Okija_juju: And APC is our new Beginning I guess?!!Ethnic or tribal inclination isn't a bad thing if geared towards communal good and if it's not driven by hate for others. The singular reason for Pdp successes so far has been the lack of a robust mechanism to counter it and you would agree, this new guys have a chance;Never in our recent history have we had an opposition control 10 Nigerian states including the most important Nigerian state(Lagos) and a significant national assembly seats.secondly, we have the weakest and the most overly ambitious presidency in our history. If these guys are serious and if they show a bit of maturity pdp will either be mortally hit or scatter altogether. like i said earlier APc isnt our saviour, just a chance to try something else |
They are Most certainly not our saviour but Nigeria deserves another chance, a new beginning, and this regrouping of old, known politician under a different banner in a country where people especially politicians love instant gratification is commendable (they could have chosen to continue to share with pdp as usual). For those looking for saviours, stop dreaming, the Nigerian problem is so deep seated that the quickest chance of a turnaround is pray our politicians have a rethink or self destruct. If a Apc is the re-branding of Pdp,it makes sense.maybe getting rid of that name and the culture of recklessness it has come to represent would be a good start I don't expect transformation, small, incremental progress would do. |
Nuzo':It's not very difficult,Okorocha has more leverage than Ngige;Okorocha is a governor,he brings a whole state into the equation and he solidly represent a wing of the alliance,Apga. These go a freaking long way in any political permutations. |
Gbawe: Dude, sorry to say but have you been on Mars for the last 2 years? EL Rufai is finished as a politician !!! "Credible" is the last thing associated with him these days !! Try "Insanity", "insincerity", "immaturity", "extremist", "liar", "highly strung", "unstable", "divisive", needlessly pugnacious" etc. As things stand, El Rufai has damaged himself beyond repair. He has made himself very 'scary' , unappealing and off-putting.Lol. You definitely have issues to work out with Elrufai,Oloun. You don't like him at all, he's still better than all the Northern governors out their and would be a sane choice if Buhari or Ribadu's candidacy do not fly(as it appears right now ). All those words you used in describing Elrufai actually depicts a typical politician. |
Jarus: I'm personally not a big fan of el-Rufai. Somehow unprincipled and inconsistent IMO.Am not total sold on El rufai too but he is the only relatively credible Northerner i can really think of at the moment.Ribadu isnt a politician at all,he doesnt have the skills that was so glaring in the last election and remember Apc will be full of the usual Nigerian politician with past records so Buhari candidacy will make them squrmish like spongebob squarepant ![]() Whatever they choose to do,they have a real chance if they show serious political maturity. danjohn: Fayemi na paper weight. We need to stop settling for "noncontroversial mediocre candidates." That has been the history of Nigeria from Shagari, to Obj, to Yaradua, to Goodluck. Think about it for one second. Nigeria always elects "noncontroversial mediocre candidates" for President. Fayemi may be better than his PDP predecessors but he is not on Fashola's level. Fashola's record as governor is more impressive than Fayemi's and I will not vote for Fayemi simply because he is a Christian. In fact, I would prefer to be at home on facebook and nairaland than vote for Fayemi if Fashola is alive. Despite the perceived drawbacks of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, I would encourage the leaders of the new opposition party to conduct scientific polling to determine if it is a real problem or just an excuse by some politicians to deny Fashola the chance of being on the ticket. To be honest religion wasn't really a political issue, especially for most southerners but the emergence of Goodluck Jonathan has made it one and they are going to use CAN again for the same purpose unless true Christians stand up to save that body. Fashola would be the most ideal candidate if APC can convince the Northerners to drop their sense of entitlement to the 2015 top tickets.Secondly, build a robust response to expected use of religion as a wedge issue by pdp |
I think we actually have a chance to kick PDP out for good or at least mortally weaken it.The new merger is off with a good leverage;10 states governors and loads of national assembly seats.though acn guys have shown disappointing half hearted measures so far but with pdp in sight they are very manageable. I would suggest an Elrufai/Okorocha ticket. El rufai though very talkative and unstable has got strong sense of character and will be good enough as we desperately need a sense of direction. Okorocha is someone i don't really pay much attention to but joining the alliance upped my perception of him ,it reflects his maturity when others in his neck of the woods are virtually slobbering over pdp. One of the reasons why he would be good on the ticket is to make those from the East who just think they have a lot of unspent political capital in JOnathan have a rethink. The man has nothing to offer himself talk less of the East, under his watch the SE has been virtually cordoned by daring kidnappers. My combination wont happen because I strongly believe a South westerner will definitely be on the ticket to assure the Acn. wing of the alliance so i would go with a northern governor and Kayode Fayemi of a Ekiti state; He is the only Christian Governor in the acn core. A muslim/muslim ticket will be a tough sell(Buhari/fashola)right now |
