Travel › Re: You want to COME TO AMERICA - Do You REALLY Know America? by Ugosample(m): 5:43pm On Sep 30, 2013
What i know about the US? It is a unique country, the most diverse country (in New york city, newspapers are published in more than 400 languages) they draw strength from their diversity, attracted the best minds from the world over from Albert Einstein to Steve Jobs e.t.c. Admits their society is not perfect but indoctrinates their people from childhood that the USA is the best country on earth and they strive to live up to their name. One of the few countries where the Child of an immigrant is the president(kenya), governor of Lnuisiana(india) former governor of california (Austria) speaker of the house of representatives (Poland) and the list is long. Looking at the entertaiment industry, some of the biggest stars are foreign born eg Rihanna (Barbados) Minaj(Trinidad) Akon (US born of Senegalese descent) Drake (Canada) Wale (US born of Nigerian descent) the world wants to be like them. The Chinese, Japanese, African youths want to identify with the culture (which is a bit hollow anyway) and if i go on, space will fail me. That is why America remains the number one destination for Immigrants. Do you get it?
Politics › Re: USA Minimum Wage Vs Nigeria Minimum Wage. by Ugosample(m): 11:35am On Sep 15, 2013
America is far better than Nigeria whether you blind patriots believe it or not. Someone said one can suruiue with 500 naira per day... Are you joking?! Can that pay House rent plus transportation plus feeding plus medicals and no insurance cover? To compound the problem, many Nigerian men have redundant wives (liability) If you factor in all that, you will know that we are suffering in this country.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Vladimir Putin's Letter To America On The Syria Crisis by Ugosample(m): 5:40am On Sep 13, 2013
Some people talk out of sentiment. Do you teenagers know how horrible Afganistan under taliban rule was? As for Iraq, annexing Kuwait, America's ally was the biggest mistake of Saddam. So the USA should fold its hands and watch? As for Syria, the matter has to be handled delicately, which the US government will surely do.

nora544: that is tru and the country will not getting better.
How will it get better when people are not ready to change? When they are not ready to open their eyes? A progressive society is one in which majority of its populace is enlightened and ready to fight for the common good of the country. God is just a prayeq away. Must you pay someone to pray for you? Nigerians think!
Politics › Re: Nigeria Ranked Among World’s Poorest Competitive Countries. by Ugosample(m): 12:53pm On Sep 08, 2013
Inasmuch as i have no sympathy for Jonathan, i would say that he alone isn't the failure, we all are. From aso rock to Okokomaiko to Jalingo, corruption is rife. When it's time to effect change via elections, sentiments beclouds reasoning. Many people are not patriotic in this country, from the Legislooters and Politheifians to the oil bunkerer in the Niger delta, to the illegal mine operators in the north (remember the Zamfara incident?) these little actions each one of them (us) take add up to ruin this country. Let us change if we want change. P.S. Sorry for going off topic.

Religious fanatism has ruined my country. Chai! Instead of one going to the pharmacy or hospital when sick, they prefer going to one "man of God" for healing. I'm so sorry for my countrymen.
Education › Re: Students Dont Want ASUU Strike To End - ASUU President by Ugosample(m): 12:24pm On Sep 08, 2013
From an objective point of view, i think both parties are not saints. Although fg is to take most of the blame for not being sincere i.e. Implementing an AGREEMENT they REACHED with the union, The lecturers also do not deserve being paid comensurately with their counterparts in the developed world because of their poor attitude to work (not all of them though) most of them don't do proper research (they give excuse that there is little funding, which in the case of my institution is not true, the money they get is squandered) e.t.c. If ASUU promises to improve themselves and by extension, their delivery, then their would be justified, but if it would be business as usual, then they are on their own. My 50 kobo.

This religious fanatism is the reason for Nigeria's woes. I remember when a pastor [you know who] slapped a girl openly under false pretense that she was witch. The members were in support of his illegal action. I'm just tired.

PapaBrowne: Lagos is a city. Check up the meaning of City. New York is also a State just like Lagos. There is Lagos City and there is Lagos State. There is New York City and New York State. The comparison is accurate.
Nope... Lagns city is not up to 8 million. However Lagos Metropolitan Area which includes Ikorodu and the rest can be said to be 15 million max. However, New york city's population is about 8 million plus, however the metropolitan area is heading towards 20 million. Check it out.

TV/Movies › Re: Big Brother Africa: How Multichoice/dstv Is Under-developing Africa by Ugosample(m): 10:50am On Aug 21, 2013
Conservative Africans are the most confused people on earth. Values my foot! One of the things my grand father told me before he died was that elderly people don't tell lies... That an African value. But what you find today is people who are old enough to be grand fathers(politicians) lying openly on tv. Another one he told me was that elderly people don't steal, and they also protect, correct and guide the youths of the community to responsible adulthood. Is that the case today? You see elderly men in power, customs, police etc stealing, Contractors stealing, etc. The elders don't also protect the youth but use them. Or how would you explain fathers using the youths arround as thugs? I can go on and on but time would fail me if i do so. Those are the real African values gone. And BBA has nothing to do with the above. So save it OP.

damosky12: Boss, thanks a bunch. SSCE requirements? What about switching fron English to Law. How possible is it? Whats at stake sir? Thank you.
You can. However, you must have literature in english and government in addition to maths and english of course, and you must have a 4.5cgpa at the end of year 1. It is possible if you work at it. Cheers.

damosky12: Mr Ugosample. How straight-forward is it to switch courses in Unilag? Have you experienced anybody switch courses b4?
It is possible to switch courses, especially within faculties. However, the two HoDs must agree, the SSCE requirements in that department must be met and your CGPA must be good. Some of my course mates switched to sociology and pol. Science due to the pressure of economics. Btw, education do not allow transfers out of the faculty. Good luck in all your endeavors.
