I thought one of the things the pride in was that they are GEJ was the only residential candidate who emerged through a democratic process of their party having defeated other aspirants within the party to emerge PDP flag bearer.

Why re they now moving from good to bad? what they condemned in other party now they want to improve. thats is why they never moved the nation forward, they are never progressive!!!

its obvious the guy is not sure of himself, he had the backing of OBJ in 2011, that baba sabi how to deal with both internal and external foes, so it was easy for him, now obj don turn his back at him, his becoming helpless.

Same reason they told Akpabio not to risk going through election at NGF, hes beginning to realize he has no political strength.

let PDP return him as their only candidate, Nigeria is bigger than PDP.

By God's grace, we shall chase out incompteece, indolence, corruption, inefficiency and cluelessness out of power come 2015 insha yesu.

Bros, a bill of 2300naira on electricity consumption isn't too much in a month given dat if u run a generator for d same number of hours 4 which d electricity token was consumed you will incur 20xs more and any other alternative to phcn.
In my ouse, we incur same as u on electricity but whenever we run our pass my neighbour gen for 4-5hrs @ nite, d gen will chop 300naira worth of petrol dats even without using d ac,freezers, iron, electric cooker, oven etc. But for 2500naira we have approximately 590 hrs of electricity given 21/24 hrs of electric current per day.
As much as phcn dey fumble, the electricity provided by them is still cost effective and better efficient.

Oga pls read my post well. I gav the analysis to prove that PHCN as an institution is a thief infact armed robber. Prior to getting prepaid meter my bill was 10k per month, now with prepaid meter I use average of 2.3k.
Make I write in your local language?

Who is the biggest thief in Nigeria if not PHCN? with all the extortion and exploitation.

God punish them, u never lost anything, more of your property shall be vandalised. God will pay you back for all your wickedness and atrocities.

This people will slam me 10k per month, in the naming of coded bill.

After a pronloged battle, they installed prepaid meter in my house last week and it came with 50 units. can you believe that one week after we havent exhausted 30 out of the 50 units, meaning that on average my monthly consumption is withing 120 to 150 units, at 12.5 naira perkwh, max would be like N2,300 (including their 500 fixed).

so why should this armed robber organization complainof vandaization which is even perpetuated by their own employees?

Crime / Re: Policeman Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing A Little Girl by uncleb(m): 2:56pm On Sep 28, 2012
naptu2: 1) Circa 1987, policemen at a check point at the junction of Adeniji Adele and Idumagbo Avenue shot at a danfo bus which they claimed refused to obey their order to stop (the danfo driver would later claim that the policemen tried to extort money from him). The bullets missed their target, instead hitting and killing Saka and Momodu Dawodu.

Lagos Island erupted in violence. Policemen had to ditch their uniform and change into mufti to avoid being lynched. The government was desperate to quell the riot because Lagos Island was just a few kilometres from the Presidency at Dodan Barracks. Reinforcements were called in. You would not believe the amount of tear gas that was released around Central Lagos (the tear gas lead to the death of Alhaji Lateef Jakande's father).

Two policemen were arrested. One pleaded guilty and was quickly hanged. The other pleaded not guilty, lost the case and appealed all the way to the Supreme Court. He was hanged in 1989.

2) This particular policeman faces a very long time on death row, because the government cannot hang him. According to law, only a licensed hangman, who has gone to the hangman school, can hang a person sentenced to death in Nigeria. There are no licensed hangmen in Nigeria. The last time somebody was hanged in Nigeria was in 1995 (Ken Saro-Wiwa and colleagues). A licensed hangman was brought in from Ghana to hang them. There are no licensed hangmen in Ghana anymore. Since then, everybody that has been sentenced to death in Nigeria has had to spend an indefinite period on death row. A lawyer is trying to get all of them freed on the grounds that waiting indefinitely for death is cruel and inhuman punishment.

Note: Hanging is the only legal means of executing a person in Nigeria. The military used death by firing squad, but that means of executing a person is not in our statute books.

Please can we get volunteers to go on this special course. I guess its one of the specialty we need to curb all the evil practices in the country.

We also need info on schools that offers them and govt should be willing to give scholarship sponsors. otherwise, our constitution or whatvere should be changed with immediate alacrity. lol

Politics / Nigerians Yet To Grasp Nation’s Financial Status, Says Okonjo-iweala by uncleb(m): 11:27am On Sep 03, 2012
COORDINATING Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is not impressed by what she called Nigerians’ poor understanding of the financial status of the Federal Government.

To address the situation, the government has taken steps to enlighten the citizens on the lean resources available to the government.