I pray the merger works, with just a stroke of the pen and a mutual consensus a new party controls 10 states and numerous house and senate seats: Massive leverage, I hope they see this,we have never been this close to having a shot,an opportunity to start allover again albiet with manageable political insiders With a shockingly nutter party which has basically lost its very dubious direction, we actually have a chance to try another platform with Men who are not totally different but have shown needed foresight and maturity when it mattered PDPs response to the new party has been really mediocre:it reflects the party and its approach to governance anyway. |
Hmnn. train journey full of sappy tales ![]() I thought we've move past the Era of muddies with multiple Ids. |
I don't really know what apga brings to the table, seriously they are the weakest link in this arrangement and APC strategists need to factor this into their political permutations, going forward. I was wary of ANPP too but Shekarau would be a good tool, up north, if treated properly in the arrangement. And hopefully the ACN will stand up for what they believe in and not end up cutting a deal with PDP again,I still find it unbelievable PDP won Lagos in the last presidential election;they do not have the numbers nor the structure A Young northerner on top of the ticket and a candidate sellable in the South west and Edo state, manageable for the rest of the south should do the trick or atleast shake of pdps grip on the country. |
Nigeria has given a lot to Obasanjo but he failed Nigeria at a critical period, and the result is here. Obasanjo should always end his criticism of this most unfortunate era with a public apology. I have never been this hopeless for the future of this country, even the so called opposition have shown seriously little sign of being different Mind boggling madness. |
Another proof, conventional denominations and churches governed by rules ,matured independent MEN of God have been good for Christianity in the past and they also point to its proper future. One man riot churches have wreaked serious havoc on the credibility of Christianity. Give me that old time religion! Thank you Catholic church. |
It will be foolhardy for us to sit idly while fundamentalist build empire adjacent our problem areas,we are still trying to curb BH.Getting involved makes a lot of sense. All the best boys!!! ![]() |
Really! how do we get our hands on the technology? Wonderful ![]() |
This minister is the only believable person in the federal cabinet but this appear a bit boneheaded despite his relatively reasonable explanation . i cant wrap my thinking round it but a more sustainable frame work can be created, compared to handing phones to people there are better ways to block gaps and reduce duplications , fed government engaging in jobs of local authority isn't one of them. He can ask the local government to provide him avenue through which the ministry can reach local farmers or create a website or national phone lines with local languages options which farmers can use for validation;A call through this lines at first would be for registration and any subsequent calls to the lines would generate or give a special subsidy code to the farmer which will be used as a proof that the farmer is entitled to subsidized fertilizer.there would be limit to the amount of subsidy a farmer can have access to within specified period to reduce abuse. There should be random verification of claims of being a farmer as well. |
ba7man: Nigeria isn't working and Ghana still can't measure up economically with Lagos.....Now think if Nigeria gets her game together.A living Dog they say,is better than a dead Lion ![]() |
There's no need to cry, maybe we can learn one or two things from them,at least they learned from us how not to manage oil wealth and so far, they have done a good job.We can be 10 billion people but if we refuse to show capacity or display competence at using our numbers, then nothing for us. I don't know why some of us get so upset when anything good is mentioned about Ghana, its in our ultimate interest to have prospering neighbours. |
nagoma: Marriage is not important in the south where ssex is family business. Mothers , dauters and all participate , married or unmarried.is that an excuse for the deliberate mass curtailment of girl education in the north uplawal: This is what we muslims call enjoining good and forbidding evil, evils such as homosexualism, rape, illegitimate children, prostitution, masturbation etc and other psycological problems like depression, loneliness, mental disorder will not exist among them, thereby promoting better core family values, more increase in number of the population by offsprings such union produce, peace, and the sanity in their society, this is what Islam encourages. There's nothing more insane than the commodification of women which is relatively higher in the northern part of our country. The north is being decimated by in-house,sponsored miscreants who are likely the products of mass marriages like this one;Boko haram is sure producing peace and family values you are refering to.I shake my head ,if truly you are women ![]() |
