tactius: I'm not opposed to a United African currency, but most African states are so poor that at the end of the day, the stronger states would be the ones spending money on the weaker states.
Plus, strong economies produce industrial stuff which keeps their currencies strong. Most African countries are like Ghana which exported 2bn dollars worth of cocoa some years ago. One European company bought part of that cocoa and made products worth 17bn.
Ghaddafi whom you all admire, his economy was based on oil. If oil had dried up in Libya when he was in power, his economy would have gone down to zero.
Africa needs to be a producer, not a consumer. Then we can talk about single currency you have spoken well |
Business › Re: ECOWAS Adopts ECO As Name Of Single Currency by Ugosample(m): 8:53am On Jun 30, 2019 |
Focusmind: Will ECO survive? Monetary union is based on strong economic fundamentals of member union. Certain things needs to be in place before implementation. Things like sound micro economics, fiscal discipline in member states, huge export potentials in member states, political stability and peace.
All these are lacking in ECOWAS. Nigeria economy which should be about 60% of the sub-regional economy is not doing well and can't support itself talk more of supporting fragile economy of member state the same way Germany is the pillar of EURO and supporting fragile member states like Greece and others with huge debt.
The burden of ECO will be much on Nigeria and our export potential apart from oil is negligible. This will make ECO exchange with measure hard currencies to be worthless. More over, not everybody should be admitted into ECO. Requirements for admission must be set and those who meet the conditions will be admitted the same way EUROPEAN union set targets for membership admission. You must meet certain fiscal and economic and political criteria. These are to ensure stability and survival of the single currency. Ecowas should first study the European union. thank God someone sees what I'm seeing |

Originalsly: Most of it is because of complex. Whatever are the problems of Black women because of their environment.... doesn't Whites face the same problems? Are White women good and Black women bad? Of course anyone is free to marry who he or she likes.... some men even marry men. Not saying Blacks must marry Blacks.... and not only Blacks have inferiority complex... but we are the ones that are always putting down our women in order to justify why we are marrying out of our race. My thing is most marry out because of inferiority complex.... and we can see how submissive... and gentle... and understanding... and forgiving and unupsettable these men become..... forgetting how to slap the non Black wife for any sin she may commit... great or small. Why?... see the one on topic... that's a house husband right there. Under a Black woman?...how many hot slaps for her if she dare ask him to wash the dishes. but we are the ones that are always putting down our women in order to justify why we are marrying out of our race. This up here is not true :-| you are obviously not into MGTOW forums If you are there, you will know that is not true There are certain cultural chains in the legsof African women that are not on the legs of those in Europe, you know if and I Know it, and these cultural things being frictions instead of blaming the black women, they should understand that it's the unfortunate environment and upbringing they found themselves in. a Nigerian woman born and raised in the Netherlands for exAmple will notbe slaves to those things many Nigerians complain about that I have heard of anyways I wish you could understand my point EDIT And yea, black women put down black men A WHOKE LOT TOO African Americans and Nigerians are champions in that the ones who will marry white men and be of thsye best behaviour, cause she can't believe her luck And call the blaxk (Nigerian) men cave men, uncivilized, not gentle manly etc But unlike black women who are hurt when they get yabbed like that, most men in naija don't care so it's a two way thing And its the environment (in saying this again) |

I will advocate Ghana and the rest to implement it without Nigeria if the need is urgent while Nigeria follow later. Doubleprof1: What is the implications of the said single currency on west African economy Mostly negative An economic zone that has its biggest trading partners out of the continent has no business with a single currency the volume of trade in Europe is MASSIVE hence the currency EUR makes some sense There is massive value being exchanged between member States, hence the EUR being the measure of value And store of value is appropriate But how will ECO be useful when the trade volume between us is so slim That is just one Two a unified currency means a single interest rate for the entire region This will even be the worst, because for example when Nigeria was in serious trouble in 2016, the CBN had the authority to try all sorts of experiments with a monetary union, you have lost such sovereignty you cannot devalue or set interest rates unilaterally When Greece and Italy got into hot water, because they had no such autonomy like say Britain, they wrre is worse situation and their fate was sealed in Brussels. assuming Greece was still using their Drachma and Italy, lira, they would have done what was best for them. But now you cannot becAuse you have given away such sovereignty I Know Africans are not critical thinkers and act without reasoning so I am not surprised with the moves being made, and the conmemts I'm reading Shame |

I think this ECO would be for the best, especially as regards strengthening our currency. It would put a halt on the rising inflation in WA stated. it won't be for the best, trust me. |