At the budget presentation and defence by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA), Bala Mohammed, in Abuja at the weekend, Okonjo-Iweala said: “We have to do a bit of talking for Nigerians to realise the financial situation in this country. Nigeria relies solely on three sources of income: taxes collected by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Customs and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

“Nigerians must remember the quantity of what we earn is dependent on what we sell. Eighty per cent of the taxes we collect come from one revenue source and that’s oil. Nigerians have forgotten that we depend on oil and there are sometimes delays and this leads to shortfalls. Our resources are never expansive. It’s the same thing we get.”

She hinted that the FCTA 2013 budget might be slashed and other components of the document deemed irrelevant also cut.

“We need to understand the philosophy behind our budget. Priority should be given to critical areas since we have meagre resources. As part of the recommendations of the Steve Oronsaye Committee, President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered that all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) must find ways to streamline their 2013 expenditure in order to cut cost.”

While acknowledging the pressure on the FCT minister to always deliver in spite of the meagre resources made available to the territory, Okonjo-Iweala however came hard on the FCT administration over alleged bloated figures in the 2013 budget.

She contended that the cost of awarding projects by the administration, vis-a-vis other agencies, she insisted must be trickled down.

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=97594:nigerians-yet-to-grasp-nations-financial-status-says-okonjo-iweala&catid=1:national&Itemid=559

If i may ask, what exactly is madam NOI trying to say? recently, there was a public noise that the country is broke which she debunked, so what exactly is her point now?

Again, if the Nations doesn't have much as its believed, cant the ruling class also make some sacrifices? must the masses been drained to the last blood?
Elected and appointed public officers are all earning fat pay, travelling all round the world on a daily basis while is near collapse.

God is on the throne to judge everyone according to the work of their hand.

may be, may be not.

I remember an incident we had in my family, i was very small then. we had gone to the farm and harvested yams, got home, cooked and eat same yam. Guess what, in the middle of the night, everybody started having stomach upset; am talking f five people here, myself, two of my siblings and a cousin staying with us (pospy was in the north). Everybody was rushed to the hospital. of course mam was of the opinion that someone wanted to "wicked" here, but the doctor narrated several scenario of food poison. A tuber of the yam could have gotten contaminated from the ground, while cooking this is spread to other slices in the pot. if not for timely medical attention and divine intervention, it could have been something else. I thank God that we are all alive today. Please am just sharing to educate the house on various possibilities and someone should not misquote me.

Another scenario, same yam. I think i was in Js class. My uncle was working with the Ministry of Agric. in the LG and there were these guys staying with him at the LG quarters. they brought some chemical they used while planting seeds(corns, melon etc) so that rabbits don't exhume and eat everything. Uncle brought home in a gallon (to kill pests) unknown to anyone, the gallon turned and the chemical flowed into one of the tubers of yams under same bed. Thank goodness God that it wasn't my uncle's wife who cooked the yam (she would have given all the kids around). Mumsy went to their house and na the tuber of yam she carry give my mama (trust it wasn't a delibrate action).

My mum cooked and eat and guess what she started feeling dizzy, Thank God say my mama na disciplinarian, she no dey spoil pikin at all. None of us eat out of the yam, as we had all had breakfast. Anyway, God saved her again but it was a serious matter.

I have narrated all this to inform us that food posing comes in various forms, the vegetable or pepper bought in the market could have a very tiny but dangerous insect which if cooked with the food can poison whoever consumes it. Only God can save us.

I really don't feel very comfortable when people sound as if one is cursed if not running his own business. Am not against self employment or personal business don't misconstrue me, but please hear me out. If everybody runs his own business; how are we gonna have the conglomerates and the multinationals that we have today? Do u expect every business to be a one man shop or what?

I believe that people can have joy and satisfaction pursuing their carrier, either by serving an entity or being on their own. What we need in this part of the world is to have proper structures for running business and also enshrine dignity of labor in our business environments. People at the top need to eschew high handedness and stop being self centered. The evil in our land is that employers are so relegated and not well catered for, while business owners are busy living large, things now turn out to master-n slaves scenario instead of employees being seen as stakeholders.

Please hear me again, am not saying people should not be on their own, i ve got my my pans for my personal business, but i disagree with the school of thought that except you stand on your own , you cant be fulfilled. Politics / A Letter To Jonathan, "Jonathan Please Fear Reuben" by uncleb(m): 3:04am On Aug 28, 2012
Jonathan, Fear Reuben By Rudolf Ogoo Okonkwo
August 28, 2012 - 01:51 —

What was Reuben Abati thinking, or should I say, drinking, when he wrote his latest piece in your defense, President Jonathan? Not even during “your governor journey” did you have to go through this kind of degradation. What indignation could have inspired that mea culpa in Reuben?
Correct me if I’m right, but isn’t the job of Reuben to purify and sanctify you? Isn’t his job to leave you without stains, without wrinkles and without blemish? Isn’t he supposed to nourish and cherish you? And that is the best he could do? Ah, I swear, with all the money (or should I say dowry) that you paid to get him, he is shortchanging you- and shortchanging the taxpayers. I know that is not how that man treats his wife. You must demand that he treats you just the way he treats his wife. That’s what the Holy Book says.

