No. Most employer will prefer you are on ground before you can get any meaningful offer.

I understand this point very well just that I have always believed that one needs a job offer before he can proceed with a visa application.

davodyguy I apologize for my long absence from the thread and not being able to be useful to you but I believe femijck would've done his best to provide you with adequate information. It has been quite busy for me since August, couple with some health challenges. I was mostly on vacation overseas and in New Zealand which I couldn't even enjoy. At the moment I've just arrived Naija and will be here for a while. Anytime I'm able to contribute to anything I'll still come around to do so.

Hi Guys, i just got wind of this forum even though i had earlier proceeded with my own process without any help or assistance. See highlights of what i have done so far and where i am presently:

1. Did my assessment and found out i had 165 points.

2. Applied to NZQA for PRE for my Msc qualification only being the highest qualification i am claiming point for and also sat for my IELTS exams.
3. Submitted my EOI on 18th January 2019.

4. Got selected and got my ITA on 23rd of january 2019.

5. I was giving 4 months to submit full applications along with supporting documents.

6. Applied to NZQA for my full qualification assessment for both my Bsc and Msc which took some time due to transcript issues with our Nigeria universities.

7. Applied to NZQA for my wife's qualification assessment too since am claiming points for that also.

8. Did my medicals along with my entire family. Note you only have 2 recommended hospitals in nigeria one in abuja and the other in Lagos.

9. Did my Police clearance at alagbon in Ikoyi. You will get your report same day.

10. Gathered all relevant employment references from all the places i have worked before since am claiming points for over 10 years in my EOI.

11. Marriage certificate.

12. I also have to proof i own my wife using my house address number you both receive correspondences together or individually. photos of important events in your marriage life, Air tickets and Hotels reservation of vacation trip you both went for etc.

13. All other documents as requested in the ITA letter.

14. The document gathering process has eaten deep into the 4 months giving to me but eventually i got everything ready at the nip of time.

15. Submitted my application via DHL on April 25th 2019.

16. My application got to the processing center in Manukau Auckland after the 3rd day.

17. My Application was vetted and lodged into their system on 2nd May 2019.

18. My original IELTS results along with 6 photos were returned back to me by mail. Please note any document you are sending and is not the original must be notarized page by page and not just the front page only.

19. I am currently on queue awaiting my application to be assigned to a Case Officer (CO) which depends on so many factors that is currently responsible for the current delay in visa assignment backlogs issues they are facing now.

The initial process was that it takes up to 4 months before the co will be allocated but i guess am already 4 months today from when my application was lodged. However it could take up to 6 months or more. It obvious many nigerians are not taking up this route but instead using student visa which is still a good option.

Quest to seek others in my situation from nigeria led me to this thread even though i have been in Nairaland forum long enough. I hope my experience so far can inspire others too willing to take my route to start early by taking the first step. Nothing Good comes so easy and i would advise @Hartson not to give up his dream and still give it a chance for the passion to be ignited once again.

Please house I'm in serious need of recommendations on where to get an affordable dental care in Melbourne. Or even Brisbane as I will be moving there on Wednesday. I have been in serious pain and that has made my holiday almost useless as I can't even do anything meaningful.

You're all good mate. I hope you have an awesome time in New Zealand when you finally come over. It might be a bit boring at first if you're used to bigger cities and will be staying outside of Auckland but before you know it, you're fully settled and may even want to stay more.

Talking about kiwis and their politeness, an old lady just walked to me right now with lots of smile offering me some sandwiches as I wait to board my flight to Christchurch.

I guess your definition of "racist" might be different from what I know. Kiwis are among the most polite people you'll ever meet in your life. Even if anyone wants to be racist, they will never make it obvious. I guess you just read up an article online and then reach your conclusion based on that. If you ever get the opportunity, better come here to experience things yourself.

My third week in New Zealand, I had issues with my car on our driveway. Within 15 minutes I have over 5 people standing there with me trying to free my car. some of them were people who were just coming back from work and hasn't even entered their house. We spent around 2 hours that evening seeking for solution together. At the end of the day one of them called for a towing van and paid for it. They were there until the Towing van arrived and got my car out. I was so shocked by the level of kindness I received from people I don't know and in an environment that I just moved into.

I think if you've got your license, you can do deliveries for the likes of Domino pizza, I know a couple of students doing this here. Although they are Arabic guys. Does the delivery in Finland contribute to your working hours as a student? How much can you make off it doing deliveries in Finland in a month?

I can only say congratz to those who got theirs. Nobody can guarantee the outcome of any visa.In all honesty I didn’t support the second application because it has a very little chance. U need to get it right the first time. If denied, give it sometimes and claim your circumstances have changed. But because of your seminar date fast approaching, this kind of advice isn’t for your group.

