Yes you can access openoffice opening MS Word document after you completed openoffice configuration/setup to accept all MS Office external files. That is where welcome startup that prompt opening dialog message asking you a selection you want for OpenOffice accepting format conversion: Corel Suite and MS Office.

I have done that many times OpenOffice, Corel Suite, MS Work---accepting opening MS Office document (.doc, .xls, .ppt, .mdb)

.doc - MS Word
.xls - MS Excel
.ppt - MS PowerPoint
.mdb - MS Access

Only my responsible to save as specifically above for later reference instead of OpenOffice document.

Alternative method of sharing MS Access and MySQL database, is google to find MS Access-to-MySQL conversion and vice versa too.

I used to be in your shoe knowing Dbases and MS Access back in early 1980s then my web development college class where I earned a certification taught me using ODBC method to switch both Dbases and MS Access to MySQL for my traditional clients who not want to lose old Dbases/MS Access data from their old computer terminals in order to transfer them into MySQL database replacing newer pc system.

It make my life much easier using ODBC method long before MS Access-to-MySQL conversion was invented.

I'm yet to figure out what happened really. I did clear all my browser cache. I also installed firefox (pretty cool browser, I must say).

One thing I observed though was that my OS, Vista, kept ''receiving'' updates from the net. I had to allow the Windows Update application download and install quite a lot security scripts automatically from Microsoft website. I had to stop one - 195MB size security script (KBxxxxx). It was getting too much. I also did a lot of rescan with Norton.

Any of the above could have resolved the problem but I really can't pinpoint which one it is. But I'm sure glad to have my iternet working properly again.

I am glad that you did rescan Norton, but you ignore VERY IMPORTANT WINDOWS VISTA UPDATE which you were prompted receiving a update dialog message from your net. WINDOWS VISTA UPDATE from Microsoft just want you to update those add-on security patches in order to prevent from hacker accessing your WINDOWS VISTA.

It is MUST for all WINDOWS users to update security patches add-on for WINDOWS VISTA by MICROSOFT.

Be sure that you are on WINDOWS VISTA with Security Package 1, or 2 or 3. (called SP1, or SP2, or SP3). Good luck!

In the USA, Adobe Dreamweaver is the common most popular web page authoring corporate standard use for all America's IT industry.  Usually LARGE COMPANIES with LARGE DESIGN DEPARTMENT mixing with many developers, programmers, designers, artists, copywriters, etc. (over 500-3,000 employees in one company)

In the USA, MS FrontPage is not much but usually most small-medium sized companies use where they cannot afford buying Adobe product that does not meet their financial budgets. (less than 10-500 employees in one company)

SMF and PHPBB have same equality of understanding how to use it easily, functionality, forum support, and very popular in the USA and around the world.

Both are PHP-based you need to know how to modify, add, upload files/theme/add-on modules upon your own taste of forum yourself basically.

I have read both SMF and PHPBB community forum seeing how many out there are FIRST-TIMERS are frustrated understanding to set up, manage, modify, add, their own forum without their knowledge of PHP/HTML they often seek for help using forum community forum.

Some do hire PHP programmer to do the job for them.

But THE FIRST-TIMERS are gratefully that both SMF and PHPBB has its experimential forum for testing to see how they like the looks before doing the real FORUM in order to avoid mess up REAL FORUM losing all data.

Finally, I myself did not install or obtain forum but help out other who are not familiarized with PHP/MySQL/HTML to modify their forum they want.

Good luck for those who want to try out either SMF or PHPBB uploading their web hosting server with their own domain name.

Please do not add up more stories about where my2cents is!