Isn’t there an honorable way to defend you without exposing your innermost secrets? If Reuben wants to give us a window into your soul, there are less toxic things he could have told us. Instead of telling us the color of the brief you wear, he could have, for instance, told us how much you get paid every month. I know you would have approved such a gesture. Knowing that your monthly salary isn’t that far from the minimum wage would have calmed down millions of Nigerians who are making less than the minimum wage and are complaining that they cannot make ends meet.

In fact, since Reuben has seen your completed asset declaration forms, he could have told us what is inside. Like how many new homes you have acquired since 2007 –how many new pieces of land, new oil blocks, new cars, new bling-bling, new shoes etc. Believe me, we can take it. If our pastors own private jets and we still give them more money each Sunday, we will understand why our president needs to own things of substance. We may even add more to you. After all, it is not easy to think about how to save 200 million mumus in Nigeria. Reuben telling us things like that would have been a lot more useful than telling us that you don’t drink ogogoro, “kain kain.” Is he just laughing at us who can only afford ogogoro? I don’t get it.

Watching a man eat dinner is not how you know his mantle. It is in watching him lose his temper. Yet Reuben brags that he eats breakfast, lunch and dinner at the same table with you. He talks as if he knows what is served at that table when he is not there. I don’t expect that you serve the same fish pepper soup when Aliko Dangote comes over for two of you to fix cement price over dinner. Or that you serve cassava bread when the American ambassador comes over to reveal America’s top secrets to you. I mean, you’re smarter than that. Reuben fails to give you even the tiniest credit. Imagine?

Ok, the greatest of his blunders was to take his ill-conceived war on your behalf to the battalions of Nigerians on social media. I thought he was a student of the media? If he was, he would have learned that just as politicians of years past could never win an argument with newspapers who buy ink in drums, so it is that politicians of today cannot win an argument with multitudes on linked up keyboards. The only argument that works for that crowd is showing them performances that improve the quality of their lives. Where again did Reuben get his PhD? Definitely not at the same Ivory tower that you got yours. Next time Reuben wants to flex his muscles tell him to pick people his own size and stop taking on small boys and girls who type on borrowed laptops. Let him go after the likes of Okey Ndibe, Sonala Olumhense and Pius Adesanmi. Now that would be a fight that poor readers like me will like to watch.

So my president, don’t mind Reuben. You inspire men. You radiate great enthusiasm. You don’t need to be mystified and wrapped around a tattered flag. Those misguided individuals who attack you know exactly why. Some want you to give them appointments the same way you gave Reuben. Others want to ride on your gaffes to become billionaires like Ali Baba. Each and every one of them knows exactly why and what he or she is doing. You will be terribly shocked to know that when the lights are out your critics are patriotic Nigerians too.

Reuben said that public commentators who criticize you do not have their facts. But even you know that cannot be true. Does Reuben mean that these commentators cannot count the number of committees you have inaugurated without anything else heard from them? These commentators can remember those ceremonies where reports were handed over to you after long speeches. Then nothing! The wait for white paper and green paper and yellow paper go on forever. Since Reuben comes to eat all the time, he should have walked over to your bookshelf. He should have gone to the report section and told us what those reports say. I and my household know that they will all say that you have nothing to do with anything wrong about anything.

My president, since Reuben is going to write a book anyway, please show him as much as possible. Show him your PhD thesis. Show him your bank account. Show him your will. Let him see what is in them so that he will not be writing out of ignorance. That will hurt you the more. Because everybody will believe whatever he says because he will begin by saying that he used to sleep on the same bed with you and have peed in the same toilet that you have peed in. Sir, I am warning you now because I care about your awesome legacy. I don't want any man to mess it up.

If I were you, next time Reuben comes over to eat eba and ewedu, when he is done eating, I will send him to the basement. I will let him climb the attic. I will open the secret vaults in that Aso Rock for him. I will ask him to find the Okigbo Report wherever it is hidden. When he finds it, I will ask him to go and announce what Ibrahim Babangida did with the $12 billion dollar Gulf War windfall. I will ask him to find the report on who shared in Obasanjo’s $16 billion dollar power plants scam. I will ask him to unearth documents on those who shared in the Halliburton bribe money.

Sir, Reuben wrote that you surround yourself with intelligent people but he never said that your mind was always busy in a solution oriented way. There is something sinister about it. It is as if you are just sitting there as a piece of land surrounded by water. He said you have no ethnic sentiment. And then he wrote that you belong to the intelligentsia. What tribe is that? I don’t know anybody who speaks that language. Are you sure he is not using backhand personal abuse to insult you with that kind of talk?

