PoliticsRe: LGAs With The Worst Roads In Lagos State? by uncleb(m): 4:44pm On Jul 02, 2012
adekennis: I no knw about other LG in lagos oo! But for Ifako Ijaiye wey me I dey,the Chairman dey try gan walai..D man dey fix road like craze and if u no beliv confirm frm somebody living in Ifako.dem go tell una
.

@ adekennis,

While am not insinuating that ifako- ijaiye ranks worst in terms of poor roads in Lagos State, i beg to disagree with your assertion that the LG chairman is fixing all the roads like craze. This is far from the truth and suggest you wanna use this this forum to score cheap popularity for the chairman.

I live in ifako-ijaiye, as a matter of fact i have been around here for about eight years.

Let me support my argument with specific streets (very popular) in bad shapes.

Haruna is a very popular street in ifako ijaiye. this street is powerfully "endowed" with potholes everywhere. About six weeks ago, the LG taskforce came to scrape off the surface of the potholes, giving am impression of imminent repairs, but up till now they are yet to surface again.

Adeyeri crescent and Oyemekun street are two popular and long streets in Ifako ijaiye,(on same landscape) the duo of which are in deplorable and gory states.

The linkage front of Ifako General hospital linking iju road and college road is another terrible street in the LGA. For months now, there is no day i ply that street that my fuel thank doesn't kiss the ground.

Please try and visit Emmanuel Olorunfemi Street (the street that houses CPM church), if you have a car and you are given accommodation for free on that street, you will think twice before you settle for it. The whole of that street down to where it connect Kayode street in ogba is in total mess.

I would also refer you to Apostle Famuyiwa, Bolaji Taylor, Tunji runwaye, Kayode Alabi etc (all at Haruna Inside)

Let me not bother to mention those within Karaole estate and Obawole axis of this LG

Bros, please lets try and be objective in assessing our political rulers, am shocked that this statement is coming from someone who claims to leave in Ifako Ijaiye. If you are still in doubt, i could take time to produce video coverage of the streets i have mentioned cos i move around this areas on a daily basis.

You can however give us specific streets being repaired to justify this ovation.

dedeike: It's only those who hve blinded themselves to truth that will not notice the present successes recorded by GEJ in power sector in the last one year. Make your inquiries. Gej has completed the construction of both Mambilla and Zungeru power plants, yet canuck says nothing is being done. Gej has also refurbished Alaoji, Utorogu, calabar, Omotosho plants in line with his revival of NIPP . Yet some haters don't see anything. JUST the other day, we saw Brasilian electric giants Electro bus sign MOU to participate in the ongoing privatization of PHCN, yet haters say nothing. Few days ago, we saw a topic in this forum whereby SHELL had gone to establish a gas plant for power stations in IMO state in line with FG's agreement with them for the upward review of tariffs. Yet haters say he's clueless. People are just hating and sounding like broken records.
Yet darkness persists everywhere!!!

You see, the guys has done Nigeria a great honor. But you see what delights me most, the guy has no link whatsoever to any of the idiots and wicked souls that steal our country resources and make our own educational system to be what it is today.

Despite all the money they have stolen, their children cant do this well, they only come out with average grades and then continue to squander money like their parents. they should be ashamed of themselves.

Dpeacemaker101: There is really nothing Mr. President would say, that some Nigerians would not find fault in. I really want to ask, what is the job of the ministers and public officer holders in curbing crime and peaceful running of this country. I understand that some individuals have been appointed to do or carry out some operations in different areas of the economy and the president will only make sure that these things are done. Nigerian problems have accumulated since independence till today, even the Buhari and others that want to rule us again failed this country and are the major players of the corruption in this country, your so called Tunde Bakare should remember that he is a servant of God and should be truthful to it, cos he would be held accountable for misleading other Nigerians. You don't expect GEJ to solve the problem of the country within a twinkle of an eye, we don't we even mention names of past presidents and their performances, GEJ is jus started as a president and everyone blames him for problems caused by others. It is just so unfair.
Dpeacemaker.

My people has a saying " omo ti yoo je ashamu, kekere ni yo ti ma je enu shamu shamu"

I dont know how to translate it, anybody in the house can help me.

Please list GEJ milestones in his first year and extrapolate to the remaining 3 years, then convince us that he deserves the office he is occupying, when within one year he has inflicted untold hardship on us. By my own assessment, these are GEJ performance scorecard in the last one year.

