vicdom: No fewer than twenty persons have been killed by bandits in Ganar-Kiyawa village of Adabka District, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State
The latest attack happened on Sunday morning at about 8:30 am when the gunmen stormed the community and started shooting sporadically, killing 20 persons including the village head.
Channels Television gathered that the bandits also attacked some surrounding villages, looted shops, and carted away some valuables
A source from the area who pleaded anonymity said that communities under Adabka ward have been witnessing a series of attacks and abductions from the bandits.
Bandits Attack Anytime “Today’s (Sunday) attack was a major one; they have been coming almost on daily basis to abduct people, major women, and children,” the source told Channels Television.
He said residents of Ganar Kiyawa have been sleeping in the bush for the fear of being attacked by the bandits in their homes.
When asked about the response of security agencies, he said the military was only stationed at Adabka and Gwashi town, leaving other villages vulnerable to bandits’ attack
“The security agencies are not enough to mount all the villages around. We only have a military presence in two major places, Adabka town, and Gwashi. All other villages around are left uncovered by the security agencies so these people (bandits) can just go out anytime they wish to and attack people,” he explained.
Police authorities in the state are yet to confirm the latest attack.

Whiteangel1234: Imo State Police Command neutralize 4 suspected IPOB/ESN members
Hoodlums suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB/ Eastern Security Network ESN, in the early hours of March 20th, 2022, attacked the Omuma Police Station.
The group which came in large numbers armed with Improvised Explosive Devices ( IED) attacked the police station, shooting sporadically but, were swiftly repelled by the Imo Police Command’s tactical team and operatives of the DSS.
The Police Operatives engaged the hoodlums in fierce gun duel and in the process four of the bandits were neutralised on the spot while other scampered into the bush having suffered defeat, with a number of them sustaining various degrees of bullet wounds.
No casualty was recorded on the side of the joint security operatives.
Five undetonated different capacities of Improvised Explosives Devices were recovered from the neutralised bandits including charms.
Meanwhile, Command’s Tactical Teams are conducting a vigorous and aggressive combing of the bush to arrest the fleeing hoodlums and to recover their arms and ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Hussaini while commending the officers and men for their gallantry, urged them not to relent until all criminal elements and their partners are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.
He appealed to Imolites for continuous support and collaboration.

A British father who travelled to Ukraine to 'join the resistance' against Russia has fled back to the UK.
Ben Spann, 36, returned to the UK after becoming worried he had joined a 'suicide mission' after he got 'some real grief' from his wife and son, 16, for travelling to the war zone.
Spann, from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, went to Ukraine because he 'thought it was the right thing to do' despite having no military experience or connections to the country.
He spent five days in a safe house in western Ukraine with four former British soldiers before deciding it was an 'absolute nightmare' and fleeing back to the UK.
But Spann, who founded the charity Change Your Life Put Down Your Knife, told Sky News he now 'regrets' leaving Ukraine and the older soldiers because 'I feel like I let them down a little bit'.
However, he recommended that other 'non-military people' not to travel to Ukraine because they 'can be more of a burden'

A wife has been left devastated after her husband abandoned her and their kids in Nigeria and returned to Spain alone.
According to the woman, who was still yet to get over the shock, they were all initially based in Europe, however, as it stands now, their chances of returning back to Spain have been thwarted by the man.
She narrated that the breadwinner and husband, identified as Chinedu, had reportedly returned with the family from their base in Spain on the guise of having a vacation in their home country, Nigeria.
However, he left them behind in Nigeria and returned to Spain with only their travel documents which automatically ruins their chances of returning to Spain.
In the video, the devastated wife was seen in tears, she obviously had no prior knowledge that they would be abandoned in Nigeria.
The woman who was on her knees all through in the video, blamed her husband's elder sister for spiritually manipulating him.
That's NOT a big deal. If the wife and the children are citizens or a legal residents of Spain, all she needs to do is to go to the Spanish Embassy with proof of who she is and apply for replacement documents. First of all, I would advise her to go to the police and file a report that her documents (passports and etc.) along with that of her children were either stolen or lost. It might take a little while but she would have replacement documents.
treesun: The Nigeria Immigration Service on Tuesday in Abuja reacted to a global ranking that placed the Nigerian passport 98th out of 199 countries; below other African states such as Malawi, Niger, Chad, Zimbabwe, Uganda and The Gambia.
It said although it welcomed the ranking, it is more concerned with Nigerian passport’s compliance with the global standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
According to details obtained from Henley & Partners, a London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm, the passport index published quarterly is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association, which maintains the world’s largest database of travel information.
The recently published Q1 2022 index cross-examined the passports of 199 countries with 227 travel destinations; and ranked these passports based on global access and mobility.
Each passport is scored based on the number of destinations that the holder can access visa-free. This also applies if passport holders can obtain a visa on arrival, a visitor’s permit, or an electronic travel authority upon entry.
Japan and Singapore topped the ranks with passports gaining access to 192 countries. The United States and the United Kingdom ranked seventh while Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan settled at the bottom five.
Despite emerging 28th globally, the Seychellois passport ranked the highest in Africa, having visa-free access to 152 countries. Botswana and Namibia ranked second and third with 86 and 78 countries, respectively.
Malawi (76th), Niger (90th), Chad (90th) The Gambia (75th), Uganda (76th), Zimbabwe (78th) and Sierra Leone (80th) all ranked above Nigeria and Ethiopia, which tallied at 98th. Despite Nigeria’s position on the list, it rose five places compared to the Q4 2021.
Reacting to the report, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Amos Okpo, argued that visa-free mobility is largely a reflection of bilateral agreements between countries and within regional blocs.
Speaking with our correspondent on Tuesday, he said, “While we appreciate the work done by Henley & Partners, we are more concerned with deepening our passport technology to meet up with the standards of the ICAO; ensuring that our passport complies with ICAO guidelines.”
Okpo argued that Nigeria has been a Public Key Directory of the ICAO since April 2009 and, therefore, sits in a respectable position in the comity of nations.
According to the ICAO, “the Public Key Directory is a central repository for exchanging the information required to authenticate electronic Machine-Readable Travel Documents such as e-Passports, electronic ID cards and Visible Digital Seals.”
The directory which acts as a central broker for this information ensures that information adheres to the technical standards required to achieve and maintain interoperability.
Asserting NIS’ position on Henley’s ranking, Okpo said, “What we put more emphasis on here is our standing in the ICAO. When ICAO alerts us of any lapses with our passports, we get to work. Nigeria has been part of the Public Key Directory since 2009 and it took us complying with several passport security specifications to be reflected on that directory.
“This (Henley & Partners) ranking is based on passport admissibility. And that is largely a function of mutual understanding, reciprocity among countries which does not necessarily reflect the true strength of a passport. A good example is the European Union and the ECOWAS,” he said.
He also noted that when Nigeria joined the ICAO’s PKD, there were only 13 member states; New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, the United States of America, Germany, the Republic of Korea, France, China, Kazahkstan and India.
So far, the directory has 82 participant countries, with Mongolia joining in December 2021.
