looking 4 a job attend a training couse. So my questions re thus:
1) can I start my masters in dubai with a work visa? After like 6mnts work, I intend 2 study Network n System admin @ RIT as a prt time stud with lectures in d evening n weekends.
2) if yes can I being realistic be able 2 get a job 2 fund my master studies (@ RIT dubai, tuition 78720aed ova 18mnts)? With maybe a little help frm home
3) As I intend 2 keep on attending training programs while on d job is it possible 2 change jobs if I get a better offer?
4) considering am nt renting an apartment, wat amount 2 u tink I ll be spending on costs like Tfare/feeding + other general costs per mnt?
Please every1 dat av been contributing, pls I wnt ur views nt only on my questions alone bt on my post as a whole, wat do u tink, am I been realistic enough. Thanks n lking 4ward 2 ur replys. Keep up d good work n God bless you all.
If you have close to that amount you claim (78720 AED), why not apply for a post graduate studies in Finland since your specialty is computer science.

There is an opportunity for internship during studies depending on your program desire and school of choice, and a 6 months work permit for you after graduation if you desire to work in the country. This can subsequently lead to a PR as the case may be.

Just a suggestion anyway....

Tanzania visas must be obtained by Nigerian passport holders from the Tanzania High Commission in their home country before departure for United Republic of Tanzania. This has been the case for years even for holders of Nigerian official passports.

The address of the High Commission is:

Tanzanian High Commission,
11, Ganges Street,
Ministers Hill,
Maitama,
Abuja,
Nigeria.

aronto: Dear friends, a friend just introduced me to this forum yesterday and asked me to post my enquiries.I'm scheduled for interview on tuesday with my 2yr old daughter at the US embassy and my plann is to have my second baby there due 1st wk in jun.I had my 1st daughter in UK wit all bills cleared and just renewed our visa. How prepared should I be?I have saved for this and a friend is inviting me.I also intend going for the interview with my Hubby.
There is no problem with your intentions for medical tourism (a B2 visa), but the real issue is being able to foot your medical bills which for now, has been officially stated by the US Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria that applicants are to present a bank statement indicating verifiable funds to the tune of $140,000.

If you meet this criteria above and your circumstances in Nigeria is right, i see no reason why your application will not be approved.....
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m): 8:37am On Apr 28, 2013
2n2k: @tzetzefly. Thanks for the prompt and helpful explanation. I appreciate.

lol at "do not appear desperate for visa". Actually the opposite has been my attitude in all previous visa applications I have ever made. I was always like it is my money I want to go and spend in your country. What the heck. Incidentally I have never been denied a visa and I have never done it thru any agent

Our next vacation is a 40 days stretch taking us to 3 countries of which only 11 days will be spent in USA. Reading people's experience on this thread made me start wondering that if US visa is this unreasonably difficult, we better substitute it with another country. The vacation starts in August, we have not even started processing visa for the other 2 countries which from past exprience we can start as late as 2 weeks to the trip.

After reading your reply, I decided to schedule the interview. I was surprised that suggested slot for us is as early as May 6th. That fast. I was under the impression the waiting period is like 2 to 3 months. That was why we started early.
The idea is that most Nigerians see the visa approval as a do or die affair thats why a lot of denials have come from showing a negative body language during interviews.

Also the US visa from my own perspective, is the easiest visa to come by. You have the privilege and advantage of facing the VO and proving your case and at times, even without a single document being checked, imagine that.

Recently, there has been a lot of changes made to the visa appointment wait times to allow those in need of entry visas to the US do so without delays, this is a commendable milestone from the State Department.

Wish you luck in your interview.....wink
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):
2n2k: Can someone kindly help

I applied for tourist visa for my family of 6. (we have history of family vacation within and outside Nigeria) BUT

1) I observed that none of our pictures I uploaded appear on the confirmation paper. Only X appear in the part where the picture should have been with instruction to bring 2 by 2 photo to the interview. Is this normal?

2) apart from my wife and I, our children are aged 14, 12, 10 and 4 years. The first 3 are in boarding school. Are the children expected to attend interview also given their age? Especially in the light of 'non-uploading' of their digital pictures as stated earlier.