My future most-praised president, you pay Reuben to think for you. Yet, he reduced your signature mantra- a shoeless man – into a mere metaphor. So what is left of your narrative? Is your presidency a metaphor too? Is good luck a metaphor that says we don’t need a president? These are serious questions. If Reuben’s nightmare is that serious, maybe you should get him to undertake some other tasks that require a little less thinking – like writing speeches for Patience.

Reuben has worked for you for how long? Still, he hasn’t gotten the core of your vision. What kind of nonsense is that? It is ludicrous that Reuben is comparing you with ordinary mortals like Abraham Lincoln. Why? Lincoln was just a sissy. Doesn’t Reuben know that General Stanton tore up President Lincoln’s letter in front of the president’s messenger and called the president a fool? Lincoln, the wimp, did nothing. Is that the kind of man he is comparing you to? Meanwhile, more than once you have lambasted the media and your critics. You did not blink when you told ungrateful Nigerians that “You don’t give a damn.” Every now and then you put on a general’s uniform. You even refused to say Amen in front of God to stupid anti-corruption platitudes. Now that’s a man’s man.

Reuben, if he is not acting like a metaphor that he is, should be comparing you with a stronger man, like Jesus- a man who kicked out corrupt money changers from the temple. How could Reuben be so mean not to compare you with the Lamb of God who gave all to die for the world? You left your lucrative life as a fisherman to save Nigeria. Now, that is a story that would have endeared you to all. But this Reuben was only interested in selling another story- the one that says he saved you from the jaws of the lion.

Just when you were eager to see the news of your $40 million dollar a year payment to Ijaw generals like Dokubo, Tompolp, Toms, Victor Ben and others buried in the internet graveyard, this useless Reuben reignited it. It is wrong for Reuben to say that you never do anything wrong. It is wrong for Reuben to come out and proclaim “Can anything bad come out of Otuoke?” It is wrong. Such careless talk is enough for Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi to kick you out of the Lilliputians club that Reuben smuggled you into.

We all know that Reuben wants to save his job and make himself relevant in Aso Rock, especially with the arrival of the pit-bull. But must he use glorified lampooning to ridicule you in front of the multitude, Mr. President? You, my president, are doing a great job of that. You don’t need any help from that department. If anybody asks, say that I told you so.

So, my president, you will agree with me that Reuben has turned into a relic. He is suffering from the disease of every critic - double Joshua complex – the desire to see the sun and the moon stand still until Nigeria is transformed and the desire to march around the wall of Aso Rock blowing trumpets until it falls. I, hereby, recommend that you promote him to the post of a permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Anachronism

geogeous: Nigerians and our myopic thoughts!ththumbs up mdsocks. Have we scrutinized the effect of the 5000naira notes well enough to see whether the good outweighs the bad or are we just saying things impetuously?if we can't pinpoint the adverse effect brought about by the previous introduction of 1000naira note, then we should really think before criticizing anyone.
.

Please educate this forum by enumerating the gains. Whose interest is this policy pursuing, the masses or the corrupt political class?

is this is sync with the cashless economy the cbn gov introduced earlier? dont you see a contradiction. I would rather think you are the one arguing or talking.

Do u see anything being sold for less than %naira presently?

Please wait until you have to dissipate 50 naira to take a satchet water, then you will know what we are saying.

Okija_juju: Nwokem... That news is fake..

You cant have a 5000 Naira denomination without first having a 2000 Naira denomination..

Also if your reason why the 5000 naira note is bad idea is because 'Some cant afford to spend 1000 Naira a week', then you have no business discussing the demerits of the 5000Naira note let alone opening an online thread about it...

MODS!! WHY DO YOU TAKE DELIGHT IN PUTTING USELESS THREADS ON THE FRONTPAGE?! We have already tackled this 5000 Naira issue over a month ago.. angry

I guess you are not in town,or do dont watch the TV
Politics / Re: Jonathan: With Prayers, We'll Overcome Nigeria's Problems by uncleb(m): 10:45pm On Aug 20, 2012
Presi was very correct men!! Two key words in his speech; unity and prayer. I guess I understand Mr. Presi righ....

1. Nigerians irrespective of our religious and ethnic difference must unite against; looting, stealing and embezzlement of public fund. Unite against mediocrity and non performance. Thus, we must unite against all the present crop of leaders(at all levels, (LG, States & ..) If Nigeria must moveforward because its not in their plans to move her forward.

2. Since the political class has becom too powerful, Nigerians need divine assistance to get rid wf them. Hence the call for prayers. And the prayer for all Nigerians from today shall be; Oh my .... (call the name of the God you believe), send down fire and thunder and strike all corrupt leaders who are embezzling Nigeria's money now now in ...( Call ur God) name. Oya pray pray pray.

I hope Nigerians just tak this simple hint from Mr Presi?

Gd night
