I later cancelled it, then took another date in December. I thereafter asked for EA but was rejected.

I've now taken another date on July 25. Can I still keep looking for dates till I find a suitable date? Hope there's no limit as to the number of times one can reschedule? I'll resume by August 4th.

If you see an earlier date, don't cancel. Click reschedule instead. If you can still reschedule, you will see the option.

P.S: I honestly don't know why you requested for EA when you still have 2 solid months between your resumption.

Hi please I’m applying as an F1 applicant for a phd program in Houston. My dad is the sponsor. He sponsored my earlier Masters degree too at the same University. My husband and child are applying as f2 dependents. Child is 8 months old. My husband has a bar and restaurant in Cotonou and we also have landed properties in Nigeria. My first child was born in Houston in 2019. We have the fully paid receipts and I didn’t overstay. I actually gave birth there cus I had complications during the new year vacation. I have questions
1. Should we mention our restaurant and say that my husband will put someone in charge while he follows me to support me with the kids and help me settle down then he’d come back in 8months time during the Christmas holiday to check on the business…
2. Will they bring up the US child question?
3. Will they ask for his bank statement even though we have the bank statement of my dad who is the sponsor

Yes to the rest but please keep "he will come back in 8months..."out of your conversation. The rest are okay. Go with the childbirth receipt in case.

If you apply and not approved, I think you will have to pay another fee.

I recently left Ukraine due to the Russian invasion. Unfortunately, I was processing US CR1 Visa before this time which was recently transferred from Kyiv to Germany due to the war.

I'm currently in Nigeria and I've been reading how there are no appointment dates for German tourist visa. My US visa processing is at the last phase and I'd get an interview date at the US Embassy in Frankfurt anytime from now and I'd have only 3 weeks-1 month to prepare. My questions are as follows:

1. Do I apply for German tourist visa or official visa?
2. Do I transfer my US Cr1 case to the US Embassy in Nigeria? (Learnt it might take me almost a year to get a date)
3. What chance do I stand applying for German tourist visa and can it be expedited due to my circumstance? Thank you!

You can check the information for German tourist visa on their site or you change your location to Nigeria

My sponsor is my employer and it's a company. Why is it unwise to use a company's bank statement for the visa interview?

Okay, if your sponsor is your employer and wants to sponsor you with the company's fund, it's fine. There's no issue but you need to state clearly why your employer will want to spend thousands of dollars on your education. So your position in that company, what you will give back to that company, and the duration you have been working for that company really matters to prove your point on why your employer will sponsor you. Also note that, the money in the company's account is to run the company and pay employees for their services except the same account is used to fund employees' education (tuition reimbursement).
Whichever way, don't forget, you need to be concise when stating your reasons because of time. I believe if you gather your reasons right then there shouldn't be a problem.

Okay. The interview itself is a query so it's like you saying "how can I get visa without been questioned?"
It's not wise to use a company's statement of account but statement of account should be from 6months

Well, your i-20 was requested for each time you were infront of the VO yeah? So yes, they have information about your previous course/program

Good morning. The reason for the emergency. Everyone has different reasons for requesting a EA so you state the reasons with documents to back up your reasons.

Well if you really needed the EA, you will not leave anything behind. EA means EA and you should be ready to move if granted.
Keep checking for earlier date.

Good day UmmZayd, I'll like to ask you how I answer the question "how much does your sponsor earn?".
Now this sponsor is a business man and has numerous businesses, but we aren't particularly close, so I'm not privy to this information. I know you would ask me to ask him, but let's assume he wasn't comfortable telling me about his earnings.

You can get an estimate based on his statement of account. You don't need to ask him directly. I think this should work

Anyways, August is still 3 months away so anything can happen. Document: visa appointment, ds160 confirmation, visa receipt, int. Passport, i-20 all other supporting documents

The conference is coming up by July and I am one of the key person to attend. The organization has paid for my round flight trip and hotel already. I read through this thread and I have seen some persons use the emergency appointment route. Please what are the requirements for that?

A lot of arrangement even without a visa! Since you said you have read something about getting an EA for a conference, you can as well try to apply for one and attach all supporting documents that will help.

I just gained admission for Fall 2022 and I’ll be resuming by August. Although, I do not have funding yet. So I applied for Out-of-State Tuition Waiver under Centre for Global Engagement in my school but this will cover only a part of my tuition fee.
My questions go like these:

1. What are the chances of making up for my deficit when I finally get there?
2. I'm about requesting for my I-20 and my COA shows $21,000. At what rate can I convert to naira? Again, can I get approval by using a sponsor who is not a member of my family but willing to help? If No, what idea can I use to make the sponsor claim my family name?
3. If I should pay my SEVIS fee and apply for Visa next week, can I still be given Month of May appointment date?

