Any lawyer preferably a northerner on Nairaland interested in defending this young woman should contact me asap. I will sponsor her defense. It is an easy case to win.

This sex carnage in northern Nigeria has got to stop. The rampant rape and forceful penetration in the North is alarming.

Update: Are there no lawyers of northern extract on Nairaland? I am still waiting for a mail. This nonsense and oppression of women in the North has got to stop now

Family / Re: My Husband's Family Is Sucking Him Dry by ursamajor: 4:53pm On May 19, 2020
bukatyne:
Instead of telling your husband to stop 'spending on his family', point him to projects he can spend money on.

E.g. 'My friend said there is one cheap land at Igbo Tutu' or 'how I wish we had our house, we wouldn't be bothered about Baba Mulika asking for rent every year' or 'there is one mutual funds that the entry is N200k and you get 15% returns per year. We can be paying Junior's fees from the interest'. You can also bring up investment for your kids etc.

You know what works with your husband so explore that. Also appreciate him for what he does so far.

@buying your land: I am not a fan of spouses buying stuffs behind each other so I will say deposit the money in mutual benefit/Chapel Hill/Piggybank for now while you try to make him see reason. I particularly don't like the fact you want only your name on the land; recipe for disaster as your husband is not hiding his own funds; he is just not spending it wisely.

You should also understand where your husband is coming from: in some cultures, the 'worth' of the first son/husband of the first daughter is their ability to fund everyone's lifestyle without complaint while their own immediate family suffers.

It is a recurring theme so you re-orientate him in love and harmony to see that his family can and will survive without his handouts.

Also note that if he goes 360 and stops funding his siblings, it can cause problems for you'all.
If I can get married to a woman as sensible as you're, I'd be fulfilled.

Hahaha. We are getting somewhere.

Cain and Abel were twins(my opinion) even though there's no recorded evidence. After Eve gave birth to Cain, there is no indication of a long pause or time period before the birth of Abel. It is possible that there was a momentary break before the birth of Abel, probably when Eve said she has "gotten a man with the help of the Lord".

I strongly believe that Abel was born right after that. That is why they both came to God with offerings at the same time.

After eating the forbidden fruit according to the Bible, God said to Satan (((And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Here, the Bible said seed, not seeds so who is Satan's seed??

And to the woman God said....((( I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.)))

Now how does this make sense? Somebody just ate fruit and boom her desires auto became to her husband and she was subsequently punished with painful conception and sorrowful childbirth?

There's more to it.

Jesus called people serpents and descendants of vipers in Matthew 23:33 and in 1 John 3:12 he told them not to be like (((Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him?.)))

The wicked one as we know is Satan and the descendants of vipers are from the generation of Satan's seed.

I wish I can really go deeper but here's a thing I want you to figure out.

There are races right from Bible times. God's race also know as pure blood/breed and Satan's race.

When Jesus said that the truth shall set you free in John 8:32. They replied him with v33 ((We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free)))

Now the question...

Has Abraham's seed never been in bondage to anyone?

If you figure this out, you will understand me clearly.

I don't agree with you, at least not on this one. The whole blame should go to the high court, who assigned an unqualified judge to deliver judgement. Up holding the judgement would be outright miscarriage of Justice to Kalu, regardless that he stole. The defence saw a loop hole in the judgement and perfectly exploited it. The supreme Court did excenlently in the case on the contrary, not acquitting him but ordering reassignment. It is a technical judgement, yes, but the whole law and court process is built on technicalities. Additionally, emotions are not part of law but facts. The fact upon which Kalu challenged the lower judgement was valid under the law.
I agree with you.

Mr smart pant, hope you understand the meaning of NOMINAL GDP per CAPITAL. Go and read up on the NGC of those countries compared with Nigeria then come back for more information.
Only Chad has a lower score than Nigeria and still paying higher minimum wage
What have you contributed to the GDP of Nigeria besides posting propaganda on NL?

Even based on your own link, a liter of fuel in Angola is .286 USD. That's .286 multiplied by 436= N125 per liter.
Yeah, that's cheaper than Nigeria.

