Population isn't the problem

Singapore doubled it's population and still doing well.

India had 500 million people about 40 years ago and experienced famine.

Today with over 1 billion people, India is exporting food and has good economy.

What about the US?

325 million in population but throwing away food etc and is arguably the most powerful nation of the world
population growth in Nigeria/Africa is a BIG PROBLEM

Nigeria population quadrupled in less than 40 years
That's not a good sign at all.

Guy if you do not have a brain do not quote me rudely . I have zero tolerance for wiseguys so keep your wisecracks to yourself.

In the UK and the US for example hardly anyone graduates from medical without debt usually in excess of $60000.

The government is well within its rights to charge university students the real cost of their education without subsidy. Those who can pay are free to graduate and go
those who cannot will have to "work off " the debt on terms that are explicit before they matriculate. It is fair to say we retain your certificate until you have paid your debt.
If you owe a university they are within their rights to withhold your certificate

There is nothing medieval about that . It is business.
I know for a fact that doctors trained in the 70s 80s and 90s did not pay one kobo as fees and after graduation many have left the country .

That is not sustainable.
Now in England university education is no longer free so there is nothing new or unprecedented. There are student loans in every country. The method of recovery varies from place to place but if you are trained as a doctor for free in Nigeria and you want to leave then you should pay for the real cost of your education
Story story

Okay, let US assume that they pay the "real cost" which .sure is a pittance any ways, don't you think that the doctors leaving will be happy to pay, as it means that they are finally free from the $hithole?

Besides in Nigeria most of us benefited nothing from it, apart from the "subsidized tertiary education" which btw is of pathetic quality

$hithole country undecided

The Lebanese community in Nigeria has a longstanding history of dark and illegal business in Nigeria, with illegal trade, drug smugling, etc
I think it's fundamentally important to cross-examine comprehensively Lebanese activities in the country. The Lebaneses get an official job to cover up dubious activities. Time is ripe to shed light on them before Nigeria finds itself unknowingly and unwillingly sponsoring terrorist activities and becomes disgraced internationally

This is how the black man thinks hence we are still eons behind the rest of the world.
How about raising the salaries from subsistence level and giving regular promotions, assuring staff of pensions and decent working hours, granting loans and showing good example from the top ? These will be just as effective as trying to intimidate workers.

Just imagine the degrading treatment these people are going through just because they want a job. I want to puke at the things going on in Nigeria.

This is POVERTY MENTALITY
Nigerians love and think you have to suffer head before you get anything in life

I went to this same CU and there has been only 1 first class graduate from the Department of Mass Communication till date (I'm not sure that has changed)

How can u easily have a first class in public universities when

-Cultists will chase you up and down
-No conducive environment, hostels look like where they rear Pigs
-Classes are meh, 200 students in a hall that's supposed to accommodate 90 students
-Lecturers are interested in sleeping with students or selling textbooks. Some don't even Come to class
- You can not walk up to your HOD /VC to have a discussion
- Lecturers see themselves as God
- Lecturers use the same outdated material year in year out

If you have ever left Naija, you'll see how real education is supposed to look like and you'll see how far Covenant University has Come.

During My IT while I was in 200 Level, I was assigned to Hnd Polytechnic students to help in correcting their English before it goes on air (news articles).. Those students made me thank my stars for the school I went to.

European nations and misguided black African migrants are the ones paying for America's irresponsibility!
Gadaffi should be held responsible too.

This man armed touaregs and many other groups across the mahgreb.

Africans hail him, but I see him for who he is

Gadaffi was not the only leader that was pushed out od power during the Arab spring

Why is it that it's Libya that has fallen apart.

Mubarak was pushed out, Ali was pushed out, and that's countries are not failed states like in Libya.

Above all, the FG made a rule late last year that, any professional body that has its equivalent in the country shall hereby be void for employment purposes within the ambiet of the country, you need to go to ICAN centres and see the alarming rate at which ACCA candidate are opting in as special candidates for ICAN...
upon 5years of been a Chartered accountant (ICAN) you will be awarded a chartered accountant of england and wales (ICEAW) and as well as CICMA (charted instituite of cost management accountants) automatically...

Bottomline:
If your motive is to remain in this country (or probably base in the UK) as a professional accountant, my brother ICAN is the best bet
interesting

But you need to be practicing in the U.K. to get the ICAEW after getting the ICAN?

