getting married is not the problem per se

it's this foolish habit of many Nigerians of being in a hurry to pop kids into the marriage ASAP

A man who gets married at say 23/24 25 max for example can have an agreement with his spouse to delay kids for say 3-4 years b4 getting pregnant while working TOGETHER and praying TOGETHER towards building a more financially secure life for themselves
once they do that they can then pop one, two and say three kids...


It's all about planning

But NiggerAreans will not...

The woman especially will not agree
she wants to prove to the world that she is "fertile" ASAP
coupled with family pressure

You have decided to go into business choosing Ghana as your market and you are here on Nairaland looking for someone who didn't help you raise capital and who don't have any idea of how enterprising you are to help you decide on the type or kind of business or commodity to trade in. i doubt if you really hustled to gather the capital you have at hand to venture into the yet to start business or trade.
Ghana is a visa-free country for you as a Nigerian to travel to, you can reduce cost of travel by going by road, there are lots of bed space hostels in Accra you can lodge for as low as 10Ghc per night(if you don't have someone to accommodate you). why don't you pick up your passport and health vaccination card(yellow card), buy a bus ticket and head down to Accra on a 4/5days fact finding mission(won't cost you more than 60k if you are prudent).

Since you are strictly interested in the business opportunities in Accra and not vacation, you can locate one of the numerous bed space hostels in tudu, adabraka, new town, High street, etc. during the day you move around the markets from mokola, CMB, katamanto, high street to kwame nkruma circle, kokolemle, abosey okkai, kaneshie to odorkor, sakaman, awoshie,fadama, medina, agbogloshie market ( pls make use of trotro(public bus) for commuting within the city. taxis are expensive), You eat in local restaurants and retire to the hostel at the end of each day's findings. You will meet lots of Nigerian residents doing businesses and you can interact with them and also citizens too. You can do window shopping to know the cost of items you know are also very common in Nigeria or probably manufactured in Nigeria. i can assure you after 4 - 5 days of intensive fact finding on the street of Accra you will have ideas of what trade or business is gonna be okay with you.

Mind you, your visit will help you understand the currency, exchange rate, get to feel the environment, meet people, make acquaintances/friends, experience transportation within Accra, have idea of the cost of living and also help you have a cue on how to negotiate cost of transporting your intended wares/goods from Nigeria to Ghana. Remember everybody's story is gonna be different just as our destinies are different. i left Nigeria to Accra some 10+years ago on fact finding mission on how to start a business, i thank God i did cos i end up using my then capital to put up a commercial building in Cape Coast instead. I am seeing that in the next 10-15 years,individual retail will collapse!
Supermarkets(large marts) are springing up everywhere with better pricing and clean,comfortable shopping experience and people are beginning to know this!
So the only issue now is when?
They have money so they purchase most of these products in bulk and direct too so competing with their price is almost impossible.
The only thing stopping them now is people knowing this which will happen sooner or later.
So I think anyone involved in small scale retail should start making out plan B ASAP

Some of them I even helped them before they could go abroad... But that's just life. Always be determined to put ur trust in God alone and always rely on what your hardwork can get you.
