Exactly, they are the only influential people on twitter at least they make loads of sense.Eggheader has been the most useful for me,especially on news from Ekiti.

The TV ( musicians, hosts, artists) guys there hardly make sense, have unfollowed probably all of  them (except 1 or 2) cos all they end up doing is clogging my scroll with silly and sometimes annoying twits.
dem no beg me to follow them after all, been there before most of them anyways,  Adegun Adeogun! grin

Physicsqed,
There was this Benin video I stumbled on youtube. The video depicted a fight between the Olowo and a  benin warrior,It was comical cos I was just laughing at the way the Olowo was depicted as a 'typical Yoruba',all mouth and no action squarepant.Well the olowo's head according to the film was taken to the Oba sha,am not using this as an authoritative benin take on Benin/Owo relationship(for eg.) but you can't discount stuff like this cos they act out most times oral tradition, innit?I wish I could recollect the title of the film cos its fully acted in Edo language but the edo guy who acted as the Olowo spoke mangled Yoruba sha.loooooool! @ the video again. It was really funny.

I use to frequent(like 3yrs ago) Dawodu.com and I have to say this, some well written books/ journals are better than published books, I drew some of my conclusion about Benin historians on the website and other link it gave.

My point is if the issue who was/is the boss is relegated then maybe true history would be revealed.

NB. am no historian, just a culturally inclined okpe, lol!

A reflection of how small minded these people are.
A govt. Agency fully subsidised by public funds, gets extra money from selling air time to customers and then you come in  cos of some silly political games to stop it.Tell us more about your subsidy is killing us story!
Aregbe should get over the facts that Jonathan is unfit for purpose and his band of anchovies are recklessly unaware .People of Osun will grade you in 2 years time, you need to concentrate on your job, seriously.
CultureRe: Tribal Culture Will Die by Ufeolorun(m): 8:50am On Nov 26, 2011
Europe has gone past that
primitive stage of development, hence
the non reference to themselves as
TRIBESMEN. The Africans ironically, are
yet to emancipate their mind. They are
yet to enter a new epoch of rennaisance.
.

There are tribes in Africa and their ethnic groups,You can not refer to Yoruba as a tribe for example. Sometimes the word TRIBE is used loosely basically for demarcation and  does not necessarily mean being primitive.
I don't think racist Europe has an emancipated mind what you basically see is emancipation aided by profiteering and economics remove that and you will  see the German/English man telling the polish to leave cos they are taking 'our' jobs away( so much for European emancipation).
I think you are so giddy about your German/european connection that you made your username reflect it, it must be a huge achievement for you but you don't need to be condescending.
CultureRe: Tribal Culture Will Die by Ufeolorun(m): 12:05am On Nov 25, 2011
BlackLibya:
It makes sense. Nigeria needs to evolve into a tribal based confederacy. The Europeans might call it a devolution, but Africans evolved into these political systems for a reason. They do not live in homogenous societies like Europe, and Africa does not want to see the genocides Europe saw in the dark ages, colonial period, and even modern times.

A simple look at Libya which has had some few hundred years of Arab colonization and we can see that even once many of the cultural/language barriers between tribes are broken down, the political entity of the tribe itself does not allow for the smooth functioning of a centralized state.

The impediment of the tribe remains the same, so would people rather lose the culture and possibly but less likely the language of their tribe. Or would they rather keep everything? Either way the "tribal problem" never ends. In Europe it even exists, they just managed to give each tribe its own country or autonomous regions within countries like Spain. This is 1000 years after Roman culture broke down almost all tribal differences.
Tribal confederacy?nice one.
I sometimes fiddle with same idea like I said earlier people who have shown strong committment to society in the past have always been people with strong cultural identity(Awolowo,Ajasin, adesanya,Ahmadu bello,Saro wiwa) compared to these sexually disturbed, money grabbing louts parading themselves as leaders today.
They have no identity no pride hence they easily are convinced to mess about with serious issues .Religion( am a Christian) has also made people to be out of touch with the society they live in(Nigeria),there are people who are more loyal to Jerusalem/Isreal or Arabia/ Mecca than to the society they live in.
This is one of the reasons I think a state like China will continue to censor whatever comes in as they march into the future made possible through internal strength and cohesion.
wink

BlackLibya:
Because I associate a strong identification with culture to a weak affinity for corruption. People who truly care about the place and people they come from, and who have been raised with traditional moral values cannot take bribes at the expense of their own people.

You love your mother, but assume she is fixed inside her house and plot of land and can never leave. Would you accept $1 million to let someone drill for oil in her vicinity if you knew it would pollute the water she drank? Could you do this if the entire neighborhood was Yoruba even if your mom was not in it? If you knew it would pollute their water and give cancer?
You definitely making sense here.