India is more culturally diverse than Nigeria. So are many other countries that are doing far better than we currently are. Balkanizing a country based on cultural diversity cannot guarantee development.

Check your home state (wherever that is) for example, I'm quite sure that at one time or the other, there has been a battle for supremacy among the indigent tribes. Spain is not as diverse as we are, yet Catalunya wants away.

If we go that route, we will keep breaking apart with high hopes until we have autonomous families or even individuals and still we will not find fulfilment.

Nigeria is not too large to succeed. All we need is mutual respect and the political will to do the right things.
you got that right

mutual respect and political will

You've spoken well my brother.. exactly what I teach others. But it's more disheartening that supposedly educated ones are so daft and bereft of this simple knowledge. I still see senior lecturers that opposes splitting of Nigeria into smaller governable units with the foolish excuse that Yoruba or others will suffer most because access to crude oil money would have been cut away. They can't see the blessings of nature diversely in every region which is able to make each region great. You see foolishness abounds in all sector in this country and that's why we're where we are... it's terrible.
Nigeria is better together than split.

It's just that the structure of governance needs to be dismantled and the States given more responsibility and revenue streams too.

Ask yourself WHY Nigeria is not working.

Splitting a country especially A Nigeria is not as easy as drawing a line on the sand and that's it.

We have to share everything we used to have together I.e. the reserve, the armoury, etc

Who gets what? etc

Do you think England started off a country with a single tribe/clan?

Did you read the link in my original post ?
that is what these people don't understand

There is no such thing as real homogeneity of we really want to look at it.

The Celts, Angles, Saxons, etc were as different as anything

The viking incursion was what brought them together to repel it.

over the centuries, those differences were blurred and they became less different

Italians are as different as it comes 300 years ago

What is the difference between America and Canada? As for Switzerland, the dominant ethnic group are the Germans who make up 70 percent of the country. You love mentioning Belgium and Switzerland. How many ethnic groups are in these countries? Let me list them for you.
Belgium - ethnic Dutchs 66%; ethnic French 25%; Germans 1%; immigrants 10%.
Switzerland - Germans, 70%; French, Italians, Romans and minorities make up the other 30%. So you see? Belgium has 3 ethnic groups while Switzerland has 4. These countries have dominant ethnic groups. How can you compare those countries with Nigeria with 300 ethnic groups. What is the dominant ethnic group in Nigeria? You have Ijaws, Fulanis, Tivs, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Idoma, Igala, Ebira, Ibibio, Efik, Kanuri, Urhobo, Benin, Esans, Nupes and so on and you think this is normal? Inside one country? No it is not normal
excuses upon excuses

Do you know that the French are dominant despite their number in Belgium?

Do you know that the oromo are running the country despite being minority?

The white are minority in all south African countries yet they are dominamt

These things are more complex than the way you are simplifying it

Nigeria can work if we want it to

Somalis are Somalis and look at the shape of that country

South Africa Is multi ethnic and they are ahead too.

There is strength in diversity if we can manage it!

but as I always say, even if you divide Nigeria Africa into ethnic groups, the condition will even be worse

Countries who broke out in Africa are not faring better either

So what are we sayinghuh?

Nigeria will lose its diplomatic clout too if it breaks up, which Is not going to happen anyways so....

The Nigerian military is a huge joke. Other countries are displaying nukes, raptors , B 29, etc our very own soldiers are displaying muscles. I was at Jalalabad, Afghanistan for a conference some years back, I was so impressed with what I saw. Well equipped and well trained Afghan soldiers dedicated to tackle the Taliban. Immediately, I reminisced about my home country Nigeria as I shook my head vigorously is disgust. All our soldiers know is to flex muscles with their rusty Kalashnikov's that can't even fire a round without jamming. Lease tell those people say na bullets, explosives and TNT dey fight war no be muscles. I know you need to be fit for close range combats but our soldiers have taken it to a whole new level. And when there's nobody to fight, they look for the nearest civilian to test their strength. Lets assume the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Buratai enlists for the US army today, I bet he won't even be worthy of a sergeant rank. I know you might be reading this sir but if you want to find me , PM me let me tell you where to meet me.

This is why people are called Native Americans, European, Asian, or African Americans. As for belgium and U.k and Belgium, you don't have a point. There are many flaws I can point out, but check the ethnic composition of those two countries and compare it with Nigeria. By the way, I said 'dominated'. I did not mention homogenous countries.
