trademoore1: another thread based on ignorance liked, shared and hailed on by failed students not surprised to see many comments supporting the OP Medicine, Engineering, Law, Banking and Finance are all noble courses to read
when next you are ill- go to juju man since doctors are overrated when you want a bridge built- fly at night since witches and wizards have overcome the need for construction when next you have a police case- read the constitution you downloaded on your phone and argue your case and if you ever have to make sense of taxation- consult your village chief
i fear for the future of some nigerian youths if they think like this OP young people are trying to aspire to great things- this failed student is creating a topic to bash education and he even has some people liking and supporting him.
OP- ever heard of STEM? I bet not. Countries are pouring monies to encourage more people into STEM and you are here talking failure. Oga don't try to sound smart. Does your country pay attention to STEM? Are they well paid? What of conditions of service? And lastly, he was referring to the Nigerian environment.... If it were on a global stage, then I would have faulted him. |

Isn't she like 40 now?
Anyway, I don't know why these trashy and noise-making Afro-junk artists always like to bite the great Fela Kuti, while staining his image and the greatness of his artistry at the same time. How about perform ya trashy tunes and leave Fela Kuti out of it?
I thought she's famous...how come she's performing in a club, to a crowd that look 100% black (Nigerians and Africans)? In music, no majority white people, no fame. They're the ones who buy music and go to concerts due to their income level cos they have that luxury. But once it's only nyggahs (especially only nyggahs from ya country) that attend ya shows - then you're an underground bum still on the come-up. Warris dis now Shymexx |

The guy accepted the pregnancy and she still took her own life....just wondering why. Nothing justifies sending a pregnant teen out of the house. We commit worse sins against God, yet does God chase us from his planet, or act rashly against us? We should think for once na |

If not, how did they give her admission with out application? If actually she applied for them, is that not abnormal?
My concern is brain drift in this nation as she may not want to come back in Nigeria to practice! In America/Canada, you can apply to as many schools as possible. It's not like this zoo. Brain drain is getting worse now, as more people are opting out |

Nancy2016: What do you consider to be respect because sometimes when you hear a Naija man talking about respect he is of the mentality that "it is either his way or the highway". How many men consider the opinion of their partners before making decisions? How many men can humble themselves and seek the advice and guidance of their wives? I understand your point, trust me I do. But you cannot blame them tho; the expectations they have in many cases is due to what they saw in their house i.e. their mother when growing up.. A lot of men today shape their expectation of women based on their mum. I may be wrong tho, but that is my thought |

fawaz050: [b]Hmm,These days people no Longer chase their dreams we flow with Time. Thus, the major reasons why those courses are oversubscribed
Today,we forget the most sucessful people are the Ones who venture into what they Like.
Those Courses aren't Overhyped Infact No course is Inferior. The Problem is when most graduates of the course studied it not for Love But for how Lucrative it Is
Even a street tailor could be richer than a doctor. If he Loves his Job, Creativity would flow naturally and with creativity comes Patronage
In Essence,One should Look Inward and not Pretend a Particular course is one's dream course when Infact One is Actually flowing with the tide
I asked someone recently about her desired course and she almost immediately said Biz Admin.I could sense her response was Passionless. She clearly said it without a major Ambition, thats the main problem
We all wanna become Lawyers,Acc,engs, docs but not everyone gat the dream.do u get it.
If u have that Ambition,You shall suceed no matter what, cos the fire will keep on burning in U

MicroBox: We Africans have a guide which is the sacred books, Al-Qur'an and Bible because we are religious people either practicing or not. In these books there guides and illustrations on the position of women in marriage. It's not the matter of 16,17,18 or19 century. Beside in these books women are seen as fragile and be treated like gold and not as equal to the gold miner. Even from the creation of man and woman, if a man talk a manly voice is expected to be heard so also a woman voice is expected to be heard from her. ilu to ko ba so ofin, ko si eshe. Any land without a law will never have a convict. O.K. Let the principles in the book guide BOTH partners then. It should not apply to women alone. |

What you talking about? Even the ladies here in this forum will disagree with you. And yes..one year is too soon to reach a conclusion about women in the US/UK. Give it sometime! Have you been to Northern Nigeria before? If you have been around Nigeria, and not judging based on your own small circle, you will know that he is right. Nigeria is one of the worst places to be a woman, at least among worst 50 countries |

quickly: some guys find it easy to get a home based naija girl.
Small washing she don fall. The man is thinking of a woman like his mother the girl is thinking of euros and she will be on her best behavior.
And some want a girl who will.maintain that home grown naija training, home cooking similar to his mom Also
Once abroad the foreign law favor women so the naija guy who is trying to avoid stubborn woman who wants 50% of u r money will settle for home based.
Ordinary slap oyinbo go jail u. Home based can't call police for u but those abroad will not think twice.
but these r generalization and woman na woman after all and not all r doing same
Eventually the home based naija girl go still open eye after many years. Ordinary slap? So you think it is ok to slap your wife? |

balash: I have to be sincere with you, I understand one guy told you to get your way to Gambia that from Gambia u might link a certain country. It's all lie my brother! The money you go spend in all go reach 200k or more sef for just transport, and they don't speak English so don't be deceived! I understand you tired of the country and you really wanna travel out for greener pasture but no money. Don't rush it my brother. Lemme advise you, anything you fit do to save money please start saving the money he no fit reach one year for you to save 500k at least, I understand it's hard for you to believe you can raise such amount but 50naira sef is something my brother
When you have saved a lot then come back to Nairaland and ask for anyone who can do uk or any European country visa for you that you will only pay for the visa when you've been granted and you are good to go. I will advise you one thing, NO AFRICAN country is better than Nigeria, don't be deceived please. I have been to Ghana, Cameroon, Liberia And Ivory Coast, not to link into any country but on vacation strictly and I spent a lot. So don't feel am just discouraging you. Stay in Nigeria but be focused and save a lot you can travel afterwards.. I have been to those countries you listed up there, and I daresay that Ivory Coast is in a better shape than Nigeria in almost every thing. Ghana is over rated Liberia is just *lips sealed* I never go Cameroon so I don't know. I have been to different cities in Ivory Coast, and I know what I am saying |

abbey621: Agree! What I believe causes instances of such abuse in Nigeria is the fact that women go into marriage thinking the men are the sole providers and fully contented to be a liability. It is human nature to become frustrated at one point or the other. This is why I partially agree with some principles of feminism as long as it is done in moderation. That's the key word bro...