Yohh: I don't understand why some people are just unnecessary pessimistic, always antagonizing anything and everything of their own even without a rational backup explanation.
I'm hopeful this will strengthen our currency strength. Euro is very strong even more than d USD. If this happens to be d end of naira, so be it. Who naira help before? you don't have an economics background you will not understand This is a VERY VERY BAD MOVE Nigeria better stays away from it. Ghana better stays away from it too What is the volume of trade BETWEEN the member States to warrant a single currency? each member has it's 5 biggest trading partners out of the continent, unlike in Europe that their 5 biggest trading partners are between each other Black man lacks sense, I have always known But not this level of stupid you just see EUR and you decide to adopt it. And besides, we !are supposed to have a referendum to ascertain whether we want this currency or not But in typical black monkey man fashion, these countries will want to force it on the people Shame |

aisammy4: Our generation need to understand our history. Single currency has once been used in Western Africa. During that era, there was boom in the regional economy though run by the colonial masters. But when we started getting independence, we all left it and followed a new course. Today, we find ourselves in a huge mess.
We can still correct this problem by trying new things. Remember that Africa has been blessed with both human and mineral resources. Let's use put it to use.
I believe with an integrated economy within the region, we can start producing and distributing these products within the region. Sell at a moderate price to all within the region but at a higher cost to those outside the region. Ensure free trade zone are domiciled in all countries of the region and also encourage exchange of technical know how and information technology. With time the region should experience a substantial increase.
However, people fear that Nigeria being the largest economy in the region will be overweight and will take the highest burden. Well that can be true, but dont forget that we will also be strengthening our economy too. When we start production in large capacity and growing our produce in commercial quantities, shouldering these responsibilities will create better job opportunities for the teaming youths.
I still believe Naija is good to go anywhere, anytime! NAIJA NO DE CARRY LAST! This single currency thing is a bad idea The economic fundamentals in the sub region does not warrant such And two, do they understand that this thing makes Nigeria especially lose its monetary sovereignty to the west African central bank? If a Greece and Italy situation happens in West Africa (and yes, it will happen, look at the useless economies around WA) it means we will all be in trouble It's finished for Africa |

Originalsly: Bro.... most Blacks celebs that marry Whites suffer from inferiority complex. Like the excuse above... it does not hold. Blacks are pretty much rachet... but not Whites? E.g... the Kardashians are all gold diggers... notorious gold diggers... but celebs marry them.. and are proud doing so.... and we. Celebrate them. If they were Black... would we be singing them praises?...would the celebs even for a moment think of marrying them? Why not? The guy here married a White.... do we have tribal concerns?....do we want to know of her background?...her religion if any?... did he pick her up from a bar?...was/is she an addict?....none of that matters... all that matters is she is White... and to many ... that is an achievement.... an accomplishment. All this can be explained away.... but no need to put down Black women to justify why a White was chosen. I disagree with you Anyone can marry whoever they want, and that is one Two, like I said, most of what the black guys accuse the black girls of us because they are victims of their environment and upbringing, you CANNOT discount that, especially black ladies from Nigeria, and the ones in America you cannot expect me to let a good woman go because she is "white" and I must marry black That is not sensible But yes, some do it because of some complex, that us also true, but saying most is not just true, especially in Europe. |

Bottom line is that they will be remembered. The Clinton Foundation has about 2000 employees and is doing amazing work in philanthropy. Trump is part of a dynasty.
Stop overrating abstract things. Lincoln is dead, kaput. If we were to have an apocalyptic event today, no one would give 2 f*cks about him. You're talking about men who've ascended to the pinnacle of world political domination and you're talking about soiled reputation. Do you know what many would give to live their lives for a day?
Do you know what soiled reputation is? Even the Bushes with all the so-called "soiled reputation or name" has a scion George who is the current Texas Land Commissioner and future governor of Texas state. Read, study human behavioral patterns, and consult experts even with disturbing postulations; rather than getting your talking points from overpaid hacks who are one bad story away from getting fired and living in a dumpster.

LordAdam16: Clinton body count has nothing to do with his sexual impropriety. That's why I asked you if you know about it.
This is how you guys follow the bandwagon and don't do independent research. Go read about the Clinton body count again and make another attempt at a constructive reply.
As for Clinton's name being soiled. That's a reach. The family has amassed more wealth and power than they know what to do with it; and Hilary lost because the silent majority didn't trust her crooked a$$, not because Bill was randy.
Trump was also accused of sexual assault, in fact as recently as last week. Dude is still the sitting President with a brand name that's as valuable as it's ever been. Stop looking at the world with rose tinted glasses. Things happen that'd shake you to your core if you know where to look.
Do you know how cheap it is to make people disappear, to make events look like "accidents," or the ease with which memory can be manipulated.
-Lord amassing wealth and power will not changed the fact that not Trump and Clinton have soiled reputations They can never be on the same pedestal as say Abe Lincoln or FDR Just like Nixon, they will be remembered as those who soiled their name, especially that punk ass Trump Having a name and reputations may not be valuable to some But it really is, and money cannot buy that As for your last paragraph So? Will that change the damage that has already been done to your reputation or name? |
