PoliticsRe: Nigeria History Makers In Pictures by Ufeolorun(m): 10:23pm On Apr 12, 2013
Quaritch: On February 18, 1977 numerous soldiers mainly from the Abalti Barracks including the Police stormed the residence of late Fela Anikulapo Kuti. They were on a mission to arrest Fela and members of his Young pioneers found at the residence for an earlier infraction of impeding an officer in his lawful exercise of traffic control.

It was reported that Fela refused to be arrested and barricaded himself behind the locked gate. The fence was also electrified to discourage entry. Having gotten NEPA to cut electricity supply to the house, the occupants re-electrified the fence through the generator. The soldiers as a result blew up the generator with explosives and laid seige to the building, its occupants and property.
Mrs Olufunmilayo Ransome Kuti, a doyen of women's rights and education was thrown from the one story building and later died from the injuries sustained as a result.
Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti, Fela and other occupants were subjected to physical trauma and later arrested. The building itself was set on fire resulting in loss of property including unfinished and unreleased works of Fela.

The resultant inquiries and lawsuits which followed spurned the popular culture and notoriety of soldier-civilian relationships in Nigeria from the Song "Coffin for a Head of State", the Supreme Courts assertion that the crime was done by an "Unknown Soldier". It also made the late Mrs Ransome Kuti one of the martyr of the struggle which is the nation of Nigeria.
Years later President Olusegun Obasanjo was compelled by recent circumstances to constitute the Oputa panel when he became civilian President and was summoned to appear to give evidence in a petition brought by Beko through his lawyer, Femi falana. The exchanges are intriguing and compelling for students of history.

Legit1: Gbemi of beat fm also bears that surname "olateru olagbegi" and also has the same eye ball as the Oba.

Guess she is a family of theirs undecided
If she's got that surname combination, she's likely to be from Owo royal family,90% likelihood.

PoliticsRe: Faseun Paid To Cause Mayhem & Destabilise South West - ACN by Ufeolorun(m): 11:43am On Apr 08, 2013
DJTee: So you have appropriated the right to preserve Awo's memory to only ACN abihuh That's why they keep pooling the wool over your eyes. ACN has gotten away with murder as far as Lagos State's finances are concerend over the past decade just by dropping the name AWO. While I respect AWO's service to Nigeria and particularly the SW, I still believe he missed a GOLDEN opportunity to really salvage Nigeria when he aligned with Gowon upon his release from jail by Ojukwu. And I also believe the SW will continue to pay for that golden miss through complex political manoeuvres such as this for many years yet . . .
I agree ,ACn loves name dropping and they've also been incremental about the progress they often talk about but Abuja scares me,seriously.I am against any machinations giving Jonathan relevance in my neck of the woods. What currently comes out of far away Abuja should remain far away.
PoliticsRe: Faseun Paid To Cause Mayhem & Destabilise South West - ACN by Ufeolorun(m): 11:40pm On Apr 07, 2013
Free money, man, for Faseun.OPC structure is moribund and has become irrelevant, the NURTW has been a better alternative for SW politicians, they are well organised and well funded:ask Mc Oluomo.
If Faseun revives UPN because of Jona he would be tarnishing the revered memory of Awolowo ,and this should be enough reason for the houses of Asembly all over the SW to move and pass a motion declaring him ; security threat to the various Odua states , another "wetie e" instigator and a traitor to the Yoruba course. The bottom line is; he should be chased to Abuja or bayelsa.
A shockingly inept admin.is bad for the SW and Nigeria as a whole, we should not,I mean never allow extension of the life of the current admin by one week. Oloun ngbo!
ACN has basically been tinkering with the edges of progress in the various states(not much to celebrate) but Abuja stinks of utter ineptitude.

PoliticsRe: Third APC Group Emerges by Ufeolorun(m): 5:28am On Mar 15, 2013
Why is pdp spending so much effort and money dragging a name that has yet to sink-in with Nigerians, the real threat to pdp and strength of the new party are the 10 governors who have signed up,Tinubu/buhari and the disarray within the pdp.this level of naivete na wa.
Anyway,I am very happy the same shocking incompetence we've seen in governance is playing itself out here.
If I were the merging parties I would secretly change the name but openly still continue to drag it,just to make sure they(Pdp) spend more: I would insist on seeing the presence of the party in the minimum required states and other stuffs that would require huge money and logistics.
Aready, Inec cannot come out of all this mess, clean,an indication that the alliance would need to build a robust mechanism to check mate this openly dishonest electoral body.

