It seems the death of Olokola FTZ has been greatly exaggerated ,the politics of now and resource nationalism may not favour the location but if it's going house the first private Refinery in the country then the factor conditions are solid. The lesson here is, while the government is still very much powerful REAL corporate Nigeria is catching up fast and levelling up.We would begin to see business influencing politics rather than the usual, other way around so you would be required to make your business case because " na our oyel" isn't going to be adequate for long. |
Thunderbolt-Magun !!!! I loved it . Segun employed teh story line to pass a sensible message across, very impressive article. It's probably time for a calculated move back from the fringe ![]() |
Obiagu1: Imotionally attached? I hope you get kidnapped or tortured wherever you said you reside and have a little feel of it.A more rational approach would give these people a platform to enable them express themselves in clear, verifiable terms on what really happened but we have seen so far is "the Lagos we built cannot do that to our people no matter what" and this to me reflect a shocking sense of entitlement and ego tripping |
biafran soul: Where are the so called human rights activists, the civil liberty organisations, the Wole Soyinkas, Femi Falanas etc? This clearly shows that they are all hypocrites and political commentators who are just out looking for cheap publicity and what to eat. They will never show up cos they believe in substantive struggles, They can see that beneath the Blackmail and the fake outrage is a massive sense of entitlement to the state of Lagos. I can't believe people can be so Emotional attached ,flipping unbelievable!Kilode? |
Obioma future ![]() flipping hilarious |
Beautiful!!! I feel Cross river has not marketed itself well to Nigerians, you cannot ignore your immediate market for one elusive foreigner who's probably been drowned by news on BH,oil bunkering and kidnapping moreover, the international tourism market is too competitive and Nigeria lack the factor conditions to even be considered a destination. its time to 'kidnap' and bus-in the Nigerian middle class through discount and other offers, you cant allow this place go fallow; too much unused capacity. How about offering free flights on specific date(s) so people can at least be encouraged to go have a feel of the place or a kind of reality TV program showcasing all the resorts, what's on offer ,and maybe starred by Saka or anyone whos appealing to the middle class. Finally,Imoke should stop prancing around with inept 'Brother-governors' The perception of who's in charge matters. |
Odumakin has huge credibility among real progressives and when he talks people listen,he maybe disgruntled but for obvious and good reasons so it's better we address the issues he purportedly raised rather than prancing around trying to discredit him. Questioning Tinubu reflects what are our society is; vibrant and progressive, so those from the political back waters of Nigeria and the chaotic, new comers to national politics who see this as an opportunity to bash Tinubu and his people, you would be missing a valuable lessons on how a functional society operates. Please learn! |
It's always disappointing whenever people suggest Jonathan had some kind of 'initial sincerity' are we that blind and simple? from day one I knew this man had nothing to offer us and he is trouble waiting to happen however he has plunged deeper than I forecast,I have to admit. Introspective write up ,anyway. |
Obviously they provide jobs and convenience for people however, most chain retailers like Shoprite have a cost based strategy .This aggressive low cost trajectory force them to do things like packaging substandard products and selling them off with fanfare, paying low wages to barely trained workers just to keep a good margin. So when you pick things up there, read the labels and always ask question so you get ACTUAL value for your money not just convenience and remember we do not have a strong food and consumer regulatory framework like in more functional environment hence the tendency to cut corners is even greater. Killing small business within the Nigerian context may not be entirely possible considering: People with low purchasing power won't go near Shoprite and may just form part of the pilgrims whose footfalls do not translate to economic benefits People fascinated by the idea of shopping in a massive supermarket would retrace their steps when the fascination wears down and they realize the out of pocket effect People who are seriously concious of what they eat and are aware of the antics of big retailers These groups would still require the service of other sellers. |