1. It depends on your school. You can apply for campus jobs like working at the library, dining, sport center etc. You can apply for a GA if your department is looking for one. You can search other places in your school that has vacancy. In all, you can only do 20hours. "Can this 20hours job pay my deficit?" I doubt
2. CBN online rate because that's the same place your school will go for rate. You can't claim someone that's not your family. As long as you can state clearly why the person will sponsor you, you are good to go.
3. If there's May appointment by that time, you should get one.

Thanks for all the heads up on EA and all. I am resuming this fall on the 15th of August and I plan to apply for EA by June 15th.
However, Lagos was the location I picked and I am now paranoid about it since I have heard a lot of people say Abuja responds to EA faster.

My questions are:
1. Can I rely on Lagos to get an EA date?
2. How can I change my location to Abuja? - at least Abuja looks easier to get EA when one applies for it.

Please let me know how changing to Abuja can be done! ��

I'm in a similar boat as yours, I want to know if I'll have to pay a new visa fee if I change my location to Abuja...I already chose Lagos and picked November 10th for my appointment.

You don't have to pay another fee. In my opinion, your resumption date is still far. Spending extra (going to Abuja) is not necessary. Apply for EA when you are within 60days to resumption and wait till end of June at least.
PS: You can change to Abuja by filling a new DS160, updating your profile on the Visa page then you will be able to see Abuja dates

I can change my ds160 on "update profile" with Abuja as interview location, but there is no way to update for dependents. Will this cause an issue during interview?

You have to put a call through the embassy so they can update dependant's info

Sorry about that. There was space to upload all supporting documents including the DS 160 confirmation. Anyways, you can apply only once, if you want to benefit from that opportunity again, you have to pay another visa fee (which I will personally not do) or keep checking for earlier date.

Good day house, I had my follow-up interview for the IW visa renewal today. Below are the transcripts:

VO: Hello �
Me: smiled back faintly (because the woman was mean to few people before me)
VO: After scanning through the passports (me and my daughter), she asked why my wife and my other daughter visa interview was not successful recently.
Me: I briefly explained this based on the transcripts my wife told me (she stayed over three months in her last visit which I don’t considered an offense) then the VO continued with a lot of other personal questions which I answered.
VO: why did you travel in 2018 without your family?
Me: I went for a conference plus it was a very short stay. Next thing…..
VO: Your visa is approved but I’m sorry your daughter does not qualify for the visa for now
Me: this girl has never over stayed and the few times she traveled has always be with me (maximum of three weeks).
VO: Yes I can see that, she can reapply with her mum and her sister the next time.

Note: if you interviewing (non-immigrant) in Lagos anytime soon, please try to avoid the VO in the first counter (a slim white woman like that �).

Please I need advise from the house, this is the second time my wife and the other daughter are been denied (for this long stay reason and her response has always been the same - to take care of our host which was sick then), now they have joined my little daughter. Should I reapply with them all despite that mine is approved or what?

Okay just for clarification, did you verbally said, "which I didn't considered as an offense" or you were just thinking in your mind?
Again, why is your daughter traveling with you now and not applied with the rest? (First daughter and wife)

So as I'm thinking now, the VO will probably be thinking you splitted the interview into 2. Like, you go with one child while I go with the other. Nevertheless, you can't apply with them again because you have your visa already so let them all apply together.

Good afternoon folks…
Just heard from someone that went for her interview today. She had sought my opinion on likely reasons for her initial refusal and how to prepare for the follow up interview. I’m sure she’ll share her transcript here at a later date…but I’ll give a summary now…
Long story short…her visa was issued after the interview this morning.

She had a child in the US during her last trip (in 2021) which coincidentally was her first use of the 2019 visa. She also stayed for over 4 months due to delay in getting travel documents for her new baby. We were thinking of likely refusal reasons: could it be her 4 month stay? Her child birth? Not using the visa on time and for vacation purposes as stated in her DS160 in 2019?….I advised her to prepare responses for all these scenarios and we did simulation on two occasions…

During the interview today, the VO asked questions around why she didn’t travel earlier after getting the visa, why did she go and give birth in the US (Nigeria or elsewhere were options), whether she notified the embassy before traveling for child birth etc…she was able to provide convincing responses. Thank God for her testimony.
Take home for me is to prepare well and display honesty…favour is also a factor.

On another note, she shared some interviews that happened whilst she was waiting…
A couple was put on administrative processing. Wife has no issues but husband had two criminal cases in the US (he served time in prison for stealing, and had a failed drug test at another time)…an elderly woman had stayed for about a year in the US but had a successful interview (she explained that her daughter gave birth 5 months into her stay and few months later, there was COVID lockdown)…

There's no particularly format. The reason why you want to apply is to meet up with the earliest resumption, settle in, attend orientation, register for classes and be ready to start classes at the stipulated date. And the date you have is far from your resumption date which will affect every other thing.

You can put them in your own format