A Nigerian guy is legally married to a kiwi, he lives in Brazil and the lady lives in NZ, the lady and her mum had visited him.... she’s re-visited several times but still he’s been denied ordinary temporary entry visa upto 6x. Now the lady had relocated to live with him in Brazil, so he can reapply whenever he qualifies for a Residence visa. Why am I saying this? It’s just to show a lot have changed in the last couple of years. Never use to be this hard. But people have taken too much advantage of NZ relaxed immigration rules and the new government is trying to correct that.

Many issues going on with migration all over the world and NZ is not exceptional. Many Europeans migrants are also finding it difficult to get a permanent stay in NZ now. So they ain’t targeting any particular race. It’s just what it is for now.

I think sometimes the way the person got to the country where they live and how they got their papers over there also plays a part in all these assessments. I also know that Brazilian passport is visa free to New Zealand so I think they should just have their child over there, work their way to getting a Brazilian citizenship since they are already living there at least that will enable him to visit here. I believe if he applies onshore it will be easier. He should also pick up some skills in any of the occupations in the skilled shortage list that will enable him get job here when he comes over for a visit. That way he has multiple options either through work visa or his partner.

Don't wait on anyone mate. People oftentimes disappoint. Plan your itinerary and embark on your journey. You more likely will meet other travellers on your way. And don't forget, when you travel alone, you travel faster.

Sometimes I do solo trips but going on a long road trip alone is not my thing, I don't fancy driving for long. About your South Island trip, if you will be in Christchurch between the 2nd and 4th we can meet up to have some coffee, drink or meals.

I'm sorry but the route I used won't be of any benefit to you because I traveled with Fiji Airways from Sydney to Nadi which is just a few hours.

I'm sorry if this will sound like me judging you, but I just can't help this feeling that you're not traveling for holiday. We all have our bucket list, but you don't just pick up a random place which is far off and isolated and say you want to go for holiday there. Your questions are not specific as someone who knows what he is doing. Have a rethink bro, because the amount you will spend on return ticket to Fiji is gonna be enough for you to travel to a better country with a good strategy and planning. I hope you'll understand that I genuinely care as a brother which is why I'm saying all these.

Do you know that some Nigerian villages are more developed than many of the big towns there? The weather is tropical just like Naija, they still farm with cutlass, Fiji time makes African time a joke (Google Fiji time or check YouTube).

If at the end of the day you still want to visit Fiji, feel free to check this site https://www.fiji.travel/information/getting-to-fiji for a list of flights and airlines that comes into Fiji. Check the route one after the other and individual airlines mentioned, you might be able to come up with something that might work for you.

This is subjective as it will depend on your preference and circumstances in either of the country. Both of them have their Pros and Cons. Just like Femi said, Finland will offer you more access to the European market/Countries. This is because of Finland being an EU/Schengen country, you can travel freely and live within the Schengen area and if you ever become their citizen it means the entire EU countries.

However, as a stand alone countries or maybe moving to any of them as a student, I will say that New Zealand is better if you don't mind the expensive tuition fees here. New Zealand is more interesting than Finland, beautiful nature and heaps of outdoor activities. The weather here is way better than Finland, the students have more opportunities here (I know this because I know people who studied or still studying in Finland so their experiences and economic status formed the basis of my judgement), Almost everyone here speaks English so it's easier to settle in and integrate faster. Kiwis are some of the most polite people on earth. I also think you can make more money here and save better with a good strategy.

North-East South Island isn't too bad. You get to see the Glacier, boat cruises, kayaking, diving or scenic flights. You also get to see some of the places where THE HOBBIT movie was shot.

Queenstown, Milford Sound and Glenorchy are beautiful places to visit too.

I will love to visit Queenstown some day, I always look forward to a day I will. I had suggested to some of my mates here for us to go on a road trip but they don't like driving long distance and the ones that are keen on doing the road trip doesn't have the time to. If not that I missed out on your offer, maybe I would have been able to join you on the road trip and tick that bucket list.

Look towards New Zealand I think it's cheaper for PHD. In most schools you should be able to finish in 3.5 years. If the post study visa is still the same by the time you finish, you should be able to get up to 3 years.

Bro, according to what you posted this is what they said about Perth.

Passengers transiting at Perth airport (PER) will need an appropriate visa for Australia if flights are departing from different terminals.

are you transiting through different terminals? If yes, then apply for a transit visa as fast as possible. In fact, I think it's safe to apply for a transit visa whether different terminals or not. Just in case of any irregularities. It should be easy for you since you were in Australia for the same conference few years ago. They will see some consistency in your travel history and shouldn't be difficult to get.

However, if the price difference with other airlines is not much just go for some other one that won't need to transit through Australia.

Weather in Hamilton, Waikato right now is around 8°C and we are supposed to be in winter... It's not too cold up here in the North Island. The last time it was 0°C here was last 2 weeks

It will be spring by then so I can tell you that it's definitely not going to be hot. Expect something around 5°C - 18°C then rain.
