Nozino: I did all I was suppose to do. Graduate coordinator kept saying UCF is a big school and competition is fierce. I was advised to resume and that funding may be available in the second year. Well funding is highly competitive everywhere. If you resume, do you have money for first year? If yes then no wahala. If not please spread your wings. Best of luck |

Nozino: Hello,
I was unable to secure funding for a PhD program and a Professor is asking me to defer my admission to another term yet I’m still not guaranteed funding. Should I defer? Or apply to other schools/program? I’m not interested in Mpower loans other I was approved for it and I’m also not interested in paying out of pocket for a PhD. I’m currently serving and should pass out September this year if that counts. If a school is not ready to fund you for a PhD program please look away (except you are the one that didn't do everything you need to do for that funding) . Apply to other schools and do everything you need to do to get funding. Funding a program is not just about submitting application. Do your own part as well. A lot of heads are fighting for that funding so be intentional about your application. Cross all T's and dot all I's Best of luck |

covcon: Good day, it's not a problem to use personal funds. I did and it worked out fine.
I think if you adjust your responses the outcome will be better.
For the first question, "what will this MSc do you for you"? Look at it as, "what will it do for you in the short to medium term"? "What will you achieve that you haven't been able to"? Something like, "You have worked for 4 years, and you have been looking for advancement opportunities, but those opportunities favor people with advanced degrees. Your supervisor has also confirmed that your profile is also not as competitive, so this M.Sc. is the logical step to improve your current situation".
For the question on "how you would pay the deficit"? It would be better to say that, "I have worked for this long and I have personal savings of Bleep that would more than sufficiently cover that deficit".
The VO doesn't know your story, which is why you are there at the interview to ensure they can understand it. So don't expect them to ask many questions until they get your story (it's an interview, not an interrogation), don't also rely on documents to give the story. Full succinct answers that will help them connect the dots easily in a short time is a good strategy. Nice one |

Nozino: Don’t mention.
I doubt if most master’s will accept a 2.4/5.0 scale for Msc. If you do have work experience, you can email the graduate coordinator and they may make an exception for you. It isn’t uncommon for people with low gpa and extensive work experience to get into Masters program in the US. I would also take the GRE/GMAT and apply to HBCUs if I were you .
If you don’t have work experience, you fit runs am. As long as you’ve graduated for some time. In this US waka, you have sell/hype yourself.
Get good references too. In fact, write your own reference and give to your references to upload. Oh well! And wahala will now start when you get assigned into a lab. Okay!! |

Thank you for the motivation. God bless you Have you reached out to these schools concerning funding?? If not, try to ask about the requirements for funding. |

Tirinng: GAs waive tuition and pay 16k stipend "Probability to get assistantship", then yes I will say you should find a sponsor and get your i-20 then proceed with your interview. You can then tell the VO, the GA wants you to be present on campus before they approve your funding. "Probability of getting on campus job", I honestly don't know how you will make $40k to pay your tuition and also go to school so I'll not advise you to bank on that. Infact, I don't think it's possible sef. Best of luck |

Edraokereke555: Hi Good evening everyone, I’m Edra and I just joined in here. I was informed that this is the best forum for legit information on my dream travel to the United States to study and I was also informed that there are lots of great and selfless personalities here on this forum which has really triggered me to join. Please great minds I have this question; I plan to do my Masters in nursing in the United States next year and I have a bachelors degree in biochemistry with a CGPA of 2.8. Please are there any recommended schools with tuition fee not more than $25,000 - $30,000 with either full or partial scholarship/funding and how do I go about the entire process. Thank you all for your anticipated response. Johns Hopkins University school of Nursing has this option (From STEM-Nursing). I don't know if they have funding for it. Also search for more school of Nursing. You may see some that charge lesser. For JHU, it's $50k/yr. You can start by searching for school of Nursing in reach state. Best of luck |

