I was attracted to this story by a debate among some of my American friends. Some of them were celebrating his death, while others said that it was wrong to celebrate his death (even though they also didn't like him, they said that you shouldn't speak ill of the dead or celebrate someone's death).

Why were some celebrating his death? Because he had a habit of insulting black women. In fact, it seemed as if he hated black women. They were sharing his old posts in which he criticised, condemned and insulted black women.

His personal views are irrelevant to the incident that took his life. They are inconsequential.

Nigeria...we rely only on oil. In the past, agriculture, minerals...even now. And all have this problem...the price does not stay at a level that can sustain all of us. That is why we have issues funding things.

1.No matter what you say, the fact is, government has not been able to squeeze out 1.3 trillion naira. The only way they can do that now is by removing subsides on fuel...and spending part of the money on universites...OR raising taxes .....OR....high fees.

UK...a sane clime..funds universites by high fees, and taxes. They don't rely on resources whose prices fluctuates as well.

You miss the point on tax. Who says Nigerians dont pay tax. That's quite funny. What is the IGR on the crude export even before the hullabaloo about the crash in price or removal of subsidy? How are the accruals spent. The problem is that we don't ask necessary questions. How much does the FIRS generate from CITA alone and how much goes back to the covers of government? How much is spent capital and how much on recurrent expenditure? The revenue on crude alone can achieve whatever Europe has achieved on infrastructure and it's sanity. Are you kidding me? My PAYE alone is 100% of my entire earning and yet we don't pay tax.

When you say UK universities generate funding from school fees I laugh again. Nigerian university had long sought for autonomy but same government has severally kicked against it. Scholarship schemes in foreign schools are created by private individuals and coalition groups. This is the major ways education is being funded abroad. Fees are subsidised for citizens and facilities are taken care of. Research grants here and there do not come from students fees. They are created from different projects enabled by government and different agencies. The problem here is that the police makers either so not understand how education runs successfully in this age or they deliberately ignore same.
TETFUND takes care if the tax you are talking about but how are the trillikns in Tetfund being spent. It is under the presidency. A source even said that TETFUND is the second most corrupt agency in Nigeria after NNPC.

Leadership problems, graft and somehow ignorance are the bane of sustainable development in Nigeria.

While agreeing that university education is not for everyone, the statement on maintenance culture being a duty on the user alone smacks of classified ignorance. In saner climes, you award almost same amount that erected a public building on maintenance. Roads are taken care of in the same way.
That is why you cannot see a single pothole in some countries' roads. In Nigeria, you are building a state of the art public edifice which the tiles alone require certain chemicals for maintenance and the septic pipes need biennial reinforcement. No one cares again after handing same over. Come back after 2 yeas, the building is already a shadow of itself.

There have been leverages and concessions handed out by ASUU for government to gradually implement their own side of the bargain. But after the talk, they will just put their back. Spend a chunk of budgets funding themselves, diverting a chunk of it and sending their children abroad. Who is fooling who.

Why would anyone expect me to drop my support for Tinubu and start supporting Obi cause he's promising heaven and earth yet he's governed Anambra and I'm not benefitting from it and amidst all of the over hyping I can't see any remarkable project Obi initiated into the Anambra system that I know if he's given a bigger platform he'd replicate it. He's just selling integrity (another Buhari)lol . I don't even want to go there .
That's what Nnamani is saying don't follow the bandwagon because they are making noise .

Why don't y'all face the reality, you can't force Obi down our throat. You're only hyping Obi because you haven't seen a better administration. Lagos state happens to be the most efficiently run infrastructure in Nigeria currently all thanks to Tinubu's planning.
You expect me to drop the developments i see because Obi is making sweet speeches of what he can't and didn't do in Anambra.
Lagos is the future of Nigeria.

Obi was fit 16 years ago but his tenure is celebrating mediocre achievements, the climax of Obi's achievement is he left money in the treasury such a joke . Mind you Tinubu's legacy in Lagos is beneficial to all Nigerians. Because the viability of Lagos is important to our economy. That asides Tinubu's Lekki FTZ is beneficial to all Nigerians Dangote refinery like other industries will be beneficial to the whole country it's taking in the highest FDI currently. You don't have to live in Lagos before Tinubu's plan affect your lives and that is for people who ask why we are supporting Tinubu. We can see his works.

Nigeria is the only place where people just wake up and erect bumps on public roads. And worse still there is never a sign warning motorists about the pumps. What happens to speed brakes that which are more appropriate.

My Jeep me neatly somersaulted due to one senseless bump just after lokoja while coming into Abuja. Everyone that drives along that route should know that spot. It's on a bend and just after a very deep slope.

If have also driven along those Ejule Ikeje Igah axis, those mud houses along the road, you will understand the difference between bumps and wickedness.

Drive in the night on Nigerian roads without exercising due cautions, bumps will teach you ugly lessons.

On the 28th July, I think it was the last Arik plane from Portharcourt to Abuja.

Mid air, turbulence was announced and shortly after that, the plane literarily dived to a dept that made the passenger quake and adjust for safety. They muttered different prayers and shortly after the plane continued smooth cruising, people were piling up to the plane's toilet. After landing at the airport, the Arrivals toilet was also filled up by same passengers.

A friend ( a pilot that flies private planes) sent text to me telling me that the pilot of that Arik plane told him that passengers didn't know that God saved them. That the plane was almost 'plucked' off the skies.

May we stay safe especially now that people avoid road transport
