U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Bureau of Consular Affairs

Nigeria

October 13, 2011

The U.S. Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to Nigeria, and continues to recommend U.S. citizens avoid all but essential travel to the Niger Delta states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers; the Southeastern states of Abia, Edo, Imo; the city of Jos in Plateau State, Bauchi and Borno States in the northeast; and the Gulf of Guinea because of the risks of kidnapping, robbery, and other armed attacks in these areas. Violent crime committed by individuals and gangs, as well as by persons wearing police and military uniforms, remains a problem throughout the country. This notice replaces the Travel Warning for Nigeria dated October 19, 2010, to update information on recent violent activity and crime in Nigeria.
I will gladly embrace Abeokuta,Ibadan,Osogbo,Akure and my Ado over all these crisis ridden, criminally notorious states  who alwys make the list of no-go areas in Nigeria whenever foreign Governments warn their Citizen.
We know these states but  the shocking part is that people from these places are very active here.

Please check the last travel warning to nigeria from any western country and the aforementioned relatively peaceful towns are likely to be conspicuously missing.

alhj- harem = debating computer program/software and its job is just to illogically carry any marked thread to page 10 using arguments/points undecided that would make you snack on your keyboard in anger  angry.

PoliticsRe: Why Is Jonathan Receiving More Insults Than Yar'adua And Obasanjo Combined Together? by Ufeolorun(m): 5:50pm On Nov 10, 2011
Beaf:
Do you call the amnesty a success or a capitulation after the economy had been brought to its knees? Lets not turn logic on its head.
The Nigerian army would have gone in to level the community harboring those baby oil bunkerers, just as the Nigerian army can successfully tame boko haram if the political support is there. so all these glorification of baby hit and run criminals need to be done with common sense, the only reason they took the amnesty is cos your baby bunkerers knew what will come next if they refuse to (hence successful).

tpia@:
which puzzle? huh

is it easier to believe the binicentric version of yoruba history? huh

objective analysis will either confirm or deny majority of the claims.

in addition, google is meant to investigate what people already know of their traditions and history, not that it should be used to build an entirely fabricated version of events.
Spanner in the puzzle?
What I meant is  that the link could possibly be found in places like Akure, ekiti, ijesha, owo and ondo(if egos and embellishment won't allow either ife or benin line) but cos these places too have vehemently disagreed with any story connecting(except Owo but on equals basis) them to benin especially on a master servant relation basis as some Benin historians do.the Ondos especially would have none of it.
CultureRe: BBC's Documentary On The 'Bronze Cast Head Of The Ife King' by Ufeolorun(m): 8:35pm On Nov 09, 2011
Maybe the ethnic divide was not that prevalent then and  people were just moving about, and knowingly or unknowingly contributing their quota to what we now know as culture.
We are different people but the difference get blurrier as you move eastward.Ondo town people will tell you their monarchical lineage is from the alaafin and this put another spanner into the puzzle though looking at their facial/tribal marks it becomes plausible.

Gbawe:
No. you are too sensitive. Most contributors on Nairaland are diasporans. That in itself is not a bad thing . What I resent is the advocation of measures that will bring untold misery to ordinary Nigerians that most who are vocal here will be totally insulated from and would automatically escape. We can gain our Country back ,if we really want it, without armed conflict. We are simply not united enough to handle the fallout from sectarian violence. Even if we hate each other beyond redemption then we are still better off acting together to secure what we all want than butchering ourselves when the balkanised nations that arises may still be led by the despots who created the Nigeria we all wanted to get away from. If we split violently, there is a good chance that the 'fittest' (IBB, OBJ et al) would survive and be in charge. We would all then be back to square one. If there is to be any revolution at all, then let it be , 100%, a people's revolution that would see every region led by the best they have available otherwise anything else is a waste of lives, resources and time.

PoliticsRe: How Prepare Is Southwest ? by Ufeolorun(m): 10:27pm On Nov 06, 2011
Valid question,op's ethnicity is very irrelevant here.I have a very strong feeling that the people at Aso rock really want to shunt this country bt they need to be assured that their so called Oil defined territory  would be another front for  intra clan mindless massacres,I really pity those who think they are ready but by all definitions and parameters are not.
Its not about boko haram really its basically greed by persons who have not been able to manage nascent  opportunity at their disposal.
The way they have taken this Boko haram stuff is like they have seen perfect excuse, so allow them over play their hands so we can cash in.
Koda!

Militarily. We maynot be ready but I don't think any other Nigerian group have what it takes to hit the ground running like we do when it comes to nationhood,I vote for functional Nigeria

I think  ACN. showing a strong resurgence in Ondo  maybe due to the fact that the Governor hasn't performed to peoples expectations,in politics some defectors matter even if they are just Jeun jeun politicians but overall the people should be able to decide and I see another Ekiti-rerun kind of election in Ondo.
It will be difficult to rig.
May the people win!