I think competence is key and If we have to talk about merit, maybe we should start with how this "toning",contact lens wearing minister got this job.
I am open to learning about her competence?

thelastPope: Yes we are! But it irks me when some of your Yoruba brothers try to betray and sabotage us. I hate talking about the tribal thing but it is just not cool when some of your people try to backstab us. I know it isn't all yorubas because I have many great Yoruba friends some of whom have different views from me but will stand with me when it comes down to north and south! The south needs to stand as one strong unit and free ourselves of this northern stanglehold once and for all.

I know we also have our own issues in the south but the northen stranglehold is the first step towards liberating ourselves for good

We have warned that stup1d Amaechi! He is on his own! The south south will not relinquish the presidential ticket for a VP ticket in 2015! If GEJ looses, it will be at the polls not because some stup1d northerner thinks it is their turn to rule! If APC wins at the polls, then fair game, but we will not succumb to any blackmail from Babangida Aliyu or anyone else! We are sick and tired of the Hausa/Fulani domination and neo-colonialism!
Some of you need to allow this silly talk,Yorubas do not owe you a darn thing, and nothing will make an average SW embrace the most incapacitated presidency in the history of Nigeria. This new cry about oil blocks is a freaking old news stirred up again to blackmail other parts of Nigeria into relinquishing their 2015 aspiration,it wont work.If you cannot point to what you have done with 13% derivation,NDDC/Niger-delta ministry and Amnesty fund no one should listen to any dishonest sectional plot again.
Why take oil blocks from thieves and end up handing it to other thieves who feel schemed out. Shior!

ODUA_NEGRO: i see. well thanks for the observation, i appreciate that.

have you been following the eze election and their drama lately? do you know why they are voting to elect a replacement?

i want you to be aware that while many events here in nl may appear disjointed on the surface, there is a more organized syndicate running the machinery behind it all.

i can give hausa slack, i can excuse a kanuri insult, i can overlook a tivi abuse, but there are two ethnic groups i watch with my 8 eyes, fulani and igbo.

fulani because they are wild and when they are out of the wilderness they are out of their element and unstable. igbo because their element is brash and disorganized and when they encounter orderliness they are out of their element at that point and unstable.

i dont slack off for unstable people!
grin grin
To be honest i have wondered about the bold as well but Okun ki horuru ki afa ruru ni and some of these guys are separatists so you can forgive their desperation. That election shenanigans is a freaking joke man grin,it should be happening on a community website not here but still eso eso

if i cook it up, yes, you can call it ethnic baiting but this is a true event. i dont know what you mean, please explain.
YOur grasp of history/culture is one thing i really appreciate and its the real reason i made my comments. We know these guys do not need any motivation to cook up the usual sappy arguments,i just feel your logical and coherent put downs are preferable to stuff like this(not necessarily this thread).I fully respect your right to decide how you go about your business here. Its more out of respect sha than anything else.

Billyonaire: The visit to Maiduguri, Yobe and 2 other states were already planned since last December, but the opposition had a wind of it and rushed there first so as to make the President's visit, which was under wraps seem reactionary. APC will do anything to confuse uninformed Nigerians but we should understand that today's APC are yesterday's men who only metamorphose for their selfish interests and not for the good of common Nigerians.

PoliticsRe: Sullivan Chime Discriminates Against Yoruba In Enugu by Ufeolorun(m): 2:55pm On Mar 02, 2013
Gbawe: Thank you. On every side, the most hateful and most divisive always win here. They are always the loudest here and consistently overshadowing the voices of unity and reason who happen to be in the minority by far. A sad microcosm of Nigeria somewhat whereby those most bereft of ideas and lacking the ability to unite our Nation for the better, and set inspirational examples, always find themselves in the most important/influential position they use to regress the lives of everyone.

The way I see it is that those obsessed with ethnic baiting here are simply not and can never be part of the solution. We have a modern world around us where liberal ideas are shaping societies for the better yet we fight like cavemen here daily. Tragic for Nigeria.
Abi,the unfortunate aspect of it ,is,it drives traffic. On almost all Nigerian E-media its always from one ethnic fight to another other,we know the biggest culprits and to answer them would take common sense and a direct put down of some of the soggy, circular ramblings we often hear not this childish tit for tat.I could be insular but that's no excuse for going round baiting those who seem ready to fight anyway.
