Nigeria is a former British colony. There are different types of English spoken in the Uk. Scottish, Newcastle's Geordie English, Yorkshire's English, Welsh English and England's English of the Queen. The one we were taught to speak in Nigeria is the Queen's English. I know because I went to Yorkshire and spoke normally and was told that I spoke different from them in Yorkshire I spoke Queen's English.
