Nairaland General › Re: My Sister Lost Her Purse And A Sincere Nigerian Picked And Returned It (photos) by UcheforGod(f): 8:52pm On May 12, 2021 |
UbChapter: Nigeria seems hopeless and the humanity in Nigerians even more hopeless but there are things that happen around that point otherwise to the above assertions.
While anybody can make mistake in life as there's no one above mistake, this is how my sister mistakenly lost her purse inside a taxi she boarded to the market this morning in Calabar, Cross River state. Of course, anybody would immediately become traumatized losing his/her money in such a manner and definitely, her case wasn't different as she was traumatized and devastated regarding the incident.
The purse had her money (N18,500) and her cell phone inside. Luckily for her and as God would have it, a Nigerian by name Uche (just his first name) picked the purse from the taxi. He said he even showed the purse to the taxi driver and he (the taxi driver) wanted to collect the purse from him claiming he (the taxi driver) knows my sister very well and he's always been the one bringing her to the market when in reality, that's very far from the truth. Uche said it got to a point where he struggled the purse with the taxi driver as he was adamant in handing over the purse to the taxi driver and finally left with the purse.
As a good Nigerian, he opened the purse and started making contacts with people on how to get to my sister to come get her purse back (obviously looks like a dream in today's Nigeria). In no time, my sister ran to me and I called her line which the phone was in the purse. Someone picked which happened to be the said Uche. He directed us to where to meet him and swiftly we went. Brothers and sisters, behold, we met Uche with his colleagues in his place of work. Everything in the purse was still intact and he handed over the purse back to my sister in the presence of his colleagues. In thanking and trying to show appreciation, Uche declined any monetary appreciation and only received the "God bless you" as we were telling him.
This action of Uche has without doubts proven that all hope especially in humanity has not lost in this country. Looking at the present economic hardship in the country, some people would have rushed at this believing it's God that answered their prayer but today's case with Uche, the opposite was the case. My sister and I cannot thank him enough. This is why I want you guys to join in thanking Uche for being a sincere Nigerian and for whose act is rare to come by in today's Nigeria. Please help us thank and appreciate. This is the kind of people we should celebrate in this country.
Please let this go far by sharing it on other social media platforms. God bless Uche! God bless all sincere Nigerians!! God bless Nigeria!!! God bless you my name sake. I would have done the same as well. |

light099: The thread seemed perfect until I saw 'Africa's biggest Artist, Davido'. Op is obviously pulling off an expensive joke up there and only teasing the Frogged voice. Froggy never claimed himself to be versatile singer. He's only an artiste in the minds of wacks. Is it composition, lyrical message, singing voice or singing ability? He has non of these, the reason why he sees himself more as a clout chaser than a musician. 'Lonely' by Akon beats all the albums of Froggy and those Chinagorom Onuoha (Africa China) old school songs are way ahead of his unreleased future albums. Get the record straight, these are some of the greatest artistes in Nigeria - Tuface, Psquare, Lagbaja, Nosa and many others. Especially you'd notice some of these artistes are multi-talented. Psquare can dance and sing, Lagbaja is a skillful singer and also a good saxophonist. It's only in a clueless indomie generation filled with confused wack kids, you see people pick a talentless frog over multi-talented individuals. This generation of Nigerian indomie generation are so wack and confused, and are highly susceptible to mental manipulations. They don't know what good, quality premium stuffs look like. That is why it's easy to force any wack down their throats. Musically, Oritsefemi is a better singer than Froggy.
This is sad for Nigeria at 60; the old men are clueless, the younger generation is even more clueless, wack and confused. Advanced countries are not filled with some clueless people who just got lucky. These are highly sophisticated minds who keep getting their shiit right, over and over. Y'all can't continue to think like unsophisticated wacks, while you continue to expect your country to look like America. Some things are never achieved by luck or accident. The argument, philosophy and mentality of a typical kid on a forum like this, could make Aristotle writhe in his grave. Too many wacks in the land. More sadly, as clueless as everyone is, you see that people are still arrogant in ignorance. Never teachable, never taking to corrections, never ready to learn the right thing, just a set of arrogant, ignorant wacks who want their country look like America overnight. Corruption is just a part of the problem, cluelessness is another epidemic, eating up this great nation. A lot of things call for concern. Happy 60th independence day. Are you one of the wacks? |