3) USA is only a part of our itineraries as we will arrive there from another country and depart there for another country. Flights already booked but re-schedulable. However the visa application only asked about the US visit and I only stated that leg. Will the embassy officer see this as false information?

4) I read somewhere here that it is better to leave part of the family behind as a 'tie'. This is not an option for us. We either go together or stay behind together. This I intended telling the visa officer. Does it mean US frown at family vacation?

Thanks
1. Yes, it is normal to show the ''x'' mark. Take along your 2x2 passport photos to the interview.

2. Anyone less than 14yrs of age need not be present for the interview. However, to be on a safe side, everyone accompanying you on this trip should come along to the interview for the VO to sight them.

3. Your entry visa to that destination suffices. This is what the CO will want to see in your passport as proof you will be entering the States from where you claimed.

4. Not always true. Your circumstances in Nigeria determines the mindset of the CO. Adopt a calm and relaxed approach, do not appear desperate for the visa...
SportsThe Ten Best Comments From Tito Vilanova’s Press Conference by tzetzefly(op):
Tito Vilanova spoke to the press today about his
return to Barcelona and the first team’s form in his
first official conference since returning from
treatment in New York.

1) “I feel well after all that I’ve been through, I
didn’t come back any earlier because there were
some secondary effects. But I’m feeling better with every day and I was really looking forward to returning here”.

2) “I never considered giving up my job . It is no burden to me and the doctors told me that the best
thing I could do was to work”.

3) “Within cycles, titles come in peaks. We have made it into six semi finals. Next season it will be hard to make it seven ”.

4) “We are Barça and we are playing at home. It would be unbelievable of me to say that we can easily come back. It will be difficult, but our obligation is to win. The game will tell us. We cannot say that we are incapable of making a
comeback against Bayern”.

5) “I would have understood any decision by the Club [if they had looked to replace him]. We should be happy that the players have managed to hold themselves in the league and be grateful for the effort they have made”.

6) “To me, it doesn’t change the way we should think about the players or the squad. My approach to meetings will not change because of these results. We have won everything, some of the players are young, others are not, but they are
all very keen, and that’s the best thing”.

7) “You can always improve. I think we’re having an excellent league season, competing with some very strong teams , and we have done a lot of things very well, although I do agree that
some could have been better”.

cool “I haven’t spoken to Víctor Valdés. He said he wouldn’t be renewing his contract, not that he won’t be here next season. His attitude in training and matches is just as spectacular”.

9) “When we lose a game, it’s to just say that we should change the players. Who do we bring in? It isn’t easy to adapt to this club. The basis of this team is the basis for the Spain team”.

10) “Jordi Roura didn’t have an easy role. He did a very good job of it. I’m also very grateful on a personal level. He did well, and so did Aureli Altimira and all of the other coaching staff. Now we
have better staff than we did when I left”.

@Phemobay, i employ you to be patient. Do not change your data so soon after your last refusal you may further be denied your application. I am telling you this honest truth, based on experience from two friends i know.

The first has been denied five times already and has taken a break from the US Embassy. His wife secured the F-1 visa in 2011 and she is in the States presently. He changed items in his profile soon after refusal, which further earned him several refusals.

The other guy has been denied twice already. He is not applying anytime soon.

Travel elsewhere, there are so many places to go for pleasure. Give your application ample time for your travel circumstance to change.

I am thinking of coming clean by saying the agent filled the form wrongly or using a very good escuse
If the agent filled your form wrongly, did you not take some time to go over it again? This is the likely question the CO will ask you. What now will then be your response?

You need to tell the CO the basic truth this will save you from further complications.....
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):
franco273: Hello tzetzefly

I have a little problem, back in 2008 when I was still naive and ignorant I was fooled by an agent who said he had connections @ the USA embassy, well I found the hard truth when I was refused. My problem now is that when I applied for visiting then, he filled the form as me being married , with a kid and having my own business, details like wife's name, dob, business name and kid's dob I can't recall since it was a lie, now I want to apply again and thinking of putting separated as marriage details . But the form still asks for ex spouse's date of birth and previous work history which I can't recall, what can I do? Or should I come out straight but don't want to get a permanent ban
Your case is a serious scenario. It will be difficult to lie to the CO regarding your former data.