1. punished Nigerians by increasing fuel price - I can no longer drive to office cos i cant sustain fueling my car daily, previously i spend 1k daily (my car is 6 plug) and consumes average of 15 litre to and from my office daily. with fuel being sold at 97 i would spend N1,500 daily. The resultant effect is that i have to take public transport and use my car only on weekends. And do you know the consequences, sometimes , i get drenched if it rains, am stained even before i get to work in the morning cos public buses are not well maintained. I know someone would argue that in advanced countries even their big men like CEOs patronize public transport, but the question is are the buses operated in same ways?

2. Power supply has gone awry and we are now even talking of higher tarrif. From the begining of this year, i spent average of 2k weekly on fueling my gen, whereas in the past about 3-4k would do me in a month.

3. Prices of foodstuff has gone up in the market.

Finally, its not only Bakare who is accountable to God, you are , Iam, and Mr President is.

We are all accountable to God, when we see black and we say its white cos of our selfish interest. when we are supposed to talk and we keep silent, when we are supposed to say yes but say no.

EVERYBODY IS ACCOUNTABLE TO GOD,.
PoliticsRe: The President Lied! By Yinka Odumakin by uncleb(m): 11:19am On Jun 26, 2012
dedeike: Once Again, the opposition has gone full circle in a failed bid to doctor the interesting media chat the President had with Nigeians. I have much respect for Yinka Odumakin as an activit. But it remains to be seen how this analyses can ever be said to be flowing from that media chat. I watched the media chat. First, Yinka proceeded on a faulty assumption that the President was talking about the Ribadu committe set up to monitor our oil revenue. No. What the president clearly said is that while he was an acting president, he had already directed Aganga to invite any globally reputable audit firm to investigate NNPC. The president said this in a bid to clear the air on his alleged plans to kill Lawan's report. He said that even far before the House Probe, he had already taken his own independent step to investigate the oil sector. Logically too, one of the major reasons for the removal of subsidy was to eliminate the cabal from feeding fat from oil subsidy. So does it make sense when people now reprobate to accuse the president from shielding the same cabal from Farouk.'s hammer? Somehow both the President and the masses have a common enemy in the cabal. The president sought to punish the cabal thru subsidy removal while the masses sought to punish the cabal thru the probes but unfortunately both efforts turned awry. Secondly, it is not also true that the president could not face live questions. He did face all the questions thrown at him confidently. He responded to the Brasil trip perfectly. He told about ongoing power reforms in summary. He talked about YOUWIN in response to a question by the caller. He explained the reason behind the sack of Azazi. Please let's try to be objective. We must not kill this man because our preferred presidential candidates lost to him.
One thing is clear, a liar know he is lying.

I heard Mr president loud and clear when he said he instituted Ribadu team before the house probe. Everybody (except JEG sycophants) knew when Ribadu task force was inaugurated.

And let me even ask you dedeike, what has the FG done with KPMG report on NNPC. Not all Nigerians are fools, this government cannot fight corruption, because itself is built on corrupt practices.

I was trying one of the telephones lines for more than 40 minutes but no sooner had i dialed than it disconnected, hmmm, only God knows the magic behind those who successfully called in., anyway, for our country home naija, anything "fil" happen

In nigeria, it is easy to loose office if you are appointed. Whether you are competent or not, just be out of favour wt the person who appointed you or pose as a hinderance to him achieving a goal, then u are on your way out. Come to think of it, why would GEJ wait for the international community to refuse bringing investment here before he realized he needed to stem the insurgence.people lives means nothing to him.

But am confused, how many imcompetent people have we eleceted to various positions, at LG levelN state and federal so what can we do to send them back to their fathers'housess.

How ccompetent si the presi, your govs, senators, reps etc. Or do they hav immunity over performance assessment.

Nonsense.

Whats all this balderdash? how long shall we be taken for granted in this Nation?

1. Some idiots and wicked fellows milked our national treasury dry, abusing the subsidy scheme.

2. Some trusted people were sent to investigate all participators.

3. One of those sent on investigation mission went pursuing his own selfish interest conniving with some demons to escape justice

4. He was apprehended and delivered to good for nothing police

5. He escaped from police custody.

6. The main who facilitated his escape would be tried. We will hear that he has been dismissed.

7. Years later the officer who was reported to have been dismissed will become Commissioner of police

8. When another criminal escape, we would be told that the officer in charge has actually been dismissed 12 years ago.

And so the story continues.

