The truth is Lenovo do select battery,if you're getting the replacement make sure it is the original one,those replacement don't usually work for all that's why most sellers prefer to sell the follow come.

Try from another seller and make sure it is the original one.

Fault: Dim display.

This Lenovo T490 was brought in for dim display fault, the lvds 19v fuse was short, just remove and put a jumper and display is back to normal.

This is one of the reasons I like Lenovo boards, unlike some other brands, there's no fuse break the circuit in case of over current, which will help protect the screen.

I worked on an ACER mobo, there's no fuse to break the over current on the lvds section from getting to the screen, even though the fuse on the screen was short,it ended up damaging the screen back light.
Trying to work another backlight by using another screen panel is another work on it own entirely.

The thing,if there's a fuse on the board to do this job,it will protect the screen or signal cable from getting damage.

Fixing everything will cost between #30k-#35k (fan,screen, battery, keyboard) .
Getting that kind of laptop will cost between #70-#75k

Fault : power on via adapter only.

First thing first,i check both CLR impedance and noticed the battery CLR was short to ground, meaning the battery section is faulty.

I check the impedance of the discharging MOSFET and noticed it was short,I replaced with another N-channel MOSFET and short was cleared.
Connect the battery and power it on,and it works fine.

Fault: power on no display.

This is a funny case,the engr said it was working fine after taking it to the owner only for him to be called back.

I connect the charge and power it on, standby IC is fine, 1.3v RAM coil is also fine,no 1.8v and vcore volt on the coils.

The fact that 1.3v RAM coil is generating shows SLP_S4# is generating and there's a 80% chance that SLP_S3# will generate.
I was only assuming base on experience,cos there are situations where only one of the signals will generate.
Now when PCH generates SLP_S3# and SLP_S4# to the sio chip,the sio release susp#, sus_on, vr_on,main_on,run_on etc depending on the architecture.
This voltage will send enable voltage to 1.8v ic,1.05v ,vrm section,DC/DC section etc.

I reflow the sio chip before taking the next step , sometimes dry joint and can cause issues like this.
I connect the charger and power it on and all voltage were available, test with the screen and display comes.

Took me less than 10mins

Fault : Dead
This laptop was brought in for repair,the DC Jack glow when charger is connected but it doesn't power on when the power button is pressed.

I took out the board, check the CLR and all coils impedance,they were fine.
I trigger the switch via tweezers and mobo powers on, from there i noticed the power switch could be faulty.
The power switch is connected to the extended USB port and from experience , sometimes fault always come from that section.
I check the impedance of the transistor,diode and two non-polarise caps on the power button and noticed one of the capacitor was short to ground.
I removed it and connect it back, power it and and mobo works fine.

pls I need an idea to connect my DVR to my phone to watch my cameras while not at home.

You need a router, you can get the MTN 4g router, download the DVR brand app on your phone.

Make sure you know the DVR password , you will input it in the app while registering it.

Connect the router to the back of the DVR via the rj45 port ,make sure there is internet connection on your router and you're good to go.

For about 3weeks now, my laptop was showing “cooling fan not working”. After few days, about 5 lines started showing on the screen. Today while working, the laptop screen suddenly turned white with some lines. What do I do please?

Your laptop cooling fan is bad, your laptop screen is bad, and your laptop is bad too.

Even if receipt receipt is missing the store you bought it from normally have dublicate.

Let's assume you bought the laptop 2 years ago and you lost the receipt,the store will keep the duplicate for you for 2 years,since you have the receipt number off hand and you're their store keeper that handles all their book keeping.

they stopped me was at night around 11pm and demanded for receipt of my laptop. i followed them to station, called my brother to go bring receipt from my house. I was out within 30mins.