[sup][/sup][sub][/sub]
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF LIVING IN LAGOS
ADVANTAGES Lagos has a huge Market for your Products and Services. Infact someone said that if you package a refuse bin and sell it in Oshodi, you will sell off everything in a matter of hours , if not minutes. That is to tell you that there is a market for any kind of products and services you offer.
Lagos has the best nightLife: If you are the type that never sleeps, you love clubbing and flexing then Lagos is your home because as the "City that never sleeps and the headquarter of Entertainment in Nigeria, Lagos is a City filled with fund, coastal Tourism activities, Clubbing, patties and all Kinds of Events.
Lagos Supports and Nurtures Small and Medium Scale Business: Lagos helps you to nurture your Small scale Business. The City has all it takes for an Entrepreneur to succeed, from vibrant Startup EcoSystem, access to finance, grants and high profile events to different Networking events, master classes and exhibitions to mention but a few.
Lagos has many Job Opportunities: Although Lagos is no longer Like before in terms of Job Opportunities, when compared with other states, Lagos is still ahead.
There are many Business Opportunities in Lagos: Your One week Stay in Lagos will bring thousands of business ideas rummaging your brain. The City is full of business Ideas.
Lagos is a City of the Hustlers: If you are born a hustler, there is a high tendency for you to survive in Lagos. If you are hardworking, Lagos is the best place to be.
DISADVANTAGES OF LAGOS
Cost of Transport is on the High Side: In Lagos, if you are not careful you may end up working and have transportation gulp up your earnings. Just yesterday I spent around 2500 naira just to convey myself from Ikeja to Lekki Phase 1. Just imagine someone spending such an amount of money everyday to convey his or herself to Lekki everyday. By the end of the Month he will be spending close to 70K only on Transport. Now you understand while people are working in Lagos, yet they have nothing to show for it.
LAGOS TRAFFIC IS A NIGHTMARE: Lagos is a City where you can stay in the Traffic for many hours. Have you heard the Story of Funke who went to drop her Aunty who is based in London at the Airport. While Funke was still in traffic, her Aunty called her that she had successfully arrived at London. That is a tip of an iceberg on how horrendous Lagos Traffic is. When I first Entered Lagos, I was to attend an Interview at VI, then I was residing in Ojo. Since I was ignorant of Lagos traffic, I woke up around 6 O'clock to prepare just like every other person's living in other cities will do. But did you know that singular act cost me that Job which I was pretty sure of being selected for because I arrived at the interview venue by 12 pm.
House Rent in Lagos is on the High Side: Unlike other Cities in Nigeria, Lagos is the only City where you will pay for agent and agreement as equal or sometimes higher than your House rent. Still don't know why the state Government is not rising up to criminalise such evil perpetrated by Landlords and agents. You will hear them saying 50, 50 for a self Contained apartment of 120,000. Another thing is that finding a decent house might be a little challenging to you unless you have enough bucks or are ready to live in the satellite towns which will be far from the City center. Another thing is may God help you not to enter the wrong house which Lagos is mostly Characterised with.
There is No fresh Air in Lagos: With a population of about 30 Million people crowded in the smallest state in Nigeria by Land mass. It will be a miracle for you to have fresh air. If you need fresh air in Lagos maybe you might just relocate to Ikorodu or Epe part of Lagos which is currently being hit by high waves of urbanisation.
Lagos is a Dirty City: Although the present Government is trying all it can to keep the City clean but that does not take away the fact that Lagos is one of the dirtiest Cities in Nigeria.
There is too much Noise in Lagos: Yes there is too much Noise in the City. From the Danfo drivers and conductors who rant like a Sallah ram, to Agberos who are vociferously constituting nuisance with their cracked voice, indeed Lagos is very noisy except you live in quiet Estates in luxurious neighbourhoods.
Connecting with the Rich in Lagos is a little bit hard: Unlike in Abuja and other Cities in Nigeria where you can always run into an influential person and you connect with them and possibly exchange contact. That will only happen in Lagos by Devine connection from above. Everybody in the City is very careful because of "Onye ma Onye" (who knows who).
FINALLY Before you make that move to either relocate to Lagos or to relocate out of Lagos. Just sit down with one bottle of cold Trophy and a plate of Isiewu or Delicious Nkwobi and ask yourself some mind boggling questions that will enable you to make a good decision you will never regret.
Written By Emmanuel A Real Estate Consultant based in Lagos Nigeria.

Hightser: Hello guys, so I'm skeptical about this decision I'm about to take, my girlfriend will be joining the next batch of NYSC and I have been thinking of telling her to work it to Lagos.
Truth is, she learned fashion design sometime and she likes modelling for clothing brands and she teaches too, I believe with all of this she stands a chance of getting something tangible in Lagos than going to serve in one village.
My fear is this, (I recently got an accommodation, a single room self contain on the island, haven't even told her yet) So I need time to plan my future, I'm not fit financially to start fending for someone, if I am then my younger sister should be the one to come over ( though her service year is next year)
But if my gf is to come here, the agreement will be clear and concise, you fend for yourself while I fend for myself, don't worry, the relationship is that defined and she understands.
My reason of wanting to do this for her is cause she has been very nice to me and she has helped me out financially and otherwise in the past though I repaid her.
But guys, my major fear is living with a girl in the same house, won't attachment get serious, what if she gets pregnant? I don't want anything to hinder my plans, I'm 29 actually and I'm not planning to settle down anytime soon.
Please I need advice and contributions. But why are u thinking of living with a girl that you have not married in the first place? Immorality everywhere. smh |

Femsyn: To buttress the OP's views...
I read this story and i laughed... i laughed hard because marriage is complex and is often more that what meets the eye.
Do you know the couple's story? They alone, know why they act in the manner they do. Look! how a woman or wife react in marriage is borne more of the input of the husband. What you see is what you get.
Let me ask you a question? Do you think the woman would've reacted the same way, if the man is often of the habit of squandering family cash on irrelevant things, stays away from the house with girlfriends, ignores the wife, does not carry the wife along in major decisions and does not take care of the home?
Young men, don't read hastily. The man the OP depicted up there is a responsible man. Most women align with their husbands easily, when the man is doing the needful.
The man has done enough for the reward you saw for few moments. Men, that reward doesn't come automatically. You work for it!!!
My response is not for the OP, because s/he has done justice with the points given thereafter. My response is for men who might read hastily, and assume the wife's behaviour is follow-come. You are wise |