Pennywise: What an irresponsible and shameless House of Assembly (yes of thieves). This present crop of lawmakers have further reduced in reckoning the profile of all things Nigerian to the outside world. I am surprised they still give press conferences when they ought to be in hiding as a group.

But the question is what is the executive and the president as the chief law enforcer of the land doing about this. For how long will he continue to use separation of powers as an alibi for crass ineptitude while authority, decency and statehood continue to slip away.

But I digress.

The real tragedy is that Nigerian youth of today as exemplified by posters on NL are ignorant of the danger that these lawmakers portend for democracy and the security of this country. The poor quality of today's education appear to have impacted on their ability to reason and make intelligent deduction. It offends every good sense that some pple here will try to excuse patently criminal act by their elected legislators rather than calling them to order. It seriously calls to question, the future of Nigeria.

It is time for civil society groups to justify the dollars they collect regularly in the name of democracy to team up with Otedola as interested party in the suit against these criminal elements.

Meanwhile ASUU,NLC, TUC and NANS can keep embarrassing themselves by remaining mute.
And which executive are you referring to? Hmm I am afraid at the level of ignorance displayed here by some posters.

Asking TUC and NLC to lead revolution? Dead dream. Who told u it was for free that NLC and TUC suspended the january strike when the executive imposed higher petrol price. I wish I had a video clipse of Tunde Esele interview on STV, this man could not deny that your "holy" executives bought them over. His response to the allegation of being bought over was that he knew that that was what a typical Nigerian would do if in his position and that was why they were sayin so

[quote author=Sky Blue]How do you know Otedola is fighting to "clean" the house? You make his motives sound so altruistic. We need to stop being fools in other people's wars.

Be very very careful here and don't be so quick to take sides especially when you don't know what part Otedola plays in the greater scheme of things. This is really very simple, a bribe was apparently recorded, let the courts handle it and the appropriate sentence be metted out. The posturing of Nigerians in this thing is pressuring law enforcement to make sure further corruption does not creep into the enforcement of the law, and asking for a refocus on fuel subsidy report.

This latest stance by the leadership of the house reeks of vendetta and there is no need for Nigerians to be caught up in it. Anyone who is not guily of something has nothing to fear so let both sides pick each other apart, it is for our own benefit. As long as that report is revisited and Farouk receives the full weight of the law (and whoever else is found culpable), Period.[/quote

I pray for more people wf good reasoning lik you. Sometimes I get annoyed how we allow sentiments to overshadow our reanoning faculties.

In as much as I know there are more thiefs than Lawan alone in the house, it doesn't mean they are all thieves. Lawan suspension and removal as committee chairmanship for me is a good step. My only prayer is that thhere is transparency in the entire investigation process.

And what is otedola afraid of, that house restored his company on list of those to be investigated iro of forex purchased. Wouldn't the investigation simply tell Nigerians what the forex was used for and prove his(otedola's) innocence (if indeed he is)to all. So where is the witch haunting coming from.

I think it unnecessary to take side here

If you are a muslim, nothing I wrong with islamic banking and ofcourse every christia has a reason to be suspicious.

But no one has been so reasonable to ask this question, how do the owners and promoters intend to run the bank without charging interest on loan which is the major income source to the conventional banks. How will they pay staff, rent fuel and diesel etc and what will be the motivation for the owners if no returns or it would be like a charitable organization and if yes where do the funds come from?

These are intellligent questions I expect us to ask on this form rather than getting enmeshed in religious bigotry.

So, advocates of islamic banking please educate us.

PoliticsRe: Police To Declare Farouk Lawan Wanted by uncleb(m): 2:14pm On Jun 14, 2012
noblezone: unfortunately, 90-something-% of Nigerians will not agree. They trade on sentiments rather than think on how we can move Nigeria forward.

Till now, I still stand my ground that the only way forward is the 100% removal of subsidy. That is the bullet that will kill corruption in the oil sector: if the corruption in the oil sector is handled, Nigerian can then think of other areas.

Let market forces determine fuel price, that will introduce competition, and things will take shape.

May Jonathan and his team find a way to do this. Amen.

As for Faruk on th run, it is obvious that many of us think we are in the military era. To arrest a high profile citizen like Faruk is not as simple as that.

Any way, I just heard on radio that he has been declared wanted.
Cant we just think for 1 minute?

Government has N1,000 as gross revenue in a year.