andresia: And who is Tomakint? A flipping summary dismissal of the thread and its worn out topic moreover,You deserve a medal for community service because you might have just rescued sane members of this community from another fruitless ramblings |
ShyM-X:Its already taking shape. brof. Federal government world over have one thing in common and that's expensive non-value adding bureaucracies,a country like Nigeria led by petty, incapable central government cant be different but the story here isn't about what the federal government is doing or what gave Lagos its advantage.it's about a state consolidating its position and using the strategic advantage it has to buy what it hasn't;financial and political autonomy. |
It made Togo and the republic of Benin look like tiny local Governments about to be forceful collapsed/annexed by rampaging economic central governments in Lagos and Accra. Ibadan,a seriously underestimated economic hub is becoming a trend in most economic forecast and write up,i think the acn. needs to move its economic conclave to Ibadan as it needs same total economic re-engineering/overhaul going on in Lagos.Lagos-Ogun-Ibadan-Contonou-Lome-Accra-Abidjan;the future economic corridor of west Africa. ![]() |
Desola: Father, save me from developing a high blood pressure over this matter.Ye mii okun! relax!?No amount of long winded faffs and arguments can cover up this crass case of conflict of interest and nepotism. Even if this is a unanimous decision from the market people(which I don't believe) one thing is certain,an unacceptable trend is being established in Lagos state. I believe in the Yoruba commonwealth where free movement and full participation is the bedrock but we must not allow person/people move from one end to the other, become accepted, given power and then begin to show disregard for the feelings of the natives, the mere perception that Oba of Lagos is a lackey is sickening and act like this one reinforces that unacceptable feelings. Reminds me of Baba Wande in ti oluwa nile: Derisively saying there's no Orisa anywhere we are the Orisa so when u hear any strange voice we are the one shouting/talking ![]() The Oba is the unseen Orisa whose voice we are purportedly hearing here |
Desola: your mama ik were; your papa oshi mili. ![]() |
Akanbi_edu: You have not answered my question. The reason I asked was to ascertain you people knew what you were talking about but alas seems emotions have taken a better part of your reasoning. What is Iyaloja-general of Nigeria? What does it represent? You talked about democracy and I told you the position is not based on democracy, now you come with this. There's no need for the highlighted because what i said earlier (ajejapo saya) just encapsulated the whole situation :excessive greed,so don't take this discussion too personal.Your question has already been answered moreover democracy and franchise exist where people come together to make decision on an issue, within wider Yoruba context like i said earlier, who becomes Iyaloja is within the purview of market people and their representatives and that's democracy in its local form. Adedibus action were deplorable but his legitimacy in Ibadan was never in doubt, we cannot say the same here, this makes it more unbearable. If i were an indigene this is another overreach i wont be able to bear, and can we stop this 'because pdp is bad' talk,we all know pdp is a bottomless cesspit of the absurd this is no reason to continuously over look overreach and this glaring case of conflict of interest and nepotism. In substance she may be qualified for the post however, from the angle of what has become a trend in Lagos politics,it becomes unacceptable in a progressive society. |
Akanbi_edu: How were they disenfranchised? Please tell us. Do you know how the last Iyaloja-General was appointed? Do you know how the title was created? Do you know the relevance of the title? So how come this became disenfrachising issue? We may try create a distinct peculiarity around the post of iyaloja of Lagos for the sake of winning arguments but we all know within wider Yoruba context, the question of who becomes iyaloja is usually the prerogative of the market women so to me this is deprivation of right of these people to choose. Mogaji's(rip.) legitimacy was never in doubt, she derived her authority from the ground up and made the post formidable because she was vast and she connected so well with the people she led. aje japo saya ko suwon |
Absolutely indefensible action, you can not spin nepotism and greed out of this. Disenfranchising old, poor, market women and men is a serious sign of scary desperation and a shocking sense of entitlement from a so called 'champion of democracy'. i believe in free movement and full participation but trend/actions which look disrespectful to the REAL locals is really unacceptable kilode!? eyi suwon rara! Al-hasan: some serious joke spliced into a deplorable move |
