Hatesin:I responded to your email but the feedback was "email address couldn't be found" This is my contact 08136140608 |
FEGEITOK:Your knowledge base is really wide. |
Hatesin:I just sent you an email. |
The earliest known building code. Zoom in to see the interpretations at the base. Men meant business back then.

Architectural designs can be subjective, usually in designs of residential buildings a level of compromise should be achieved between the designers knowledge and the clients needs and requirement, in reality it is a 50-50 situation. This is the reason why homeowners should be actively involved in the conceptualization of their designs. Why guests toilets are positioned in the foyer or lounge areas of the buildings usually is to maintain privacy, owing to the fact that foyers and lounge are a semi public area where guests have not too restricted access. It is only right to place the toilets there to avoid the guests getting to know what goes on in other parts of the building which might be private. A smelly and unkept guest toilet is a function of hygiene and not an Architectural failure, after all people go to toilets of big hotels and establishments to take pictures and dress up. A guest that messes up your toilet should not get an invite another day lol. PS: The design here is a 4 bedroom bungalow with a pent apartment.

michlins:Prefer having full lengths of 37/38ft for increased pressure. |
michlins:Why not 4 lengths of channels? Don't like cut and join on tank stands. |
DoctorWh00:To be honest with you, that drawing isn't fit to be called an Architectural drawing let alone done by someone portraying himself to be an Architect. The drawing lacks the basic features required of an Architectural working drawing. For instance, take a look at the floorplan posted there; no indication for floor level difference, no door and window codes, very poor dimensioning, no north arrow, no floor/ceiling finishings codes etc etc. For the elevation; no spot heights, no indication for doors/windows, no specification for external finishes etc etc. How could you probably call this 8 sheets of drawing a work of Architecture? For the records, the minimum basic features of an Architectural working drawings includes; Location plan Site plan Floor plans Roof plan Roof covering plan Roof framing plan ( for wooden works only) Reflected ceiling plan Sections Elevations Details Door/window schedules Finishes Schedules. Finally 3Ds In each of this features, there are a lot of information each should showcase which I may not be able to go into details here. Following this basic features religiously one could get as much as 20sheets of well detailed drawings for a 4-5bedroom bungalow not to talk of this one with about 2/3 suspended floors. Lastly, @ Oga Unzend please pay him his money after all there was no agreement on the basic deliverables. Left for me, this does not qualify to be called an Architectural working drawing, infact any Architect that seals such drawings needs to be questioned. I rest my case. |
unzend:These things here doesn't qualify as an Architectural working drawing. if it were to go through a proper approval process, it won't fly. NB: I am not taking sides or trying to fuel disputes, my comment is only based on my training and professional experience. |
We have taken a little break on this project while working to actualize other projects, that has been the reason for not updating this thread timely. We will be resuming work after the festivities. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MEN OF GOODWILL. |
When will resume by January 2023, we will be making a slight adjustment to the parapet by adding extra two course of blocks. This is to enable us get a considerable slope for water run off on the roof system. Some views of the guest house.
|
Amarisco:Merry Christmas to you and your household. Unfortunately due to some financial constraints from the sponsor of the project we couldn't meet up with the scheduled practical completion time. We have resolved to continue with the project by the 3rd week of January. The following is top of our scope: 1.Fabrication and installation of steel roof for the hall. 2. Construction of the wooden roof frame and installation of Aluminum sheets for the guesthouse. 3. Construction of security house. 4. Finishes (some parts of the buildings have been plastered already). Thanks for checking up on our project. Reminder: we are done with the parapet coping.
|
michlins:Good morning Oga Michlins. Between 75*75*3mm angle iron and 75*75*3mm square pipe, which has more strength? Are they of equal strength? Asking to learn. |
More pictorials.

Good day great nairalanders. It's been a while I updated this thread. We have been working gradually. Updates. 1. Hold-down bolts and base plates have been installed. 2. Roof beam concrete fully cast. 3. Parapet have been erected, ready to receive R.C. Coping. 4. Guest house about to receive concrete fascia.
|
money121:Nawao. This is not as easy as you think. |
unzend:Your roof frame is done and ready to receive covering. At this point reducing the height means that you will have to dismantle all the rafters, purlins, kingposts, structs, ridges and valleys as all would be affected. Practically you are starting a new roof frame. Roof pitch is a factor of design. Assuming you wanted a high or low pitch roof, you should have monitored the kingpost at the design and formation stage and not now that the job is 100 percent done. Cost of deconstructing this roof frame may be as much as the cost for constructing the frame. |
EgunMogaji2:Thanks Baba. |
Tiztonio:You are welcome sir. Your intention is in order. |
Coiner:It isn't ideal. Designers, builders and home owners just do that for want of space. You will agree with me that most homes where the gates are placed at the extreme, the style of parking there is usually tandem parking. If your lot can afford a turning radius of 6m for cars, go ahead and place your gate wherever you want. |
Tiztonio:For a hidden mono pitch roof, the parapet (wall) offers enough protection against wind. A coping doesn't serve against wind effect. Coping is used to protect parapet(walls against dampness due to rain. It comes with a trotting which allows rain to drop off from the coping to the ground without touching the walls (unfortunately most builders don't do it here). It is important your coping projects up to 150mm so as to offer better protection to the wall For a mono pitch roof with eaves and fascia, the steel rope/ tie rod binding the wall plate and tie beam to do roof beam or last course of block is enough to act against wind effect except the wind forces in your locality is extreme. |
EgunMogaji2:Education still remains the foundation. ![]() |
michlins:Well-done Oga Boss. |
bolu1986:Really? I got for #8900 yesterday in Owerri. Abs here is #9500. About a month ago I bought at the rate of #6700.
|
More pictorials. Meanwhile, we are about to commission a roof subcontractor to handle the fabrication and installation of the steel roof frames
|
Updates. Roof beam formwork 80 percent done. Iron fitting ongoing.
|
Amarisco:Thank you ma'am for your interest on this project. Please keep following for more updates. |
The rendering of the internal face of the ground floor walls have also commenced. Please keep following for updates. |
Good day nairalanders. We just commenced the roof beam/fascia formwork.
|
redgem:Please, using hammer on those doors is not the best corrective measure. Uninstall the doors, get a good welder to amend them and get a good mason to install it back. It will come out fine. |
Formworks have been struck off.