Was supposed to spend N300 and balance should remain N700 to give you road, electricity, education etc.

But claimed that it had spent N600 on subsidy (even though only spend 200) and so the balance is N400.

With the remaining N400 nothing has been done, no road, no light, no infrastructure (but money is only being shared among these rogues called politicians)

Now you tell me that subsidy removal is the solution. No problem, let me tell you the result of subsidy removal going by my illustration above.

Government will now have N1000 for roads, electricity e.t.c (excluding fuel subsidy)

But you know what, the N1000 will go the way N400 went during subsidy era. you wont see the result, it would only increase the money available to be shared in Abj.

As intelligent people, what we should be demanding is that govt should revamp our refineries so that we stop importation.

Aren't you a stupid and foolish fellow if you cultivate yam, sell it cheap to someone and then turn to the same person to buy pounded yam at an exorbitant price to feed your family? what stops you from getting your own pestle and mortal?

ijigbamigb: No jokes. No pumping of hands. No hugging and no beaming as excited photographers click away. And, of course, no contracts awarded.

All was sober yesterday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, venue of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting where a special session was held in honour of the victims of last weekend’s air crashes in Accra, Ghana and Lagos.

The only memo for the meeting originated from President Jonathan. It was mainly on the crashes.

Almost 170 lives were lost in the Dana Air crash at Iju-Ishaga on the outskirts of Lagos and the Allied Air Limited crash in Accra , Ghana.

The meeting also coincided with the last day of the three-day national mourning declared on Sunday by the President. The mood at the meeting was a total reflection of a mourning nation as the President, Vice President Namadi Sambo and most of the ministers appeared in black dresses.

The ministers sat glued to their seat for about two hours they waited for the meeting to begin. The meeting which usually kicks off at 10am, did not start until about 11.45am. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, had earlier drawn up a condolence visiting schedule for the ministers but the arrangement was upturned when the President joined the meeting. He asked him to lead the visit to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri’s house alongside other ministers from the six geo-political zones.

She lost her husband to the crash.

The Special FEC was for the first time open to reporters, who sat through the session, which ended at 3 p.m.

The meeting started with the singing of the national anthem and the pledge. The second stanza of the national anthem was used as the opening prayer for the day. Then, a roll call of victims, one-minute silence, tributes, signing of national condolence register and the visits.

Three ministers - Edem Duke (Culture and Tourism Development), Senator Umar Idris (Transport) and Minister of State for Defence Olusola Obada, spoke on the ill-fated plane crash. Duke was ferried into another airline against his choice of Dana on arrival at the Abuja Airport.

Idris flew the same plane into Abuja from Lagos. Mrs Obada was waiting to board the same plane from Lagos to Abuja.

Aviation Minister Stella read the roll call of the victims. She reported the dual engine failure at 3.42 p.m. She also noted that rescuers reported immediately after crash.

The victims include 136 adults, five children, six infants and six crew members. The pilot was an American. The co-pilot was an Indian. Mrs Oduah also reported that an Allied Air cargo plane overshot the runway in Kotoka Airport in Ghana last Saturday.

The session became emotionally charged as the President asked the ministers to comment and make suggestions. The minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe advised the President to write a personal letter of condolences to all bereaved families that he cannot personally visit.

What the

ministers said:

•Minister of Health Dr. Onyebuchi Chukwu: “It was a weekend of sorrow for Nigerians. Actions taken so far by Federal Government, Ministry, Lagos etc are all in good direction. Nigerians should remain calm and put their trust in God. Government will ensure victims don’t die in vain. Aviation sector is like medicine; safety cannot be taken for granted. Government will take proper action if any lapse is found during investigation. May God’s intervention heal our nation”.

•Minister of Interior Abba Moro described the incident as unfortunate. “God will grant President Jonathan the courage to weather the storm”. He commended rescue workers and assured that the panel’s recommendations will address many issues.

•Transport Minister Umar Idris: “There is destiny in everything. There is the hand of God in everything. Every man will taste death. Any time any one dies, his time has come. I used that same aircraft same day from Lagos and came to Abuja by 2pm. In the conduct of investigation, certain issues will be addressed to avoid recurrence.

•Works Minister Mike Onolememenen: “While we pray for the repose of the victims, it calls for retrospection. We ve experienced several crashes. The circumstances recur years after. It appears that the only motive for operators is economic at the detriment of lives of Nigerians. It is time to float a national airline. It may not be wholly owned by government; some people can subscribe to it. The lives of Nigerians are too precious to be left at the whims and caprices of businessmen whose main objective is to make profit.”

