Theme of the Novel

I haven't updated this thread for an extremely long time, but make no mistake i haven't forgone my novel. Day by day, i rehearse it, seeking to develop a deeper and more detailed plot. I am back on the thread and this time i want to discuss the theme of my novel.

The theme of a novel is the underlying message or subject about life that the novel explores. Most time the theme of a novel is less appreciated than the story because the theme is not apparent, the theme in most cases is not even given by the writer. The theme of a novel can only be grasped by those readers who rationalize the motivation, the dialogue, decisions and consequences of the novel. Most readers don't bother about these, they just want a beautiful story to entertain themselves. They couldnt care less about the theme, the message about life that the writer projects through the novel.

That being said, it is essential to have a theme for your novel. It guides you through plot making, helping you focus on relevant areas important to the novel. A novel without a theme is like a life without a purpose or mission.

I honestly think Albaqir should back off from chastising the first sahaba(RA). It's not healthy at all.All these so called Sunni ahadith albaqir got his references from are just literature. Doesnt make them all true. Just like Christian evangelists rely heavily on seerat of the prophet by Ibn Ishaq which is full of garbage. And Christians repy on it to castigate the prophet(SAW). But Ibn Isha's accusation are pretty much in conflict with Quran just like many ahadith quoted by baqir.
Ha, the Hadith AlBaqir quoted are in conflict with the Quran? Then why did your Muhadithun grade them Sahih? I hate to interrupt at this juncture but i believe Al Baqir has a very compelling case. The verse you keep drawing as vindication of Umar(Quran 9:100) did not rule that the sahabas were perfect on incorruptible, that God is pleased with one today is no guarantee that God will be pleased with him for ever. And for all we know, Umar may not even be one of the Sahabas addressed.

I have said it in the past and will say it again, traditional mainstream Muslims know nothing about their religion. Umar in many Hadith is depicted as a very blood thirsty and aggressive brute often willing to behead his opponent at the slightest provocation. I don't have the references at the moment but i will post the Hadith on this thread once i do. Umar and Abubakar 's aggressive military campaign that led to the fall of the Sassanid and most of the Byzantine empire turned traditional Islam to a invasive military ideology that legislate aggressive warfare to conquer and rule non-Muslim territories that is exemplified by groups like ISIS today

then why is the rate of unmarried ladies rising?
Because women have accepted sex before marriage. A lot of men are so addicted to this sex that they find marriage to be limiting on their sex option. If more and more women refuse sex before marriage, trust me, a lot of men will set their eyes on marriage and strive to become husband materials.

I hv to accept this Islam oath because I want to comments I have bn following this thread from the beginning. I only comment because of you

May I ask you this question

@usermane what is your contributions to this thread instead you only Criticize the OP?

I am a Christian and I knw almost all what the OP said above

I don't believe you Muslims beha
Look, i am a very busy person, i don't have time to be exchanging PM. I am only willing to consider that if the OP is capable of independent research and rational reading of Islamic texts, i don't see that in someone who copy and paste flawed articles.
I am a rational and critical kind of Muslim and as i stated, my major issue with the OP is that she posted an article without clear references from the scriptures. Still, no where in my post did i sound rude or disrespectful to the OP.

Here are some of her claims.

1. It is prohibited to bury a corpse at night.
Here is evidence against this claim of hers:

Sahih al-Bukhari » Book of Funerals
Hadith 140

Aisha said, "I went to Abu Bakr (during his fatal illness) and he asked me, 'In how many garments was the Prophet (ﷺ) shrouded?' She replied, 'In three Suhuliya pieces of white cloth of cotton, and there was neither a shirt nor a turban among them.' Abu Bakr further asked her, 'On which day did the Prophet die?' She replied, 'He died on Monday.' He asked, 'What is today?' She replied, 'Today is Monday.' He added, 'I hope I shall die sometime between this morning and tonight.' Then he looked at a garment that he was wearing during his illness and it had some stains of affron. Then he said, 'Wash this garment of mine and add two more garments and shroud me in them.' I said, 'This is worn out.' He said, 'A living person has more right to wear new clothes than a dead one; the shroud is only for the body's pus.' He did not die till it was the night of Tuesday and was buried before the morning."

Reports abound from traditional Muslim books of Hadith that Muhammad was buried at night and his first daughter was buried at night as well. http://sunnah.com/urn/1803760

2. The OP claimed that delaying the burial to await anyone is not proper and the burial must be conducted immediatey.

Again, see for yourselves;

Shama'il Muhammadiyah » The Death Of Sayyidina Rasoolullah
It is narrated from Imaam Muhammad Al-Baaqir Radiyallahu 'Anhu that Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam passed away on Monday. This day and the day of Tuesday was spent in preparation for the burial. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was buried on that night. (The night between Tuesday and Wednesday) Sufyaan who is a narrator of this hadith says:
''Only this has been mentioned in the narration of Imaam Baaqir Radiyallahu 'Anhu''. In other narrations it is stated that in the later portion of the night the sound of spades were heard.

So if it is true that Muslim corpse must be buried without delay, why was Muhammd 's corpse burial delayed? What stopped his companions from burying him as soon as he died, what kind of preparation delayed his burial?

3. The OP claimed that the corpse must be buried where death befell the man andd must not be transported elsewhere

See, how much the OP contradict her own traditions.

