I hope Obaseki too won't lord himself as a godfather after his second tenure tongue
He won't.

He is too informed to try that rubbish because he has seen how united the people can be.

Remember the story of Aninih and how he was humiliated just for Oshiomole to win, but it baffled me that Oshiomole didn't learn anything from history

Oshiomole though he was god after all the support he got from Edo people against the wishes of Tony Aninih.

What baffled me was that the greedy fellow totally forgot history when he was trying to play Aninih against Obaseki

PoliticsRe: Edo: What Caused The Peaceful Outcome Of The Election & Federal Might Absence? by Uncleodi(m): 5:27pm On Sep 20, 2020
Sleevia:
From all indications, Obaseki has won this election but two things stood out unexpectedly

1. It was generally peaceful

2. There was zero federal might influence.

What do you think is the reason behind this?

I would hazard a guess and I am open to correction.

A: The U.S visa ban restricted federal influence, which Oshiomole, Ganduje and Tinubu were banking on. I was on twitter when I read that order has been given that there should be no interference in the election. This was why, after votes at the PU were done, all security agents, from Army to Police and others LEFT.

B. The Oba of Benin meeting. Before the election, Oba invited both contestants for a meeting where he specifically warned against violence in whatever form. I often read from outsiders that Oba of Benin is just like any oba out there but what majority do not know is the weight the Oba of Benin carries among his people and this election further proved that.

Since the APC took power, this is the most peaceful election we have had...

The question is WHY?

Please join the discussion and I would like to learn from other persons and correct me where you feel I am wrong.
You forgot to add the Absence of Abba Kyari

Some forty-five towns and villages are counted as Akoko, among the bigger is Oka, populated by migrants from Ile-Ife who wanted a suitable abode. Having settled around the precincts of lofty hills, they formed an alliance that protected them against Nupe and Edo invasions. Epinmi, like a few other towns have history of origin traced to Benin kingdom. Akoko kingdoms have similar traditional religious views which consisted of major Yoruba dieties.

Their consciousness of the oneness of the divine order however is reflected in names children had been christened with even before the advent of monotheist religions, such as Olorunfemi, and Oluwadamilola, both acknowledging the beneficence of God. Both Islam and Christianity is represented among Akoko population. Akoko tradition speak of at least twenty-seven invasions of the country by armies of powerful neighbors, especially Owo.

The Edo, due to the proximity of their Benin kingdom, especially the Afenmai areas, successfully overan Akoko towns but faced frequent revolts that made rulership over the entire Akoko difficult. From 1865, it became subsumed under the new power of Ibadan which moved fast to replace the declined empire of Oyo. Because of its relative distance from Ibadan, Akoko was always the poorly defended backwood province of the Ibadan empire. Ogedengbe, the 19th Century Ijesa warrior harnessed this weakness when it sacked Akoko towns under Ibadan dominion in the 1870s. While some towns surrounded to Ogedengbe, others like Ido-ani, Afo, and Ikun, which resisted were destroyed and the people enslaved.

At the closing of the century came the British power which ended both the side wars waged by Ado Ekiti celebrated warlord, Aduloju against Akoko people, and Ogendengbe-led Ekiti Paparpo War against domineering Ibadan. Akoko lands, like other Yoruba hinterland kingdoms thus came under British protectorate. Akoko people now constitute the majority in Ondo state after the severing of Ekiti which was part of the state till 1996. Although Islam was first to be introduced to the people, Muslim population have dwindled in favor of Christianity over the years, Akoko land, being close to the center of the fierce revival of Moses Orimolade, who was a son, and Ayodele Babalola who preached in the villages in 1930.

Please I have a question
Does Edo have any ancestral roots with Ondo
Cause I'm from Akoko N-W in Ondo State
And there is Akoko in Edo State
Slawormir(Mr Edo) your help is needed
Akoko people occupy the hilliest and most rugged part of Yorubaland, a phenomenon which historian, S.A. Akintoye posits, is an explanation for the great cultural diversity found among the group. The people’s ancestral abode is in the North East part of Yorubaland and the northern end of Ondo State, sharing borders with Kogi, Edo and Owo people. They are unlike other Yoruba groups in having diverse language dialect, and every town and villages maintained its independence from the others.

Akoko communities originated from five different sources including Ile-Ife, Owo, Ekiti, Benin, and Kabba. Generally, the traditional history of the origin and migration of the people revolves around Ife myths where it is said that sixteen children of Oduduwa conquered aboriginal peoples to integrate them into the new political order.

Some forty-five towns and villages are counted as Akoko, among the bigger is Oka, populated by migrants from Ile-Ife who wanted a suitable abode. The attention of the entire People of Rivers State has been drawn to the siege laid at the Hotel where the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is lodging while on official assignment in Benin, Edo State.

Recall that Governor Wike was appointed Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship election; this is same position Governor Ganduje of Kano State occupies for his party the APC.

Governor Ganduje and Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State are all in Benin, Edo State carrying out their assignment for the APC without any molestation or intimidation.

And in a breach of the pledge they made security agencies have decided to harass and intimidate Governor Wike who has not done any wrong.

May I on behalf of entire Rivers People Warn that we Shall hold the IGP responsible for anything that happens to our Governor.

Please always do your research well, so you would be well informed. History helps us to know our past for the good of today and future.

Moving the Adada campus back to it's original zone is not just to right the wrong of Chimaroke but to move the institution to a more spacious place for expansion. If you know Parklane well, you will agree with me that the place is not spacious enough for other new medical faculties that are coming up in the college of medicine.

Meanwhile, nobody is closing Parklane. It will still be there as a tertiary hospital.
Henry651:
Am a student in parklane and i support this change in location because there is no more space in the capital for hostel expansion and building of more faculties.. currently only medical students stay in the hostel because it only just three hostels which is not enough for all students making it hard for other students like med lab, Anatomy nd nursing to find accommodation. Also no lands to expand the faculties making the classroom not enough for students.
Kudos to the governor.
If it were Dave Umahi, I would beat my chest and go to bed knowing fully well that the project will be completed in record time with superb structural designs.

But for the man in Enugu, despite his bigger federal allocation hasn't done magic infrastructurally.

If Ugwuanyi was serious, he would have started this project in 2015.

Ebonyi State doesn't have a state owned Teaching Hospital, so Dave Umahi started constructing one from July 2019. Currently, it is over 70% completion with a big flyover in front of the main entrance.

See attached pictures as proof of good project execution.

That's the hospital of my birth. I was born there. My mother Fed me with good stories of how she was properly taken care of by the staff of the hospital. She would never forget how she and other expectant mothers celebrated the emergence of Ogbonnaya Onu as the governor of the then Abia state while I kicked her navel. I pray the government see the need to return it to the church. They've actually managed it better than any other public health facility in Old Ohaozara.
Nice, I was born there too.