Ngwakwe: The PDP Politicians and their scripts have been acted, played and made available for sale. The only "script" I see here is your infantile attempt at twisting the obvious,a sane interpretation of things would reflect loads of naive political-gatecrashers and a shockingly incapacitated 'leader' being checkmated so early in the game. These sad clowns are retracing their steps as it's becoming obvious the circus tent they refer to as a political party is about to crash down on them. |
Bawss1: A hilarious comment I saw on Joystiqvery creative @topic Getting fed up with these bloody shooting games taking over the gaming platform ojare, apart from God of war i have found many of them deplorable, really. ps4 must at least play recently released ps3 cds and must have loads of bloodless adventure games on it;ratchet and clank addict in the house ![]() |
This is one of the most interesting aspect of business but you made it so uninteresting with your descriptions. business analysis basically assess how a business could develop a sustainable competitive advantage, simple. The rational model and standard process goes like :Position analysis(value chain, the Ms model,SWOTs and TOWS,Resource based model:corporate knowledge and capability, corporate culture).Strategic choices/options(cost leadership, differentiator, focus differentiator )and implementation (this is where project management and change management come in) Fascinating reading Micheal porter and other business theorist. You need bit of accountancy and finance to be effective here. |

I may be wrong but i think anyone who tend to galvanise Yoruba is likely to be hated by some 'pro-Nigeria' peeps. Some feel there's a fine line between that and tribalism though, they have a misguided definition of what tribalism entails. lastly, history has shown when we rally round and support a single individual under a single platform, we (relatively) insulate our selves from some national problems and we make our politicians very powerful, recent issues have reinforced this thinking:I would have lost hope in Nigeria and my state if the current guys in Abuja/Aso rock have any political influence in my neck of the woods. |
dayokanu: Mimiko is an absolute disgraceHe only reinforced what has been said about him; a shockingly dishonest 'odale' individual..The same treatment was meted out to him by this same pdp and people came to his rescue ,now he's one of the arrow heads of another onslaught against a single individual, same tactics. I thought his opposition to acn is because he had better ideas and he wants to be his own man.no real man will queue behind a confused and incapable leader,I am ashamed of him. |
Eko Atlantic: And you believed that dude to be Yoruba?! LolYeah, I think it's quite easy to spot some of these jokers. They consistently: Rant about fulani none existent Oligarchy.(A pre-june 12 state of mind, likely to be exhibited by new comers to national politics) Prancing around threads with "believe me,I am Yoruba" badge Injecting Yoruba terms and words into sentences just to appear real. |
Billyonaire: The Bridge is beautiful and we should thank Fashola for putting on a thinking cap and making use of the "Federal Allocation" and "IGR" to build this bridge, but I totally disapprove the high cost of toll at that Bridge, the aim is defeated by such imposition because, it means, that only the rich like myself can afford to ply that bridge, while the poor people like Eko Ile can only trek across it. I also thank the Federal Government, for allowing Lagos State to build this bridge across her waters without litigation. Fashola should also channel his efforts to Ajegunle, Makoko and the rest of the slumps of Lagos, and alter the dirt constellating those axis of the poor and needy, so that the poor people can feel the presence of the Government. You are becoming a Nui...... around here mae.Stop prancing around aimlessly, squarepants ![]() |
TanimolaName matters, sometimes. Impressive |
raeez: ur english is below parI think his technical knowledge is more important here |
A perfect summary of the reason for such a bitter response from Abati; As a Party, we really sympathize with Abati for the dislocation in his career path and the utter misadventure the media aide appointment has turned out for him. The future, as a practicing Journalist, is bleak and the past cannot be recalled. He is stuck in the conundrum of a sinking regime. Unfortunately, his choice is to sink with itOJOMILOJU! |
If there's any organisation worthy of disbandment,it should this same underachieving, utterly disorganised, anything goes party. Always at the back foot of national development and political discussions Apga'always taking the easy way out 'should be their motto and fully stated on their mission statement if they have any. ![]() |