Even if you claim ignorance in your previous application, there is no way you can forget your own details and that of your ex-wife.The CO will not fall for this trick.

I suggest you either come clean, face the CO and tell the truth as it is irrespective of the outcome, or forget any trip to the States.....

oshonuru: Hi friends,
I would like to know if i have chances for securing a US Tourist visa (Conference). I am billed to attend a conference next month. I have made hotel reservations, invitation letter and my embassy interview is scheduled 27th of this month, few days time.
Where i presently work i earn about than N110,000 (3years experience, NO travel experience with not too rich bank statement, like about a million, does this figure pose a threat? Like how much would i need to have?
I would like to know if there are any other requirements apart from those?
Also, i learnt sometimes one might be fortunate not to have them ask for any documents at all, just series of questions. I would like to know the kinds of questions i should be expecting.
I'll really appreciate your inputs, and i'll come here to testify.
Help a brother.... embarassed...im in my early 30's.
The interview date is real close, i believe there is nothing God cannot do.
I hope you paid for that conference? If not, you have a mountain to climb.

The reason why you are travelling to the States is not for tourism, but business (conference). Do not say tourism because that will mean you are unaware of your reasons to travel to the US, which is an outright refusal.

Where you work matters and signifies economic tie to your country. The 1m naira balance in your a/c is of less importance to the CO, what really counts is your circumstances in Nigeria and the inflow and outflow of verifiable cash in your a/c.

Concerntrate on what the conference is all about and its importance to your job schedule. This is another area the CO will be interested in.

By and large, not having a travel experience prior to this interview may be an obstacle you should be able to overcome.

1. Try to appear attentive, confident and be bold.

2. Listen carefully to the questions from the CO and answer them without irrelevant details.

3. Do not appear desperate for the visa

4. Smile and look at the CO in the eyes, but do not stare.

What if I'm asked how long we would to stay in the state?
The duration of his treatment in the States even if it is tentative, is necessary for the CO to know. Call the Doctor and ask him, or better still tell the Doctor to send this information via email for documentary evidence.

thanks... please I still need more of ur advice on dis... thanks and God bless
A word of caution, changing items in your profile immediately after a visa refusal is a guaranteed denial and a red flag. I believe this is not what you want at this time.

I only advised you to wait six months to make your circumstances improve and give you a positive chance to secure this visa. Patience is what you need here.

Nevertheless, it seems that you have made up your mind to reapply next month (May) irrespective of my advise to do otherwise. Well, i can only wish you goodluck and favour in your endeavour......
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by tzetzefly(m):

I never said they do not give visas to first time applicants, but the circumstances determines the approval of such applications.
However, having a genuine reason for a first time travel, assists such decision and the CO has a final say in the matter.

If you make this changes so soon as you have planned, it further raises suspicion on your motive for travel. Do just what i have told you, travel someplace else get travel experience and change your current status.

Apply after six(6) months as a pleasure traveller and not for conference purposes, this shows consistency in your application and clears any doubt.

All the best.....

I can see from your first post that some pertinent questions were asked you by the CO. Those were the areas that needed answers you could not give.

1. You do not have any travel experience
2. Your take home pay was not stated clearly in the DS-160
3. The duration of your stay, 20days was too long in comparism to your take home pay.
4. Your other business that fetch you extra income, needed to be stated clearly for verification
5. Business/conference visa in your
specialised area should have been the better option for you and not tourist visa
6. You cant apply now or else your
application will be refused again.
7. Apply after 6 months when you would
have made this changes.
8. Travel someplace else to change your
status.

You will be speaking for him since you are the one accompanying him to Maryland for his treatment. He is assumed to be under your care for the duration of his stay in Maryland and departure back to Nigeria.

Confirm from the Doctor in Maryland how long the treatment will last so you can inform the CO about this which will also give you an idea on how many days' accomodation you will book.

He can only answer if the CO ask him specific questions which i doubt. And lest i forget, he must go with a letter from his school that he has been permitted to proceed on this journey and his school ID Card.....