Home » Sunan an-Nasa'i » The Book of Funerals » Hadith 153
Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif said:
"A poor woman in Al-Awali fell sick and the Prophet used to ask them about her. He said: 'If she dies, do not bury her until I have offered the funeral prayer for her. She died and they brought her to Al-Madinah after dark, and they found that the Messenger of Allah had gone to sleep. They did not like to wake him up, so they offered the funeral prayer for her and buried her in Baqi' Al-Gharqab. The next morning they came and the Messenger of Allah asked them about her. They said: 'She has been buried, O Messenger of Allah. We came to you and found you sleeping, and we did not like to wake you up.' He said: 'let's go.' He set out walking and they went with him and showed him her grave. The Messenger of Allah stood and they formed rows behind him, and he offered the funeral prayer for her, saying the Takbir four times."

We see clearly that this woman 's corpse was transported from her village Al-awali to the city, Medinah on instruction of Muhammad. She wasn't buried where she died and Muhammad was not concerned about this.

If it wasn't bad enough, the writer claimed that delaying the burial actually delays the bliss that await the dead if he lived a righteous life. To the writer, the dead cannot receive his reward till his corpse is buried. This is serious joke, what about those whose bodies were never buried, are they going to miss their reward because of this? I speak from verses of the scriptures(Quran 39:42 and 23:99-100), once a man is dead, there is no relationship or reconnection between his soul and body, the soul is taken to/by God and whether the corpse is buried at the instant of death or embalmed for years, it doesn't change anything. It has no effect on the man, soul or body.

Peace and Have faith
IslamRe: Why Muslims Hasten To Bury The Dead? by usermane(m): 2:39am On Nov 25, 2015
YakubuA:
The messenger of Allah pbuh was buried 2 days after he passed away. It took the Sahaba 2 days not 1 week to select the Khalifah and after that the messenger of Allah was buried. Under normal circumstance the maximum number of days burial can be delayed is 3 days as established by the consensus of the companions (Ijma'asSahab).

May Allah continue to guide us. Ameen.
Please present evidences from the Scriptures that 3 days is the limit to preserve a corpse before burial. We cannot accept a claim based on opinions(Ijma) of ancient fallible jurists.
IslamRe: Why Muslims Hasten To Bury The Dead? by usermane(m): 6:05pm On Nov 24, 2015
Aminat508, it is too bad you keep copying and pasting articles without thoroughly researching them. I am not amazed that 70 Muslims already liked your post, if we had a real Muslim community where Muslims appreciate facts over dogmas, you would have second thought before posting an article filled with dogmas that aren't backed by the Scriptures.

The loopholes in your article have been exposed by earlier posters already, those who stand by empirical and rational understanding of Islam would rethink. Muhammad died on Monday and was not even buried till Tuesday night, this is what your own sacred Biographers of the Prophet and Qur'an exegetes explain. Fatimah, Muhammad 's own daughter was buried at night. Uthman bin Affan was not buried till after 3 days.

I am writing my novel where i explore the consequeces of human corruption(greed for wealth or power) and the cost borne by those who confront or seek to purge out this corruption.

I will like to know other themes or lesson about life that readers of fiction want writers to explore deeper. Your responses will be appreciated and will inspire me in my subsequent novels.

PS: I find it a bit disturbing that the posters so far seem to rebuke the girl. It clearly shows the degree of fornication among Nigerian youths is over the top.

@MrOlai remind me of pot calling kettle black. Your own Ahlu sunnah sect ordain sex slavery of female captives. According to your own tradition, Muhammad had concubines in addition to his numerous wives. Muhammad married and cohabited with a 9 year old according to your tradition. I can post the Hadith if you want me.

The problem with you traditional Muslims is you don't know your religion, that is why you are quick to judge others.

do u realise that this is anoda topic of discuss entirely, common sense tells a lady somethings are wrong and i can't be defending a wrong topic,.....
It is the same topic. Unfortunately, you are missing the clear analogy; It is self contradictory to claim your reason for not asking guy is to not appear cheap, whereas you have no qualms about indulging in other things(demanding gifts from guys) that cast you as cheap for the same guys. I feel if women really don't want to be seen cheap, they would also abstain from gifts from men.

your main topic of discuss is about about ladies been afraid of rejection as the reason they wouldn't ask a guy out,i think you are wrong, read my post well and read d response of the said guys too, they don't want to be asked out....so what are we talking about grin
You keep referring to the posts of those guys which have nothing to do with the topic. You need to pragmatic. There are just too many guys out there that wish a lady or girl would ask them out. I mean decent guys, not perverts or assholes. The views of the guy you refer is not necessarily the view of most guys.

We ar in our final year but she still thinks dis guy loves her. Currently she's not in a relationship because she feels it may b cheating on her crush. She ceases every opportunity to talk about dis guy. Pls note dat he's in d same school and faculty with her.
Am tired but I don't know if I should tell her to ask the guy out .
Lalasticala
I actually thought women say they are turned off shy guys. If your friend is serious and doesn't have the time to waste on green lights which the guy may not be able to read, she should just ask him. Assuming he accepts, if he truly love her, he would take the relationship serious and respect her for making the move. If he does not take the relationship serious and start acting like an ingrate, she should dump him quick before he does any damage.
It will be in her best interest to put off sex for a long while after asking him out and beginning the relationship, if he loves her he won't mind waiting even after marriage for sex. You 'd hate to learn he dumped your friend upon getting sex from her only two weeks after their relationship begun. Careful, desperate men will say yes to you merely to get sex.

It's not like we're scared of rejection.

Let's be frank. We are women, and with the right use of words and adequate body language, it would be near impossible for a guy to just turn us down.
You sure can bet your allowance on this?

The only reason why we steer clear of that is because the guy or most guys, are certain to take advantage of it
But guys that ask you out can certainly still take advantage of it. Which lead me to conclude that fear of rejection is the prime reason