Mrs Ochepe praised Mrs Oduah for the measures taken so far. She drew attention to the need to look at work ethics to ensure seriousness in all that we do, stressing service to God and humanity and not personal gains. “Collectively, we should strengthen those we are doing well and jettison those we are doing wrongly and embrace best practices. The crowd at Ghana crash site was well conducted but not so in Nigeria. Rescue team had herculean task to reach the victims at the crash site. We have to reintensify our campaign of national reorientation. Personal letters of condolences should be written by you, Mr. President, to all bereaved families that cannot be visited. The problems in the country are too many. When certain things become too much, we have to draw closer to God. In addition to national mourning, there is need for three-day fasting and national prayer for God to be merciful and clear the cloud hovering on our nation. In the Bible, nations like Nineveh did it and God intervened and so did Queen Esther and God intervened and saved the Jews.”

•Minister of Finance Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: “To the bereaved, we cannot replace their loved ones. But we can enhance safety so that our airspace will not become a place of carnage and loss of lives. We should also look at the financial and economic strength of the airlines to work towards consolidation.”

•Agric Minister Dr. Akunwunmi Adeshina: “We must take every measure to say never again. The number of economic operators not in aviation sector alone but in all sectors. Investigations are always conducted without implementation. This must not continue. A total overhaul of the aviation sector is necessary.

•Federal Capital Territory Minister Bala Mohammed: “Aviation sector has witnessed a lot of turnaround. We have a lot of gaps in terms of infrastructure, personnel etc. But still, we have done a lot. We have to make a lot of sacrifice, financially, to get equipment and training. Compensation and insurance should come quicker than before.”

•Petroleum Minister Diezani Allison-Madueke: “I watched the take off of the aircraft at the airport before I left Abuja. We saw the fire when we were landing and we asked ourselves what was causing the fire and was very sad on landing to hear that the plane had crashed. We lost five of our trusted hands. It is a turbulent time for Nigeria. Our prayers must be deeper because deep must call to deep. We must further tighten our delivery. We need to say that 20 years old plane can fly; they do all over the world. But we must ensure that engines are replaced when due. Punitive measures must be taken when we found out the cause must be fully implemented.”

Head of Service Isa Bello Sali described the incident as “tragic” as many professionals perished in the crash. “We join all Nigerians in mourning,” he said.

•Minister of Culture and Tourism Edem Duke was poetic in his speech. He spoke about the abrupt end of dreams, the innocent infants and capped it up philosophically, saying: “Infants who had no knowledge of the world, young adults with visions and ambitions, professionals who have contributed immensely all perished.A critical lesson to the living is that the future is not in our hands. Those who have the opportunity to serve this country must ensure love bond and know that every minute counts. I was lucky to be navigated around them and ushered into another flight which was not my preferred flight.”

•Mnister of State for FCT, Olajumoke Akinjide: “We can use it to show that we value every life and that we can transform Nigeria, especially the aviation. There should be no cover up. Ensure thorough job. Ensure all airlines, domestic and international, passenger and cargo, should be covered. International aviation experts should be included in the investigation.

•Minister of State Agric Bukar Tijani: “It’s a period of reflection. Our destinies are not in our palms. God decides when and how we return.”

*Minister of Women Affairs Hajia Zainab Maina said: “I have phobia for aircraft. I am always tensed when I enter aircraft. It is a national tragedy. We have been praying but we need to intensify our prayers. So many things have happened.”

•Minister of Niger Delta Godsday Orubebe : “75 per cent of plane crashes worldwide is attributed to human error and further to finance. A lot of money needed for equipment, capacity building etc. We need to create a framework to make funds available to the sector. It is another wake up call.”

•Minister of State (Trade and Investment) Dr. Samuel Orthum: It was a trial and setback. “Do not be distracted. It is important that we draw closer to God at this time. Nobody has its destiny on its hand. He qouted 2 Chronicles 7.14, saying we need healing and God can do that for us.”

•Minister of State for Education Wike: “I see the mood of people who are in pain and sorrow. Most trying period of this administration. It occurred at a time the transformation agenda is on course. Nigerians should be patient and await the outcome of the steps taken so far.”

•Minister of Communication Technology Mobola Johnson decried the insentive manner the use of communication gadgets were deployed. “A few hours after the incident, causes were speculated. A victim’s wife got to know about the crash through BB used to spread manifest. Nigerians should be responsible as we use the technology.”

