Sequel to the case brought before Justice E. O. Obile of the Portharcourt Federal High Court by a frontline aspirant of for the Edo governorship PDP ticket Hon. Ogbedie ihama, I want to state equivocally that the case has merit and justice will be served.
Hon. Ogbedie ihama is praying the court to disqualify Gov. Godwin Obaseki based on the fact that he only joined the party few days ago and he is granted permission to contest for governorship which is against the PDP constitution.
For those who may not know, chapter 8, section 50 (4-5) of the PDP constitution states as follows:
(4) There shall be a minimum of two year membership span for a member to be eligible to stand for election into any public office, unless the appropriate Executive Committee gives a waiver or rules to the contrary.
(5) In considering the waiver mentioned in Section 8((b), of this Constitution the following shall apply:
(a) for members aspiring for nomination for election to the post of Councilor, Local Government Council Chairman or membership, the deciding authority shall be the State Executive Committee; and
(b) For members aspiring for Party positions or nomination for State House of Assembly election, National Assembly, posts of Governors or Deputy Governors, President or Vice President, the deciding authority shall be the National Executive Committee, through the National Working Committee, provided that the process of clearance of the waiver starts from the ward level.
What this clearly means is that obaseki is not qualified to participate in the governorship primary of the PDP as he has not fulfilled the minimum 2 years membership required by the PDP constitution.
Also and very importantly, Obaseki claims that the national working committee of the PDP granted him waiver to contest but the question here is, does the national working committee has power to grant waiver without clerance from the ward?
The answer is 'NO' because according to the PDP constitution in section 50 (5b) the ward must grant clearance before the national body can grant waiver to anyone to contest for governorship but this is not the case currently as there is no evidence that members of ward 4 in oredo granted obaseki clearance.
What this means is that the national working committee of the PDP solely made the decision to grant Gov. obaseki waiver without consulting the ward executive for clearance. Indeed the 6billion naira report may be true.
A proof of this is the constant outcry by members of ward 4 that obaseki is been imposed on the party by the PDP national body.
I therefore urge the members of Oredo ward 4 executives to sue the PDP and I assure them that justice will be served.
The PDP is playing with fire and their penchant for grabbing power at all cost will surely lead to their doom in Edo.
The PDP should know that justice delayed cannot be denied and they can confirm that from David Lyon.
One thing is sure, if Hon. Ogbedie Ihama gives up on the case, another person will continue it up to the supreme court until justice is served.

Justice Obile Rejects Omoregie’s Request Restraining Obaseki From Contesting PDP Primaries .
Justice E. A Obile of a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has refused a request by one of the gubernatorial aspirants in the election, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, to issue an interim order stopping Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, from participating in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primary poll.
Recall that Obaseki was granted waiver by the PDP recently after he joined the opposition party from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The court however, invited the PDP and seven others over the legality of the waiver granted Obaseki to participate in the primaries.
BreakingTimes can authoritatively confirm that the court did not grant any order restraining Obaseki. However, mischief makers purportedly fuelled by Omoregie, have taken to the media to report what is not.
Also, rumors that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is behind it, has been denied.
The court in documents below listed the plaintiff’s prayers, but, it also listed the orders it granted, which nowhere in the four listed granted prayers did it grant any order restraining Governor Obaseki from Contesting the PDP primaries.
Reacting to the rumored court order, Mr. Anthony Ehilebo, the PDP Head of New Media in a statement personally signed by him, said whenever one is presented with any court document, it is very important to read thoroughly and decipher the intent of the presented court document.
The statement read in part: “When I saw the court order being flashed around and the hatchet media job I am informed is being pushed a compromised Editor at thisday, my sense as media and communications expert went into overdrive.
“The way they waited till late at night to release the deluge of planted media stories.
It is shameful that certain erstwhile leaders of the PDP in Edo want to throw the proverbial “Sand Sand” in Edo PDP’s garri, but NO man is God.
“The Party’s NWC has broad powers to grant waivers in the general common interest of the party as it did with Governor Obaseki and even in its press statement yesterday showed it favoured no particular Aspirant.”
The Media Expert urged all PDP Aspirants to “respect this position and go to the field on Thursday to test their popularity if any, without the rancours of litigation.
“They must remain informed that litigation with the party without exhausting internal mechanisms has consequences.”
“I thank our leaders for everything they have done to sustain the party through very tough times..Edo PDP is on the rise and may it soar to a place of greater glory,” the statement added.