Apparently Ohakim was a disaster which makes the current man a great relief but I would be surprised if he actually becomes a transformational governor.I have been following the governor for a long time even before he became the governor of Imo,he's a creation of those who just want a Fashola-esque character to brag about on Nairaland regardless of whatever. |
PointB: Jarus did a fairly good job for most part of his tenure. However, for the last three months or so, Jarus somehow (deliberately or naturally) lost the plot. You most times come across as a bloviator with no strong conviction whatsoever, ready to take any position just to have a long winded chat.It is shocking the admin. is pandering to the whims of people like you.Yes, people like you keep the forum going/active because of your love for soggy arguements |
It makes a lot of sense ojare and i am not surprised, like I said on the thread congratulating the new MOd.,when you give powers to people you should also trust their judgement, elevating one of those people who have turned NL into a joke, one of those who water down any thread as they deem fit, obviously mean you do not trust the judgement of the current moderators and you rate them in the same category with your new moderator. |
Seun: Yes, and also because he is a very passionate Nairaland member. He's either going to do a great job, or a terrible job, but he won't be mediocre. So to you this is the best way to stir this platform/section in the right, more constructive direction.it calls certain things into question which i wont mention in other not to bring up already buried wedge .Traffic is good,it means money but impact is long lasting:I use to lurk around the Dailykos when it first started out and I still can't believe the impact that site is having on American socio-politics at the moment. With due respect bro, when you give control/power to people you should trust their judgement |
van bonattel: Ekiti? just another shithole like Oshun.Nairaland is another shift hole becuase of people like you |
So$ething is happening looto but we can hardly feel it For some of us who obviously over estimated the governors committment I would say:Somethingni ushe kan se ,seriously ![]() |
I am very much interested in a responsive Ican, the development of the profession within the Nigerian context is strongly dependent on Ican trajectory and I pray they do more:work more on the huge credibility gap plaguing the system, make contributtions/Nigerian input to the standard making process rather than a wholesale lifting of the ifrs.A responsive Ican is good for us whether ACA or ACCA. |
Progressive politics has kept Lagos alive and there's a direct correlation between the retrogression of ibadan and its politics. Probably, when Lagos was out of reach for our fathers at the beginning because it was designated fed. capital, they sought to recreate it in Ibadan and they did to an extent:while there was no tv station in lagos, Ibadan already had one but when Eko fell back into our hands we left ibadan to ibadan people. Ibadan is a Western asset, the Western government invested a lot of money in there hence re-energising the city should be an SW agenda,it should not be left in the hands of the indigenes alone, just like Lagos isn't.The way an average SWner of today feel a sense of bond and ownership of lagos was the same way most of our parents felt about Ibadan. Lagos was frittering away but Tinubu, to his credit brought life back into it,we can do same for ibadan. i pray the present state government see this enormous asset. In fact, rebuilding Ibadan should be one of the core goal of the ACN .This should be the starting point for integration. |
Lasinoh: Abeg make we hia sointin. . . after exposing the chief culprits aka moderators and 'SUPA-SUPAS'. . .aka butt handles. . . ."joystics and honeypots" . . . with all kinds of IDs to open all kinds of theads,. . .it would be STOOPID to question why others do!Ehen! maami don come with a lot to say,Iya mi osoromoniga mo always juba o ![]() |
Mega city doesn't real mean a new city, its basically a fore cast driven adjustment of the state to expected population surge. I don't think mega city bla bla is the main idea behind building a new business distract called eko atlantic city. Lagos just wants its own Docklands, and that's not a bad idea at all but I don't suspect there's any business case or justification for the Abuja shenanigans and if there is I wouldn't care cos they hardly do anything right or make sense over their The plumbers, architects, bricklayers etc would argue otherwise about the impact on the common person |
Until governance in the exchange is cleaned up and strict rules are set up to fight against malpractices and insider dealing,no serious company would expose itself to the charade going on at the exchange. Listing makes a lot of sense because it is bound to increase FDI:I know a company like MTN would be a big target. By the way,Sanusi is full of hot air, sappy talk Oloun ngbo ![]() |
I missed this the last time.