wale1437: By "Not legally married" i meant that our marriage was not done in the court. She is my wife religiously because we marries according to the Islamic law. That is why she able to visit me and get pregnant. I just want to visit her and the baby. Is B1/B2 still the best visa option for me? Thanks as you reply You can apply for B1/B2 if you are visiting. If she's there on a visa other than B1/B2 then it's kinda fine. And just to add, you guys are legally married so stop confusing yourself. If she's a citizen too she can file for you but if that's not in the picture, you can visit. Just to add, you can put in for a EA . Attach supporting documents without leaving out the discharge papers as well. Best of luck |

nickishire: Hello,
Please i need your help with an issue.
I went for my interview last week and i was delayed.
My course is Curriculum and Instruction in BGSU and there was no funding. I was interviewed by the Korean VO in Abuja.
The challenge i have presently is i intend to go back but now I have a 25% scholarship from another school (University of Pittsburgh) and a different course (Social Work).
Now my question i hope it’s not a red flag to change course or I should just go back with the previous course and school with no funding?
Please help!
Below is my transcript.
May 17 Delayed Bowling Green State University Curriculum and Instruction No funding
Me: Good morning
VO: Pass me your passport and I-20 ( He didn’t even answer my greeting )
Me: Here it is.
VO: Have you traveled before?
Me: No. I’ve not had any reason to.
VO: I see your husband is sponsoring this program.
Me: Yes. My husband is sponsoring me. He is the owner and proprietor of ***** school. He also owns bookshops in Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja. I also have my personal savings in addition to my husband’s funds.
VO: (Typing and staring at his computer) So, what will this program do fo you?
Me: Nigeria has a good educational curriculum and getting a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction will enable me to incorporate the knowledge and experience into the school curriculum to give my students a more vibrant and robust learning experience. Looks like i was boring him here. He just handed me the dreaded blue slip. There's nothing wrong in changing course but why the change? Although the funding might help but what will you say when asked why you changed course?? |

Richardtoba: Hi guys,
Please, I have a question about sponsorship.
Will the school or embassy contact my sponsor?
Also, I have two options for my sponsor.
1. My aunty own an engineering company and she is ready to stand as my sponsor.
2. My father is the cordinator of a world bank/ government project and can write a sponsor letter for me stating that the project will sponsor me.
Which options do you think is the best?
Also, will the embassy or school contact the sponsors? Using your dad is better if he can provide a statement that will covered your tuition if you're not funded or cover your deficit if you have any |

Ebi1: Hi. I notice you are quite knowledgeable about the visa process. So I have received my daughter's F2 visa. I'm still waiting for mine and my husband's own... since May 10th... I'm the F1 applicant. can F2 be issued without an F1? we applied together and got approved together... are you familiar with situations like this? Well to the best of my knowledge, you both are most likely placed on administrative processing to check for any loopholes or something. In the past, AP can last as far as 2months even for a F1 applicant. They confirm and check everything. if you go through threads way back 2018, 2019 just before the pandemic, you should see what I'm referring to. As for your daughter, she's a minor so there's probably nothing to crosscheck from her end. And yes, F2 can get approved without F1 as it's obviously the case here but don't worry, if everything is good from your end, you should be getting a pickup email soonest. Best of luck |

Under G because you are only officially allowed to work on campus or off campus with the school permission To add to this, you can use summer to do internship irelated to your program |

Symplyannaa: Please I need your opinion. I used church as my sponsor and got delayed
Korean man asked have you traveled out before I told him I have not
Where is your university? I told him What will this degree do for you I told him Who is paying for this I told him about the church and sponsorship
The Korean man was like is this a church when he asked and I said yes and he asked me what have changed? He then responded I tried but you’re not still eligible
I don’t know if is because I used church and my COA was 47,100 for a year
Please should I change my sponsor to my dad as I will do a school that gives me scholarship. Please I need your ideas The question is, why didn't you use your dad?? And why would the church pay so much for your education? The church is not running any investment so why spend so much on you ?? Yes, try to apply to schools that will fund you. Best of luck |