This is (quote in bold) what we refer to in modern term as  patriotism and I  think the more passionate (connected) you are about the society you live in, the less room you have for detrimental actions whether  from within or outside. We have had people in the past with a very strong ethnic/tribal inclination and they were very effective politically but they end up being labelled/called bigots and tribalists by some people, they also became targets for all sorts of stuffs.

Nigeria has a dysfunctional federal system where someone who has never visited or does not even care about a state is given power to decide what happens in such state and you know what that means.

I think the biggest mistake the acn made was letting of guard for the pdp, Buhari was just the best option for the party but look at what we are left with, an utterly clueless president with politically naive nannies. Angry

You have spoken very well, but Tinubu and co will not let Buhari become our president because he will be an obstacle to them.As a matter of fact Tinubu prefer the way Jonathan is ruling the country. If tinubu and co come out and saying all sought of rubbish about jonathan is just formality
He was just the only sane option for Nigeria (buhari). We have a party that has saddled this country with mindless disrespect for common sense politics and we had a chance to actually squeeze life out of it or put it on llife support.
I was disappointed in Acn.  to be honest though a buoyant Cpc may not be in the interest of Acn or let me say in the interest of Tinubu .(Tunde Bakare as VP of Nigeria will bury Bola Tinubu politically in the southwest, fact!).
PoliticsRe: Northern Acn Moves To Split Party by Ufeolorun(m): 6:35pm On Nov 22, 2011
The ACN  has got chance to survive the Pdp cos they have base and that's what politics is all about,I don't know pdp's base. They need to Perform, the AD didn't perform to expectation and that's  why 'igboro didnt daru' when Obasanjo rigged them out. We saw what happened in Ekiti during the rerun, they(pdp) were matched gun for gun, thugs for thugs, with 10000 police the Rec still ran away.Acn should consolidate in the west and see others crawl to invite them to help them out. all this bigotry noise is just flipping soggybeans  and does not really get to me sha, those who are quick at shouting /mention bigotry tend to be closet bigot who either met their match or feel outsmarted(complex).
Right now acn will go into any election with potentially 7 states in the kitty.Sw+kwara will fall in any free election, now that's a political party.

I think the biggest mistake the acn made was letting of guard for the pdp, Buhari was just the best option for the party but look at what we are left with, an utterly clueless president with politically naive nannies. angry

Until he gets the fact that pdp is actually a minority in National assembly the better for him(ACN.+Cpc+radical member of pdp/mostly northern member=majority). The presence of a strong opposition in that house has emboldened a lot of pdp guys who should normal be afraid to disagree with the pdp's postion.
The muttering of a vote of no confidence by the pdp controlled senate should normally be a wake call to Jonathan's Nannies but they won't wake up cos they are equally clueless.

Nigeria will crash? Our 'president' is chatting soggy, man!

PoliticsRe: Southwest’s Commitment To Regional Integration - Tinubu by Ufeolorun(m): 5:16pm On Nov 14, 2011
Look beyond Tinubu's politics and shenanigans, he is making a lot of sense though the statement is becoming cliched, they need to put action to the words. You don't have to collapse the current structure,a cooperating framework could be woven around it just to assure those who may  have the fear of losing political power.   BUT

To really make things work the current system (massive admin. cost  from duplication of offices)has to go to really to see quick financial benefit of integration.Let the states remain but scrap the governors office and make the speaker of the house the highest political office holder in each states, one of them  should on rotational basis act  as governor for the whole states though decisions will be taken in-council.Put the obas, baales in charge of local administration so all elected councilors, chairman wont be able to take any decision without their consent. It should at least put these local politicians in check and the obas integrity on the line. My postulation cool cool grin grin

Ethnicity huh huh huh as long as the integration works I DON'T CARE,REALLY.

Ado Ekiti, certainly not the worst state in Nigeria, whatever criteria you may want to adopt. What you called poverty is nothing but quaintness in simplicity. Most towns and cities in West Africa sub-region and even a place like Akwa-Ibom have this quaint simplicity.Mind you,Ekiti-State has the highest life expectancy rate in Nigeria. Can you beat that ?
Well Nigeria as a whole needs help and certainly Ekiti isn't where it should be but I find it very insulting  when people from disorganised and highly criminal community come online to show their lack of introspection.
Not only on life expectancy,on other  key index, we are robbing shoulders with or even doing better than states  created way before 1996 ,some with huge fed. Allocation talk less of states created at the same time.
Quite simplistic assessment of what development entails.
