PoliticsRe: Ethnicity And Graft Ruined Nigeria - Chinua Achebe by Ufeolorun(m): 5:01pm On Sep 15, 2011
nagoma:
I think Achebe is right to point this out. Afterall 75% of NL discussions are based on ethnicity - other trbes are bad mine is good , isn't it?
I would not use NL as  benchmark for a lot of things ( the career section is great though). The way people go about it,its like if tribalism go away then naija will become great. If we look properly rather this simplistic assessment of issues we will see that Ethnicity really is not the issue with Nigeria, its pure greed and a dysfunctional system that continues to fuel it.Flipping helllike! why should we have 35 governors, why?
cool

Honestly, the only Politician that can defect to PDP and comes as a surprise to me is Buhari.
For any other Nigerian politician, I will not be surprised at all.

ehie:
He said he despairs over Nigeria daily because of her missed opportunities and the fact that nobody has had the imagination to transcend all the ethnic pettiness and become a leader of modern Nigeria

THAT SUMS IT UP BRILLIANTLY
AMERICA IS FULL OF RACISM,IN WHAT  WAY HAS IT IMPACTED  ITS GROWTH AND ADVANCEMENT? SERIOUSLY, WE NEED TO STOP THIS TRIBALISM AND ETHNICITY EXCUSE.

Ethnicity is going no where ,let us look at ways to develop our dysfunctional system that is blatantly corrupt and unworkable. Why is Achebe (with due respect) so fixated with the issue of ethnicity?, he hardly says anything without mentioning it. cool

hahahà look at them barkin like dogs. Yeah the SE is clean. Thats why places like aba, onitsha are only befitting for pigs, lol. U can never find a place like that in the middle belt. And who said we will be like niger if not for the oil? Despite your claims of being stupendiosly educated u do not know that the middle belt can very much survive with or without oil (the middle belt is blessed with solid minerals and agriculture, enormously for that matter). talking about quota system? Go and look it up dude, the middle belt are not educationally disadvantaged. We've got brains that can hold their own anywhere, anyday. cool. For the record am not hausa and my people dont beg for alms.  tongue
while am not in anyway endorsing your point of view,i must admit, i admire the balance your presence brings, cool

CareerRe: How Much Should Entry Level Graduates Be Paid In Nigeria? by Ufeolorun(m): 10:45am On Sep 03, 2011
I feel some Nigerian employers use this term (unemployable) as an excuse to avoid giving on the job training to new recruits cos no matter how competent and experienced an individual is,there might still be need for induction(general standard) and on the job training

Some of the comments here are just frightening and i really hope they don't reflect facts on ground  huh

Who is unemployable,anyone? huh
PoliticsRe: Stop The Insult On Mr President by Ufeolorun(m): 10:52am On Sep 01, 2011

TV/MoviesRe: Cnn African Voices Cover Nollywoodlove Very Interesting by Ufeolorun(m): 2:58pm On Aug 27, 2011
I was very impressed when I got to YouTube, and landed on Yorubalove one of their channels, you get the whole length of the movies and not  the usual tiny pieces.Though, i was initially disappointed when youtube took them all off but I strongly agree on any frame work that will put money back in the hands of the movie makers or the industry. cool

Adesanmi as usual grin, stylishly Emphasizing the scary incompetence that Nigeria is saddled with for the next 3years or so.We get the message, let the fake mourners try another trick.
Gbawe:
They can pretend all they want but we know deep down that the apologists of GEJ know what this article is saying .
Johndoe100:
@gbawe

The thing is this, here you are insulting our president, when you are not even Nigerian? At best you are an Internet Nigerian, a Yoruba parasite. (at this point that is what your people are from where my people stand). Please show some respect for the man as he occupies that seat. When you people wee busy destroying the country and Desecrating our homes and land we did not hear this kind of nonsense.
The owner of sahara reporters has gone to hide abroad, what is the correlation between location and imbecility?
Who cares of what your so called people think.whats the difference between what your 'people' think about themselves, We see  the mindless violence you people have consistently unleashed on 'yourselves',so if the Yoruba stops been a 'parasite' surely the next clan takes the tag by default.
cool

BusinessRe: Ngozi Okonjo-iweala Press Conference Is Much Ado About Nothing! by Ufeolorun(m): 11:37am On Aug 26, 2011
Finally someone is asking questions,i thought shes very popular on the internet smiley.Mrs Okonjo must not be allowed to further impoverish suffering Nigerians in order to satisfy those who sent her and this is where i think Sanusi  can finally show his populist side by standing against this sadistic move to devalue the naira.
My knowledge of economics maybe flawed but we import almost every flipping thing,no manufacturing base to take advantage of a weaker naira (export), so what exactly are the flipping benefits.

Katsumoto,

You've given  logical and plausible points so far but your opponents have been straddling this thread, chucking watery, emotion laden arguments hence making  this thread less interesting.

GOOD JOB, YOU SOUND MORE GROUNDED. wink
PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Is World's 87th Most Powerful Woman by Ufeolorun(m): 2:37pm On Aug 25, 2011
Why is Okonjo so popular among some people on nairaland? am still trying to figure this out.If its out of ethnic pride then i think Oby Esekwesili (super-smart) is by far a better trump card for the chest beaters than Mrs. world bank.

PoliticsRe: Osun Pdp Wants Aregbesola Sacked by Ufeolorun(m): 11:02pm On Aug 24, 2011
Aregbe needs to sit up seriously,he is needed on the ground more and if there are disclosures that are needed let him go ahead and make them, that's  what leaders do,as long he is not incapacitated.
The days of Oyinlola is long  gone.Your clock is ticking.