There is always a process in every impeachment proceedings.

First is allegation of committing impeachable offences, followed by setting up of a panel to investigate the alleged offences by the Chief judge of the State.

So why placing the cart before the horse by deploying heavily armed policemen to the premises of the state's House of Assembly when the stipulated process is yet to commence ?

Firstly, the deputy Governor must have committed an offence, you go tell me say he never commit?
Secondly, the house of assembly have to sit to read out his offence or offences, then intimate the chief judge of the state to set up a committee to investigate him. You know the result already if a committee of such is set.
Then, the house of assembly then declare him impeach.
The members loyal to the governor need security protection to carryout their mission.

With the massive jubilation in the 192 wards in Edo state over the victory of Pastor Osagie ize-Iyamu, one thing is sure, and that is, governor obaseki should start preparing his handing over notes.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu pulled 27,838 votes, while his closest rival, Dr Pius Odubu scored 3,776, while Mr Osaro Obaze pulled 2,751 votes. This result represents the massive and flawless victory we will have over the PDP in September.
We therefore welcome whoever wins in the PDP primary to the race as we assure that they won't see us coming and it will be like 'dejavu' when we eclipse them in September.
Finally we call on every Edo indigenes to be watchful and raise any alarm as Edo treasury is in danger due to the recent report that Gov. Obaseki has removed 6billion from the treasury to bribe his way to the PDP ticket.
Once again, congratulations to Pastor Osagie IZE IYAMU.

For those of us currently in the field we can observe that Edo APC election is so peaceful as against the panic being spread by the outgoing governor of Edo state.
As a matter of fact, as we speak some wards has concluded their voting and the result is been collated. The voters are well arranged and all covid-19 protocols are being observed.
This is a vindication of the fact that the direct primary still remails the best form of party primary anywhere in the world especially in this pandemic. Oshiomole has indeed been vindicated.
With the manner in which the electorates are organized in the ward INEC will indeed learn from this in the conduct of the main election. This is the best way to prevent a pandemic and Edo APC has proven it.
APC has once again showed that power belong to the people by giving them the right to vote who they want directly instead of being bought by fat Ghana must go politicians.
Ironically, the PDP whose slogan is power to the people has never conducted a direct primary since inception in 1999, then one will question if they even believe in their own slogan!
We are proud of oshiomole and his achievements in the APC.
All those who want to kill democracy are free to join the PDP who we all know to be a trash can.
We also awaits the PDP primary in a few days time as we will be there with our cameras to see how they will maintain social distancing by converging over #5000 persons on one venue like 'sardine'.

With the arriver of Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki into the PDP along with his fat Ghana must go and rich friends, there have been massive pressure on other aspirants in the party to step down.
The pressure on these aspirants to step down is solely because of the fact that the PDP knows that Obaseki cannot win in the primary. Obaseki and his co travelers also believe that money answers all things and that with the right price anyone can be bought.
However, I want to urge the three aspirants in the PDP to fight to the finish, for the sake of democracy, their future and destiny.
One thing is sure that no man knows what destiny holds for him and if becoming a governor is by having a fat Ghana must go or by being the most popular, the likes of Yayaha Bello of Kogi state and Douye Diri of bayesa state would never become governors of their respective states.
Let's take Douye Diri for instance, all the power that be in bayesa state worked against him and only the immediate past governor supported him to win the PDP primary. The lack of support given to Diri by the powers that be made him to loose the governorship election because many party members were angry that he won the party's primary.
However, Diri is the current governor of the state by the miracle of God. This goes to show that no man can stop destiny.
I want to therefore warn all three aspirants in Edo PDP not to step down as it will be a betrayal on their destinies and their supporters who believed in them. If they step down, they will never have their political career back again and it will be a political suicide for them.
Stepping down for Obaseki will be a direct slap on the faces of Edo PDP members in the 192 wards that they have already gone to sought their votes and support and these people will not take them serious in the future.
Stepping down for obaseki will only show that none of these aspirants are shameless and have any plans for Edo people but were rather noise makers and distractors whose only aim is to grab Edo treasure.
A true politician with a manifesto will never step down!
Finally, I want to assure the Edo PDP aspirants that the pressure on them to step down only goes to show that Obaseki is afraid of them and he knows he cannot win the party's ticket after joining them just a week to the primary. Obaseki cannot even tour three Local government area in 6 months talkless of 192 wards in 1 week.
