The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N50 billion for rehabilitation of roads in Taraba and Yobe States as well as the construction of injection substations to boost power supply in Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that N48.4 billion of the amount was approved for roads in Taraba and Yobe while the remaining N1.6 billion was meant for the FCT electrification project.

The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, revealed this to State House Correspondents at the end of the council’s meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday.

Giving the breakdown of the N48.4 billion, the minister said N29.8 billion was approved as revised cost for the rehabilitation of Yola-Hong-Mubi road and N18 billion was approved for the Yobe State Government as refunds for the construction of federal government roads in the state.

He said: “The Minister of the FCT brought his memo seeking for approval for the upward review of the contract for the construction of two 15 MVA injection substations at Life Camp Gwarinpa, in Abuja.

“In 2015, council approved the contract to supply 15/33 MVA injection substations to improve power supply in Gwarinpa, but regrettably for more than two years the contractors could not access the site due to ownership tussle of the land.

“By the time they later had access, prices went up, dollar appreciated and they came back in 2018 and are coming again today saying that given the population of Gwarinpa now, they need not two but actually three injection substations there and that contract was approved today for the sum of N1,640,406,426.26.”

Also fielding questions from the correspondents, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, dismissed the insinuation that the Federal Government was planning to introduce different salary payment platforms for the trade unions in tertiary institutions.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had insisted on the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) it created, claiming that the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) was short changing them.

The federal government had in March said UTAS failed three integrity tests.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Educational Institutions (NASU) had also recommended Universities Peculiar Personnel Payroll System (UPPPS) as their own payment platform.

Ngige, however, said: “No employee or worker can dictate to his employer how he or she will be paid.’’

He assured that efforts were on towards resolving the ongoing faceoff between the government and ASUU as well as other university based unions over payment platforms.

He said contrary to insinuations that the government was not engaging with ASUU, there had been series of meetings between all parties with the next one coming up on Thursday.

Many religions teach that bad people will burn in hell. But is that the will of God? What does the Bible say about this?

According to the Bible, God created the first human pair perfect. (Genesis 1:27) He placed them in a paradise garden and gave them the opportunity to live forever. However, the first humans, Adam and Eve, had one restriction--not to eat from a certain tree. They disobey and reap the deadly consequence of death.

Had Adam and Eve been in danger of burning in hell, would not God have warned them about such a punishment? The fact is that he(God) mentioned nothing about suffering after death. How could they suffer? They did not have immortal souls that would survive after death. The Bible makes this very clear at Ezekiel 18:4 which says in part--"The soul who sins is the one who will die."

As the Giver of life, our Creator knows all there is to know about life and death. He tells us in his Word that “the dead know nothing at all, ” (Ecclesiastes 9:5). That is why Adam and Eve could not suffer in a fiery hell after their death. They simply returned to the dust and ceased to exist. They "know nothing at all.”

So, then, is it reasonable to believe that people suffer in hellfire for their sins, when Adam, the one who brought death upon the entire human race, simply became dust after dying?​ If both good and bad people die and nobody experiences suffering after death, what is the final punishment for those who continually do bad things without remorse?

Anyone who refuses to conform to God’s laws will be punished with “the second death.” as stated in Revelation 21:8. This is the death from which they will never awake.

So it is clear from what the Bible says, that bad people who continually commit willful bad acts without remorse will not burn in hell but will be destroyed.

So I went to church with my family, at the entrance of the church members of protocol use their security gadgets to search us whether we carry any kind of weapon. Me that did not even carry Bible expect my phone and offering, yet they use their gadgets on me.

My opinion:

I was just laughing because it seems they don't trust their members again for instance me a member of more than five years and listen to the pastor almost every week.
I think this acts in church will further discourage people from attending church services but to stick to electronic programmes

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has said Cesar Azpilicueta is mulling over a possible move to Barcelona.

Tuchel admitted he may reluctantly sanction the transfer if Azpilicueta does not feel he can be fully committed to the Blues.

The 32-year-old’s contract was due to expire at the end of this current campaign, but a performance-related clause triggered an automatic one-year extension.

Azpilicueta signed for Chelsea from Marseille in 2012 and this year’s Club World Cup victory meant he has won every single trophy possible during his decade at Stamford Bridge: Two Premier Leagues, one Champions League, two Europa Leagues, one FA Cup, one League Cup, one Super Cup and one Club World Cup.

“We had a lot of these talks, because very genuinely it felt like he won everything after the Club World Cup,” Tuchel said.

“Given his personal situation I can understand these thoughts that maybe a cycle is at his end.

A 65-year-old landlord, Samuel Adekoya, has been arrested in Ogun State for alleged child abuse and physical molestation of his tenant’s 11-year-old twin brothers, Taiwo Enoch Olishe and Kehinde Emmanuel Olishe.

DAILY POST reports that the man was arrested Friday in the Ijebu-Ode area of the state after the mother of the twins, Gbenisola Olishe, lodged a complaint at the Ijebu-Ode Police Area Command.

The woman had reported that, while she was away for a business, she was called on the phone by a good Samaritan informing her that her landlord had “tied her children’s hands and legs like goats, dragging them on the ground with the rope after he had beaten them with cable wire.” Daily Prayers

Ogun State police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement that the suspect was also seen “video-recording the cruel act while carrying it out.”

Oyeyemi quoted the mother as stating that “the twins sustained varying degrees of body injuries as a result of the wicked act meted on them by the landlord.”

According to him, the Police Area Commander in Ijebu-Ode, ACP Adeniyi Omosanyin, had immediately detailed some policemen to the scene where the two boys, “who were met tied down on both legs and hands, were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.”

He said the suspect was also arrested and taken to the station.

“On interrogation, the suspect explained to the police that he was informed that one of the twins excreted within the compound,” Oyeyemi said.

The police image maker explained that when the landlord was asked to take policemen to where the excreta was, “he said the boy has already washed it.”

“One of the twins is currently on admission at Ijebu Ode General Hospital due to injury he sustained while he was being dragged on the ground by the suspect,” DAILY POST learnt.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the case be thoroughly investigated and that the suspect must be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