Definitely going North cos Mr luck will not get a second term, the ACN guys in the west will be his biggest undoing.

BetaThings:
Do you want to rule this country or do you want to break it up?
GEJ got 26%(45%)  of the votes cast in Katsina (Kaduna) at the last election
But Beaf and Co have been saying the North should forget the presidency for ever
Why should the North support people who would stab them in the back?

BTW, I know that SW and SE do not vote together
And as for people talking about true federalism
The South introduced unitary government and we have not got over it
The South also introduced  the first attempt at ethnic cleasing
Sometimes I ask my self why those twittering northerners do not come here,to give some of this blabbing kindergartens lesson on  politic.
The man that's virtually left this country on auto-pilot is def. A hat wearing 'Northerner'.
I would take Yara dua over Jonathan any day, even with his terminal illness he was  still able to make  coherent, logical policy statement and even did sensible interviews.
Too many rich generals, corporate shills hence you will have to be really prepared to break up this country.

Maybe specifically apt but bros its just too common on this platform to see people spend all their paid working hours fuming at remotely related issue then go quiet when its time for them to really plunge in the knife. You still see people steaming with Northern this or that even as  we  have a southern neophyte and a super-clanish inner circle  running/ruining  things, how do we explain this.
PoliticsRe: Deltans In Crushing Grip by Ufeolorun(m): 5:53pm On Nov 03, 2011

True talk. In fact, mention Aregbesola and this thread goes platinum.
grin Aregbesola na unbridled person and will alwys get atttention. I actual love his style  cheesy What  shocks me on this platform is the way people put in so much effort in debating issues prolly outside of their sphere of influence and go numb or tactless when it comes to issue affecting their local community or area. It's good to criticise really but why go blank when you are suppose to be passionate.
PoliticsRe: Deltans In Crushing Grip by Ufeolorun(m): 5:12pm On Nov 03, 2011
OP,
You are your own, this post would never get the attention it deserves, inject Lagos or Osun,Ekiti or just slap Acn somewhere in-between and you will see debates, anyway it is up to the people there to change things.

PoliticsRe: The Most Backward State In Nigeria? by Ufeolorun(m): 4:21pm On Oct 31, 2011
So you have to come up with  this flipping thread simply cos most of you have been massively shellacked by the intellectual power of some Ekiti people on nl,or their never say die attitude.

People from states that are being run ( govs) by louts, retired kidnap kingpin, failed traders, oil bunkerers, chronic womanisers, arrangee degree holders are here chatting nonsense.Ekiti state is competing ( the figures are out there on literacy, hiv, gdp, crime rate) very well with states created ages ago and doing far better than states created at the same time.

Idle squarepants! grin grin

looking at our capabilities,i have to admit  that we are not doing enough. : smiley

PoliticsRe: Gov Aregbesola Snubs Sambo In Osogbo by Ufeolorun(m): 2:17pm On Oct 30, 2011
ITs the lack of political wit  and upbringing that would make a minority president surround himself with very clannish and politically naïve advisers and helps.
You stay here doing all sort of childish stuffs.
IF you think you can go on messing about cos Obasanjo and some thieving Generals made your brother president  ,you will understand when the time comes that you are still a minority in all ramifications.
You r  either writing mindless stuff about Northerners or  slicing and dicing them into middle_belt and core north to suit you.
The section of the south that isn't buying into your silly idea of southern unity has also been the target of your numerous ids.
If you n your oil hugging friends  think you will destroy the country cos of some crude sipping of the ground naturally without your input then you will realise that all of you are clearly outnumbered. If we are going to break up this  country it must be done with respect for all sections of the country.
We are waiting for what the minority neophytes now in Aso rock would do to Osun.
PoliticsRe: Ibadan: Child Of Two Worlds : From The Perspective Of A Corps Member by Ufeolorun(m): 5:35am On Oct 30, 2011
^^
Your  thread is actually a very good one irrespective of your intention,it's irrelevant to me,really.
American conservatives always talk about Reagan and I think the progressives mouth Fdr. Or pres. Kennedy.
We also have the Chinese talk of Mao,why you got issues about Awo being a reference point even when Ibadan is the topic is not beyond me.
PoliticsRe: Ibadan: Child Of Two Worlds : From The Perspective Of A Corps Member by Ufeolorun(m): 2:41am On Oct 30, 2011
Apt!
The Gov. has not shown any  sign that he's a transformer despite being a breathe of fresh air from Lam to Oyato!. Oyo needs total overhaul of its political system cos I believe it's the main problem.
Ibadan is waiting for the spirits of its ancestors who built it and an Awoist touch to re energize it.
Rent seeking and  crude oil no good no good!