•Minister of Labour and Productivity Emeka Wogu: “It is shocking and unbelievable; it is a total calamity. Children orphaned, family wiped out. I commend Nigerians who started rescue operations before agencies of government arrived. People found culpable should be dealt with. People should exercise duty of care.”

•Minister of State (Niger Delta) Zainab Ibrahim Kuchi: “Destiny can’t be changed. Prayers are necessary. We need to give the necessary support to the Aviation Minister to put an end to the incessant tragedy. Build more capacity in rescue work.”

•Minister of National Planning Shamsudeen Usman: “Investigate properly and take appropriate steps. We need to take certain steps ourselves. We can’t just say it is predestined. Issue of corporate governance and ethics of work of Indians have gotten to their country and they are also concerned. Nigeria is not being villified on this.”

•Minister of Education Prof. Rukiyyah Rufa’i said her Ministry lost six persons including the husband of the Mjnister of State 1 on Foreign Affairs, who were on national assignment. Those culpable should be punished to serve as a detterant to others, she said.

Vice President Namadi Sambo said the reports by the presidential committee would help in sanitising the industry. He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and fortitude for their love ones to bear the losses.

Dear Honorable Minister of transport'

Our stay here on earth is temporary, indisputable. But i think its very callous for a minister to say that the victims of Sunday plane crash were destined to die that way. How i wish that the wicked minister was on board when it crashed, so it could have been his destiny too or i wish his family members were involved and lets see if he would have taken such as the act of God.

Please God is not wicked, but when He (God) has given us everything to enjoy life and we use our hands to bring pains upon ourselves, God would have no choice than to sit down and look.

But for the corrupt and wicked leaders, emergency rescue teams would have arrived at the scene and at least saved some lives even if not all. How many Nigerians know that there is an airport around that iju-agabado/oke aro axis, had they equipped that airport with all necessary facilities, the pilot would have made a crash landing there, and with adequate rescue facilities on ground, these carnage would have been prevented.

Was it also the act of God that the Sosoliso aircraft which claimed also notable Nigerians' lives made a crash landing years back but the fire brigade did have water? Was it that God drained all the sources of water?

GOD is in heaven, He will judge all the wicked leaders whose actions and in-actions are causing the generality of Nigerians pains, grief, discomfort and sorrow day in day out.
Please minister, learn to ZEAL your mouth next time if you dont have anything reasonable to say.

Dear Minister of Technology,

I bet you are a misfit for the portfolio you handle. What is the essence of social media in the first place. Oh i see, the poor woman should have waited for 3 to 5 days when she would have light to watch your menaingless NTA before she realized she has lost her husband. She would have had to go to NPF to report her husband missing, they would have milked money out of her ..... Infact i dont understand the crop of clueless leaders.

And i keep asking, how did we get here as a Nation?

ijigbamigb: No jokes.

President, to all bereaved families that cannot be visited. wellmax: Yar’adua Would’ve Fixed Power Problem – Sambo

Vice-President Namadi Sambo, on Tuesday, said the illness and eventual death of late President Umaru Yar’Adua denied Nigerians the benefits of being led by a leader who saw himself as a servant.

He said Yar’Adua’s seven-point agenda and the emergency he declared in the power sector would have solved the lingering electricity problem in the country if not for his death.

Sambo made the observation during the public presentation of a book titled, ‘The Servant Leader: 2-3 Years Presidential Watershed of late President Umar Yar’Adua’, in Abuja.

“His seven-point agenda was coherent and many felt that when that was faithfully implemented, it would be the answer to the myriad of problems plaguing the nation and that it would remove the nation from the quagmire of incessant darkness into light,” Sambo said.

The vice-president said as an apostle of servant leadership, Yar’Adua was genuinely committed to serving Nigerians meritoriously until death cut short his desire.

He said, “The late President popularised the concept of servant leadership in Nigeria.

“It is a generally held belief that the late Yar’Adua had wanted to genuinely and meritoriously serve the Nigerian people up till the end, but his illness and eventual death cut short this avowed intention and service to the nation.”

Sambo recalled that as a servant leader, Yar’Adua expressed love for all Nigerians and showed genuine affection for all without discrimination or bias.

Describing him as a listening leader, the vice-president recalled that Yar’Adua, in many instances, reversed certain key government decisions.