Stop wasting your small credit to do infantile research.
Oh! So it's about nominal GDP/Capital now abi?
I figured you would try to be clever by half.
You APC apologists compare Nigeria with America, Spain, Italy etc, when it's covid-19 deaths but never not minimum wage, why??
But take poor African countries to compare us with when it's about minimum wage, is that not hypocrisy?
Thank God you agree that ordinary Chad pays more in wages. grin

I know that all that economic explanation is too complicated for you to understand. Pls go back to bed.
I agree with the guy on some points and I made my own observations.

Forget US and UK, how much is fuel sold for in other African countries with less or similar minimum wage?

Angola which is also an oil producing country is still selling oil at about 115 per liter.
In Ghana is about N440 per liter. Ghana is also an oil producing country at a lower level than Nigeria.
It's about N500 Naira in Senegal and much more in some other African countries.
All in all, Nigeria and Angola are the countries with the lowest price of fuel and with similar economic outlook in Africa.

Do some research before castigating people or simply don't comment on issues that you are not sure of. No be by force to comment.

You see my friend you're not a very smart person.
So you conveniently omitted Gabon that pays $255/month, Libya-$325/month, Morocco-$355/month, Mauritius-$251, even ordinary Chad there pays about $125/month.
You also do not realise that purchasing power of currencies are different? Can you compare the purchasing power of Cedi to Naira in their resident countries?
By the way, Angola sells petrol at a lesser price to Nigeria.
https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Angola/gasoline_prices/
Before you switch on your data to type nonsense next time, make sure you know what you're talking about.

Good question.

If employers such as Chicken Republic have to pay the kinds of minimum wage to their employees like you have in California for example, then the chicken and rice you are buying will have to be priced like it is in California which is a whole lot more than N500 or N800.
The more you make employers pay their employees, the more cost they will pass on to the customers. No employer is going to bare the extra cost from their profit or they will simply go out of business. It could essentially leads to hyper inflation since the govt will have to borrow or print more money to pay for these increased minimum wages.
The minimum wage is low and should be increased but not to the level where employers can't sell their goods at reasonable prices.

If the price of oil stays this low for a longer duration, the price of fuel will still come down some more. The point I was making is that people iin the US and UK are saying the same thing people are saying here - if oil prices are so low why are we still paying almost the same price as before? Oil are sold in future contracts hence the oil that is used to refine the fuel now was more than likely bought when oil was selling at a higher price.
If the price stays this low for much longer then the price of fuel will also go down some more.
Oga stop justifying nonsense , that guy finished the discussion with his logical points.

Keep forming, very soon you go carry placard to demonstrate.

Apart from businesses moving to Lagos, Rivers is not generating new investments because of hostile and poor business environment, but also because of state sponsor violence, cultism and criminal activities.

When your have the highest unemployment rate in Nigerian, you should not be hostile and unwelcoming, you should be doing everything in your power to welcome businesses and even work with them to resolves issues and potential conflicts.

Wike is too crude, crass and thoughtless to be a governor.
But your myopic brain does not seem to realise they drill oil in Rivers and that is where the monies running the Lagos office and will continue to run it is coming from?

LOL. I am beginning to hear what I have been waiting for. The last time I said we do not have enough PPEs Masks, Reagents and even kits to use at the various isolation centres, including my duty post, some blind followers took swipe at me here. You cannot experience it better than those in the front line and a good reason why the number of health workers who got infected was so much. All we hear is noise here and there on the TV. Boss Mustapha majestically walked to the mic yesterday and said...we have sent 2 oxygen concentrators and 3 ventilators to Kano, a state with over 10m population? Oh, common...

Now all we hear NCDC say is...we are desperately in need of Beds, we are desperately in Need of Kits, blablabla. What has happened to those billions of naira donated? No allowance has gotten to our hands , nothing yet but the business of saving lives has to go on. the IDH (now NCDC) is not funded by Nigerians or Nigerian Government and all the gullible minds should note this now. The place has been in existence for nearly 100 years now. It's mainly funded by WHO, USAID and CDC of America...no single kobo of Nigerian Government is needed to keep the place running.

I can't wait to know the useless deputy governor and his cohorts in coming days...there are more to come. i hope the case would not be swept under the carpet like they did Humanitarian Affairs Minister's, who hails from Zamfara, the second highest beneficiary of the conditional cash transfer, after katsina. It still baffles me how we got here.
You seem to know a lot about the rot going on.
May God help us in this country.
